Agree with the guy above....Seriousley i mean did you think no one knew that the HTC HD2 is the best phone in the world??!! I mean i'll bet you Steve jobs secretly has a HTC HD2 .
>>>>>>>>>>>>>K>>I>>>N>>>>G>>>>>HTC HD2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Yeah this really is in the wrong area but I must agree that this is the greatest all around phone ever created. Two years later it is still going strong, eventually it will not be able to compete with newer phones as more cores are added and Android & WP7 evolves but for right now we are still relevent.
Thanks to XDA for extending the life of HTC's greatest achievment as well as all the older devices that are still supported.

Well this not courtesy HTC but the Awesome Dev's here on XDA
Yes it's awesome and its already an "old" phone but it's still as good as the newer phones
Okay dualcore is missing but ram of the tmous version and the rest is the same like the desire hd2 and the os I can use are great
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Premium App
Agreed a front camera and dual core is all this bad boy needs... I wonder what things would be like if it was stuck on WM6.5 tho
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
i agree 100%. I have choosen it because it had the biggest screen and thanks to great people on this forum(replaced winmo with android) I now have the best phone.
I have it for about a year and people around me bought newer phones, but they still envy my phone. I think its really hard to be happy these days as commercials pump our brains with irrelevant data...
Yea, agreed! I was deciding on an iPhone 3GS and HTC HD2 when I went to sign up for a mobile contract a year and a half ago, glad I took up the HD2 and never looked back.
I love to HTC HD2. and its always best ... even their are lots of new smart phones in the market...
Agreed with everything on this thread (... best phone ... wrong thread etc). If I could add anything to my phone, it would be HDMI-out, but that's only really as a novelty feature rather than something I would use often.
I really can't see myself upgrading until my HD2 breaks or something truly revolutionary comes along. Dual-core may be it, but I have no reason to upgrade until they are either a bit cheaper or better utilised.
I really hope the phone remains powerful enough for Ice Cream Sandwich and newer Senses, because it's truly wonderful hardware.
HTC needs to improve it with the front face camera ...etc and make a HD3
Front camera would be great, but i want better main camera.
My HD2 still gives me much L.O.V.E and now with Android on it shiiiiiit
Peace

Simply the best!!!!
i dont even want a dual core processor. the only thing i want to be better on my phone is the digitizer, and the screen.
rly, the glitchy multitouch and touchdelay pisses me off in games.. i want a fast touchscreen like newer devices ;(
but thats the only point..
HTC should make a phone especially for XDA. the HD2 XDA edition!!! with something like the same hardware as the sensation has, just in a HD2 body.. <3

Well, the pros of owning an HD2 is Froyo ROMs are readily available. Bigger screen. More RAM. And soon NAND flash make Android even more seemless.
On the other hand, Xperia X10 is a nice looking phone SE sure know how to make them.
Personally, I would ditch the X10. Its a nice phone and everything, but this is an exciting development. I rarely have any hiccups in android anymore and the battery life has stabilized after having run it as the primary o/s for so long. With every update it gets better, and looking forward to the future, there are more updates and o/s's to think about! But if gadget tinkering isn't your thing, I highly suggest you stick with a phone you like stock!
Please Understand that if you do get a hd2 you get it knowing that android is and will be beta for a very long time. also not all users experience the same results.
That being said I love my hd2 and probably wouldnt trade it for the world. I dont use wifi tether at the moment so if it doesnt work I dont care. I dont really use bt headsets so i havent tried to get it working but that is hit or miss.
Sense you are already use to android It wont be so bad. Alot of people are use to windows and are trying to make it function the same way.
I did the same perfect deal, good to have multtouch again, and the hd2 on android is faster then x10 !. It;s not perfect but hey you always have winmo
I sold my Samsung Galaxy S for an HD2
Would never look back, runs smoother amazingly but this is true, found the Galaxy S had lots of lags and halts, but I believe froyo is coming soon for it.
The screen is larger and more controller over the brightness settings.
The HD2 is made so well and has a superb camera and flash.
You get the best XDA development there is, there is some much to do, from hundreds of WM ROMS, to a massive Android development, not sure any other device offers this much.
I would go for it, but it takes a while to get into the hd2, read lots on here, be patient and enjoy.
Don't do it. Get a "real" Android phone instead, like the upcoming Desire HD.
Hi all thanks for ur help I got the hd2 ive got froyo running and I'm loving it and the phone the screen is more responsive and know I can see what all the fuss about mt is too can't wait for nand now

I have an HTC desire but I saw the HD2 screen is huge, Compared to desire but than desire has the Amoled and hd2 only simple tft.
I was leened over to exchange it with the Desire , but after seeing these facts I don't know . .
What about NexusOne, which is better ? Nexus or Desire ?
Sent from my HTC LeeDroid 2.2 using my swyping thumb!
the nexus ist the desire with two little differences. desire has a optical trackpad, nexus a mechanical and the other thing is that the desire comes with the sense ui where the nexus comes with plain 2.1.
apart of that the desire (amoled) has the same hardware as the nexus. but you have to be careful to get a amoled and not one of the newer series with s-lcd. i don't want to say that s-lcd is not as good as the amoled, i really like both.

sony vs hd2? no question.
even when hd2 runs it only from sd card
Definately, i swapped my HD2 for the x10 and came straight back to the HD2 as soon as android was available never regretted it
Ricey
Don't knock the simple tft screen, easy to read in direct sunlight, the HD2 screen is perfectly sensitive also, may not have the multi touch capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S, but neither do the Nexus or Desire.
I'd say the HD2 has best of all worlds, still cant beat that huge HD2 screen
You should definitely get HTC Desire HD (after 8th of october)
You can define it as an HD2 with real android.
With hibernate mode, desire hd boots in a few secons after power off.
HD2 nand Android should be near perfect within 1-3 months. You will constantly need to work on it till everybody gets perfect android. It should be cheaper but you must be patient, if you want android hd2 like desire hd.
Froyo is huge difference in android terms and desire hd is the only phone with hd2 screen/hardware and has native froyo.
Hmm ok . So u guys are saying I should switch to HD2 from my desire ? Im a full.android boy, so android would run pretty much like on desire or no some lag or worse battery?
How about the 720p video recording ?
And also one more thing, The colours ? Are they as vibrant in nature on the HD2 as they r on the Desires led?

Ahhh I don't have my HD2 yet but im pretty sure that based on everything ive read the HD2 has multitouch. At the very least it has dual touch.
As far as swapping the X10 for HD2, im doing it. Im keeping my X10 though. The dual boot thing has really got me interested in the HD2. The only issue that im worried about with the HD2 is the gsensor issues while running android.

Both of those are downgrades, IMO. Why would you want to take a step backwards device-wise, even for a little extra money? Remorse is sure to ensue.
Vibrant is cheap plastic, and lots of issues with that phone (CPU lag, major GPS problems) and there is less developer support on XDA for Samsung phones. HD2 is old hardware, that phone was released Nov. 2009.
Check out this post by another guy that traded his G2 for the Vibrant, and totally regrets it. Don't be him.

Than try Desire HD, HD7, Evo Shift, Thunderbolt or something similar, but not outdated phones like HD2 ;-) And Samsung is not a choice at all IMO. Low quality, cheap plastic, disposable toys. They could'nt even make their own design and copy-cat'ed an iPhone.

If you like trying new phones, the HD2 doesn't qualify. Its a very old phone. 14 month old hardware may as well be 10 years in the smartphone business.
And a Android port is never going to run as well as a phone that is designed to run Android natively. So don't think that you will really have an Android phone on your hands if you buy an HD2 and flash an Android port. Old hardware that runs a very outdated OS, that also has the ability to run an Android port = not worth it.
I'm actually getting an HD2 to run Android and ditching my G2. It has the same hardware as my N1, which is running wonderfully and is a year old now, so I am not worried. I want the big screen, dual LED flash, and the Desire HD ROM. I've been waiting for T-Mo to announce a 4.3" HTC phone but who knows if it'll even happen at MWC so I am using the HD2 to hold me over until one ever comes to T-Mo.
just thought i'd let you guys know, i got the hd2 and am now running CM7 on NAND. its amazing. i love it
I had the hd2 before i got my z and it is a good phone with good support on xda. I just couldnt get used to its size. The z just "feels" better.
Typing on my ThunderBolt right now. But I want to pay homage to the beastly hd2. Thanks hd2 and the devs of course for allowing me to run all those damn oses very smoothly. My HTC hd2 still have newer stuff like sense 2.1 and gingerbread while my ThunderBolt does not. Am still keeping my HTC hd2 as a software test device but am using my ThunderBolt more because no matter how many devs work on it, i felt like there was always some lags and oh my gosh reboots because once i would put a sense rom on it, it would run great for awhile until after a few days all hell broke loose. Its still not as fast as my thunderbolt everything is much more cleaner and faster with ThunderBolt..(I know its a brand new phone). But compare to my evo their both the same speed wise if not faster than evo. that's why I sold my evo and kept my hd2 and my hd2 had updated sense. But now with my ThunderBolt at hand I feel like I've finally find a device I can use to put my hd2 to rest. But thanks to devs and the community in the hd2 thread its because of the hd2 that I now got the ThunderBolt because I was used to sense from my hd2. Thanks guys

Dude hats of to you for such a respectful post. It is good to see some one pay homage to the HTC HD2 as it is still, and will be for a long time, the king of the hill when it comes to smartphone devices in my opinion. It is also good to see some one give the proper thanks deserved of the devs that have made the HD2 legendary.
I was wondering though if you could give eeveryone here including me you honest thoughts and opinion on the Thunderbolt. Hint this may possible be my next device.
You mean to tell me a native android phone with the latest specs is somehow superior than an HD2 that wasn't made with android in mind?!
Enjoy your TB, OP. It's a great phone from the short amount of time that I've got to play with it.

Thunderbolt is great phone but battery could be better. slcd is amazing dude very vibrant color. Wow also the second generation snapdragon is a beast you won't wait for anything to load everything from switching apps to watching movies its truly amazing no matter how many apps I open not a hiccup from the phone, also front facing camera is a plus thought it was a gimmick until i started video chatting a lot. Also one thing I think is weird is that htcsense.com is not included that's means not HTC hub, location, etc. Don't know what HTC did to the 8 mp camera but damn everything is so clear and let's say I try to take a fuzzy picture with the rear camera before the camera takes the pic it does something to make the pic come out the best quality possible. You won't be disappointed here. Damn almost forgot 4g faster than my broadband home connection it helps the thunderbolt feels so freaking fast because apps just downloads instantaneously, apps sync instantaneously but its at a price battery 4g will rape your battery so quick but don't listen to the rep that say you can't turn off 4g simple app in the market to keep it on 3g. Build quality what can I say its the best possible its the reason why we buy HTC products. But overall its great fast device. Once you get use to 4g you won't go back. Besides htcsense.com not included don't know why and battery drain quick you won't regret it.

Am not saying that in my opinion if I could update the specs in the hd2 that would be my phone forever. Not comes close to what the hd2 as done and is still doing. Am just saying it was time for me to try something new and that thanks to the dev and the hd2 I was able to pick the best device in the market now. I will never part from my hd2, will sell it. The hd2 runs Android close to or better than newer devices. I compare my HTC hd2 which come out year before my EVO and I was already running sense 2.1 and was running faster than my EVO that come out yrs after. I got to try that failed OS they called Windows phone 7 instead of spending 600+ on a phone that I was gonna regret hd2 saved me from that. The only that bugs is to think that if Microsoft was on top of their game they would dominate the phone market nobody could to these guys windows mobile was good to me but damn its sucks a time performance wise. They come out with a feature less OS 50yrs later like everybody would go crazy about it. To little to late Microsoft.

If you are looking for development, then look at the Incredible S / Desire S rather than the Rhyme. IMO, it won't pick up as much as the other 2 I listed, and development will not be that much (Eg - Check Salsa / Wildfire S, Practically Zero Dev, and Rhyme doesn't have a section of it's own yet). As for WP, I have no idea honestly. Your best bet is to visit some of the WP7 devices and check for the level of development on their respective fora.

You were already told that if development is a priority, then stick with Android, and avoid the Rhyme. If you need more specifics, your queries have to be more specific.
Anyways, read this thread for differences between WP7 and Android:

And check the HD7 WP Development Zone, among the most popular zones for WP Devices, you can't expect a vast variety of Custom ROMs/kernels like you do with Android:

Thanx for reply everyone....I was looking for incredible s by I didn't like it much how about desire HD,sensation and evo 3d
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Evo 3D is seriously overpriced. Are you sure you are ready to spend 35K on what is essentially a gimmick? That apart, the phone itself is pretty good. Same goes for Sensation, which is a good phone in itself. (Although there are quality issues, like the touch screen stops responding, the headphone jack stops working etc - There ARE fixes available, detailed on XDA itself, but when I spend 30K on a phone, I would expect better quality). Besides, with a budget of 28-30K, I would definitely pick the Galaxy S2 over the Sensation. There's probably a reason why it's among the worlds best selling high end phones, and the Sensation is nowhere close to it.
Of that 3 you just listed, I would pick the Desire HD, simply because it's good Value for money (It *should* be, I am not too sure what the price of one is anymore. I *think* the Incredible S replaced it, so availability can be an issue), and, it has one of the strongest dev communities here on XDA without doubt.

I would wait for a couple of months. Prices will drop significantly with the ICS releases.
If you can't wait just get an HTC with android. So you can have a chance to choose between sense and aosp. desire s makes sense. shouldn't depreciate much in value.
So in light of the following news are HTC going to bring out something special or just quietly dye by the way side?

Bear in mind the current fiasco with ICS and the Desire HD.
So are you going to jump the HTC ship?
Ya well, the one series was a miss with consumers at large ,can't imagine what would have happened if the one x for example had sd card storage and a battery access
We can only hope they die a quick but painful death.
... unless they release ics source code then i don't care what they do.

I am already planning my jump over to Samsung rightly or wrongly, but they are talking about launching JB on the S3 and even the S2 in the very near future! And from what I have seen they seem to deliver what they say!
Well I wouldn't want them to die, afterall competition is always good, however I've decided that my DHD shall be my last HTC phone after all that has happened. I'm contemplating on waiting for the next Google phone, immediate updates and a bugless AOSP experience, what else could one ask for?
That is what you get when you mess with all the HTC Desire HD owners!!! Not releasing ICS for their most sold phone and telling their costumers lies about HTC Desire HD performance. And the same with HTC Desire.

That is the general consensus I am feeling form this thread

It’s a shame that a company with a lot of promise has now just peed of its fan base and almost washed their hand of them.
If you look at the number of ROMs in the development thread you can see that people pretty much rooted their HTC Desire HD as soon as they got them as the hardware far out preformed the software that was loaded and any potential update (although we all knew these wouldn’t come to light! lol )

Don't forget Samsung is from South Korea, so why keep spending money on SK if you know that "everyone" in SK has a Samsung phone :silly:
I hope they won't cancel the ICS update for developers. They had the same problem with Gingerbread update for the Desire.
They never released it as an OTA update, but they released it for developers.
So let's hope they do the same with Desire HD (in the future).
About One-series. It's indeed a sad story, but I think why most people didn't bought the One-phones was because most of them were probably waiting to see the Galaxy SIII and it seems that the SIII is the number one choice now for lots of Android users.
That or the New Galaxy Nexus (fingers crossed it won’t be produced by HTC) that will ruin the Nexus name IMO

But after I read so much informations from early adopter of One X about how bad is the HTC's quality control over One X hardware productions I hold my decisions to upgrade because I don't wanna spend my time dealing with HTC service center.

Well I wouldn't want them to die, afterall competition is always good, however I've decided that my DHD shall be my last HTC phone after all that has happened. I'm contemplating on waiting for the next Google phone, immediate updates and a bugless AOSP experience, what else could one ask for?

Tierd of htc, they were the best option when i bought my dhd. The new one series cant beat s3 imo. Im going for nexus next, nothing beats (not even s3) the new android stock interface.
