heyy....i have a dell streak 5 android 2.2.
this problem started 2 weeks ago. half of the screen would not respond to any king of touch. only half of the screen functions properly.
the diaplay is perfectly fine, but only half of the screen would respond to touch.
can anybody tell me what the problem could be??
I assume you attempted a factory reset and all that jazz? Get a hold of Dell. There's a hardware issue with your screen.
Calibrate it

Well i think my Polaris has finally given me the finger.
The touch screen no longer responds to finger/stylus presses. If i press randomly for long enough it does register a click, but never in the right spot or consistently.
What do you think it could be?
Ive tried reloading different roms that have worked perfectly before, hard resets, and ive even tried taking it apart and reconnecting the connectors.
It was dropped a few days ago but it was fine, then one day, while doing nothing in particular it decided to stop responding to touch input, the normal buttons work fine.
My XDA Orbit2 (same as Cruise) has the same problemccasional freezing and touch screen decalibration (needs to be recalibrated every 5 min). problem is that this occurs infrequently. therefore i have lost hope that sending in for repair would work.....
i have a same problem..
my polaris's touch screen sometimes not responding to any touch.
i have to connect it to my computer or battery charger, and then it will work again.
can anybody explain to me why??
thanx before
same happened to me last week! well, its on its way to o2 service partner right now... guess it was supposed to brake in about 7months from now.

Hi!
I broke my touchscreen (Tytn2) and replaced it with a touchscreen from ebay for 10 €.
It works, but there are some problems:
1. I have to press very strong onto the screen for a signal!
2. On the edges i have to press very very strong - even stronger then in the middle.
3. the signal itself is on the right position......
4. i have already tried to reset the sensitivity of the touchscreen (and increase/decrease it)
5. i have already aligned the screen several times....
My questions are:
1. is it installed well?? (I had to connect 4 pins on my own.....)
2. if it gets the right signal (but only when I´m pressing very strong), can there be anything wrong with the connectors?
PLEASE HELP ME!
greetings!
Well i was SO close to just giving up and buying a new phone.
I found however, an entire brand new housing for the low low price of $65 AUS. I could of just bought the digitizer for about $30.
When i look at the devices out there...they arent that great...i was going to get a Nokia E72 but realised i would miss the touch input.
So i will suffer along with my touch cruise, checking these forums for updates on the Android progress
ANd ill have a spiffy new case to boot.
My 02 Orbit 2 touch screen has stopped working also - I found that a temporary solution is to hold the top of the screen tightly over the earpiece
It would register touches, enough to Flash back to Original ROM
It Going back to 02 this weekend.
For the past few weeks the touchscreen on my HD2 has been sporadically going haywire. It almost always occured after a hardware button was pressed or if the phone was put into standby. The touchscreen would stop registering any presses as if the digitizer had gone belly up. To get it to start working again, You either had to restart the phone or spend a few moments fiddling with the hardware buttons and tapping the screen.
A few hours ago I took the phone apart to see if I could discover the problem and now it does not work at all.
I have noticed that ever since this problem started sometimes the LCD would not display the correct colors. Almost as if it had Yellow and Blue but no Red. Oddly flexing the phone immediately fixed this problem.
What do you guys think the chances are that it is just the LCD/digitizer that is shot? I would like some reassurance before spending $100 on this part.

Sounds like it to me... had this happen to my G1 last year
Hi all, I'm on my second 101 now (first had a broken speaker) however I have a problem and I'm not sure if it's a faulty device or if I should go through the ordeal of a full reset. Basically the device seems to loose screen calibration very very quickly. Some times when waking the device from sleep there is a touch screen dead spot n the middle of the screen. Running screen calibration instantly corrects this 90% of the time however 30mins later the same dead spot is back. I had a similar problem with the first one but upgrading to the latest update sorted my issues.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Any suggetions for helping the device to hold its calibration longer?
Should I do a full reset?!
Another defective unit perhaps??
Sounds defective to me. The only time I've calibrated my screen was when I had to as part of the initial setup. It's never lost calibration yet after set up.
My auto rotate is crazy any issues
It seems my new archos 101 auto rotates all over the place. any issues from anyone else. it seems to want to go to landscape with the Archos 101 upside down.
Hi all,
I've had my Archos 101 since early last month, had no issues whatsoever with the touch screen, until that is I upgraded to 2.1.08, now it is becoming somewhat unresponsive at times.
It's only an intermittent issue, and just like Explore's unit I never had to calibrate until then, working like a dream. So, perhaps there's a bug somewhere in the latest Archos firmware?
I have a little workaround for that problem:
see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332323
its an app to give you instant access to the touch screen recalibration.
cheers!
Had this phone since release and never had a problem with it until today.
A dead spot on the screen appeared. It's a full 1 inch bar across the middle of the screen. It doesn't respond to anything across that area
Is there any fix to this besides replacing the screen?
i would say try a hard reset... and if that fails... sorry bro
Call dell and get them to replace the phone
I called dell and they said it's not fixable so they're sending me a replacement this week!
Hi. I have had my Nexus 7 for quite a while now and so fdar it had worked perfectly. However today the touchscreen wouldnt work, even after many restarts. Then it suddenly started working again. I flashed back to stock and till then everything was working good again. However once I flashed a custom rom again the thouch screen got messed up and it was as if I was touching the screen when I wasnt. Does anyone know what's going on with my tablet ?
Thanks
I was mistaken when I thought it was related to software and I found the real issue. When applying pressure on the left side of the frame of the tablet, the screen will start registering touvhes on it's own. Upon using Multitouch Visualizer I noticed that after i pressed the left frame of the screen, the tablet would register touches on the far right of the screen on it's own. Is there any way I can fix this ?
