I posted earlier in the Q&A forums before here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339606
To summarize I am unable to get into the rom or recovery at all. If I attempt to boot normally it goes on to HTC screen and then switches to a black screen and the phone turns off. Same thing happens when i attempt to get into recovery it flashes the recovery screen and then turns off. Im only able to get into the bootloader which is the following version:
VISION pvt Ship S-Off
Hboot-0.82.0000
Radio-26.03.02.26_m

Issue began when i restarted phone because i was getting a sim card issue. Ive tried installing recovery via fastboot but get error that it is not allowed. Is there any way out of this?
Additional information
about a month before the phone into water and i left it out to dry in rice for 4 days and it has worked until yesterday. Dont know if its a related issue.
Possibly related, drying the phone is a temporary fix most times because there is no guarantee that it is 100% dry, plus even if it were corrosion will still begin to set in from possible chemicals and or contaminants in the water. I always take it apart and thoroughly clean with a soft bristle toothbrush and pure alcohol then let it thoroughly dry. Sorry I'm not more help but will the computer pick it up while in bootloader?
Yea the computer picks it up in bootloader i can do fastboot commands. I tried flashing a recovery but i got an error that its not allowed. I guess i would just want to know if its possible to do anything from bootloader in regards to restoring the phone?
Thanks dude
come to think of it issues im having are more consisting with something shorting out. After a day of it not being turned on the phone booted succesfully today and then shut itself 5 minutes afters. Still showing the same symptoms and only going able to boot into the bootloader
If you cannot do anything and you're out of options perhaps a cleaning is in order
I will do so this weekend. Thanks Kill.
Great News.
I used the following guide to open my g2

which i got from the following thread on xda

I used a toothbrush with 99% alcohol and just brushed the motherboard. After letting everything dried everything is running perfectly. Thanks Kill again you rock

if you cant fastboot/recovery/anything, it's pretty much bricked. If you get some blue LED, there isnt much hope for that either.
i got no blue led it just stay on the first splash screen no recovery mode or fastboot

Then you're bricked. Means you need a new phone.
no ooo
people there is a solution via the usb when it is stuck at the first splash screen just search
mine is totally bricked and still no solution !!!
call tmobile.
I did the same thing yesterday and I told them that My phone updated itself then wouldnt turn back on.
my new one is in the mail and will be here in 2 days
just act naive and clueless.
as long as your still under warranty, your all good.
thanks ppl i try everything but this its not going no where the pc dosnt want to recognize my phone and i try everything just gonna throug it in the toilet and call the insurence
At least sell it for parts, you can probably squeeze 40 bucks out of it or similar. Check the going rates on eBay for non-functional handsets.
I know its a bit late....but I fixed my 'bricked' MT3G
I was searching around the web for a solution to my problem, and needless to say, there wasn't much out there for me besides the typical... "it's bricked, buy a new phone."
So here's my story:
Earlier today I decided to upgrade my MT3G to Cyanogen's 5.0.7 Android 2.1 rom. I had used the experimental 5.0.6 rom, and found it to be a bit more "glitchy" than I was comfortable with. So, I went online for what I figured to be a very simple upgrade...and downloaded both the rom and a kernel (which was 32A not 32B).
Needless to say, after installing the rom, the kernel, my gapps update, and resetting my phone... it did nothing but hang on the MT3G screen. After about 30-45 min...I knew something was wrong and I freaked. It was unresponsive to multiple attempts to reboot, and was not being seen by my computer.
That's when the online search began... I looked for other individuals who've suffered the same fate and kept coming up with the same "you're screwed" response. Having recovered more "bricked" iPhones in the past than I can count, I knew this could not be the case. For me, as long as the phone turned on and flashed some sort of screen, there's still hope.
So what did I do...
Well, I first attempted to boot the phone into recovery mode...but it would not work. Next, i figured I would try doing a fastboot... and what do ya know... it worked!
From there I used multiple combinations of plugging in the phone via usb and resetting and putting into recovery mode until I found one that worked.
So here's my steps:
(Note: this has only been tested if you accidentally installed the 32A kernel on your 32B device)
1. Power on the phone... If you continuously sit at the green MT3G screen, take off the back and take out the battery.
2. Plug in your USB cable (VERY IMPORTANT, will explain later)
3. Next, replace the battery and hold down both the [home] and [power] buttons, if it merely turns on to the green screen, and you get no response from your computer's usb notification window...take out the battery again
4. Fastboot your phone (hold down [back] and [power] arrows) While your phone in connected to your computer, it should make a notification sound.
5. Restart your phone from Fastboot, AS SOON as it shuts off, hold down the [home] and [power] keys.
6. Continue holding until you hear a notification sound from your computer...at that point it should boot into recovery mode.
7. Wipe your handset (just for good measure) and reinstall your update package...DELETE that wrong kernel from your sd card so you dont make the same mistake again.
Summary:
I have no clue as to why it works, but I've done this 3 times now just to verify, and each time it has worked. For some reason, the USB connection to the handset acts as a precursor to the phone booting. I will stress that without plugging in the USB, my phone did not boot into recovery mode. However, after I did plug it in...Fastbooted....Reset....and Booted into Recovery it worked perfectly.
I am still suffering lags on my device (more so than before) and this could be a product of my stupidity, or this rom being laggy. Either way it works, and I don't have to purchase a new phone!!!
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
I experienced the same problem which can not boot recovery.
I've tried your way above but no luck.
Is there another way?

T-Mobile myTouch 3G - stuck on splash
Today I probably flashed my phone with a wrong (32A) SPL. I can't access fastboot, recovery mode or anything, including access from PC (either Linux or Window$). But it's stuck on splash - if it was totally bricked, would it still load a splash screen? Is there any hope?
Sigh.. I have the same problem.. Blue LED If I hold down the track ball but can't get to fastboot or recovery..
My problem started after I flash the HTC rom from the website.. Sigh.. I think it was the radio that did it..
Anyone found a way to get around this (w/o jtag)?
I am also experiencing the same problems. Blue LED works, cannot get into fastboot, bootloader, or recovery. It just sits on the opening splash screen.
Any other ideas?
Looks like I will just sell mine as a "bricked" device and hope to salvage a few bucks. Sigh
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I would keep going but you get the point. I downloaded ROM Manager, and I flashed a Cyanogen Nightly ROM from 11-5-2010 and I got nothing but a Green spalsh screen and a reboot cycle. You instructions ROCK!!!
I went crazy and prayed a few times to unbrick my phone. I tried different things and then nothing worked. So I had the phone on for a bit and it restarted twice and then ran. Just let in sit for a while. Give it time. Maybe itll work for u too. goodluck

Can I ship you my bricked device so you can practice unbricking? I can pay you in random electronics
This phone belonged to a friend. He says he didn't try to root it or anything. It just stopped working. Yeah, sure. Right. I believe that one.
When turning on, the phone goes straight into fastboot. No buttons will respond. The only way to do anything is to take out the battery to turn it off.
Today is day 2 with it. I did not try anything yesterday since I only had it for a couple of hours. I left it on my desk overnight. When I came in this morning, I turned it on and it booted up, loaded, and worked (without the sim or an SD card). I went through the tutorial and set it up with my Gmail over wifi. Then, I powered it off to put my sim in it. Upon turning it on, it went right back into Fastboot again. Nothing else I tried, including removing the sim and SD card made a difference.
I discovered that if I hold the Vol down button while powering on, I can get into Hboot. Again though, NO buttons will respond. I put the stock p15img.zip on an sd card and it loaded through hboot. The volume buttons worked here to load that rom. Upon reboot, right back to fastboot. No buttons work.
I have monkeyed with it all day. No luck. I have the appropriate HTCDrivers on the PC, adb does not see it.

Any thoughts on what I can try to recover this?
He no longer has TMo, I do. There's no way I can send it in on my plan.
There are no signs of water damage. Stickers are white.

Hope you didnt give him any money for it... Putting the image on the root of the SD card to flash the stock image is not gonna work because your not rooted. Cant even flash a recovery through there if your not rooted.
Well, I called HTC's support number, went through HTC's warranty system, and now have a working phone for $40... Not bad!
Hello,
I have a mytouch that i have been trying to fix for the past 5 days now and have been to every corner of the internet trying to find an answer.
Background:
I rooted my phone and was running CM7 with no issues till it wasn't keeping my accounts and wouldn't let me add my accounts back on my phone. I decided to go back to stock and read that you were to just run the PD15IMG file. With previous rooting experience i went to clockwork and made a backup and also wiped my cache just to make sure. The update went smooth till restart when the phone was stuck on the splash screen.
Issue:
If i try to re install the PD15IMG file the phone will start to update but gets stuck on "BOOTLOADER - Updating". If i enter recovery i get to the green sync arrows with a phone for a few seconds and then the phone goes black and vibrates around 7 times. When in HBOOT USB the computer will recognize but ADB will not. In Fastboot USB, fastboot will find the device but when i try to erase or flash anything i get "FAILED <Remote: not allowed>"
My bootloader reads:
GLACIER PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.89.0005

Phone vibrating 7 times, if it's the same as for Nexus One, means - overheating CPU, which in turn means - dead phone that needs warranty replacement, if still available.
Sorry for bad news.
Wait give it some time in a.cool place because that's what I had to do got mine if that's the case

It'll only be a temporary solution. Unless you really heated your MT4G before getting those signs (having it under the car glass in black jacket, for example), there is no way that the CPU will reach overheating temperatures on its own. And when it does - it means bad stuff.
I can suggest (not joking!!) to try and turn on the phone while it's inside a freezer. If it turns on and functions properly there, but starts acting funny when outside - it's 100% overheating confirmation, and nothing can be done.
I was updating the phone to OS 2.3.4 and while it was downloading I was browsing the internet and all of the sudden the phone froze, it didn't do anything for minutes, and then I took the battery out, when I put it back, the phone didn't want to load, it got stuck on the mytouch logo. I started to read and I did some steps to see if it work. I used the method pressing volumen down + power to go on HBOOT. I tried recovery first, then when it rebooted I got the red triangle with the exclamation mark. Then I turned it off and I tried factory reset, it took like 30 minutes or so and it didn't do anything. I was reading some threads here about some similar situations and I don't really want to do anything because they're instructions for different situations.
When HBOOT is on the screen it says:
GLACIER PVT SHIP S-OFF

but I don't want to keep damaging the phone since I don't know what exactly do.
I bought this phone from someone two days ago, they told me it was rooted but I don't really think so. It was working perfectly until I started to download the update.
Hope someone can help me solve this problem.

Nope, it's not giving me any error, just the red triangle with the exclamation mark. I "restored the stock" following the steps and it didn't work, but it didn't give me any error either. It won't just load, and now I can't even select the "factory reset" option. When I select the recovery option, an update icon with a phone appears, then it vibrates seven times and shut down.
I had the same problem. When the phone vibrates seven times, it's due to a hardware failure. If you still have a warranty on the phone, get it replaced ASAP
My phone decided to hide in my pocket one day while I went swimming. Actually I forgot it was there. 30 minutes later I realize it's there and get it out of the water. I turn it off immediately. Take it to a drying station. When I get it back it turned on for a bit, then shut back down and went into a boot loop. So I restarted it into recovery mode and tried to reload the is, but my boot loader is locked.
My main question is,
How can I unlock the boot loader through the recovery menu. Adb won't do anything until that's done. I've tried Google, I've also read through the first couple pages on here.
I forgot to mention, I did send it back in to oneplus to see what they could do, they told me I'd need 5 or 6 new parts due to water damage. I wonder if I never told them it was water damaged, if they'd still come to that conclusion. The phone boots into recovery. I can navigate through the menus.

Water damage can easily indicated when opening the device cause there are indicators like stickers that will be changing color to read when they come in contact with extreme moisture or water.
There's nothing you can do until they repaired the parts.
What help do you want now, it's to late imo
Thank you for the reply. I have the phone back un-repaired. It's still in a boot loop and I can still boot o recovery and see it in adb, but it won't transfer the files with the bootloader locked.
The help I'm asking for is, is there a way to unlock the boot loader without an OS being on the phone? if so, how?

Not possible. You need to allow oem unlock.
You could try this:
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/forum.x...uide-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3761706/amp/
It should work for almost any state. I haven't had the need to use it yet, but let me know if it works for you.
Cheers! ?
