You can compile the cyanogenmod source. The build version is CM7 RC0.

Lol, it's harmless
Just look at the nexus one forum, full of cm7 nag-bang roms.
Its really not that hard to compile...I was just about to now that I see it works. I was doing it on my N1 for personal use (crack-fiend nightlies lol), and now that I have my Inc, I'm doing the same.
I follow what you're saying. What I meant to get across is that I would rather wait for someone else to release something.

curiosity almost killed this cat. had flashed that numnut's rom (because I am an idiot) - the rom would not install (aborted on some issues, typical of jd) and after that none of the nandroids would restore either - they would abort at restoring system - tried a few things then did a battery pull and thankfully it seems the nandroid is restoring now.
caveat emptor... i guess
Alright...yall are gonna have to fill me in (I'm brand new to the Inc and this Sub-Forum)...Who is jdkoreclipse, and why are you all talking so much trash about him?

Long story short, he f'd up on here too many times and has a permanent ban. He was given enough (more than enough actually) chances. He played the role of a dev with a serious lack of knowledge putting other peoples property in danger by doing so.

Has a loooooooooooooooooooong history of stepping on the toes of the CM team, team douche, and any dev he can steal work from. Check out his website. Shameless.
He's out for the donations, that's about it.
I downloaded and tried to run 'CM7'. There was a few errors upon flashing and a few things didn't work and lots of functionality was missing. I restored my nightly #184 w/ invibilek #18. Thanks for the headsup.
Hi all! New to the forum, but not android in general. And am eager to dive into the clockwork behind this phone, and what makes it tick. Also, on the wife's Aria.
Anyway, I've had android power for about a year and have known about the Cyanogenmod rom since cm5. And judging on how much buzz there was around cm6 coming out, it seems to me we would've heard a little more about cm7 being released til now, IMO. Now, I may be wrong, and if so I apologize, but I think the main man himself would've waited til a stable RC, then come out with it across the board, not a nightly "progress" build so everyone can flash into a bootloop. That's what rom manager pro is for!
Besides, tonight is the first time I've heard of cm7. I may be way over the line, I apologize in advance. After we all do have opinions...

There is a difference between compiling the most recent source code on github (RC0), and an official release. Anyone can compile, but only the CM team can release stable RCs (RC1 and up) and final builds.
CM7 isn't really CyanogenMod yet, as we know it on CM6. All of the little goodies are yet to be merged, it's mostly just an effort to get supported devices stable at Gingerbread. I'm running it on my nexus, and it's pretty sweet.
Oh, I understand. I knew I should've kept my mouth shut, lol. Nevertheless, I'm not flashing any gingerbread til its further along, I.e. optimizing not stabilizing. Who knows when that'll be though. I think I'll just wait til it officially drops.

He's not part of the official team but he does make a useful commit or fix every now and then like me. I'm unfamiliar with the history of why people dislike him.m but let's not turn this into another flame war plz
I have been here when jdk started all his crap and drama but, don't forget he had a big hand in getting the camera to work on 2.3. He just tried to be a dev before he knew how. IM not defending him in any way, just stating an opinion.

I'm using CM7 right now, as are many others on this forum. It's up to you if you think it's a daily driver or not, but it's there, right now.
Patience, there's two people working on it (not together) xboarder, and krylon. Its hard to make a 2.3 from scratch.
Cm7 should be out of beta for i9000 pretty soon. Just be patient.
Remember when people questioned if the G1 would ever get updated? You know... the 3 year old Grandpa of all Android phones.
IT is running a newer version of the OS than my Vibrant. Have faith and patience man.
The same old 2.2 roms passing around, people editing icons & backgrounds, changing boot screens & apps. But at the end of the day there all froyo. eugene's macnutR14 is the most customized rom. bionix is nice but doesn't have video calls on the dialer. you can metamorph, ninjamorph, flash, push, oc your phone but its still 2.2 froyo
I want to see all the 2.3 gingerbread affects on vibrant the scrolling animation, the crt animation the camera app, the downloads app where they at holla
I can modify my own 2.2 rom theres so many to take stuff from. stop playing with each others roms work on 2.3 are you guys devs or are you editors cause it looks like besides a few your all editors

Okay, I'm starting to get annoyed at these kind of threads that come from ppl that obviously have no clue in what it takes to build a ROM from the ground on up. Just because android is open source doesn't mean that samsung's kernels are and we pretty much need compatible ones for our ROMs to work. Meanwhile, there are at least 2 teams working on gingerbread ROMs right now. I dunno about you but I'd rather have a fully stable 2.2/2.2.1 ROM out while we have the source than to take my chances and possibly brick my phone on a bug infested build of gingerbread.

Well I heard 2012 is the end of the world. I'm just wishing 2012 rolls around a lot faster then expected....
Aren't they only phones to have official 2.3 the nexus'? Quit yappin and start coding . Lol jk....
These devs work hard to get the new roms out. And to ask 'em to stopp bullcrapping and start on a new one is malarkey. Malarkey, I tells ya!

Looks interesting will look and see where it goes in the future I agree tho HTC n Sprint are pretty good downfall of HTC is their lack of the next big phone on sprint atm EVO 3d was a little of a flop nice phone could have been better. Will have to see how they do with ics and getting it out.

Yeah HTC has some cool devices coming out, but Sprint is missing out. They need to give Sprint a Beats phone, hopefully with the Bliss ROM on it I love that UI and the new Rosie has to be my all time favorite.
I think they will work magic with ICS, Sense overlay would be nice especially with what I have been seeing of 3.5!

lots of people seem to have mixed results with beats and with ICS i think the sense overlay while it looks nice ICS looks good its the actual first stock android look that is nice.It would be nice if they cut back sense or got rid of their launcher anyways. the main reason companys created overlays was due to the lack of smoothness android didnt have. google really outdid their self with ICS imo its what 2.3 and 3.0 should have been.

I think it'd be good, because I flashed it for my friend on their thunderbolts, and I was actually fairly impressed. I think putting some light back on them would be good cuz for the evo, when it first got rooted, they were the place to be, but now with more developers, more people are spread out, but they're great roms for aosp.
I actually just flashed it about 2 hours ago. I'm impressed with it; has the correct pngs, flows nicely, even without a reboot.

Nice! How exciting! I am working on a review of the Runny bliss Hybrid this week and then I will do OMFGB next week.
I am looking to do a ROM a week that way I can use it the whole week and give a more well rounded opinion. I am currently doing everything as is, with no kernel or other tweaks just the ROM as it comes. I will flash Gapps of course and my normal apps...
I am glad to have caught your attention and hope to bring some more users to your fabulous ROM, which I have been know to use from time to time. Are you running the latest nightly or the stable?

Yea they would be, which is why a lot of people using them partition their sd cards, to save some internal space, but they can be used un-partitioned.
They have the ROM's partitioned so its all in the "ROM memory" there its actually internal memory free.
I ran it for a whole week with no mods at all and it was smooth very rare lag and no crashes. Although I only use about 40 apps, there its plenty of memory, but moving cache to sd and apps to sd helps.

Not sure if I know what I am doing, but when the poop hits the propeller, I have never had to build source that wasn't already at least somewhat modified for my device.
I got all the proprietary stuff, the countless extra common additions, and now it seems I have to go find all the hardware build parts missing because all we got was a nexus layout and dashed hopes of much more.
It may or may not be realistic to just merge in the missing parts, but at least it is a good start. Everything is configured to work, it just wants some stuff I am still downloading.

I will post every detail I can, but I will admit a lot of it is currently mixed in with DHD and Dinc, as we have been working as one team instead of separate devices. I will make a point to link up what has been going on soon. That was overlooked on my part.
The builds in the first post are functional, but the version being built from source should not and will not be a [email protected]$$ rip -off of another device. That is costing time...

While I do not always agree with the Mods on this forum, I have been in contact with the one keeping a watch over this forum and he has a good understanding of what is and isnt relevant. He responded to make a valid point because a lot of the posts that have been removed are the direct result of not reading the first post. There have been MANY posts throughout the entire site pushing for releases only days after the initial release of a partial source. I think it is best you keep in mind, that nothing he said is directly rude unless you choose to read it that way.

Hey everyone,
I was just curious (and a noob so forgive me), I have been noticing a lot of developers switching off to other phones with the departure of jt1134 and the disappearance of ccampos.
Could the Samsung Fascinate's end of life be near? I know there are still developers working but lets face it, the Fascinate isn't as popular as it once was now with the Galaxy Nexus and the Droid Razr.
Well anyways post your thoughts if you agree or disagree that the Fascinate's death is close at hand or not.
Considering my old Eris still has support, I doubt it. Many people won't be due for an upgrade until later this year into early next year, plus the hardware is still very good. JT/sbrissen have done quite a bit of work, and since the Fascinate is a CM supported device we'll see that continue as well.

I just picked up a fascinate almost a month ago now. I was coming from the Droid 1, that still sees quite a bit of development. And the Droid as much as I loved it comes nowhere near being as smooth or responsive as this phone. So there is deffinately no hardware restrictions I see causing an end of the road issue. While I havent been around to see what the dev community was, it still seems to be quite healthy from what I've seen lately. Its inevitable that developers move to newer devices but that also opens doors for others to step up to the plate. And as long as there is enough people interested and thankfull for software I think that there will be developers out there willing to work on it.

I think we should find a way to help those guys, teamhackingsung along with independent developers are working hard to get ICS up on our fassy. I wish I knew how to code or I would be all for helping them out, I have to give them much respect for what they do to fix these phones left without a paddle (so to speak). I still find it amazing how some developers do it for free and just want a simple thank you, does anyone know how to code? I really want to help these guys.

In all seriousness, I believe that the Facinate and its developers will be here for the long haul. As long as there are phones out there and people don't have the $$'s to upgrade as often as they like do to the economy. This is my 3 cents worth.

Because no one has been able to crack the RIL. Until HTC/Verizon send us an update or we get a leak, we are left in the cold.

This is just a guess, but i'm pretty sure questions go in the Q/A part of the forum. Especially one that's been covered so frequently here.

not a guess ^. unless you personally developed something, your thread doesn't belong in the development section.

I think us hardcore TB guys are just getting left in the cold
ANOTHER THREAD about this? Really?!?! Let me guess, the search button or google was broken? Jeeze, talk about beating a dead horse.
Every Dev that has been kind enough to start an ICS Rom has said the hold up is the RIL.
The TB has the ability to do data and voice at the same time, the devs have stated time and time again that complicates things.

As awesome as our Devs are, they can't just **** out a leak and make a Rom work within 5 minutes. Patience!
If you are THAT antsy, try HOLO launcher.

Are you unable to search? This has been covered, answered and smashed into the ground... repeatedly
It has less to do with how long ICS has been out, it is the RIL. Look around, there are awesome ICS builds, minus data. Data hold up is because of the RIL. Complaining here won't make one appear out of thin air. The problem lies with HTC at the moment. Don't forget, the TB has been in the "end of life" phase for awhile now. Face it, we have older tech. Older tech = low priority at HTC.
It crazy how the Note, and the inspire 4g get the ICS fully functionable I was very disappointed that my friend on his inspire get the ICS on his phone.the inspire and thunderbolt are almost the same but I'm sure they have different RIL not only that they both on 4g but only as 4g lte on the thunderbolt.. I wouldn't trade my TB for any other phone.since I went threw four screens and one whole housing.all I can.say is we gotta wait.

The newest ICS rom has Calling, Texting, and Wi-fi. I've been using it for over a week now and it works amazing and there is an update coming soon like liquid said! Also there are a couple Jelly Bean Roms in the works although nothing has been released yet a few devs are currently working on it trying to get it to boot! Hopefully there is a leak or an official update for ICS to move the work along but until then this is what you have! If you can get past not having mobile data, camcorder, or netflix you should give it a try!

stop being such a prick dude.... seriously. If you have nothing to contribute to this thread then go away.
El oh el. If supplying you with answers to questions that have been asked repeatedly makes me a prick in your eyes, perhaps you need thicker skin.

Mods this thread is pointless and in the wrong section. We're beating a dead horse here so why not lock this thread before it gets ugly.

enkrypt3d: No offense, but your comments are showing a lack of understanding about the development process. This is a *development* thread. It's not for lack of hard work and effort from the community, it's just the inability to make the data radio talk to the operating system. From scratch, this is no easy feat. If you want to complain about not having working ICS or JB on the Thunderbolt, don't do it in a development thread. It's like a teenager busting into a brewery asking why his homemade beer tastes awful.
I'm not trying to say this with any animosity toward you, I'm just letting you know that it probably comes off as rude and insulting to developers that have actually been busting their ass trying to maintain any roms at all for the Thunderbolt, ICS or not.

There are still a couple devs but we keep on losing devs and soon enough we will have one. Seems like its gonna be time to get a new phone soon, the devs promise to have full working ics by latest next month. Hopefully they keep their promise.
