CM7.1 and FXP030 is the exact same ROM if I'm not mistaken
Haven't tested GingerDX but I like FXP so I stick with it.

How can anybody use CM7??? Official CM7 is slow! CM7 - 39 FPS GingerDX - 49 FPS It's a big difference! Neocore proves everything!

No, i'm using official rom and kernel!

Because doixanh has done some optimization in GDX! I dont know which, but he stated 2D in main post here. tbh I think GDX is the best modded CM7 build for X8. lots of optimization etc.

Maybe there are other things that are better on the oficial CM7 than in the GDX.
The all world doesn't need to play games on the mobile phone so maybe 3D Performance doesn't need to be high for a lot of people.
So the answer to "how can anybody use cm7?" is: It depends on the use that the person do and not of your tastes. Probably more than 90% of X8 Users have a PSP, a high-end Computer, a PS2, a PS3 or any other console.
Sorry for my bad english, i'm not a native english talker.

Oh sorry, I did not notice that ;/

No problem man, it happens i'm not angry with you, i'm angry with Velnens123 because he thinks that everybody is like him and wants a mobile phone to do what a console does, if he wants high FPS why he buys a X8, instead of buying a simple and cheap phone for Call/SMS and a PSP for gaming??!?

Velnens123 is only 12 years if im not wrong old so i think that is a reason why we should understand him about games on phone

I'm 15, small difference, but if he want a mobile phone for games there is the xperia play. If he saves some more money he can buy a xperia play and be satisfied -.-
I unlocked the bootloader right now, so people... Wifi is failing on cm7 kernel? If yes I will wait for the next kernel...
And a curiosity... The cm7 kernel has the SE boot logo? Or what logo it has?
Sorry for my bad English.

Its all ....but the thing i wanna say is that you dont need to angra at him just because he wanna play games and to all have money for better phone...

Yes but if he wants to play games he uses the rom that is more convenient for him and stops saying things like "how can anybody use cm7" -.- I respect the hard work of fxp, and I think he doesn't
Can some one answer to my questions in my previous post? Thanks

I just installed my first rom - Redemptive Revolution 1.8 (love it BTW) but it came with the newest HTC kernel, so that's what I am using. I dont even have SetCPU on my phone. You think the sub 1200 is about right for not having it?

The app is called "Quadrant" and you can find it in the android market. XD Theirs also "Linpack" that you can use to test out Mega Flops.
got these scores had to redo test becuase drocap didnt capture screen like i wanted as you can see.. had to use shootme for second test and score droped a little. Im on ROM The new guy v5 with the blue theme v2. with king kernal bfs #5..love the ROM
**edit
BTW i was reading above about app killing(which i usally do) and both these test were done w/o killing apps and such went straight to testing..

This is 100% legit & I currently hold the highest score I've ever seen. The system im running is in my sig & has no set cpu or overclocking enabled. It has parts of the operating system stored in the RAM which has much faster I/O than NAND.

Quadrant is an App
1. How are you doing a quadrant benchmark? Mine errors out at "decoding video". (10/12)
2. I am working on a 1.2 ghz overclock kernel. So far a lot of bugs, maybe that's why quadrant failed... if I succeed, I will try 1.4... if I can even out the major bugs I will release it.
Also, just want to add that on said kernel I got a 6752 overall in Chainfire...

You're likely getting an error at "decoding video" because you have used your camera. In order to get quadrant to work properly, you have to run a benchmark before you've opened the camera and caused it to force close.

I'm not sure how many times you've tried the test, but I did it about five times in a row and each time my score raised by about 150 until it steadied at 4200 or so. Make sure to free as much RAM and extra processor usage as possible using a task manager or similar. Also, are you at 1.1Ghz? That's what I'm at with the kernel that came with the CM7 pre-beta install. I believe it is faux's kernel.

My experience with Aurora is not at all bad. It is fast and mostly stable, but you will certainly find it slower than cm7 or stock for example. But there are no major bugs, only small annoyances from time to time. The only reason I'm not using it is low volume while playing music or videos with headphones. That's why I use a 32 kernel based ROM (in my case, Ezet cm 7.2). ROMs based in .32 kernel don't have any of the issues that the very poor work Huawei did with .35 kernel...

My experience with the rom has been nothing but a joy and fjsferreira is right - there are a few bugs but they are very minor. However some other users are having problems with the wifi.
I think best would be for yourself to try it, and if it doesn't work the way you want it to you can always revert back to what you're using now.

Benchmarks: GB vs ICS vs JB

Just for the curiosity sake, I did Antutu benchmark this morning on last ICS update, (unrooted, untouched bootloader). So, completely clean ICS with few applications installed, but nothing spectacular or heavy on resources.
It would be nice if someone could do the same benchmark on stock (and as clean as possible GB) just for the comparison sake. So that we could compare some things and see how much is ICS really slowing down our phones, and is our whining about ICS "crappiness" a little bit exaggerated.
Edit: Since people started posting various non-stock benchmarks, I'm changing thread name, and erasing stock prefix in front of ROMs. Till now this is general Arc S benchmark comparison thread.

Well this is something...
Stock ICS 587 fw with 65 apps already installed.
Well ICS is well known for its not smooth behavior.
On Nexus machines also.
So that's Google's feature, not Sony's.

How did you manage to get this score on stock ICS (overloaded with apps)? Quite amazing result you have. Yeah, ICS seems a bit choppier in general, compared to GB... Whatever ICS phone I played with, seems a bit choppy.
Not stock ICS, but thought I would share anyways.
First AnTuTu Run
CyanogenMod 9 (CM9 Kernel)
Approximately 40 apps installed
Great score Auxilium, no doubt...
What I've learned till now from this benchmarks, is that stock ICS is not that much weaker than stock GB, without any modifications. So the only explaination of choppier ICS behaviour is that ICS is choppier by its nature, compared to GB, and that it's not that much related to SONY and their "incompentence" as we like to say quite often.
And also, ICS obviously can score quite impressive results with some modifications.

Just deleted some apps from system.
Stock kernel with no cwm (using x-part) and link2sd.
(I guess if I didn't just restored Currents and Google+ it could score few points more).
Fully agree.
Kind Regards.
I get 4174 with Arconium GB and Doomkernel.
