Hi guys,
Got a HD2 at the moment, and the youtube app doesn't run too smooth, and video playback suffers from audio lag. Anyone tried the video playback on the N1 yet, and able to comment on quality..
Cheers
Darrin
I have HD2 and N1, i've not notice any audio lag on my HD2. I haven't tested N1 youtube app but i think it has more option then the one on HD2 like i can login to my youtube account and pull all the bookmarked videos.
thanks for that, strange how i seem to be having audio lag, tried 3 hd2's, and all the same, using wifi.
how do you rate the N1 against the hd2?
cheers
hmm i can't really tell much about N1 yet, as i didn't get much time to play around. I only had it yeasterday.
Any way try chosing high quality settings from youtube app on HD2.

Can you give me the link of the you video?
Any video really, have the issue with them all, the audio lags around 1/2 second behind the video, even when the video is copied to sd and played....
Would be interested to see if the N1 youtube app is better then the hd2, i expect it will be.....

Been on charge since my last post - youtube is now working perfectly on wifi and 3g in low quality - dont have enough patience to check vids in high quality as signal is too weak where i am.
Great quality no lag etc etc.
Also, if anyone's interested: Had a few signal problems (Vodafone) - re-inserted sim, rebooted and all is well in nexus world.
Worked like a champ on 2G where I am at! Best youtube app on any device I have ever tried, IMHO. Quick to load, even on 2G, great buffering, and so forth.

I just wondered, I've read quite a lot the last few days that have said the BEEBplayer is now not working or working badly due to being primarily blocked. I wondered, is this true?

Seems to be working for me. I've not used it much so i won't be able to say if it's working badly or just normal.
Mine is still working fine on T-Mobile.

works fine for me - over WiFi and the Vodafone UK network...
Just got my Desire on T-Mo this afternoon and have just watched the Australian F1 GP on it as I missed it last week. Worked for me on both Wi-Fi & 3G / HSDPA

weird. I tried it on wi-fi and it was really laggy
It works for me ..... some videos can be laggy and the quality is poor sometimes.
Does anyone have the same thing?
im getting really bad quality on mine running on the orange 3g network and over wifi and its really laggy
i also think the quality of the beeb app is bad and i'm on t-mobile, the real iplayer played flawless on my old n95 with great picture quality, hope when the iplayer comes to android its better than this app, youtube seems bad too on my desire so i think it may well be just the desire or andriod is just terrible with video.

Video quality is excellent on the desire more to do with your data connection I expect
there is nothing wrong with my data connection, and in my opinion the play back of youtube compaired to my nokia and iphone is terrible, as is the beeb app on android compaired to my iplayer on my nokia.
Frame rate is fine, resolution is a bit poor but it definitely isn't laggy for me.
Quality is bad on wifi, and really bad on 3G. I get sync issues on the wifi too - with the audio up to a second behind the picture. I'm hoping this is down to poor codec optimisation rather than a lack of power in the Desire.
I have not been able to get live radio to work. Is anyone else having the same problem?
EDIT:
Can't get the radio working either now, it was working for me the other day.
Watching DR Who on Beeb Player now, all ok on my T-Mob Desire via WI-FI
has anyone on orange got this working yet?

Live radio stopped a while back due to the BBC making changes. However it looks like the dev fixed this yesterday as there is an update available.
What is the audio quality like for every one?
My audio seems very low...
That's great. Just tried Radio 4 and the quality and volume is excellent both on WiFi and using 3g.
Hows the video quality? On youtube for example? Is there a differnce in quality in a rooted vs unrooted? Thanks!
how would giving you access to root directories effect the way the phone works? root simply gives the phone access to things it normally wouldn't so it does nothing to your phone the only way for something to happen to your phone is if you do something to it. so to answer your question no
Well, I am new to all of this. Also I have read where people have said that rooting the phone made it run faster. So I wondered if running faster had any effect on vid quality.
And you never answered my original question... How is the video quality?
well thats in their head lol but you can make your phone run faster by deleting the stock apps but of course you need root for that... actually i did answer your question i said there is no difference it was the little last bit on my first post
Right, you said there was no differnce in rooted vs unrooted. How is the video quality overall? My bud at work has an iphone 3g and without the my 3g app the quality is pretty bad when hes not on wifi. Was curious how smooth the vids were. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

you asked if there was a difference in video quality from a non rooted phone vs a rooted phone and there is no difference but as for having wifi on or off the quality is the same just might take longer to load
Actually on wifi the phone defaults the youtube app to high quality video mode, but on 3g you can simply hit the menu button the load the video in high quality.
LOL!!! So is the quality good, bad?? I do appreciate your info, bro. That sticky you reccomended had some great info!

of course it had great info its a sticky lol and i would say this phone has great video quality. im mean come on it comes with avatar on it lol if it plays it flawlessly it can play anything and so far i havent had any bad quality playing videos unless it was just the actual video that was bad
This phone has quite possibly the best screen out there, so yes the quality is good but it also depends on the video its self of course.
Thank you skater!!!! it only took 12 posts, but finally I got my answer!!!!
Im probably looking to get a vibrant in the next week or two. Im just doing a little research first.

your welcome and if your researching for a phone you picked the best place to do it. imo this is the best phone out there besides the evo ive played with about every phone out there and nothing can beat this screen and customization.
I tried to search but found no recent threads on this.
Has anyone else found that Netflix video and audio go out of sync pretty regularly??? I find that the video stutters for a second, and the audio is then out of sync. The video speeds up and catches up with the audio a short time later, then shortly later the problem happens again.
I have netflix on my tablet o.o and it works great. No out of sync audio with video or any problems

Odd.... Are you using a ROM or anything??? I am totally stock (not even rooted yet).
I've read about it on another site but not experienced it myself. Are you on the most up to date version of Netflix?

What is your download speed? Your internet speeds could be too slow.

I'm pretty sure its gotta be your internet speeds bro.
I meant to add in my original post that it definitely wasn't my bandwidth.
Any other ideas on a stock 10.1???
The last version of Netflix was horrible like that for me, but the current is perfect. You probably already did this, but uninstall and re-install? Hope it works for you.
The current version of Netflix works great for me. I'm on Task's latest rom.

I am using Overcome's ROM at the moment.
I posted earlier that I had not had the same problem but last night I was watching Top Gear on Netflix and experienced some pretty bad stuttering, but when I played the same show today it was fine.
Sometimes when I start Netflix its out of sync and/or stuttery. Usually I just reboot the tab and then it works fine.
I have the same issue.. My audio/video will get out of sync. I have a T-Mobile galaxy tab 10.1 with stock everything without a root.
I was having this same issue wile watching some videos with my kids today. I usualy fixed its self but it was very annoying. I was on stock 3.2 at the time, latest version of netflix and my intenet is prety darn fast.
I'm running Task's 7.0 rom at the moment. I'll have to test and see if it makes a difference.
Hi guys,
So whenever I'm watching a video with the YouTube app in HD it constantly stop play, loads, then plays, then loads then play.....you get the idea. At first I though it was a bandwidth issue but if I'm on other WiFi connections that I know are faster than mine I have the same issue. If I take it off of HD mode it runs fine. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a known fix for it? Or is this maybe a WiFi hardware issue with the N10? It sucks not being able to watch YouTube videos on my N10. Thanks for the feedback guys!

ya mine just keeps trying to load every like 30 seconds, its horrible. Issue only happens in HD.
To be honest, I'd be more willing to peg this issue (which I've seen as well from time to time) to the Nexus 10's rather underwhelming Wi-Fi performance. It's the one thing about Android that always really bugs me-- of all the devices I've owned, the iPad/iPod Touch (gifted that one though to my roommate) have had the fewest issues with Wi-Fi. And it's bizarre. There's no reason it should happen, but I've seen the gauntlet of problems (including everyone's favorite "Avoiding poor connection").
installed smarttube app from play store and no issue withe the same video. no problems with skype video. only youtube - even just 10 feet from router with every other app rocking it.

It's probably partly because of your connection speed and partly because of the way buffering works on the native Android app, which seems badly done.
Generally speaking, the native Youtube app for Android is pretty badly done. It doesn't let you choose the exact resolution you want like on the Flash player, ie 360p, 480p, 720p, or 1080p, only HD or not. It will automatically start downloading in HD if it thinks your connection is fast enough and won't let you switch to non-HD until after it has buffered in HD and starts playing a bit. It doesn't let you order a channel's videos by popularity, though you can get around that by going to the website, ordering by popularity, and then clicking on the videos from there. It will buffer a video, but if you switch to another app and then come back, it will often randomly lose that buffering, meaning you have to wait while it downloads all over again.
It is amazing how bad this app is after so many years of being out.

By far and away though, the biggest annoyance for me (after the ones you listed) was introduced more recently. Why, oh why, Google, would you not let me disable watch suggestions? They never work, especially with my subscriptions!

Awesome explanation! Thank you.....yes, it to drives Mr nuts that after so many years this app is still so buggy. Patience can only go so far .
Well at least I know now that I'm not the only one with these issues. Thanks again!

Sometimes I know the connection is okay, but YouTube just likes to be a jerk. It happens to me occasionally, but something I've dealt with.
Generally, I download the YouTube video and watch it (or watch it on my train ride later!). Usually those kind of apps are helpful even if you have a slow connection so you don't get that stuttering when trying to watch a video.
I've heard some good things about this YouTube Downloading app. Personally, I haven't tried it; I use TubeMate from the amazon app-store.
In a different way, this should help.

Hello! I've bought 3 days ago the note 3 and the first thing I noticed is that everywhere in the OS i experience (I think this is called..) stuttering! Everywhere except video playing through build in video player I see stuttering. In browser, games, apps, scrolling and worse of all Youtube! The video is like skipping frames. The sound is good but the video is not at all smooth! I enabled developer tools and enabled the setting to show me gpu usage in bars. When I experience statturing the usage of the gpu instantaneously is full and then back to normal.I've tried reseting phone removing my sd card and when the phone was only with the factory installed apps I updated youtube app and played a video and again the same even in non HD videos.... >:-X I've read somewhere to enable gpu accelaration in 2d apps neither this worked.. I've also noticed that in antutu benchmark. When the benchmark was in 3d test although the fps was around 40-60fps the image was not smooth at all! IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS! Does anyone else have the same problem with me? It is something that the average user want bother him too much and he can live with it but for me is the worst thing! I paid 750euros for the device and I want it to run smoothly at least the most of the times..! Before this device I had the note 2 and I didn't have ANY of these problems! I mean not even 1 of them! If this is not something I did wrong and it is samsung problem then it is anacceptable! What can I do?
you got a problem i would take it back cause mine is fine.
My Note3 is silky smooth fast even with high bit rate high definition video. You must have a fault and I would get it exchanged ASAP.

Definitely something wrong there. My Mega 6.3 didn't suffer from stuttering but Note 3 still feels super fast after that.
Eh eh
i love this HUGE Problematic posts that someone with zero posts apperas in android forums suddenly after sammy releases... really fun & great posts i love them
Thank you
Thank you all very much for all the responses! I called samsung and they told me that they don't know something about this and they will search for the issue and call me back after 3 business days.....

I watch YouTube videos all the time, no issues whatsoever. Try clearing cache/reinstalling youtube etc..
To OP: Either you have some really rogue app running in the background, or your phone is defective. I have none of these issues on my Note3 and I've had it since 25th of September.
Same issues here just did a system reset and will bring it back tomorrow if still the same. Very disappointed ofcourse!

I guess that my phone is defective. As I said in previous post I've reset the phone. I've cleaned the cache and reinstall it bebore reseting it. But the problem is not only on youtube. It is in almost all apps excluding build in video player. Now if I have to give it back and get a new one should I go to Samsung service or the store I've bought it? And one question more. If the phone is from a telephone company is there a chance the OS could be damaged from them. Are they touching the software before get it to the market? Because I've noticed that after every reset the first time I open Safari the start page is Vodafone. I've bought it without contract. Is there any possibility that all these happens for this reason?
Thank you all!
They finally changed my phone! At first they told me that this is a minor issue and they don't know if they could change the device for this...... Hahahaha in their dreams...........! I went to they store manager and I make him take my device and compare it with the store's demo device.. Finally he gave me a new one.. :victory: And it's working perfectly!!!! I really love it! I was very dissapointed at first with the other device because I was thinking that maybe that's how the phone is or I should be waiting for an update to fix their issue... :silly: Thank you all for your responses! You were very helpful! I'm very happy to belong in your forum community and from now on I will be very happy to help where ever I know my help!
