Chainfire3D on Optimus One - Optimus One, P500, V Themes and Apps

The Optimus One has the adreno 200 GPU which supports OpenGL ES 2.0 and meets the requirements for Chainfire3D. I have it running on my Optimus T with 2.2 and haven't noticed anything different when configuring the default settings. Nightmode works, but that's just about it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427
Warning: This replaces (from my understanding of the thread) an existing driver with a new one. It requires root.
I would like to hear back experiences from others who have an Optimus one and tried Chainfire3D.

It also requires a 1 ghz+ cpu. Try running a tegra game to see if it works. Don't know if they will even start... HDPI res required.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App

Tegra Zone doesn't render properly in HVGA but the screen resolution is not entirely the problem. Installing a game from it crashes the device, probably because it was never made to work with ARM11 chipsets.

Maybe it is/will be useful for something we don't know yet.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App

For me only pinball hd for tegra works fine... nothing else :/

Tried with guerilla bob thd, and a few other thd games. But chainfire doesn't work with those games.

Problem with Chainfire
I am using an Optimus one Myself and attempted installing this but not only did it fail to install I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and now it won't even open upthe app to allow the attempt of the installation of the codec. (basically I attempt to launch it, it fails goes back to menu, this first happened when I was able to launch the program and attempt to install the codec) Now my best guess if I had any is It's incorrect ROM or something. I'm not entirely sure I'm still getting used to this phone. Already rooted it and broken once thus fixing/reflashing. So I've learned a few things. But if someone better then me and I'm sure there are lots of you here could just point me in the right direction I'd be very happy person indeed. Also, If I'm posting in the wrong section I apologize I really suck at this forum thing.

Another odd thing I noticed, I was only able to oc to 600mhz when I've heard I could oc it to 1000mghz. Is this something to do with my rom?

Overclocking to 1ghz is not possible with optimus one...maximum stable clock speed is 806mhz...it seems u r on stock with root...in that u cannot oc to more than 600mhz...
use any other custom kernel...or simply use any other ROM...

LOL 1gHz on an Optimus One... Haha my O1 gets 806mHz tops!

I can run 864MHz on my phone and combined with the correct settings on chainfire 3d u can definitely notice a difference in gaming performance

Would the fact that Chainfire 3d is now not even booting also have something to with the fact that I'm running a stock ROM and cannot overclock passed 600?

I'm going to try out this talho rom and hope for the best.

I figured it all out. simple reading errors on my part as it were going through tutorials and whatnot. either way I got chainfire working just working on download GTa3 to see how it performs.

It worked for me a while ago on CM7 and oxygen, it doesn't need 1GHz+ and is no risk, reflashing the ROM replaces it
Just give it a go, but you need opengles line in build.prop

New Aria user here...

Hello there XDA I just switched to the Aria from the Captivate. I am new to Android modding, so please bear with me.
I like the phone, It doesnt bother me losing screen space. However it is a bit slow with the 600 MHZ processor.
So if there are some people kind enough to guide me to/through the following it would be appreciated.
1. I would like to overclock it a bit, maybe to 800.
2. General performance tweaks
3. Get rid of Att bloatware
4. Root ( z4root is not in the market anymore and ATT disables side loading.)

Everything u need is in the android Dev. Section for the aria its really simple. To find and to follow..I use cm6 rc2. It overclocks very nicely

Hey Joshua, being new to the Aria as well (less than a month), I haven't looked into overclocking it... but I am running CM 6.1 RC 2, what do I need to do to start overclocking?
Install SetCPU to overclock. I wouldn't go over 825mhz as it starts getting unstable.
As for rooting, search for posts by user asiancuta. He did a really good write up that included a key point I didn't see anywhere else. It's titled NOOBZ: easy guide to rooting your aria.... Read all instructions, and make sure you understand it first.
To install cyanogenmod 6.1 rc2 do a search for That aria - she's so racy!

In the other overclocking thread (or overcloking as the OP spelled it ) several people posted that they were running at 864... what type of instability is likely? Also, doesn't overclocking HAVE to have some sort of adverse effect? Like reduced reliability or an increased likelihood of hardware failure? If there are no adverse effects, why would HTC not set the CPU higher from the factory?

I always lean on the side of caution when it comes to overclocking a phone. I don't want to fry the processor since I can't replace it as easily as one on a computer.
Processors are never set from the factory to run at their fastest.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
While it might seem odd since all these phones have the same hardware they don't all respond the same to overclocking. Some people can do 864. I can't even get my phone to do anything over 825 and even 825 gives me issues. I like to keep mine between 768-787. Over doing it can cause damage and shorten the life of the processor but keeping it around 800 is probably safe as long as you moniter temps. Heat is the real enemy here. Manufacturers are trying to balance cost, reliability, battery life. Our little phone use a smaller battery and so a lower clock speed keeps the phone running longer. And the aria is a mid range phone, they don't want it to be faster than the more expensive phones. Also Higher clock speeds will drain your battery faster. At 768 the phone is noticeably snappier and the battery drain over stock isn't even noticeable.
Huh. That's good to know, Callmearia. However I don't even know where to start on any of this. I've never 'flashed' a phone or anything like that before.

This is a really good guide explaining how to root your phone and install a custom recovery, Clockwork, with which you can flash ROMs, make backups, and a bunch of other stuff:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788737
You will still not be able to sideload apps just by rooting though. You will need to flash a ROM in order to do that. Check out the Android Development section, it is all there.

I think most people can hit 864 now using CM6.1 RC2. I think some tweaks were made to allow it. Before I was only hitting 825mhz or 844mhz when I ran in to stability problems... but now I have none. Or, it could be due to the fact it's colder here now.
Alright, so after some adb troubles with Ubuntu 10.10, I am now rooted, woo!
So now, where to go from here?
This worked flawlessly and easy. Less than 5 minutes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7449486&postcount=1
EDIT : I see that you already got rooted.
You have two choices for Attn1's custom ROMS
Liberated or Cyanogenmod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821642
Take in mind that CM has more customizable features, INCLUDING OVERCLOCKING. Liberated doesn't.
Place the .zip on your SD card. Enter clockworkmod recovery by holding down the volume down button after restarting phone. Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache. Go to install zip from Sdcard. Pick the file. It should install. wait, and reboot and continue.
Customize it to your liking. Download apps/widgets
Turn off unnecessary background items. (Auto Sync)
Decrease Brightness
Only use GSM networks
(these are battery saving tips....lots more)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
That is the SetCPU for XDA members.
To install, go through ADB in the command line, or download FASTAPP Install from the Market and place the .apk on your sd card and install it from there.

I recently set my VM to go thru my Google Voice number now.

However, now my phone is freezing randomly, and causing the launcher to hang. (ADW and LauncherPro both do this)

Dude overclocking is safe you must be pretty new at this. Well there's diff kernels you could flash over your current SENSE sprint lovers rom to give it more kick to play your game. That game requires really high end phones with better gpu's. Give your evo that extra boost man for games like that.

in sum, yes, it can be done, and can be safe, if done right, but the risks are possibly not worth the %10-20 "performance increase". for me, battery drain, overheating, not worth it. but like DD mentioned first, perhaps better to just flash a AOSP based rom, something that's going to be faster "just because" then to force the CPU to work harder.
The Evo's gpu (Adreno 200) is underpowered. That's why you don't see it on the recommended list. They are suggesting at least Andreno 205 which include G2, DesireHD, even the Evo Shift. I've had this game too and tried overclocking, but it's just gpu limited. There's no difference. Don't get me wrong the game will run, but I don't see it playable at 20 fps IMO. I'm gonna save this game for my next device. I'm a bit disappointed too.

I just got my root on a few days ago. Before and after games play fine at the stock 1024mhz so I think overclock xperia really wouldnt mean much besides less battery life. Plus quad cores are early to mid 2012 ... hopefully something like the xperia play only jacked on steroids comes out next year. Definitely this is, was playing angry birds this morning and this beats all roms for smoothness. If not this id say Pcfs v5 was second best ive used
im quite sure any latest 2.3 rom we have will do the job
I'm pretty that lagless angrybirds isn't possible with an ARMv6 phone. Angry birds was back ported from ARMv7 hence also seeing lag in older iOS devices also, 1st and 2nd gen.
You can get smooth game play until level 1, second slide. However, if you do experience lag during the beginning of each level, best is to wait for about 5-10 seconds before beginning.

You can tether by using a custom kernel for 2.1. Go with either Quarx or MMxtreme boot666 kernels.
After than, ensure you have a rooted phone. This can be done by "Z4root" if you haven't yet rooted it.

Well after doing some research it looks like (Assuming you're rooted with custom ROM, cwm recovery, Google Apps enabled etc.) We can "safely" overclock the GPU.
I used Google translate and found the following Spanish user said, "Tegra overclock (no Tegrak): Default uya the gpu of 200mhz and can come to no problem climbing to 520 (more crashes) and force the 4 cores to stay on. It is quite noticeable in some ways, the vice city to the fullest without almost pulls, n64 emus greatly improved the framerate but less so in the benchmarks. The temperature in my case (I have it out of the box) is no problem. http://www44.zippyshare.com/v/71430637/file.html

It is working fine for me on 519r2. If you don't mess with the CPU speed, which there is really no reason to, there shouldn't be any noticeable increase in heat. I just have the GPU set to 520 and the FPS locked at 60. It has definitely made games I considered previously unplayable, playable.

In my case, even with "Set at boot time" enabled, the settings are not sticking. I have to do it every time I power on the box - which becomes a bit tedious. Same goes for not being able to wake the Ouya from the controller.
I checked with No-frills CPU Control to see the CPU % use vs different governors and I found (same as on my N4) that "interactive" seems to be the better one.
