New adreno 205 driver - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

ok i dont really get anything from developing roms , porting drivers, etc.
but just wanted to give you a heads up about the new thing maybe someone can get a use out of it
people are talking about %50 - %100 better performance on other phones with same chip

genokolar should add them to his cm7....

Yeah, some dev should work with that

Chainfire3D on Optimus One

The Optimus One has the adreno 200 GPU which supports OpenGL ES 2.0 and meets the requirements for Chainfire3D. I have it running on my Optimus T with 2.2 and haven't noticed anything different when configuring the default settings. Nightmode works, but that's just about it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427
Warning: This replaces (from my understanding of the thread) an existing driver with a new one. It requires root.
I would like to hear back experiences from others who have an Optimus one and tried Chainfire3D.
It also requires a 1 ghz+ cpu. Try running a tegra game to see if it works. Don't know if they will even start... HDPI res required.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
Tegra Zone doesn't render properly in HVGA but the screen resolution is not entirely the problem. Installing a game from it crashes the device, probably because it was never made to work with ARM11 chipsets.
Maybe it is/will be useful for something we don't know yet.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
For me only pinball hd for tegra works fine... nothing else :/
Tried with guerilla bob thd, and a few other thd games. But chainfire doesn't work with those games.

Problem with Chainfire
I am using an Optimus one Myself and attempted installing this but not only did it fail to install I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and now it won't even open upthe app to allow the attempt of the installation of the codec. (basically I attempt to launch it, it fails goes back to menu, this first happened when I was able to launch the program and attempt to install the codec) Now my best guess if I had any is It's incorrect ROM or something. I'm not entirely sure I'm still getting used to this phone. Already rooted it and broken once thus fixing/reflashing. So I've learned a few things. But if someone better then me and I'm sure there are lots of you here could just point me in the right direction I'd be very happy person indeed. Also, If I'm posting in the wrong section I apologize I really suck at this forum thing.
Another odd thing I noticed, I was only able to oc to 600mhz when I've heard I could oc it to 1000mghz. Is this something to do with my rom?

Overclocking to 1ghz is not possible with optimus one...maximum stable clock speed is 806mhz...it seems u r on stock with root...in that u cannot oc to more than 600mhz...
use any other custom kernel...or simply use any other ROM...
LOL 1gHz on an Optimus One... Haha my O1 gets 806mHz tops!

I can run 864MHz on my phone and combined with the correct settings on chainfire 3d u can definitely notice a difference in gaming performance
Would the fact that Chainfire 3d is now not even booting also have something to with the fact that I'm running a stock ROM and cannot overclock passed 600?

I'm going to try out this talho rom and hope for the best.
I figured it all out. simple reading errors on my part as it were going through tutorials and whatnot. either way I got chainfire working just working on download GTa3 to see how it performs.
It worked for me a while ago on CM7 and oxygen, it doesn't need 1GHz+ and is no risk, reflashing the ROM replaces it
Just give it a go, but you need opengles line in build.prop
Seek the signature below the line

Android 4.0 ROM?

Can we dream of such a ROM?
Or did it turn out to be too much hardware dependent/too much broken features if ported etc..?
Also, will the USB accessories support will enable the use of an app that will let me use my X8 as a secondary USB monitor?
x8 can run ics!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362557
Correct if I am wrong, but doesn't the x8 has a single CPU with no GPU and that means it doesn't do hardware acceleration?
I think the lag issue with the UI would be a dead end.
x8 has got a gpu, it has adreno 200 if i'm not wrong

The X8 GPU is Adreno 200.
As you can see here: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_x8-3403.php
Its 200 Adreno.. Stop bringing disinformation dude... defcon.

Not near the same.hero hac crappy ardeno 130,much worse than x8.but hero has a bit more ram,and thats all.x8 will run ics smoother.

no matter that, dont be negative,we re running gingerbread and we should not,so,let the developers works as necesary they need,im wait a bit, remember, were talking about linux based,so,is light to can port it too, dont worry,be happy, and just wait bro,you will see what im talking about in a few days, cheers

420MB Huge RAM Kernel from China

*Disclaimer*
This is not my work and I am just posting it here in case some of you are interested. I take no responsibility for any problems on your phone. Don't expect any support from me.
**NOT TESTED BY MYSELF**
This kernel is for ICS, made in China.
Basically a 420MB RAM is the only difference from other kernel (although it's a big one).
Not working:
-Video recording
-HW decoding
-Camera FC when changing resolution (seems to be a problem on every ICS ROM)
Working:
Everything else
Original thread:
http://bbs.lidroid.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=102046
Downloads: http://code.google.com/p/all-roms/downloads/list
The original thread says that the developer tested it with CM9 and AOKP builds.
Have fun!!

OMFG this kernel is AWESOME!!
Working great here!
EDIT:
Gameloft games don't work couse they use a HW decoded Gameloft logo movie at the beginning so the phone restarts.
What about building a new kernel like this one but... In english ?
My assumption that this would be:
The ramdisk or whatever it called has been modified, i have heard this before with my Nexus S, its so called : BIGMEM...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
Is this based on platypus? Or did he only took the updater-script of it?
This should be placed in SGS development!
I won't post it in development as I didn't do any. (And I don't know how to!)
Just hoping that some devs see it and get interested?

Not a lot of people come here... Hope they notice it? lol
nice
tried on Dark knight.
work very well. but camcorder fc.
interesting
Isn't part of the RAM required by the gpu? Maybe that's why it has hardware decoding issues??
We normally get 340Mb Ram with bigmem kernel (break HD record), he disable the MFC in http://pastebin.com/f5ytsipx so the kernel reclaim 70Mb from video HW decoding, so the kernel got 420Mb, but it's not the way to do things, probally will never get into out mainline kernel
Uuh, if there only was a way to keep HW decoding AND get 420 mb! My SGS sure could use extra 70mb, 330 is just NOT ENOUGH for Android.
Wow, I would love to try it if it were a gingerbread (stock) kernel .
If people want to use multiple kernels, it probably only takes a minute to flash an alternate kernel and reboot your device. that way you get the best of both worlds (but admittedly it is not the best solution).
I just went and read about the thread since I can read chinese lol
The dev there said he based his kernel on this guy https://github.com/ngiordano/ics_3.1.10
and Funnnny was correct, he disabled the MFC so that android can reclaim the reserved ram from that unit, which is about 70MB. But this breaks hardware video decoding and camcorder.....
But he made a compensation in the recovery so that when you need camcorder you can reboot and flash standard kernel, when you don't need it, you can flash back to the huge ram kernel....
dunno if that's useful....
Oh but can't play any games. Giving fc. I'm very interested! If you can override videos in game, you can play. Lets find a way to fix it. Think think rhink

Very interesting! How long have users complained "Where is our 512mb???" etc etc lol.
Is it just me or does dedicated RAM seem not necessary? Maybe it is possible to remap video/gpu/camera or whatever to shared RAM?
+1 oswade.
btw, which one to download??:there's one named i9000 and another t959 kernel panic fixed.
edit:well I downloaded the i9000 one. .it feels good to see 240 mb free ram on the info screen.
hope some developer further develops this idea.

Dedicated RAM isn't necessary of course, but the Exynos SoC have MFC module that expect to use the Ram at a specific address, so the kernel can't touch it (known as reservation).
We can't just take the reserved Ram and use it, because next time when the module need it, it'll only use the Ram at the address it knows, and bang, the phone rebooted like the kernel in OP.
This is not just bad design at software level, maybe bad hardware design too, but I'm not system expert so I can't say anything here, but Exynos is a cool SoC and we should live on with this.

I've tried:
Dead Space
Andry Birds
Reckless Getaway
Hot Springs Story
They does work.
SPY mouse restarts the phone. I guess, it has a video in it.
Anyway, this kernel is rather interesting. I do hope that devs would find a way to trick SGS to play HD videos in software mode to avoid reboots. This way we'll have 70mb extra ram and won't lose anything - even if those videos would lag - who cares?
Also tried this kernel on ics slim and it feels good to have such ammount of free ram.
I also run dead space and reckless racing without any problems.Im assuming gameloft games wont run because they have always a video introducing the game.I just wish someone could break the video aceleration even if we had to loose lets say 20 mb of ram.Still would be very usefull.Ive posted in the stratosk kernel thread about this to see if he is interested on modify this kernel and make it even better

[ULTRA KERNEL] the project Extreme

Hey every developers in XDA.
now XPERIA PLAY is not as good as before, because its performance to keep pace with The Times.but the RAM, ROM,CPU,also the screen are still very well THERE is ONLY one problem ––the GPU
so i want to develop a GPU OVERCLOCKING KERNEL with my project ExtremeRoms
the GPU CLOCK must be over 310mhz!!
dose anybody want to teach me how to develop?
thanks
sorry for my bad English

You should read the rules of the forums here on xda. This isn't the place to ask people how to develop a kernel. Devs have already proven overclocking the gpu on it phone is bad.
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
It has been said many times before. A the Adreno 205 in our phone and basically all Adreno chips are CPU/GPU integrated into one chip. When you overclock yoour phone you are also OC your GPU. Devs who have managed to OC the GPU by itself have run into issues that were not conducive as a daily use. Many have tried and it has been said time and time again.
Now that being said just doing a quick search for Adreno 205 Overclock GPU XDA brings up dozens of pages of where other phones with the 220 and or 205 were said to be overclocked, but then reading down even more its not overclocked.
Hate to rain on your parade and your thread, you are certainly welcome to try but even devs with loads of experience, DoomKernel himself, has been unable to make a GPU OC, in V13 of his DoomKernel for XP he quickly released v14 and reverted the GPU overclock due to issues.

Given the age of our phone and its hardware I think what we are able to do is about the best we can get out of our beloved device. I am sure there is always room for improvement but without all sources from Sony (Ericsson) and Qualcomm I believe we are at the limit of what can be done to our device. Its either be happy with where are device is and be happy that it plays MC3/MC4 and a boatload of emulators with a sweet kicka$$ gamepad, or bunker down and buy a newer device with far better specs and no gamepad/touchpad/triggers.
Now, I was able to use a GS4 for a week and an HTC One, and as much as those device are beautiful in their own right, gaming is horrible. I quickly came back to my PLAY and am very happy with this device still, yes even with its old age and its issues, I am still a happy camper.
Now, this being all said, if you want to work on making an Ultra Kernel I know myself and several people would happily give your kernel a shot. Please dont take my comments as demeaning or belittling. I just think people need to realize that at this point theres very little improvement upon whats been done.
Now, that also being said if you want a beta tester for your kernel I would be happy to test it for you.
oh thats my foul

Kernel Request

Hi there, I tested as many kernels as I can found but still I miss crucial things for me and haven't found yet something, btw all kernels seem same to me with little differences so has anyone saw a kernel that supports
1. Cifs
2. Openvpn
3. Uv ability to anything in the device? Like gpu?
4. Dual Rom (not crucial)
Damn I miss my s2/s3 days, maybe it's too early for N3 but all developers fell in the trap of benchmark and race to raise the mhz which is useless to most of people but banana appealing. If anyone spotted any kernel with extra features pls share it with me I can even beta test if needed.
