Wife dropped phone into cup of soda. Only damage was little bit on lcd and camera. Fixed camera and replaced lcd but now the bottom of touchscreen is not working. Tried resetting phone and such yet still doesn't work. Does the touchscreen need to be replaced as well?
You probably shorted out the digitizer so yes you need a new one

I am wondering if I could replace the screen without any troubles. Can this HD2 be fixed like new by replacing the glass screen and the digitizer?
[EDIT] The Screen was still working 1-2 weeks later, then after that the screen stopped working... So I'm thinking something is wrong with the screen digitizer but I'm not do sure.
They sell a kit for 40 bucks comes with screwdriver and separation tool

So its a problem with the digitizer right? And then I could fix it and it will work again?
That depends upon your skill and abilities
My professional advise is either to use professional to install or to purchase LCD and digitizer in one unit, even though your LCD is fine. There is no glass screen and digitizer, there is LCD and digitizer, neither of which you will be able to install separately, given your question.
Ok thanks every one for replying!
I got my Nexus 4 (very) wet, and it destroyed the battery. I've replaced the battery, and almost everything is fine, but the bottom part of the screen doesn't register touches. I now can't hit back/home!
Is it possible to replace the digitizer without replacing the whole LCD and glass? The LCD and the glass are absolutely fine, and really quite expensive, so it would be a bit silly to chuck them away.
No, the digitizer and the screen are connected (might even be the same thing) so you would have to buy all of it, sorry

For this model (and for 99% other) LCD screen and digitizer is piece - let's say - a hamburger. It can be changed only as one piece.
AND - if phone was wet You can`t know for sure that digitizer is that part that must be replaced. Maybe there is problem on motherboard that causes this.
Hi guys my S4 was dropped and when I tried replacing the glass I found out the glass under that one is also broken, the touch worked perfectly everywhere on the screen but now I need the glass between the outer one and the digitizer. When I took it out it kind of looks tinted, sorry but that's the best description I can give. Anyone know where I can get a new one? (Im asking about the glass between the top outer one and the digitizer)
Normally you need to replace the whole digitizer and outer glass. Its one part and costs a lot to replace. I learned the hard way fixed the screen on my note twice and now I bought an s4 and never take it out of my otter defender case.

So I basically broke the digitizer along with the already broken screen and have to spend $250 for a whole new digitizer?
EDIT: I think you might be right because when I turn it on the screen doesn't work, theres a faint line of light in the left corner and the notification light (blue when turning the phone on) and the menu and back buttons work.
I cant stress how good my otter defender case is. It saved my phone so many times. They r a bit bulky and ugly but it beats fixing it too much$$$. Especially the s4 it is a weak phone.

Is there a way i can check if the motherboard is dead???
Is think the motherboard is still working when the PC recognises your phone. Not sure, but I think I'm right! At least worth a try

Hey guys, after doing some research, I've found out that if the correct adhesive is not used ( a pain in the butt ) there can be digitizer issues.
I was sold a bad, completely unresponsive, digitizer, which I only found out after taking forever tear it down and put it back.
When the new replacement digitizer arrives, will I be able to test if input works without seating it into the phone front panel and without touching the LCD?
In other words can I just plug in the digitizer into the MB to test before assembly and be able to click on it solo after I turn on the phone?
Or does it have to seated, and also adhered properly?
You can plug it in and test it without glueing it in. Just be careful and hold it close to the phone without damaging the LCD. Touching the digitizer you will see the movement on the LCD screen.
Make sure it works before glueing it down over the LCD.
