I don't like it either but I miss not having access to the AppStore. If this made possible iPhone apps for my Streak I would adopt it without a second thought.

Imagine how nice the iOS would look on the streak's immense screen!

They are amazing at first glance, then you hold one and realize the true POS nature it is.
Personally, I would never want to run any iOS on my Streak. Talk about ruining a near perfect device!

Agreed, iOS is the problem. The iPhone hardware is just standard smartphone fair, iOS is the reason i dont want one.

5 of my mates who have i phones all say they will get an android device next after seeing my streak, my mates desire and my other mates sgs. So why would any android user want the inferior ios on their device. No thanks.

The apps for iphone are more refined and mature than andorid....
How ever I must the UI is better for android.

Iphones can dual boot, why shouldnt we at least have the option too. I had an iphone that ran android poorly and got hot in two minutes, but it was fun and cool either way.

it has many issues currently, I've seen many try, I even saw Ipads running on Froyo, but yet again with many issues.....
but it's a good option for iPhone users to run Android

Let's be rational. There's probably 10 to 20 times as many iPhone owners as there are X10 owners, which comes with it a proportional increase in people developing for it.
You'd have a better point if it said "Apple released Android 2.2 before Sony Ericsson did for the X10."

nope, haven't seen anything like that...mmmhhh, but really, i love my X10 now that it's running 2.1, and i loved my X10 when it was running 1.6....it has this unique design which makes it actually look it a little more mature and sophisticated compared to the iPhone (no offence here, I had used an iPhone before I gave it to my girlfriend and bought an X10).....
besides, I think the fact that people are being eager to get froyo fully running on an iPhone somehow shows that they may not be completely satisfied with Apple's OS ;-)

trust me i had an iphone and the ios is just awful, jailbreaking isnt any better. Most jailbreak apps are real battery killers, and its hard to feel proud of your iphone when apple releases a newer better one every year, the iphone 4 is already lame and iphone forums are already discussing iphone 5 news and specs, thats just nuts

If you're serious about being angry that a company updates it's product line once a year, I'm kinda worried what's going to happen when you start looking at a new computer, camera, or television.

You've been able to install android off cydia for some time now. I know I did it on my iphone a few months back now. It is unusable though. There just aren't enough buttons on the iphone for it to work properly.

thats different, if se releases a new phone i wont care, i bought my phone online from at&t for 160 bucks and had it delivered to me, but when people freak out about the new iphone, wait in line for days, pay up to 400 bucks (credit cards only now, no more cash or debit will be excepted for newly released iphones), and then find out within a few months a newer better one is already being viewed by the fcc... well it gets a little frustrating

yea the iphone itself is a great product, but its the limbo of purchases that kill me. look up new iphone, pre order, wait in line, drop half a grand on launch day, repeat, repeat, repeat

You may have overlooked this, but as I said, I had been using an iPhone (for two years) before I got an X10...hence, I totally agree with you...all that jailbreaking here, jailbreaking there, and thus only being able to fully "unleash the phone's power" (yeah, a little bit of sarcasm in there) if you jailbreak it, is just pure crap....always being scared of the next update which will probably make it more difficult or even impossible to jailbreak the handset is so freaking annoying - thus, android ROCKS! (no offence to people who use an iPhone btw, just to clarify) ;D

My wife's iPad is realy lucky because I would break it from the first days if it was mine. I love the machine I hate the OS.
If there is an option to install Android on it I would definetely give it a try.

My bros iPhone is horrible. 3G cuts out, its not smooth and GPS doesn't work properly 4 times out of 10.
Although FroYo will set those poor iPhone owners free!

Yea I just hope its not at the slow pace we usually have to wait. There are still some apps that they have on IOS that we dont have yet so I just bought and jailbroke an itouch 4 gen and use my evo as a hotspot. Kinda like with the netflix thing... bad thing about IOS is its just one OS a year... good thing is it makes it a lot easier for devs to code for it without having to make sure its compatible for a lot of different versions.

The reason its one OS a year its cause its one phone a year, and that what apples head honcho tries to bad talk Android because of fragmentation, basically meaning so many diff versions of OS's on so many devices that not all android apps are compatible, so he thinks his one device for everybody model is better than Android's choose the right device for you model, Go figure.

Well im pro choice, but in terms of developers from what I see they tend to agree. It's easier for them to make an app that just works for IOS 4 as compared to making an app thats compatible with Android 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. Not to mention they have to take account for things like processor speed, etc. That's one of the main reasons they will pretty much always get the major apps before we do.
I prefer Android as an OS over IOS.. and ive had an iphone before but app wise thats one thing I was kinda spoiled about when I made the switch.

Google Goggles does this minus the augmented reality.
Been playing with it and it's pretty cool. Translations are kind of goofy but still okay. Overall a cool app to show off but Goggles is better for actual use.

The app is free but each language pack is going to start at five bucks apiece, then ten bucks after the first of the year.
-Not worth the money-
Google translate does a fine job of translating words, has loads of languages, and it's free. So you don't get the geek factor of taking a pic to get a translation, but typing the characters will always beat OCR accuracy-wise, don't you guys think?

Forget cell phones, I want to see this built into a pair of glasses.

iOS outnumbers Android by something like 5:1. Even if you do only phones it's like 3:1, Android has marginally surpassed the iPhone in sales per month but the iPhone (not mention iTouch/iPad) has a massive install base.

this assumes there are no people out there with older iPhones. except there are. and sometimes apps for the new version won't work for them.

I tried the goggles thing and its nowhere near as useful as this. Not even close.

Hate to say it, I'll always be Android! But Iphone apps own Androids right now, and it isn't even close.

Hello guys my carrier is sending me an iPhone 4 but I can't decide to keep it or sell it and buy Sgs2? Cause I had lots of bad experience with apple before. And have x10 now that I'm happy with but want something better and new.

Hm I would sell it and either wait for an iPhone 5 June/July or take the SGS II. It is just about your needs. Big hands and gorgeous screen --> SGS II

I would sell the iPhone 4 if you are comfortable with an x10. A sealed box will sell for a good price. Then you can wait for the SGS2. The iPhone 5 probably won't be announced until June, which is quite a while. I wouldn't buy anything right now though, since the stuff on the market right now isn't really an upgrade from what you already have.

Most of the stuff you will get here is android fans, but in reality apple has much better hardware than anything on android (my opinion). The OS, well they are pretty similar, if you want your phone to just work apple all the way, if you want to customized then go android.
Just be aware that iPhone can also be customized by jailbreaking.
I have a 3GS that's almost 2 years old and it's working as good as day one.

Reality and personal opinion don't mix sadly. Anyway, depends what you mean by "hardware". Apple A4 was Samsung's Hummingbird, just with a lower clock and a slower GPU. Overall build quality may be better... until it falls and you're left with cracked glass all over the phone. Antennagate? Not sure about the much better now...
Software and integration is another story, that's where iOS definitely wins.

It's all relative to needs.
Sure, the iP is a pretty piece of hardware backed up but the brand fandom. everyone has it, everyone wants one.
As far as jailbreaking goes, the cat and mouse update/jailbreak game with apple gets old really fast... Every update of iOS patches something that dev team fixes and then they fix it and apple releases another update and .... you get the idea.
Jailbreaking every two months, playing with the unlocked baseband and risking ending up with a brick is no fun.
Personally I've decided to move away from every apple product, because apple doesn't necessarily have the greatest most advanced hardware, what they do have is massive marketing department with lots of talented people to make people want those devices (just look at apple product placement in the media).
In the end, it's a matter of usability, preference and what works for the individual; at this point in time, the iP4 is clearly outdated compared (hardware wise) to the devices coming out right now or in the coming month (Atrix, SGS2, etc...) and they will have had 6-7 months to prepare and get the iP5 design ready and produced by June-July-Sept with better hardware based on what they saw coming out from the competition at the CES and other events. By the time apple is done promoting their revolutionary iP5, Motorola, HTC and Samsuncg will have come up with somthing better based on the iP5 specs...
The cel phone war will never end, it will be the eternal peeing contest between large companies. As far as the consumer is concerned, we're just trapped in a vicious cycle we have created.
For me what weighs in, is the ability to have full control of my device. Therefore iP is a no go and thus a lesser device in my perception. Atrix was on top of the list until the Moto fiasco with the signed bootloader. The remaining option is the SGS2 depending on how easy it will be to update without relying on Samsung to do so.
On a side note, I've been using a iP3G since it came out and haven't upgraded the device, so I've been with it for almost 4 years; and seeing all these new android devices coming out everyday makes me hate it more day by day.
Android, for me, offers many more possibilities of growth than iOS will ever be able give me. I am not limited by a company as far as what I can do with the hardware that I hold in my hands.

I would rather take an operating system that is designed to let me do anything to it per my own needs and requirements than one that is marketed to the masses for mass consumption. There is nothing wrong with either, it is all preference. Apps fail to interest me as I have a busy and fun enough life to not care about too many of them In fact many people around me have pages of apps which i rarely see being launched except for the odd score checking/email app.
There is no point in comparison of the phone. In fact I would like it if Android makes its own features and chooses its direction instead of following iOS.

Well I would say to just use for a little while and see if you like it. If you do, great. If you don't, sell it.
Either way you could sell one now or keep both and sell both layer then the SG2 comes out.

The new iOS has widgets, and u can chose your own keyboard plus many software changes. Admittedly copied from Android.
I'm considering.... I don't use the s. pen much or most of the bloat ware.. The camera on the iPhone will be great plus I luv the way it's all (apps and data) backed up (to do this on Android I have to root and lose my warranty) . I have found my note 3 to be good but the new iPhone could be great... Are you thinking of changing?

Hell no.

I used to say if Apple ever released an iPhone with 5inch screen or more I'd probably return. However, not so much now - I own an iPad Mini and can't really see much benefit to using another Apple product. Plus with my flashing addiction now, it'll never happen.

I was with iPhone from the beginning until the S3 came out, that was when I first switched over to Android, but Android has come so far now, where as iOS is falling behind. if you could flash custom ROMS on iOS... then I could be tempted back.. There's certainly no denying Apple Hardware is pretty damn good. (or run Android on Apple Hardware, I think this may be possible one day - especially as you can run windows on a MAC)

don't forget some of the chip is manufactured by samsung
and Samsung is coming out with its Tizen o/s.
don't know how it looks like in deep, might be the same with iOS.

Nah, can't stand iOS now after using Android for so long... Have an iPad 4th gen and i hardly use that because i find iOS to be just eurgh... Used to be an Apple fanboy a while back... Never again i'm afraid...

No I won't. The thought has crossed my mind many times but no. I won't go back to the horror called iTunes or not being able to download stuff even via safari (I used to have both an iPhone 4 and a Galaxy s1). Back then I'd have to admit IOS was better than Android. Nowadays since jellybean I wouldn't recommend IOS over anything. The fact that you will be limited in every sense of the word still makes it a big NO for me. Just my 2c.

Despite the rumors, I don't think apple will release the 5.5 inches screen, only the 4.7 one and a tweak on the iPhone 5S. They will not be as stupid as to lose the size their user base loves so much... I mean, with all the BS on one hand operation we've had to put up with for so long, they wouldn't be as dumb as to pass on that, right?
Apple is copying many of the best Android features, making itself more attractive to Android users, but in all honesty, it's not enough.
Like aluminum? The HTC one m8 is better, larger, sports better sound, and has all the Android stuff apple has not copied yet. Like better looks? The LG G3 is just amazing... Then there is price... Flagship material like the one plus one or the find 7 are half the price of the iPhone, with better specs and way more flexibility.
I don't know, I really don't see any reason to move to Apple.
