[Q] noob question - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

which rom should i use?? and guide please
thank u
i am new so pls help

k first i recommend you use hyperdroid, typhoon, or if you want a sense rom then energy rom...i use hyperdroid(my sig) roms link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
read a tutorial first!
u need: hspl 4 to unlock phone, 2.15.50 radio, magdlr 1.13, and cwm recovery and the rom you want to run.
1. put your phone in bootloader mode ( while phone is powered down hold volume down and power button) and it will take you to a tri colour screen.
2.with your phone plugged in, it will look and search for the htc drivers and your phone will say usb on the bottom, and when it says that, run the HSPL.exe file you downloaded. this will hack your phone.
3. as soon as your phone reboots hold the volume down and power button to put it back in the tri colour screen. now install the 2.15. radio you downloaded by running the custom ruu, and this will install it for you.
4. now once again, once it completes put your phone into tri coulour screen again, and run magdlr. This will install magdlr for you as well, the bootloader that will replace the original. this is whats going to get you into nand android, or wp7 etc.
5. once thats done phone will reboot, and now it will reboot into magdlr. from here on, you will have to put your phone into usb flasher mode. the phone will install other usb drivers once you do that.
6. once thats done, while on usb flasher mode, install the recovery you downloaded, and using the dft installer, will install the recovery. follow the instructions ins the recovery flasher.
7. when thats down, in magdlr go into ad recovery, and this will put you into the Android recovery.
8. using your volume rocker, go down to mounts/storage, and mount usb/storage, and transfer your rom over to ur sd card.
9. unmount and go into "install zip from sd card." and choose the rom you just transferred. this will take a few minutes, just let it sit till it finishes.
10. once complete go into reboot phone. enjoy
Notes: on first boot, usually it will take a litle longer just sit and be paitent.
Make sure you download the rom that fits your phone ( tmobile version, or EU)
if i helped just hit the thanks button and u can pm me if u have any prob

thank you i will try that later

Nice elaboration walidhazem
Imo, don't go for sense roms, because the newer ones (3.0+) eat up your RAM and the phone become unusable with 100Mb Idle...

Possible bug with MAGLDR112

Been trying to upgrade to MAGLDR112 from 111 but the installer cant find my device. The device is in flaser mode and awaiting usb connection but the Magldr112 installer fails to connect. I tried flasing two other Android nand roms and had no problems with both (just ran the installer right after Maglrd112 install failed with error 264). So this could very well be a bug with the latest version of MAGLDR.
Task29 and magldr 1.12. Nothing else

You need your device in bootloader, not in MAGLDR.
You would flash MAGLDR like you would any WinMo ROM.
What he said.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
1. Turn off phone
2. Plug in phone
3. Told down the volume down button and press the power button
4. Wait till you see a three colored screen
5. Flash 1.12
6. Reboot and hold power
7. Notice it now says 1.12
8. Be happy
9. Push the thank you button
What does 1.12 do that 1.11 didn't?

+1 i agree with u i pass with this then i install 111 again
I don't see the reason to upgrade to 112 unless you are using Win 7 and if you are going to use NAND android then just wait for 113.
Guys, you OBVIOUSLY don't read...
Please read post 3 and 5 then try again....You will get MAGLDR 1.12 flashed onto your HD2. There are hundreds off people that can attest this method works.....
OMG! Only if I had known this method sooner I wouldn't have wasted so much time updating MAGLDR by downgrading back to WinMo then MAGLDR again..

I've had the same issues for 1.12. I think it has something to do with it being plugged in.
Before you boot, unplug. Then get to the magldr screen. Then go to USB flasher. Then plug in USB. Run DFT.
This has worked for me every time.
Read some posts people before you start flashing **** !
Solved!

wth are you talking about? You dont flash magldr with magldr, you flash it with bootloader.
So either you are talking out of your backside or you didnt even read the comment you are replying to.

[Q] MAGLDR won't load menu

For the life of me, the MAGLDR menu refuses to show (Boot AD NANDE, USB Flasher, etc). The program itself will start up, but not the menu. I've put HSPL2.08 and the 2.15.50.14 radio on the phone. I actually had an Android ROM booted before, but wanted to try a WP7 rom, which acted like it wanted to boot up, but never did. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I've been rebooted this phone for the past 4 hours trying to get it to show the menu, but nothing. Any idea what the problem could be?
just to double check the process, , you need to be holding the power (end) button from during the first splash screen, and dont let go till the menu appears.
Still not giving me anything. I'm not sure what to do from here.
double check your spl, (bootloader, must say 2.08,hspl next to 'spl', , dont assume it, check it.)
since this came from a failed wp7 flash, id be very tempted to either flash a stock rom, or do a task 29, to get it back to blank, then magldr, CWM, rom.
Couple of questions:
1. What is task 29? (sounds like formatting)
2. How do I flash CWM from a fresh Magldr install? I got an Android ROM ready to install through DFT, but would prefer to flash through CWM from now on. Thanks for your help, btw.
Ok this is what you need to do...
1. Download task29 to your computer. Unzip to a folder on your computer.
look here for the task29 zip (I use this one) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19 Enter bootloader screen and run DAF as admin this will run through setup. After setup phone will reboot, this is where you start step #2.
2. Make sure you have a copy of MAGLDR which can be found here...Do the same, extract to a file on your computer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10197474&postcount=1 Enter bootloader, run ROM update utility as admin. The phone will install magldr1.13. Now on to step three...
3. You will reboot phone into MAGLDR by holding red power button down till you enter into MAGLDR go down to option 5...USB Flasher this is what you want to choose to setup your partition. Some ROM builds have specific partitions that work with their ROMS like the one I use which can be found here.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915159
If you are going to use DFT builds go ahead but CWM is so much easier trust me, but just in case here is a link for some standard partitions for CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
4. After you have done all this and have a partition setup it is time again to reboot into bootloader...choose option 5 for DFT builds and flash your ROM. Choose option 8 for CWM and install your build zip file.
Why would MAGLDR's menu refuse to pop up even if I hold down the power button? I have to constantly reboot it for half an hour before it decides to pop up, and even then, flashing fails virtually the whole time. This is getting frustrating. I'm an experienced flasher, having played with a Droid 1 and EVO for the past year, yet this phone is giving me problems like I don't know what I'm doing.
Did you try the steps outlined in my last post? You need to run a task 29 and start from scratch. Your MAGLDR download likely has a corrupt file.

Task 29 link you provided is freezing at 38%. I've pretty much given up on this phone.
*edit* Started over, and it worked, but didn't reboot the phone properly. One problem after another.
*edit 2* Pulled the battery, went into bootloader, flashed the MAGLDR, finished, but also didn't reboot phone properly. What could be the problem with that?
What do you mean by it did not reboot the phone properly?
Phone didn't reboot to splash, just a black screen. I've given up on this phone. I've tried for the past two days to get it going, and I've deleted all files associated to the phone. I'm glad this isn't my phone.
I usually get this with MAGLDR. Sometimes it just shows the info at the top, others, it goes to a white screen. I usually just soft reset it from the little button inside the battery cover. Or else, boot to HSPL, then Task 29.
I use a program called 'AdvancedLeoRUU'. I think this is it. Not too sure though. Try it out. You run the RomUpdateUtility to run the Task 29 btw.

[Q] PLEASE HELP NEEDED - Beginner

I am trying to re-flash WIN6.5 with no luck
1. I installed HSPL2.8 and MAGDLR 1.13 with the hope of trying CWM and loading Android to NAND.
2. I used ClockworkMod Recovery to install zip from SDCard using TyphooN_CM7_v2.8.0-cLK.zip
3. Progress looked like install was completed
4. When re-booting, got message NAND Kernel open failed
I TRIED TO REFLASH MY WIN6.5 from the RED/GREEN/BLUE bootloader menu but now I do not get a valid connection via USB
The Bootloader screen shows 'USB' at the bottom and when I click the Custom_RUU.exe I used to load my Custom Win6.5 ROM I get the first screen showing the update button etc. but when I press update, the progress bar appears on the PC and my HD2 but no update actually occurs
FINALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES I GET A 'RECOVERY SCREEN' and update failed message.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP???? I will gladly 'Donate' some beer money
when you turn on your phone hold the red power button until the magldr screen pops up then go to flash to usb then download the stock rom for win 6.5 it should be in the win6.5 development threads on XDA the rom should be a .exe file, run the file once u establish a usb connection with the computer. if you can't get on the magldr screen, try going to the boot screen ( the one with the color stripes) and re-flash your magldr or the hspl4. as long as you can get into the magldr boot screen then you should be able to flash android or winmo. hope that helps.

This couldn't be more wrong lol. You can't flash WinMo ROM's from MAGLDR, only WP7 and Android.
Anyway why don't you just try flash a different Android ROM? Even one that has a daf and not a .zip that you have through CWM.
If you do want to go back to stock though, download your stock ROM from the HTC site or T-mobile depending on which phone you have (T-mobile say t-mobile at the top and has red and green call/end buttons). Then once you've downloaded it, rename the file to .zip (should be .exe by default) then using WinRar open the file and look for a file that ends with '.nbh' in WinRar. Once you've found that file just extract it to wherever you want and rename it to 'LEOIMG.nbh'. Once you've done that, place it on the root of your SD card, then POP your SD card back in to your HD2, boot to HSPL (tri colour) and you'll come to a screen which will allow you to flash the ROM from SD and you're done.
PS. you need a 4GB or smaller SD card to flash it.
Good luck.

WOW!! for a newbie, u sure know how to go for d big guns ...Anyway according to your post, i tk it u downloaded the "TyphooN_CM7_v2.8.0-cLK.zip" file ryt?...Well in [cLK/MAGLDR]TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 RC2+ v2.8.4's thread, it tells you there are two ways to install this particular build...I'm guessing u tried installing the "TyphooN_CM7_v2.8.0-cLK.zip" thru MAGLDR-CWM instead of following Charmacas's cLk tutorial.
So in d spirit of learning, Start d whole process again (Task 29, etc), go back to the build's thread (link above), choose which method is most comfortable 2 u ( i recommend MAGLDR) and re-download the latest & APPROPRIATE build for the process or just download from the links below....
MAGLDR Method.
cLK Method.
Nw abt reflashing WinMO, U've got HSPL installed so u r good...Just perform a Task 29 (dis wipes ur phone clean, leaving ur HSPL & radio intact) from the bootloader screen...Should usb fail? unplug n try another usb port on your pc...Then simply flash ur desired WinMo ROM.
This my friend is what happens when dev's instructions are not followed...Do read, understand n be more careful nxt time...Donate to the devs if i helped u.

remove windows phone 7

I just bought an HD2 with windows phone 7 already installed. The guy i bought it from said that the phone came like that from the previous owner.
From what I can tell, windows phone 7 has been flashed to the nand/internal memory.
Can someone point me in the direction of where to look to remove this OS so that I can install the other wonderful Rom's developed for the HD2 (android, meego, etc)?
I've been looking around but i'm a little lost.
Thanks!
Personally i would seriously consider taking the HD2 back to its stock defaults and then work forward, the problem of using someone elses work is that you dont actually learn anything, which is what this commuinity is all about
So if you want my advice do an SD card flash of a stock ROM for your device
first things first, go to HTCs website
http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=all
grab yourself a stock ROM (if you have a 1024MB version of the HD2 then be careful!)
extract the file you downloaded, use winrar or 7zip
- Take the "RUU_signed.nbh" and copy it to a blank SD card .
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- put that SD card in the HD2
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
- Follow directions
that should perform an SD card flash, meaning it will remove absolutely everything and start from scratch, ie Windows Mobile
you can then decide what you want to install and go from there
as a rule the process is HSPL>RADIO>(MAGLDR)>ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914924
has some general guides
but as a rule you should really just do to the thread of your chosen OS, that should have some stickys on how to do things and dont forget the wiki!
Thanks for your reply!
I seem to be stuck, when i hold "volume down + power" I get into this:
aMAGLDR V1.12

nope!
your holding down the power button arent you?
take out the battery
hold the vol DOWN key
put the battery in (keep holding down vol down)
then "tap" power button (push and let go) the phone will vibrate a bit
keep holding down the vol down key until the tri colour screen comes on, if you copied the .nbh file and renamed it too your SD card it "should" allow you to install it
i tried it to it stays on red green blue white serial.
i have installed win7 but want to loose it

yea...so once when you are on the 3 color screen why dont you simply go ahead connect your USB and flash a custom ROM ???
or if you want stock...copy the .nbh file in your SD Card...and the flashing will start automatically...get it ???
Whats your reason for wasnting to remove WP7?
I personally think its better than most roms, and a about tied with the energy rom.
try flashing Yukis V5 and you might prefer WP7
no connection

And your Android ROM.....
This is use for NAND Android ROM installation.
First of all, Format your SDCARD like FAT32 with your PC . you must create over your sdcard ext3 or ext4 partition area size of 1Gb with a partition tool. Copy your Android ROM inside the FAT32 partition. Then insert it to your HTC.
If you have EU model HTC HD2 can continue.
1. Setup HD2 Toolkit in your PC(Win7) and start it.
2. Close your phone completly.
3. Push "Volume Down" button and "Call Off" button same time until your phone shows you 4 different colored screen. You must check if your HSPL is 2.08.HSPL.
4. Plug your phone to PC, and see "Serial" to "USB" sign.
5. HD2 Toolkit is our assistance. Push the "Task29" button and go on. it will fomat your phone. You must push the "Volume Down" button when you see %100 on the screen and wait until you see 4 colored screen. Of course you must check again "USB" sign.
6. Now, Unzip "Radio 2.15..zip" on your desktop, then you will have 2 files. Launch DAF.exe with Administrator rights using your right click.. Go on and push the "Volume Down" button when you see %100 on the screen and wait until you see 4 colored screen. check again "USB" sign.
7. Push the HD2 Toolkit "magldr" button and go on. Don't touch any thing this time, when it finished, it will open up with magldr.
8. Use volume up down button and select "4 USB Flash" mode with "Call answer" button. When you see on the screen "USB Flash......USB" then choose "System Partition Size (MAGLDR)=custom" and write "cache size (in MB)=5" (or whatever) left side on the HD2 Toolkit and push the "Repartition" button. Write correct partition number(for example 200). (some rom has 5/200/5.. it shows that (CWM size = 5MB/System size = 200MB/Cache size = 5MB)) and go on...
9. Reboot your HTC Device. When magldr screen show up, select "AD Recovery" with volume down-up, push the "Call Answer" button.
10. Select the "install zip file" and select "install zip from sdcard" and choose your rom and go on.
that's all..

I managed to flash a stock rom back, because i wanted to go to another ROM now. I have HSPL 2.08. installed and now i want to install MAGLDR 1.13. However, if i make activesync connection and i let the MAGLDR program install, the HD2 goes to bootloader, then shows the installation loading screen for half a second and then just goes back to bootloader. I just cant get MAGLDR installed and so i cant use my device, i really need help because I dont have a backup device, help plz!

Click to collapse
To install MAGLDR, you must enter the tri-clour screen(bootloader).
1. Turn off your phone
2. While keeping the voloume down button pressed, turn it on. (Dont let the volume down button go until you see the tri-colour screen)
3. Then connect the phone to the pc via usb
4. Make sure the activesync connects.
5. The "serial" on the bootloader will change to "usb"(this part is on your phone)
6. Now flash MAGLDR
Hope it helps
Really appreciate the help but look, when i try Task 29 or anything else that needs the bootloader, it says USB in the bootloader screen, and i also hear the sound when you connect a usb to you windows pc. But then when I open task 29 i get connection errors. I am sure i have HSPL 2.08. I get connection errors with everything I try to flash; stock rom, task 29, magldr...
Have you ever try to run Task29 with "run as Administrator", or you should stop your antivirus.
or...
You can try to replace your driver with this one..

But for some reason i did manage to flash the radio..
NVM, for some reason i just worked! thanks for the help!
i didn't do anything but i can just accept "thanks" button
well, if you could help me just 1 more time.. haha. Now when i try to install recovery with the DAF file, the USB Flasher mode just freezes.. cant flash it. what now?!
man,I think that one of your drivers may be effecting your HTC Driver. Don't touch anything when DAF is running.
mmmm.. your cable may be broken, don't touch it when in progress..
Or you must reboot your computer, sometimes it works.
Will try now, be right back !
Nope, didnt work.. closed as much processes as i could but still nothing.. getting desperate, dont have a phone tomorrow if I cant get it to work. Isnt there a way to install recovery without flasher mode? any other ideas?
sorry man.. check your "ActiveSync". and i don't have another idea..
You can try to install from SD card
