So when i install the base, I boot to the unlock screen and cannot get the screen to unlock due to screen inaccuracy. When I try to flash the port I receive an error and the installation aborts.
So, now that ICS has been released to AOSP, do you think these small bugs will be worked out?

The nexus source was released. In Git terms, it is just one branch.
And apparently I am going to have disappearing ink...(meaning you all get to miss my witty responses to the random comments)

Not sure if I know what I am doing, but when the poop hits the propeller, I have never had to build source that wasn't already at least somewhat modified for my device.
I got all the proprietary stuff, the countless extra common additions, and now it seems I have to go find all the hardware build parts missing because all we got was a nexus layout and dashed hopes of much more.
It may or may not be realistic to just merge in the missing parts, but at least it is a good start. Everything is configured to work, it just wants some stuff I am still downloading.

I downloaded and built ICS today. However, it is based on a 3.0 kernel and HTC hasn't released the source for that yet. It would make things go a lot faster if they release it soon.

I am starting a fund to get a Nexus S and port directly from the device. After looking over this source, that seems to be more realistic than attempting to rewrite the entire thing.

I will post every detail I can, but I will admit a lot of it is currently mixed in with DHD and Dinc, as we have been working as one team instead of separate devices. I will make a point to link up what has been going on soon. That was overlooked on my part.
The builds in the first post are functional, but the version being built from source should not and will not be a [email protected]$$ rip -off of another device. That is costing time...

While I do not always agree with the Mods on this forum, I have been in contact with the one keeping a watch over this forum and he has a good understanding of what is and isnt relevant. He responded to make a valid point because a lot of the posts that have been removed are the direct result of not reading the first post. There have been MANY posts throughout the entire site pushing for releases only days after the initial release of a partial source. I think it is best you keep in mind, that nothing he said is directly rude unless you choose to read it that way.
To read up on a lot of the details of what is going on, a lot of the work is better documented http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361

Just look at the nexus one forum, full of cm7 nag-bang roms.
Its really not that hard to compile...I was just about to now that I see it works. I was doing it on my N1 for personal use (crack-fiend nightlies lol), and now that I have my Inc, I'm doing the same.
I follow what you're saying. What I meant to get across is that I would rather wait for someone else to release something.

curiosity almost killed this cat. had flashed that numnut's rom (because I am an idiot) - the rom would not install (aborted on some issues, typical of jd) and after that none of the nandroids would restore either - they would abort at restoring system - tried a few things then did a battery pull and thankfully it seems the nandroid is restoring now.

Has a loooooooooooooooooooong history of stepping on the toes of the CM team, team douche, and any dev he can steal work from. Check out his website. Shameless.
He's out for the donations, that's about it.
I downloaded and tried to run 'CM7'. There was a few errors upon flashing and a few things didn't work and lots of functionality was missing. I restored my nightly #184 w/ invibilek #18. Thanks for the headsup.
Hi all! New to the forum, but not android in general. And am eager to dive into the clockwork behind this phone, and what makes it tick. Also, on the wife's Aria.
Anyway, I've had android power for about a year and have known about the Cyanogenmod rom since cm5. And judging on how much buzz there was around cm6 coming out, it seems to me we would've heard a little more about cm7 being released til now, IMO. Now, I may be wrong, and if so I apologize, but I think the main man himself would've waited til a stable RC, then come out with it across the board, not a nightly "progress" build so everyone can flash into a bootloop. That's what rom manager pro is for!
Besides, tonight is the first time I've heard of cm7. I may be way over the line, I apologize in advance. After we all do have opinions...

There is a difference between compiling the most recent source code on github (RC0), and an official release. Anyone can compile, but only the CM team can release stable RCs (RC1 and up) and final builds.
CM7 isn't really CyanogenMod yet, as we know it on CM6. All of the little goodies are yet to be merged, it's mostly just an effort to get supported devices stable at Gingerbread. I'm running it on my nexus, and it's pretty sweet.
Oh, I understand. I knew I should've kept my mouth shut, lol. Nevertheless, I'm not flashing any gingerbread til its further along, I.e. optimizing not stabilizing. Who knows when that'll be though. I think I'll just wait til it officially drops.

Ever since FCM came out, seems like everyone and their mothers making ROMS...
Have you noticed that the quality of ROMS gone down since the FCM release?
Do you find it annoying to seee 4 different CM9 KANG's without the ability to know which one would be best to use ?
Not saying I dont appreciate the FREE ROMS... but, I mean, seems like people are just quickly slappying together a few quick mods on someone elses ROM, renaming it.. then calling it their own.

Joker's been nice enough to help port his work on the PHOTON to us Atrix users, so we have something more capable to play with until another version of CM9 comes out and you're complaining?

The new roms are from cm9 kangs, which fcm has nothing to do with, and rdanner's ports. Which also have nothing to do with fcm. We also have Nottach making a new rom based on 2.3.6, and marko doing the same thing. Once again, neither have any affiliation with fcm... So what's the problem with development kicking off?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Well I thought a development boom was a good thing. If you read descriptions they might say alpha build and if you think some of the newer roms aren't as high quality stick with what you know. I personally like choices and trying new things. Waiting patiently for miui to improve haven't touched cm9 probably wont until camera works. Just consider things and read what works before you flash things.

In case you don't know, joker is one of the devs compiled/posted a CM9 kang. The OP targeted the CM9 kangs among other ROMs. Look at the dev section.
Look, I apologize if my post came off as I was bashing.. I was not bashing.
Endlessevo get's where I am coming from... FCM is a great thing, I love it!
Basically, He hit the nail on the head.. It's quantity ~ Quality thing...
EXAMPLE: I see some ROMS which warrant framework changes for animation purposes, etc... The same thing can be achieved by using Rom Toolbox pro..... Change the fonts.. add a wallpaper pack, launcher, put another kernel... FCM it, give it some random name, and now you have a new ROM.
I totally agree with Dev's like nootiach (spelling?) who put little hidden boobie traps in their work so people can warrant the credit where it is due.
I guess what I am trying to get at is, I miss groundbreaking work~!!! Like, when CM was ported, or Miui.. This is some groundbreaking stuff.. Now you go to the dev. section, and you have a handful of CM9 kangs
Sorry if Im ranting... but I want to talk to someone about it... Jesus christ, if I talk to my wife about it, she'd be pissed I spend this much thought on this

BTW, I am really stoked for CM9 and the future beyond.. The work that goes into all this is difficult. Maybe deep down inside, It is me just getting bored with the hobby?
Sorry about the post, and I respect all the guys who do, do this.
I don't think you quite understand what kang means.
All unofficial cm roms are kangs, even ones that are in development to become official cm. Like mine. To become official everything major must work without breaking other phones. So if you want official cm9 someone must fix the problems. The little groundbreaking work you are wanting is the kangs. Yes the atrix team laid ground work to get cm9 ported but they stopped working on it. I was given cm9 only a few weeks ago when the photon cm dev moved to a different phone. He didn't even have cm9 up. Only cm7. I'm not making a temporary kang to satisfy ics thirst. I'm making the fixes to go official.
Also if you read up only one cm9 is current and going forward. Guess who's
Btw I don't even have an atrix, I'm blind building

I did check to see if that's what he was being so butt hurt about. I figured because it was a second thought to his original rant and the fact joker defended the wrong part of the rant he knew why he was defending himself.
His complaints about the KANG's was not being able to tell the difference between them, not that they were simple tweaks turned into roms.

the impatience and greed around here is unbelievable...
if you want something to be fully working and perfect, you gotta make it yourself. plus rushing things isn't gonna do any good at all. it will come, just be patient... be glad we even have a Sense 4 ROM...

Saranhai is part of the team that brings a lot of ROM's to this device. He is probably a little frustrated that it seems like is never good enough, or fast enough for people. Your question may have been honest and purely innocent, but with the way things have been around here lately his reaction is somewhat understandable.
Several devs are hard at work on sense 4 kernels and the camera. When they have a usable fix, it will be released. If you want to add to their resolve you could always donate

I'm patiently waiting too. And so you know, I'm posting this in a good mood, not frustrated or being smart. Take it at face value MF. It's my fault that you put your own thoughts into a simple question? Seriously, it's all too common on XDA for people to needlessly attack others on the basis that people are too sensitive.
See the answer that JJ gave? That's all that we needed. I wanted to know the issues the devs were facing? If anything I was concerned, because I've never seen something give this kind of trouble on this phone. We all appreciate the works that devs do. I think it got a little hot outside to the point it heated everything, even in the internet.... xD
The issue is that there's no HTC official kernel source for any "sister" devices - DHD/DS, and they didn't get the HTC ICS update either. Without the kernel source, devs have to use kernel source from other, less compatible devices to compile the kernel, and the binary drivers from those devices don't match the HW. There are no skilled enough and/or willing enough devs to dig in the kernel code and rewrite the API towards the drivers to match the older, working drivers from Gingerbread (that's what was done back in Gingerbread release time), mostly because it's a huge work that brings almost no benefits - the official code is likely to be better anyway, and its release will most likely be closer to this point in time than the shortest time required for "enthusiast" work.

I think in layman terms, that means if someone attempted to rewrite source code to match the h/w in the Glacier, by the time they would finish, better & more compatible code would be here anyway. So its best, at this point, to just wait patiently?

How is this possible? JellyBean is out and no ICS ROMs have been made for the TB? I don't get it.... and yes this is in the dev section b/c its a question about ROMs.

Because no one has been able to crack the RIL. Until HTC/Verizon send us an update or we get a leak, we are left in the cold.

This is just a guess, but i'm pretty sure questions go in the Q/A part of the forum. Especially one that's been covered so frequently here.

not a guess ^. unless you personally developed something, your thread doesn't belong in the development section.

ANOTHER THREAD about this? Really?!?! Let me guess, the search button or google was broken? Jeeze, talk about beating a dead horse.
Every Dev that has been kind enough to start an ICS Rom has said the hold up is the RIL.
The TB has the ability to do data and voice at the same time, the devs have stated time and time again that complicates things.

As awesome as our Devs are, they can't just **** out a leak and make a Rom work within 5 minutes. Patience!

Are you unable to search? This has been covered, answered and smashed into the ground... repeatedly
It has less to do with how long ICS has been out, it is the RIL. Look around, there are awesome ICS builds, minus data. Data hold up is because of the RIL. Complaining here won't make one appear out of thin air. The problem lies with HTC at the moment. Don't forget, the TB has been in the "end of life" phase for awhile now. Face it, we have older tech. Older tech = low priority at HTC.
It crazy how the Note, and the inspire 4g get the ICS fully functionable I was very disappointed that my friend on his inspire get the ICS on his phone.the inspire and thunderbolt are almost the same but I'm sure they have different RIL not only that they both on 4g but only as 4g lte on the thunderbolt.. I wouldn't trade my TB for any other phone.since I went threw four screens and one whole housing.all I can.say is we gotta wait.

The newest ICS rom has Calling, Texting, and Wi-fi. I've been using it for over a week now and it works amazing and there is an update coming soon like liquid said! Also there are a couple Jelly Bean Roms in the works although nothing has been released yet a few devs are currently working on it trying to get it to boot! Hopefully there is a leak or an official update for ICS to move the work along but until then this is what you have! If you can get past not having mobile data, camcorder, or netflix you should give it a try!

Mods this thread is pointless and in the wrong section. We're beating a dead horse here so why not lock this thread before it gets ugly.

enkrypt3d: No offense, but your comments are showing a lack of understanding about the development process. This is a *development* thread. It's not for lack of hard work and effort from the community, it's just the inability to make the data radio talk to the operating system. From scratch, this is no easy feat. If you want to complain about not having working ICS or JB on the Thunderbolt, don't do it in a development thread. It's like a teenager busting into a brewery asking why his homemade beer tastes awful.
I'm not trying to say this with any animosity toward you, I'm just letting you know that it probably comes off as rude and insulting to developers that have actually been busting their ass trying to maintain any roms at all for the Thunderbolt, ICS or not.

There are still a couple devs but we keep on losing devs and soon enough we will have one. Seems like its gonna be time to get a new phone soon, the devs promise to have full working ics by latest next month. Hopefully they keep their promise.

As many of you know, I had a kernel named Singularity. I chose to cease development. As users still want the kernel, I am looking for someone to take over. If you are interested PM and if I decide your serious Ill give you the source
I would love it if someone would take this over! I don't know Jack about coding but have been very happy with the kernel. Maybe one of the kernel devs could build it as a side project to their own or at least go through the code and give some feedback as to the viability of adopting it...

Why not just release the source? I'm sure someone will take over or put the features into another kernel.

its not on xda anymore and the source isn't either.
I wish i had the time and ingenuity to take it.
But I don't.
If I were to do it updates would be inconsistent and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it up nearly as well as apophis did.
But thank you @apophis9283 for the offer to allow someone to take over

I really wish I could keep the kernel alive. I put 4 years into XDA with various projects. Being burnt out doesnt even begin to describe how I feel. I promise if I change my mind down the road Ill let everyone know

I just added cpuquiet to my source. I am going to test it and just post source here for anyone who wants it. I dont need one person to carry on the kernel, everyone can have access and it will go on that way. Have fun.

Thank you for your work. You were one of the most involved, and concerned devs I've encountered in what I call the "neo-XDA" era. I'm sad to hear about this, but am glad you are putting yourself first. Enjoy your time away.

Yeah that was Yoinx. Hes a great guy, I actually didnt know that some phones had a lower bin. This was my first kernel. You said neo-era. I thought you were talking about neo the developer who is now a mod. He actually tought me about android. Neo has been an amazing friend for almost 4 years. I stand by Yoinx. Great guy and highly intelligent. He was the one who taught me about kernels.
I will be updated the kernel soon. This in no way means I want to do it for the masses. Just stuff I'm doing for myself but you have my source and you can compile it yourself.

My fork's already supporting it app-side, so that's done. I managed to knock out getting that uploaded during a port call.
