WP7 on Galaxy note? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Is it possible to flash wp7 on galaxy note?
I am aware of the resolution variation, but is it possible by any means?

Really??? Slap myself on the forehead!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App

never going to happen, ever.
WP7 has very strict hardware requirements, and doesnt even support dual core processors.

I think it will never happen, unless great the greatest minds from cotulla have some free time.
However, i'd be very happy if it will happen, as wp7 is, in my opinion, a far more better os than android. The whole os is an integrated experiene, where every aspect of the apps feel uniform with the os rather than all the android apps wich makes android looks like a post-it wall. +1 for the idea.

@crazy talk,
I Don't think so. I someone had thought the same, the HD7 would have not seen a WP7 rom running in it.
Anything is possible. I am sure the note's spec will defenetly attract the interests of our great chefs.

WP7 on Epic 4g?

How likely is it that we may see some sort of dual boot, or rom that runs WP7 on our epic's? I know sammy made 1 or 2 wp7 phones, and I assume they use the same chipset as the galaxy s line?? Just thought it wuldbe neat to be able to do this. I think wp7 looks pretty cool....just not cool enough to switch from android. Lol

1) This has been asked around 5 times already
2) No its not the same stuff..WP7 version uses a 1st gen snapdragon as its the only allowed cpu at this point, we have a hummingbird cpu
3) No one is going to develop is cause M$ will sue them to next millennium...Android is ported to other phones cause its open source..WP7 is not...and they let HD2 slide because they still make money on winmo licenses..on Android phone they make no money off you..so they'll sue you to next millennium...
what he said... just use this.. http://www.appbrain.com/app/windows-phone-android/com.androidtechnical.wp7pro lol
WP7 sucks Android > wp7

Sorry bro, you'd be better off sticking to a GSM network and owning multiple handsets if you want to do that.
A) aside from the CPU issue, WP7 still isn't out with CDMA support yet, and
B) even if it were possible, the android community would be hard pressed to pull it off largely out of mindset. Nothing is more important than free choice--as long as you choose open.
Remember, modern tech is more about elitism and team sports (us vs. them) than an unbiased love to tinker. Welcome.
/as much as I dig Android, the exclusionary mindset of its userbase just might drive me away some day

The biggest hurdle that I see is that WP7 is a closed-source system. Getting Android to run on a device is considerable easier because all it takes is getting a Linux kernel to boot on a device then getting the JVM to boot the actual software. Linux is open source. AOSP is, well, open source. So, at that point, it's just an understanding of the hardware and how to get the kernel to play nice with it.
This is completely different with WP7. We don't have kernels to play with. It would involve reverse-engineering and redistributing closed-source, proprietary, licensed software... which is, obviously, illegal. And no small task, to boot.
I wouldn't mind having a WP7 device just to see what it's about, but this device isn't it.
Yeah I forgot about the whole closed source proprietary thing...and mircsofts lawyers. Lol. I knew the snapdragon was their baseline but wasn't sure what chips sammy was usng for their wp7 phones. It was just a thought. I haven't used a wp7 device, I just think the ui looks pretty neat. But I guess you can accomplish close to the same thing with themed launchers. I still can't decide if the whole open source, do what you want is a good thing for android or what will eventually turn people away from it.

Yeah this really is in the wrong area but I must agree that this is the greatest all around phone ever created. Two years later it is still going strong, eventually it will not be able to compete with newer phones as more cores are added and Android & WP7 evolves but for right now we are still relevent.
Thanks to XDA for extending the life of HTC's greatest achievment as well as all the older devices that are still supported.

Well this not courtesy HTC but the Awesome Dev's here on XDA
Yes it's awesome and its already an "old" phone but it's still as good as the newer phones
Okay dualcore is missing but ram of the tmous version and the rest is the same like the desire hd2 and the os I can use are great

Agreed a front camera and dual core is all this bad boy needs... I wonder what things would be like if it was stuck on WM6.5 tho
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
i agree 100%. I have choosen it because it had the biggest screen and thanks to great people on this forum(replaced winmo with android) I now have the best phone.
I have it for about a year and people around me bought newer phones, but they still envy my phone. I think its really hard to be happy these days as commercials pump our brains with irrelevant data...
Yea, agreed! I was deciding on an iPhone 3GS and HTC HD2 when I went to sign up for a mobile contract a year and a half ago, glad I took up the HD2 and never looked back.
I love to HTC HD2. and its always best ... even their are lots of new smart phones in the market...
Agreed with everything on this thread (... best phone ... wrong thread etc). If I could add anything to my phone, it would be HDMI-out, but that's only really as a novelty feature rather than something I would use often.
I really can't see myself upgrading until my HD2 breaks or something truly revolutionary comes along. Dual-core may be it, but I have no reason to upgrade until they are either a bit cheaper or better utilised.
I really hope the phone remains powerful enough for Ice Cream Sandwich and newer Senses, because it's truly wonderful hardware.
HTC needs to improve it with the front face camera ...etc and make a HD3
Front camera would be great, but i want better main camera.
My HD2 still gives me much L.O.V.E and now with Android on it shiiiiiit
Peace

Simply the best!!!!
i dont even want a dual core processor. the only thing i want to be better on my phone is the digitizer, and the screen.
rly, the glitchy multitouch and touchdelay pisses me off in games.. i want a fast touchscreen like newer devices ;(
but thats the only point..
HTC should make a phone especially for XDA. the HD2 XDA edition!!! with something like the same hardware as the sensation has, just in a HD2 body.. <3

Froyo vs iOS5

My circle of friends are all Apple fans, recently one of them updated to iOS5. He's so excited about it, showing me iPhone can do this do that now. Uhm, Android had all of this a year ago hahahha!!! And I'm still on Froyo. Imagine all the new features in Gingerbread and Honeycomb
Apple is losing in hardware and OS features, so they'll keep suing with Patents.
can we never be in peace seriously?
iOS and Android are two completely different things.

Actually no they aren't. They are so much alike that fighting over them is stupid and pointless.
Both companies can be accused of copying one another when it comes to features.
Its all a matter of personal preference, I prefer Android while others prefer ios, or blackberry or symbian etc. The only reason I dislike apple is not because of their products, but rather their terrible business ethics, otherwise i will admit that the iphone while not my flavour is a good device.

Not when it comes to business practices. Apple has hardware and software that is constantly CAPABLE of doing more, and a simple jailbreak makes it fully capable of almost everything android does. They would rather just sell you features slowly over time.
Whatever iphone 5 can do, iphone 3g probably could have done perfectly well, only now they dont have to truly TRY to make something awesome for people to buy it like android based phones do.
So yea, the devices ARE different.. try to bluetooth a file to someone on an iphone, or really even save a file, or so many other simple things. It COULD be very similar devices except apple is all about slowly selling you functionality and calling it innovation.
The OP has a point, Froyo, as much as we ***** about it, is capable of TONS more than the newest iphone. The only thing apple REALLY has is a following which attracts developers and great hardware that isn't fully utilized.
I just hate iphone fans and apple thats all the products are not.bad at all i still prefer android over ios but if they give me a free iphone i wouldnt complaint, i do agree with the op. Now whos exited about samsung galaxy notes??? I am!!!!!

I love the look of honeycomb, but it still has issues like choppines, not smooth, the stock browser is not good, lack of optimized apps... It doesn't even have an optimized Facebook app but there are third party Facebook apps anyway.. You can't even write a review on the market place and Google seems to be not planning on updating it til the next android version.. Pffffft
I have the gslate and i love it, but it doesn't run like how i want it to be being a dual core... Wish we have an OC kernel for it..
On android, it must have good hardware for it to run sleek.. My brother and his wife both have the touchpad, the browser on that one is fantastic! Why Can't android be like that? Oh yah it must be the widgets hence the choppines.. But it's fine i still prefer android no matter what..
Oh i just thought that if the touchpad was a hit, i bet apple would sue hp because it looks more similar to the ipad than the Galaxy tab does... Samsung is doing well in the mobile industry, making great mobile products, overall innovating... ,apple can't stand it
I think I'm going to switch from Android to iOS with the upcoming iPhone 5.
I just want a phone that works, and works all the time. Aside from antenna-gate, iPhone seems to be a solid and stable device.
I'm tired of messing with my phone. No Android device I have owned has been problem free, but it seems like many iPhones just work and work flawlessly.
Anyways, still undecided until the iPhone is actually released next month.
Yup, iphone is very stable.
Good thing I don't get tired of android though I do get tired of flashing roms that's why I'm using he most stable rom for me.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You guys think that's cool. MIUI blows them all out of the water due to one fact: THEME CHANGER>>>>its sooooo cool! Like having a new rom in 2 seconds. I have been using a cheezit theme forever but I have a hundred different ones downloaded like transformers etc. Its the coolest **** ever. I could care less about anything else. It changes EVERYTHING VISUAL on your phone.
The thing that makes android win over iPhone, the one fact I've never heard a good argument for.. android will let you customize everything. Literally. Ios, though it works consistently, doesn't let you have control of most things. Its based on their business model, and some users don't want to have to be responsible for their devices.. but android wins simply because if the hardware can do something, and as a user, or as a community, you want it bad enough.. you can make it do it.
I wouldn't be as against apple as I am if they didn't fight jailbreaking like they do. Development is hindered by constantly having to find new exploits. Their devices CAN be amazing, but then they'd have to work harder to amaze you if they allowed the hardware to do everything it can do right now.

Reason I've title it "Froyo vs iOS5" because most of the new features in iOS5 are in Froyo already. Gingerbread has more features that iOS5 can't be comparable.
iOS is very stable just can't customize it to my liking, that's why I like/use Android.

Do we have a Smartphone or a Superphone?

Do you think our SGSII is a Superphone or Smartphone?
After reading this article on Techradar http://bit.ly/zkfg44 , I would suggest a Superphone.
Best bit of news, iPhone is definitely NOT a Superphone, no matter how hard they try
looks like techradar has been getting its money from Samsung recently

We do have a superphone. You can customize it the way you want. You can make it faster the way you want..You can tweak it the way you want..What can you do with an iphone? Nothing really..Iphones are good and solid phones as i use to own one..But coming over to android i wished i made the move sooner.
Smartphone there is no such thing as a super phone until lots of people try to market it.

There won't be a superphone until Apple releases something that they call a superphone.
And quit comparing this phone to an iPhone trying to make it look superior. If you are truly superior, you don't try to kick others down beyond reason.

Superphone has different meanings..For me my phone is a superphone. It does so many things compare to what i use to do with my iphone and i can customize it more beyond i ever could with my iphone so for me my phone is a superphone. But to say kicking others down beyond reason because i think my phone is better there you are wrong.
Comparing phones is nothing. Everyone does that..Just look at all the fanboys. And all the arguments with which is better..Android is iOS. That is silly with the way some people act. But you can never stop that no matter how hard you try. Regarding the issue here if i think my Galaxy is better. Yes it is. Would i go as far as having a debate with someone who has an iphone. No i wont as i do not see the point. The phone is for me to enjoy and if someone else does not value my opinion regarding my phone i do not care as i think it is the one for me..All i can give is give a recommendation and opinion.
SUPERPHONE

I am not a fanboy so, it is a smartphone. I would term it super when I would not need a spare battery (upon heavy usage). BTW I am grateful that I can have one unlike some other phones where its inbuilt and nothing can be done about it.

Randomly I was thinking about this issue today... And I decided (in my own head) that iOS and WP7 are not smartphones, just clever feature-phones. Their limitations and walled-garden (iOS and to an extent WP7) stop them being classed as mini-computers (again, in my head!).
My definition is matched by the S2, with the main requirements (hardware-wise) being HDMI-out and WiFi keyboard/mouse, to give me the desktop experience at home, and (software) rooted Android. I realised last week that I never expect to need to spend money with Microsoft again, as Android has almost matured into a fully-fledged mobile/PS Operating System (with some caveats).
But I definitely agree with Princeomi, the final super-phone requirement for me is battery life of at least 48 hours of moderate/decent usage.
When I had a Nokia5800 that was a smartphone. Nokia5800 vs SII, SII kicks its ass with God power!
The SII its God's phone ahah

A "superphone" is just another marketing term imo, and Techradar is generally full of BS.
Smartphone being a phone that runs a OS that is able to run 3rd party apps (distributed via package or via app store/market/w.e), will have a data modem, and lots of connectivity (wifi/bluetooth), normally means devices running android, WP7, IOS, BBOS, symbian (RIP) and even Winmob or bada.
Feature phone being a phone that has most of the features that one would consider a smartphone to have but without a real source of applications (eg phones running Qualcomm BREW) also doesn't normally cover phones that can only run java ME applets.
Feature phones are mostly dying, with android extending down into the space they normally filled between classic phones and smartphones.
Most of that was tl;dr but meh!
I think my phone is pretty Thuper.

HD2 Successor (longevity&versatility-wise)

Hello fellow HD2 owners,
I'm still amazed how much support it gets and how its hardware can keep with even new versions of ICS (especially with HWA).
But in the near future I would like to upgrade.
Do you have any tips for a successor of HD2 which should I go for and which could same support in the future like HD2 does?
Thank you for nay suggestions!

Unfortunately, nothing will be as versatile and long-living as the HD2 as far as I'm concerned. Sure, phones like the SGS3 are great and will probably have development for a fair amount of time, but there won't be anything which will be able to run so many OSes and do so much.
I think the next 'HD2' will be a phone which will have a high hardware spec, and be running an OS at the end of its life. (As was the HD2) and I reckon Android still has a long way to go before it runs out of steam. IMHO ICS may be the highest we can go on the HD2. But I would love to be proved wrong

I agree with this for the most part but I just don't know what OS will be at the end of its life in the near future since Android and iOS seem to be the most viable choices from here out. I think eventually their will be a successor to the hd2 however it will be quite some time for multiple reasons.. hd2 was launch right when win mobile ran out of steam then came along windows phone 7 also Android also picked up so their were lots of things people wanted in a phone all of a sudden and the hd2 was the device to have.

I don't think there will be a phone coming anytime soon that can handle all the mobile OSes and have so many ports like the HD2. I personally like the HTC One X. Planning on getting one
