Hello all Hero lovers, since i switched to Aeonflux my battery life is going crazy, i mean its going great, more than i expected, i used my phone over two days now like crazy and its still at 78%, how can that even be possible? Lot of wifi, calls, texts, facebook browsing, i mean i had the xperia x8 and it was so bad, love my hero, definitely. Only thing i need since i don't want to loose sense is this damn youtube "Sorry, this video cannot be played" for hd videos, is there any workaround for this thing? I mean in 2.1, in 2.2 and afterward we can always touch on the HD icon and video plays at lower quality.
Press play on the video, turn the phone to landscape and uncheck the HQ icon at the top right of the screen. The video will then play on your hero.

The most annoying thing about my phone is the battery, and i guess that's the reason why they call Android phone battery killer. As for the youtube video, you can follow the #2, it works well on my phone

78% after 2 days?? I have aeonflux too but after 15 hours time it drops below half.
That is really strange. Don't know anyone wit that good battery life in hero.
It`s possibile.
But don`t use it anytime. My hero with elelinux rom drain battery in 48 hour about 25% with just 5 min calling in this time.

Hi guys,
Got a HD2 at the moment, and the youtube app doesn't run too smooth, and video playback suffers from audio lag. Anyone tried the video playback on the N1 yet, and able to comment on quality..
Cheers
Darrin
I have HD2 and N1, i've not notice any audio lag on my HD2. I haven't tested N1 youtube app but i think it has more option then the one on HD2 like i can login to my youtube account and pull all the bookmarked videos.
thanks for that, strange how i seem to be having audio lag, tried 3 hd2's, and all the same, using wifi.
how do you rate the N1 against the hd2?
cheers
hmm i can't really tell much about N1 yet, as i didn't get much time to play around. I only had it yeasterday.
Any way try chosing high quality settings from youtube app on HD2.

Any video really, have the issue with them all, the audio lags around 1/2 second behind the video, even when the video is copied to sd and played....
Would be interested to see if the N1 youtube app is better then the hd2, i expect it will be.....

Been on charge since my last post - youtube is now working perfectly on wifi and 3g in low quality - dont have enough patience to check vids in high quality as signal is too weak where i am.
Great quality no lag etc etc.
Also, if anyone's interested: Had a few signal problems (Vodafone) - re-inserted sim, rebooted and all is well in nexus world.
Worked like a champ on 2G where I am at! Best youtube app on any device I have ever tried, IMHO. Quick to load, even on 2G, great buffering, and so forth.
Hi all,
I have finally found a stable ROM for me after 1 year of modding every week. the rom is Elelinux 6.2. Now everything is good but the only issue left for me is playing long duration videos like movies. The movies reach around 75% and then the video goes back to the start, while the sound is still functioning normaly. This happens in every froyo rom, but not in 1.6 or 2.1. Please help.
Thanks to all devs for the beautiful roms.....
I have exactly the same problem...soo anoying!! I watch a lot of movies in my phone, so it's a big dealbreaker for me, therefore I'm now using "VillainROM 12" (2.1), but I would rather be using "TastyFroyo 1.2" because it's faster, has better battery life and more features...
Hope some smart guy soon fixes this problem!
Well I flash alot of roms and used just about all of them including Cm7 and when I used it and it was great but to many bugs it turned my phone into an ipod I could not make calls send text and browser would shut down so much and I am wondering if they have improved it to be an everyday rom?

The only thing that doesn't work with CM7 now is GPS.
The camera is also a bit slow but it works. Aside from that only OTHER bugs would be a bit low 3D performance (though you won't notice it anywhere but on a benchmark), lack of support for all codecs for videos (not all formats playback is supported yet), and a batter life of about 14 hours as compared to about 17-18 normal.
My wifi is unstable to I can watch a 10 min video on YouTube and only get through half of it.

Ok thanks I might do it was buggy but still better then all of the rims just do to the quick snappy opening apps and transitions when it comes to multitasking

ya id say i get about 7-10 hours of batt life but im a pretty heavy user
a few other bugs ive noticed is that if you turn the phone off and plug it in it turns right back on, wifi/data is hard to manage and a bit tedious for me, and obviously GPS which made me downgrade for now
there was one other issue that is right at the tip of my tongue but i cant think of it

did they fix the storage problems? and the external sd?
I have read through all of the "issues" threads and there seems to be a lot of inconsistancy except for the gmail widget(I don't use it anyway). Has anybody had marked improvements over 3.0? Any less FC's or SOD's?
I ask because I am very happy with my Tf so far and am kind of reluctant to install.
So far everything seems basically the same. I didnt lose my widget but my gtalk application keeps saying its lost connection to the server despite it being on a known to be reliable data connection and actively surfing. Not sure if thats really 3.1 though.
Its better for me. Did not lose gmail widget; YouTube is much better; Browsing seems better. Need to play more to see what else, and validate better browsing.
The battery seems to stay longer than before (with the dock), i have charged it this afternoon till around 2pm and up till now (10:45pm) it is still at 100%, with no light flashing from the keyboard dock battery indicator.

Yeah I should note that the youtube app plays videos well now.
I only had a few hours with 3.0 but 3.1 is nice. There are a few FC issues and that's it.
I've had a few issues with 3.1... primarily that my TF seems to randomly reboot when sleeping. Its annoying.
But, its well worth the fact that youtube runs great and browsing has been better. Primarily youtube though, old firmware youtube was absolutely embarassingly bad. I didn't want to show my friends my sweet expensive gadget that couldn't play a video
So far no bad issue.
Not sure about this gmail widget as i do recall seeing one before. But my unit want to update to 3.0.1 when I got it.
What I have noticed
1. Better browser behavior
2. more controls on browser when set to appear.
3. Video playing is much better. I watch a podcast before 3.1 I could not watch there HD videos. Know I can.
My honest opinion is that this was a step in the right direction but it better not be the last step. Though youtube app is playing better and more controls in the browser, expandable widgits are good there are still issues. There's little hitches in general from time to time and flash still doesnt seem like it plays all that well. Overall it's a good step but not the super improvement some of the reviews have stated.
Videos play slightly smoother but still not silky smooth. I've tried encoding the videos many many times with both baseline (yes even baseline) and high profile handbrake presets from another thread, but the video still lags compared to playing the same video on my desktop. Is anyone else facing the same problem or is it just me?
I still don't have the dock update which is a bit more critical in my book since I sold my laptop. Typing in the browser just stinks. I'm glad I'm a fairly accurate typist. The tablet itself seems a bit snappier. Videos play a bit smoother. I just want my typing speed.
High profile h.264 playing, smoother UI. I never got any SOD's anyway. And so few FC's that its tough to tell if that's better so soon. I'm _very_ happy.
I do still want a little more, E.G. it looks like there is mkv container support in 3.1 but the file extension isn't plumbed in for some reason. I'd also like a portrait mode for the market.
So after theupdate i figured id start freah and did a facrory reset
Ive notcied my boot up time tobe faster.
Doesnt hang on the asus logo for long anynore
I'd appreciate others adding to this thread as they install 3.1 in the coming days. I'm also 100% satisfied with my TF and don't want to start getting frustrated. I've now read reports of wi-fi dropout, random dock disconnect, decreased battery life, and random reboots after 3.1. I also use the Gmail widget a TON, so I'm a bit worried about losing that...
Thanks for the reports everyone!
video performance is far superior
hdmi support is far superior
Browser is a bit more flaky
a little concerned about the quadrant drop especially where it hags on the database test.
all in all worth it, but hopefully not the end.
I just replaced the Gmail widget with the email widget and added in my hotmail
You can get the gmail widget using muliple methods if you lost it in the update, stop being so damn lazy and look for the method and THEN complain about it.
Browser speed and inbrowser scrolling is much worse after the 3.1 update

In what way hdmi is supperior? It was working ok before here with the exception of too much cuts in the edges of the screen.
Does the stock music player workokay for you guys after the update? Some have said it stops when the screen is asleep. I guess it doesn't go to the next song right away.
Hi, I've decided to get myself a sony smartwatch, so before I do, I'm just wondering i if anyone on here has tried using one with a desire z/g2? Preferably running the miui gingerbread rom as I am (I know that's a bit of a long shot, but u never know!) If you have, do all the features seem to work properly?
Many thanks..
Jamie.
Well, ill be able to answer the question myself in a few minutes as i received it today, and it has been on charge for nearly the 2 hours stated in the instructions.. omg i think a little bit of wee came out im so excited, like being a kid again tee hee!

Lol, congrats. Let us know what you think.
well for anyone thinking of getting one, it does indeed work with the desire z..
Im pretty impressed tbh, it looks good, is very smooth in operation and pretty responsive (although the double tapping the screen to wake up doesnt work too well, sometimes i have to tap up to 5 times, but i simply shake to wake instead.. hopefully they will sort this in the next firmware upgrade of which there has been two already, so at liest sony are taking interest).
There are already quite a few apps, i think around 70-80,(you can see whats available by typing 'sony smartwatch' into google play) and growing every day, i have downloaded many already, including (other than all the standard stuff such as sms, email, weather etc),,, google maps, and it works well! includes zoom functions and map, and i read about street view too somewhere but have'nt looked yet,, impressive. one annoying thing is album covers are not shown on the music app (with the desire z anyway), but im sure someone will develop another music app soon.
one thing that would have made the watch perfect would be the addition of a speaker and mic for phone calls, but i guess ill have to wait for the I'M watch to be released, if it ever is!
also i charged the battery for the inittial two hours, and used it for about 5 hours of heavy use before it died, but this is normal, needs a few charges to get up to standard apparently, so ill report back in a few days if anyone is interested.
so overall it gets a genuine 8/10 form me. Which would have been 10 if it included a speaker and mic, sort it out sony! - but still,, very good.
