Archos gen 8 101 hhgreg warranty - Gen8 General

Hey guys i bought an archos 101 a while ago and until recently have been pretty unhappy with it lack of google apps intergration took forever to get flash have to tweak everything just to get it to work decently but thats besides the point my question was really concerning hhgreg and their psp warranty. The tablet will still function fine im listening to pandora on it now but the screen wont always come on it takes at least 20 presses of the power/wake button to get the screen on,when i bought it from hhgreg they sold me the psp warranty which was 130 dollars when the tablet was 300 but they said they covered accidental damage and basicly everything even if there was a newer model out and something went wrong with mine during the two year period that they would give me the new model. Im 5 months in and the screen wont come on and the gen 9s are about to launch ive dealt with hhgreg before with mp3 players years ago and they were great about replacing them, i was wondering if you all think they would give me the gen 9 if i waited to make a claim until they launched and make good on their offer or if they would stick me with another gen 8. Has anyone dealt with hhgreg? and how is their customer service? thanks guys

Trade an Xbox 360 for your mogul

looking to trade my 360 for either a touch or mogul for sprint. Comes with two games, all wiring, one controller, headset. Im in Rhode Island and Id rather do it in person so that both parties are confident everything works.
more pics
I got some people asking me about a "red circle of death" I have no idea what that is because Im a ps3 guy. So I attached more pics of it working fine on my tv today.
"red circle of death" is when the XBOX dies (the ring around the power button turns red). It is a very common problem and Microsoft I believe has extended the warranty on them, but the takes weeks to get replaced. Some people at my work have had them replaced 5 or 6 times in the last year.
I have a 360 right now, i first got it 6 months after it came out, i had it replaced 4 times since then and it only took 2 weeks for me each time..
*EDIT*
If your sending in your 360 for the 3rd time just complain in act like a ****, they will give u a bran new one, i got a new one, free 1 month and an apology letter, cheer's
You get one really quickly because they send out refurbished ones that have been repaired with corrected heatsinks to lower the chance the rrod from overheating would happen again. Some look new, but my friends' was obvious it was used before. Refurbs are marked on the inside of the 360 and SN# are tracked.
Apparently refurbs that are being sent out turn out fine. Some have trouble. Unfortunatley, new 3 year warranty only covers rrod, nothing else. I bought a launch 360 and have never had a problem with it. *knock on wood*
Well a message in the box saying i got a bran new 360 was liying to me? doubt they will put new shells on all there refurbs. just to satisfy some people, mine is bran new..
im going to take this thread further off track and say that i fixed an RROD xenon this week with $8 spent at lowes and 30 minutes of work. now it runs cooler than my xephyr and on that note, i'd void my own warranty and rip those x-clamps out long before id send my RROD to MS to throw a heavier heatsink on the GPU and buy it a few hours of gaming time.
ill trade you my mogul for an xbox360 - but you didnt say the ESN has to be clear...
jk... but if you want to negotiate a motoQ and cash, or something else...pm
and if you have an RROD, ill fix it faster and better than MS if youre interested...

palm is the worst phone/company ever

I used to love this phone very much I can't stand it anymore. My last one treo 680 had was hanging once every 10 calls on an incoming call. Spent numerous hours reading forums trying all kinds of stuff including hard reset and manually inputting every single phonebook item. Nothing it just kept on hanging.
Recently bought a treo pro. Except for the inability to sync with a MacOS which is actually a major shortcoming the phone worked fine... At least until I found those f...in cracks on the phone body mentioned in one of the posts. Shipped to the warranty service which told me that the repair will take between 4-6 weeks. They are probably going to send it with the slowest post service to china and have it repaired there. 6 weeks is more than 10% of the warranty period.
In one word - the worst deal ever.
The second I get this phone back I'm selling it.
Cracks
I also found a little crack and asked them what to do; they arranged a pick-up service and it took about 10 days and I received a new one; so You might hope that it comes back faster (in my case it went to the UK and back).
Cracks...
Since I just happened to stumble upon this post, I might as well add my own little rant about Palm...
I purchase my Treo Pro Oct 31/08. In January I noticed the cracks everyone is talking about.. By the volume there 2 and one by the wireless button.
I live in Canada. The Treo Pro does not sell in Canada so I purchased mine online from the US.
Palm Canada will not honour the warranty because they do not sell it and told me since I purchased it in the US, I would have to speak with Palm US.
Palm US, will not honour the warranty because I do not have a US Shipping location. I do not know anyone in the US. Palm can easily arrange to drop the phone in to one of the many shipments going back and forth to Palm Canada but decided to tell me that it's my problem. Well. Nice Customer service. I spent $500 plus dollars for their phone, Palm could care a less about their customer, even when they know that the Cracks are a known issue.
Let me say one more thing here. The phone is made by HTC. The last phone I purchased was an HTC as well - The Vogue. You know, The one with the MSM-7500 Chipset with the Imageon (Missing) driver issue? One of the many HTC phones which HTC decided not to include the driver for? (See here.. http://www.htcclassaction.org/)
To say the least, I am a little pissed at HTC as well as Palm for dropping the ball in both cases. I will think very hard about the Pre, or any HTC products in the future (not).
In the meantime its has been already 5 weeks. Palm keeps saying that the phone is not ready yet. Isn't there like a maximum reparation time after which they must refund?
Bought a DVD player from Panasonic once. Since it had some problems I think we have to add them to the list of worst company as well
I tried numerous Palm devices wich worked just fine. With and without all the tweaking I do on devices.
Noticed a stuck pixel on my Palm Pro and Palm is going to repair it. So that's actually a plus since my old SPV e200 wasn't repaired and had the same problem..
I hope an admin is going to close this useless thread..
I have a Treo 750 and sofar im happy with it. I got it as a used phone but it was in a real good condition.
I had Treo 650,680,750 and now I have Treo Pro, and Centro as a second phone.
Only 650 I had to replace, it was unstable. The second one was OK.
I still believe, the PalmOS was the best mobile system - superfast response, simple interface, even my wife understood it . Today, I would crash the Treo Pro to the ground waiting for something to appear sometimes. But I still like this form factor and would not buy another phone.

If I buy a Nexus 7 will my screen left

After some research the most prevalent problem with the N7 is quite obviously screen lifting. However, most of the posts I see are months old. So I have a simple question: If I buy my nexus 7 on lets say October the 7th 2012, will it still have the same problems? Has Google even acknowledged the problems at all to any type of press? I heard something about if you serial number starts with C8 it will have a problem but if it starts with C9 it won't? Just want some clarification.
Google and Asus have said nothing about this obviously widespread problem, despite reports that Asus are applying epoxy to the screen and bezel in order to keep the screen down as of the C9 batch, according to some reports.
All depends on where you buy it from and how old their stock is. I bought my 8gb from Staples over a month ago and its perfectly fine.
I bought mine in early Aug. and there is no screen lift at all.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I'll order it from the play store? Unless there's a better way?
i got mine from asda and its fine
Get it from a brick and mortar store and By all means buy a extended /damage warranty from them or from Square trade. If you choose square trade . buy the warranty before you get the device. that way it will cover from minute you open the box...
If they are putting epoxy under the screen how would it be replaced or repaired.. This is kinda first i have heard of this but its quite likely true.. I think this could cause even more screen cracking issues. when weather conditions change .. glass must remain the ability to move . But held firmly in place.
Google play is extremely slow if you need to get a refund or exchange. you can exchange quick but they keep your money on hold for months...

Gamestop extended warranty scam

On July I've bought a TF300T on Gamestop... I've also bought the extended warranty...
Since few weeks ago I'm having some serious problems with the touchscreen, First it shows red areas where it is suposed to be black, some distortions, also shows some "ghost dots" like if someone was touching it even if no one is touching it, and most recently, sometimes with the tablet turned on the screen becomes completely dark or won't turn on at all.
Asus won't fix it since their warranty seal is broken and is unlocked (via asus unlock app but not rooted)...since here where I live Asus won't reach me a I took the device for repair since I need it for work...the guy told me that it's a factory problem... so no one can fix it but Asus...
The problem is that the seller at GameStop told me that the extended warranty would cover any changes on my device he said ANYTHING... etc... said that,,,
I went to the gameStop and they told me that their warranty will be valid only when Asus warranty expires,,, so I will have to keep the broken tablet for one year!!!!
Lessons learned:
1- NEVER BUY ON GAMESTOP AGAIN;
2- IF IN THERE'S NO OTHER GAME STORE ON THE PLANET... NEVER BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY
3- I WILL HAVE TO BUY AN IPAD.... SINCE A FRIEND HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SCREEN RESPONSE AND APPLE GAVE HIM A NEW ONE....
I actually just bought an Xbox tonight and they offered me the extended warranty on that. Their explanation was: "If anything goes wrong with the system, as long as the damage isn't your fault (like dropping it out a window or something), you can bring the system and your receipt into any Gamestop. You hand it to us, and we hand you a new system on the spot."
My guess is, those guys were just dicks. Try another store. Bring your receipt, bring your device, downplay any personal fault. All they need to know is, you bought the device from them with a warranty, and it don't work anymore. Try another store, be polite, and don't tell them anything that you did wrong, like bring it in the shower or spill duck sauce on it, and I bet you'll be walking out of that store with a new Transformer.

Extended warranties...
First off, never buy an extended warranty. Those things are scams.
I have bought three and two of those three felt like ripoffs. I'll never know about the third because I never had to claim it.
Ages ago I bought an MP3 player at Best Buy (this was before the iPod had even been announced). I decided to buy the extended warranty because this was an MP3 player with a built-in hard drive, and at the time that seemed like a pretty exotic setup and I wasn't too sure how long they would last. Well, it wasn't 'till I got home and read the fine print that I discovered that I had been sold a "one time replacement" warranty. So if I device died the next day, Best Buy would replace it and that's it: no more warranty. Now needless to say, that's not what I thought I was buying. I thought I was buying two years of warranty coverage. (FWIW: that MP3 player was stolen, and I eventually replaced it with an iPod I and later an iPod V. Though I've replaced the battery a couple of times, my iPod V has been going strong for seven years on that same Toshiba hard drive).
The second extended warranty I bought was on a refurbished Sharp laptop. This was a warranty straight from Sharp. Well, when the laptop stopped working one day I sent it in for repair. Sharp refused to honor the warranty claiming that 1) the laptop had been dropped and 2) I should never have been sold an extended warranty on a refurbished laptop in the first place. Now, I'm pretty sure that the laptop was dropped by the previous owner because I know that I never dropped it, and everyone in my family denies having dropped it themselves (though I cannot be 100% sure, of course).
But I agree with the other poster above: try a couple more GameStops before you give up.
It depends who you deal with really. Employees at best buy are the same way.

[Q] Nexus 4 Touch acting weird / flickering

Hi Nexus 4 Owners,
I got my phone in Dec,12 from the US and about last week the Touch Screen started acting weird. Jumpy, unusable and erratic, I cannot do anything since it keeps flickering, also the central strip on touch panel is dead. Tried rebooting and all other options but I guess its a hardware issue.
I just want to know if a lot of you guys have faced such an issue? Solutions?
Also, I have 2 options:
1) Repair it through the service center for Rs 5,250 to replace the touch panel. (Let me know if there are cheaper places in Mumbai)
2) Sell it as it is and buy a Nexus 5. (Need to know where can I sell since the touch panel is screwed)
Any help will really appreciated, since not sure if I should spend almost Rs 5.5k on a phone that's 11 months old.

Have you tried reformatting and reflashing stock?
And considering you bought it on Dec 12 don't you have 2 months warranty remaining? If your planning to sell might as well RMA and then sell.

Well, it was bought on launch day so I guess by the time I get it to the US from India, it'll be too late. I am using pure Stock since the start. No drops or other damages. Just one fine day it started malfunctioning, a friend of mine also had a similar problem so my main point is to know if this is a common occurrence and how have people resolved it.
http://www.reddit.com/r/nexus4/comments/1k4sfw/ - A thread for a similar issue that I found online.
Fwiw, sometimes my screen become unresponsive but I think it has more to do with the software than hardware at least in my case. Remember also, sometimes there are overlays on the screen which hinder the touch process...
Either way best of luck!

Try any 'Multitouch Test' application from PLAY and test every dot/area in the screen, see if there is a problem.
Maybe digitizer problem, the best way to replace it is with the whole screen, here is a original one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-F...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item232abea64c
It comes with the housing assembly.
Thanks guys. I have decided to get it repaired, paying approximately 95 USD to replace the Touch Panel/Screen from the official LG service center.
