Touchscreen Issue - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have had my Nexus 7 for quite a while now and so fdar it had worked perfectly. However today the touchscreen wouldnt work, even after many restarts. Then it suddenly started working again. I flashed back to stock and till then everything was working good again. However once I flashed a custom rom again the thouch screen got messed up and it was as if I was touching the screen when I wasnt. Does anyone know what's going on with my tablet ?
Thanks

I was mistaken when I thought it was related to software and I found the real issue. When applying pressure on the left side of the frame of the tablet, the screen will start registering touvhes on it's own. Upon using Multitouch Visualizer I noticed that after i pressed the left frame of the screen, the tablet would register touches on the far right of the screen on it's own. Is there any way I can fix this ?

Touch screen not working

I'm sorta new and not exactly sure how to submit questions.
I installed the SPB mobile shell on my elfin htc and now the touch features don't work and my phone won't sleep without what appears to be the backlight on. Can someone provide some directions on how to fix this? Can't get to the bootloader either.
if you reset your device, can't it boot up into windows mobile?
if it boots up, why not connect it to the pc and try removing the last app through activesync?
if there isn't anything that important on the device, did you think of a hard reset?
Thanks for the quick response, however, I did do a soft reset, the screen is not responding (completely frozen). I've already removed the program, I thought was the culprit (spb mobile shell). I did a backup, but without touch features, I can't restore backup. I can't do a hard reset that's not working properly either. Any additional ideas, I'm at a complete lost.
Hi
Touchscreen of my HTC Touch (P3452) stopped working. I tired following:
- hard reset
- hard reset successful, then It asked me to tap the screen for alignment then I tap, it worked but on Calibrate screen where you align your screen touch is not working. nothing is happening after that even power button is not working. my Touch is not hanged coz if I touch the screen after It goes to sleep, the backlight will turn on.
So I though may be something wrong with the original ROM, then I tired flashing it with cooked ROM's but nothing worked.
I am still stuck at calibiration screen
-
Plz help, I miss my HTC Touch (P3452) so much!!!
If your touchscreen is not working, there could be only 2 solutions.
- Get a digitizer off dealextreme.com
- Hard reset device.
my $0.02.
Cheers.
What's a digitzer and what does it do? I've looked in cell phone accessories and did a search on dealextreme.com, however, unable to locate such an item. Can you provide a little more detail. Desperately trying to get this phone to work and right now this appears to be the only solution. Hard reset isn't working.

Come on, Google man!
http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.506~search.htc touch digitizer
Digitizer is a 'panel' which is above the LCD, which senses where your hand is at on the phone.
Something like this:

It is just something which sense where is your fingers are in the touchscreen.
Hi toot-b:
I had a similar problem a few days ago. My screen stopped working completely. I gave it a few taps and a squeeze and it started working.
After a while it stopped working again and did not respond to the squeezing too. Then out of desperation, I tried searching the internet. One guy had given the most idiotic explanation I've ever come across.
He had advised to take a blade and peel away the LCD screen and after taking the screen away, to rub the copper contacts with the blade and then putting it back in!!!
Well, I was really really desperate and I had to try it. I didn't remove the screen completely. I just took the screen off a wee little bit on the bottom right corner near the camera button. I kinda got scared after that and put it back in.
To my surprise, the touch screen started working perfectly and till now its doing great. Try it at your own risk. All the best!!!!

[Q] hero in winter

During the cold times i got huge problems with my screen... I'm not able to press "L"
and also the border of the screen got huge problems to respond on my touch, and sometimes the screen starts to jump from left to right.. but when i lock the screen and the 'task killer' kills some apps (FB, google search) then it oks.. any suggestions, tips ? I'm using FroydVillain 1.7.2
Have you tried wiping (full wipe) and installing a new ROM? that might help, although its unlikely to really. I sounds to me like a failing touch panel, but I'm no expert
I started having the same problems after flashing cronos 009, but then my little boy had pressed the screen a bit as well so don't know what did it
same problem like you but i had problems with letters 'M' and the backspace arrow
I flashed the original Htc rom and it kinda improved a bit
I rerooted and tries other roms and still had to problem
Now what I did was hard reset my hero and running the official Htc rom and its a lot better now atleast the screen aint jumping anymore.
I still have root but decided no more custom roms for me now
how cold its winter for you?
please what is bottom level degrees for hero working and magic also?
ty!
Is it just the bottom of the screen, that isn't reacting correctly? It might also be a hardware issue of the touchscreen... I had this some time ago, seems to be a common problem/bug among heroes... but that shouldn't have to do anything with temperature. Just to let you know, in case it gets worse...
I had the same thing as you, only I had it all the time, when the screen gets warm (charging) then it worked fine (not moving by its self) , but I the bottom of the touch screen was totally dead, I had to rotate 180 to type and use the trackball to reach the menus :-D . A while after the track ball was almost totally busted, I purchased a new digitizer on eBay, it works perfectly, (this post is the evidence..) I had to open and move the connector about 10 times before it worked well, but this definitively fixed it
Hope this helps
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I had this exact same behaviour but I hadn’t attributed it to the cold weather. The stock ROM seemed fine but any custom ROM had the issue. Anyway I sent it back to HTC under warranty and they replaced it with one that works fine.
I heared this same stuff about the iPod. When putting it at a window when its very cold it brakes the screen.

Touchscreen problem

Hello,
Was wondering if anyone could give me an idea on a issue im trying to fix with my acer tablet a500. I had replace the a500 motherboard with a a501 everything works like it should but I came across and issue with my touchscreen that theres a spot on the screen that wont seem to work while rest of the screen works fine.
For Example
Say im using the keyboard on the tablet I can hit most buttons but like the K button for example wont work as if its not detecting that im pressing the button while rest of the screen works. If I rotate the screen same spot will not work while rest of the screen works fine. I have took it apart so many times so im not afraid to disassemble the whole thing. I did drop it and I noticed were the screen connection strap has a tear in it and was wondering if that would cause this problem.
Any ideas on how to go about fixing this would be great.
If the flat cable is damaged, it's the most probable cause for the malfunctioning of the touch screen. You should try to replace the cable, or, if not possibile, the whole touch screen.

Unresponsive Touchscreen

Anyone having touch screen only issues? There's not a single crack on screen, I've always treated the phone very well.
I'm thinking whether I should replace the whole front, but curiously only my touch screen is not working, display is OK and works well using SideSync. Also, the entire touch screen starts working at random times (I haven't been able to figure out the conditions, it's not hot/cold or pressure; I've used a hair dryer, a refrigerator and heavy items on top of it).
In fact, it worked for a month after it started malfunctioning (initially it didn't work for some hours, and then worked again). But now it got worse again. It's not software as I've tried XtreStoLite and now I'm back to stock. Should I replace the whole thing?
Oh, I have the G900H.
Sounds like a bad digitizer. It would be wise to shop for a new one before it goes out completely.

Touch screen occasionally unresponsive

Hi,
I own an Oneplus 2 for over a year now, in which I had to replace it's display two times . The first time I ordered a new display+digitizer assembly and replaced it myself, went great and everything worked fine. The second time was a month ago, I ordered the exact same display from the exact same seller on Ebay and did the replacement. I tested the display before assembling the Phone and it worked as it should. But an hour later when the phone was already assembled I discovered that the touch screen was completely unresponsive
After some trial and error I came to this conclusion:
the problem seems to be caused by applying a mild pressure anywhere on the bottom right quarter of the screen
the display does always respond when I hold my finger on it (with or without applying pressure) for about 4 seconds, then it sees my finger and I can swipe around (while still holding it down)
if I try the method above a few times, or let the phone rest on a desk for some time, the problem disappears and the touch screen works fine again.
So far, it looks like a hardware-issue, maybe a faulty screen or I messed something up while replacing it. But it gets weirder:
My OP2 is rooted and at the moment of replacement, it was running Lineage OS 14.1 (nightly, 2017-03-30). And when I wanted to update that to it's newest build, I realized that this whole touch screen problem doesn't exist in the TWRP recovery interface. It worked perfectly fine even when I tried to recreate the problem by applying firm pressures on every spot on the screen. So this made it look more like a software-issue, however the update of Lineage didn't resolve it and even restoring my backup of OxygenOS 3.5.6 didn't help.
I found this XDA-post about having firmware issues for the touchscreen with Android 7, but running their fix did not resolve anything either.
Right now my phone is pretty unusable since having it in my pocket is creating the problem. :crying:
Does anyone have any ideas of what the exact problem could be? Or anyone having similar issues? Why is it that there is no problem at all when booting into recovery (TWRP)?
It looks like loose connections between the display and digitizer.
After all it was a hardware issue. I disambled the phone again and after a lot of trial and error I found that there was something that came in contact with the back of the lcd that must have created a short cicuit or something. I placed a thin sheet of paper on the back of the lcd to prevent this and it all worked again! Still weird though that it didn't happen in TWRP.
