Guide to replacing the LCD.

OK folks,
I had to replace my LCD for the second time. So, I took some photos and wrote a little guide. Actually it is nine pages.

If I need to change anything, let me know.

Nice Job!
It's a T5.
I am still trying to figure out what type of glue or epoxy should be used to reseal the side tabs back on. Prying them off the first time weakens the original glue and for me one side in now pretty loose.
I didn't play around too much when I had mine open but am now wondering if that internal 2GB sdcard is replaceable.
This should be either Stickied or added to the Wiki.
Download Mirror - PDF File you may want to right click and 'save as'.
Info on the internal SD Card
There was a thread somewhere that said the tape for the end pieces is a 3M product, but I can't find the thread right now.
After looking again it does look like tape. That should be enough for me to go on.Thanks alot!
Yes. It is 3M tape. I got some with my LCD at no cost when I picked it up. Had to cut it to fit as it was for a different phone.
BTW , I will probably update the file for grammer and such stuff.

Verifix UV adhesive is the glue to use.
For better results use this with a 'Granulate TR 60 LCD glue gun', google it.

I'm thinking about buying a streak later on. How concerned should I be about the screen cracking? I'm not clumzy, but let's be realistic, who doesn't drop their phone at least once in their lifetime.
FWIW, I think it is an issue, but not a deal-breaker. The gorilla glass is very scratch-resistant, but also very brittle. Given its size, it is LIKELY to crack if you drop it naked. Unfortunately, I'm not guessing about this. I wouldn't use mine now without Otterbox Defender or at least Commuter (I have both now.)
I will say this: I have used mine for 2 months now with glass cracked, and with no effect on lcd clarity or touchscreen issues. But getting repairs is tough; will likely try diy soon.

Hi there. I'm about to replace my lcd. What side tabs are you referring to?
TIA
I think he is refering to the ends of the phone. The plastic peices where the buttons and ffc and speaker for the phone.
If you work slowly and with caution you can reuse the tape/glue that is currently holding the ends.

Ahh thanks for that
Still waiting for the lcd replacement from big_is. The first one they sent had 2 of the 3 ribbons broken. It's been more than 3 weeks now since I ordered it. Well, that's what it means to save $150 over having it professionally done
I destroyed my streak LCD and glass when I dropped it from just over 2 feet so definitely use a case. Also I just ordered a replacement LCD and glass from Amazon for $100, that's what the description says. So the parts are coming now, finally I can't wait to have my streak back

I've heard that the glass that you buy elsewhere isn't truly gorilla glass? I posted this earlier, but the lcd in my dell streak is the only thing messed up, not the glass.
Can I just buy the lcd and digitizer? Or do I need the glass as well.
You can get just the LCD and digitizer. Check out Amazon.

Have a look at post 1 or post 2 and in the pdf on the last page is amplace the provided the LCD to me. They stock the LCD.
Thanks alperin1,
my last question is if I only order the digitizer how do I mount it to the glass since only glue is holding it together?
I didn't see that in the pdf
=s
sorry for the noobish questions I just want to make sure I have all the info before my teardown.
Thank you!

broke my streak :( Please help!!!

As the title says, I just broke my streak... I'm hoping people here can help, I ripped the bottom ribbon for the 3 external buttons on the front screen, and my speaker is also toast... I would GREATLY appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction for replacement parts.
I am sure someone will help you. Meantime, how did you rip the cable and fry the speaker?.... ouch.
I think I found a site dellstreakrepairs.co.uk I don't think they have the ribbon cable but they do have the speaker.

Most likely he was working to remove the lcd. He probably used a sharp edge tool to pry the side up and ripped the ribbon.

[Q] touchscreen problem

Wife dropped phone into cup of soda. Only damage was little bit on lcd and camera. Fixed camera and replaced lcd but now the bottom of touchscreen is not working. Tried resetting phone and such yet still doesn't work. Does the touchscreen need to be replaced as well?
You probably shorted out the digitizer so yes you need a new one

Broken screen

My dell mini was fall , its steell working well , but I see blacks lines on the screen, and some of the margins disappear, do I need to buy full lcd screen with digitizer ? Where can I see user manuals for replacment ? Thanks

You need a new screen (ie LCD + Gorilla-glass) search for "streak screen replacement" on google and i think youll get along. There is also a good guide on streak disassembly on ifixit that you should read. It's really easy to do.

screen replacement- need connector
thanks, during the screen replacment the cover of the ribbon connector which lock the flex cable was broken and lost , how could i find subtitude for that ? someone told me its called "ZIF connector" where can i buy this ? i thing its is the digitizer connector it has 6 pin (see photo attached)
my bro broke his streak (the LCD is leaking) =(, anyone has a link to purchase exactly the piece that i need?
As mentioned above, the search engine of your choise will do the job. You'll find replacement in the known online markets and it seems most streakers where quite okay with what they got. So you should just give it a go.

before replacing the digitizer (touch) make this test: 1) pull the battery 2) remove the 4 screws on the chassis 3) tries to pull out the display with its gently pushing on the middle board of the previous screw holes 4) when you removed body touch logic board, heated with a phone at a maximum temperature of the perimeter touch.5), making sure everything goes back to the volume button when close.
If necessary, follow this guide for disassembly.
worked with my HD2 but still remains a temporary solution as physically for the bad quality 'of the glass, is the detachment of the conductive material.
