Sorry if its a repost. So whos going to upgrade!

Im not biased to any phone. I like anything new and high powered. Cant get me wrong I love my Atrix but the Galaxy S II is tempting.
i'm pretty happy with my Atrix, i think i'm gonna hold off on upgrading until a decent quad core phone comes out on the market.
Not enough of an upgrade to think about it.
The Devs have really just started to take this phone to its capabilities so worth hanging in for a while longer.

When the SGSII came out back in... May(ish), it seems liked I should have not gotten an Atrix and waited for the SGSII to come to AT&T. the SGSII had a bigger screen, faster CPU, no Blur, no locked bootloader, and already had a pre-beta of Cyanogen out within two weeks of the phone hitting the international market.
Fast Foward to today. The Atrix has an unlocked bootloader, a *solid* beta of CM7, MIUI in the works, a bigger battery, and the performance is close to that of the SGS (in CM7 while OC'd) - in some tests it is noticeabley faster.
The SGSII also seems to have some hardware issues that have been reported. Yellowing of the screen on the left side is the most reported issue.
Now look to the future because the SGSII isn't going to come out for another two weeks. Should we have all waited to get an SGSII? No way, not IMHO. I was sitting on an iPhone 3GS for months and months after I was eligible for an upgrade, I was just waiting until something big came out or the phone died. I'll be honest, at first I did regret my Atrix purchase at times. Software versus 4.1.26 had a TON of bugs in it, 4.1.57 did too. 4.1.83 was solid, and when we got GB the phone was pretty solid. Now with CM7 I have no complaints over the phone at all, and I'm glad I didn't suffer with my iPhone 3GS for the last 7 months (I bougt the Atrix on release day) waiting for the SGSII after returning the Atrix to wait for the SGSII.
If I had waited this long for the SGSII with my iPhone 3GS, I would likely pass up the SGSII and wait for more info on the Nexus Prime.

One thing I don't miss going from my captivate to atrix is in the power usage menu "display" being like 95%. I don't know why they say SAMOLED use less power. I know the screen on the sgs and sgs2 is different but they're close enough IMO. Also after all the BS with GPS and poor update from Samsung I don't know if I could buy another. As far as specs....IMO I don't think it's worth the upgrade the specs are really similar. The only reason I might be tempted is for the dev support.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
as someone who has had both i can assure you the atrix is a much more all-around solid piece of hardware.
like reported above the screen on the SGSii may be bigger but it has its issues (yellow left on most handsets and battery consumption).
the battery is simply way worse then atrix.
and what got to me the most about going back to the atrix was the sound quality, it was simply horrendous, especially for a high-end phone like that.
the sound chip on it is sub-par compared to the original SGS even, with high end headphones i was getting distortions, low volume, and very un-even sound, to anyone who wants to listen to music on his phone this one simply kills the deal.
atrix has a very very good audio experience compared.
same goes for call quality.
and the phone doesnt even have a led for notifications.
also doesnt have an hdmi-out without you buying some special cable adapter.
what does seem to be on its side is a huge dev base working on it and realeasing things daily but the atrix is starting to catch up... just give it some time.
either way upgrading from a atrix to a galaxy 2 is pretty stupid, except for a bit larger screen you really dont get anything in return for all that cash.
i'd wait atleast another year before ditching the atrix. theres simply nothing today that it cant handle so why buy another "future proof" phone when your current one is still "future proof"
Definitely sticking with my atrix <3

It appears to have a lot of dev support, but how many of those ROM's are the exact same thing with a different theme? That's the way the Captivate was until CM7 dropped...everything was the same.

... the screen on the SGSII is so lustworthy... it oozes awesomeness. Other then that --- Atrix is better IMO.
i want both.
iphone5 too if its nice.
i just upgraded this july so no sgsII for me. the galaxy was going to be my upgrade, but it just took too long to come out. also, it's not gonna be the latest and greatest anymore like it would've been when it came out internationally, the sgsIII will probably be out internationally in 6 months since most phone lines get upgraded yearly.
my friend mentioned the PS Vita yesterday and i'm doing research on that to see if it has enough functions to become a phone for me.

I'd rather have an atrix with an average screen than have a SAMOLED that destroys my battery. I have an upgrade available and being 100% honest I'm waiting for a new BB QNX mobile phone to drop next year. The new 9810 with os7 was actually a pretty big step forward in speed and functionality and supposedly QNX will be able to run Android apps as well. Not saying it's gonna be the king of phones but it looks pretty cool.

My wife is getting it in October, about 2 weeks after it comes out. She is already in love with it and the fact that we are getting the NFC enabled version made her happier. She's almost as big a nerd as I am. (I'm not allowed to touch it, she wants to do everything on her own)

isn't the sgs2 screen still 800 x 480?
I have the infuse plus an atrix, while the screen on the infuse is so sexy,, the atrix for me has the total package,, the sgs2 for me is not that much of a upgrade from my atrix, even the infuse for that matter, sure it has godly specs, but in real world usage, even my old ass dinc still get the job done,,
I dont like where the smartphone market is heading.. things need to slow back down. alittle,, before you know it, the atrix 3 will be out 3 months after the atrix 2 at the end of the year, lol

yeah i forgot about that lower rez -- UGH -- why put it out at a lower rez then qHD? COME ON SAMMY.
The newer Super AMOLED Plus displays have more sub-pixels and they do not use pentile anymore which also helps eliminate the "grainy" look. I would still like to see qHD but I don't think there is going to be much to complain about on these screens.

try the official froyo update, from what i have read the gps works.
if it doesn't and it's important to you then get the atrix.
otherwise keep your cappy and wait for the galaxy S 2 or something else
I'm in the same boat, and from what I've been reading in these forums, people don't seem all that incredibly happy with the Atrix. I'm planning on waiting for the Galaxy S 2 myself. I don't know if I can deal with a non-SAMOLED screen now that I've had one!
I have the Atrix and the Captivate. I am happier with my Captivate than with my Atrix. Although I do like the power the Atrix has but I prefer the media support for the Captivate and I prefer Amoleds to the Atrix's display. Download speeds are disappointing too, considering it's supposed to be 4g. The Captivate gets faster speedtest results. Atrix's Hd video playback for mkv files is really choppy and embarrasing for a dual core phone. My recommendation would be to hold out for the S2. Quadrant scores aren't that impressive considering a single core Nexus S is on par with the Atrix. Quadrant Score for Atrix is in the 2500s where as the Nexus S was in the low 2000s untouched. I'm trying to give the Atrix a fair trial, but for now it seems as though it will be returned. I'll be waiting for the S2 or the Infuse.

Im returning my atrix. Im running serendipity 5.11 on my cap and I noticed that motoblur is far slower than my cap, I use launcher pro also. I don't care about the screen (its a phone and its plenty crisp an image, I have a laptop and a desktop for quality.)
I didn't test the gps. I thought the camera over all wasn't as good as the cap, but thays probably a software issue not hardware. Though its disappointing that companies (samsung included) release these phone and advertise and price them as the next best thing while including hardware, I.e. camera sensor, That has been around for a while already and is subpar to some phone that are a year old already.
It obvioulsy performs tasks quicker than the captivate because of the dual core, but I don't see the benefits yet, I can wait.
I will wait until there are hacks if I really want it but for now the price att wants does not support the benefits. The real reason to get one is the dock and they've made that so expensive and trying to call it tethering using the dock when its all phone is dumb. I was told buy my friends at att tell me I can't keep my unlimited and add tethering either.(edit, clarify, I can't add tethering if I want to keep my unlimited plan, its one or the other)
Over all, im not impressed. But im sure it will get better with updates. Im gonna stick it out for a while with the cap and see what happens. I may give the new htc one a go first, its not faster than the cap, but its got a bigger screen and camera sensor so....

See the GPS thread. THE ATRIX GPS WORKS!
Cappy doesn't. Atrix does.
Yeah, it really is that simple. Cappy is a little slimmer and lighter and has a nice bright screen--but who cares if the GPS will never work? And after two or three bogus fixes were issued and announced...who wants to wait and see?
And for the first time in all these years...a phone I've bought HAS A MESSAGE LIGHT! I can't tell you how nice a litle perq that is. Cappy doesn't have it.
Now, if they'd only put in a hole for a tether cord, because I'm often in places where a phone really doesn't want to get dropped.
Cappy gone. Hello Moto.
I have had 3 Captivates since they were released, and now I have an Atrix and Nexus One. Guess what, the Atrix is the best of all those. The Captivate is simply a garbage device, no way around it. No LED flash, no front facing camera, no LED notification, garbage GPS, slower, comes with trash TouchWiz, etc.

While I loved my Captivate, I must agree with you. Even with the best custom ROM for GPS (Paragon 6), GPS is hit or miss. Side by side, my wife's iPhone 4 and my Samsung Focus get a GPS lock much faster than the Captivate in difficult situations (indoors, cloudy day etc). I hope that the Atrix is better at this.
Another issue with the Captivate was battery life, which I hope the Atrix will be better at. Cheers.

Yep. Regardless of ROM, my GPS on every Captivate I have owned has been entirely broken. 10+ minutes in an open parking lot, no signal lock. Atrix locks in my car in 5 seconds.
I made the same change from the Captivate to Atrix. Overall I've had a good experience with the Atrix. My biggest complaint at this point is Moto Blur. It's just crap. IF you decide to get the Atrix just be prepared for the different screen. The Amoled screen is better than the screen on the Atrix. I do miss that a little bit. But then I dock it on the Lapdock and forget all about it
I got an atrix on day one on day two i boxed it back up am taking it back monday. After samoled i cold not take that screen. It was simply horrible to me. I am going to wait to see what samsung, htc, and apple bring out this summer.

Hmm; have you compared the two side by side? The Atrix is a lot clearer and has a higher resolution.

Atrix is a wonderful experience, especially compared to the Captivate which was horrible, especially after loading in all of my apps the Captivate just froze with everything....the Atrix flies! Get Launcher Pro and forget Motoblur, it sucks.
I thought about it. I work for the Shack an get a pretty good discount on the atrix but I am simply in love with my captivate. Love the amoled. Love the huge selection of custom roms. The phone is extremely snappy running paragon. I am just 100% satisfied with the captivate.

What about someone coming from a uk dhd, nexus s.... then a telus dhd.... my current desire hd, having hspa.... is great IMO, battery life could be better, but I have an extra battery...
Oh well, it will be here in 10 days, I guess that will decide all... but it is going to have to be great.... to make me ditch my dhd running cm7!
I'm torn in this decision too. I currently have a Nexus One and a Captivate. I was really thinking of selling the Captivate and getting either the Inspire or the Atrix. I messed around with both for about an hour and can honestly say I was a little let down by the Atrix. I really want to like this phone but I personally think the screen compared to the Captivate is just plain dull. Yeah, it has a higher res screen and I can appreciate that. BUT, the colors on the SAMOLED have spoiled me. I don't know what to do. The performance with a live wallpaper on my friend's Atrix was, frankly, pretty dang lousy for a phone that everyone has been raving about in terms of its speed. With a regular wallpaper the phone is certainly faster but it still didn't just blow me away. Also, the plastic build materials left a sour taste. Again, I really want to like this phone. I guess I'll check it out again and maybe have a change of heart. Anyone else think the way I do as far as the screen?
I'm coming from Captivate and just got my hands on Atrix and first thing which I noticed how washed out colors looks like on Atrix. It appears like somebody added 3 screen protectors on top of Amoled screen the way Atrix screen looks compared to Captivate.
Another thing I'm trying to figure out is according to some links there is different speeds for 4G on Infuse and 4G on Atrix. According to URL below it's looks like Infuse 2x faster on 4G then Atrix.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Infuse-4G,Motorola-ATRIX-4G/phones/5119,4982
Secondly it appears both front and back cameras are better on Infuse which matters for me.
So wondering if somebody made a switch from Atrix to Infuse and found those things are true and were worth switching over?

I own all three Atrix infuse and inspire. I'd just have to clear this one up. The Atrix and inspire both speedtest at the same speed. The is is fairly fast on the infuse and screen is nice on it too. But when trying to load heavier apps on the infuse its a hair slower than the Atrix.(stock)
I must say the infuse has a quieter speaker phone.... no all audio levels are lower than my Atrix but the camera is better on the infuse. Video is about the same.
Conclusions ..... I'd say infuse if your more into media(video type for the screen) and audio wasn't as good on loud speaker but headphones sounds fantastic when in call or music.
1:camera
2:screen
3:form factor vs Atrix
But it does lose to Atrix on these things...
1:loud speaker
2:resolution
3:battery life (as I can make longer than 6 hours on Bluetooth call while webbrowsing and text mms also while still having juice left.) (I talk to my twin about 4-7 hours a night recently at work without charging till I go to bed all on Bluetooth.)
4:CPU power

Try and ignore the trolls on the forums that can't handle questions...
One thing to consider with the Atrix is that it's a Tegra 2 device. If you care about some of the higher end games at all, you'll want the Tegra 2 over the single core 1Ghz on the Infuse as games are made specifically for Tegra and even with Chainfire won't run as well as say the dual core on the Galaxy S II.
The dual core itself, while not properly optimized, is in raw specs better than having the single core. Perhaps it won't be noticeable if you don't run many things at once though, so consider that if you like the shape or colors or something else on the Infuse a lot more.
I've dabbled in some photography stuff myself so I know what you mean when you say you want a better camera. If it appears that the Infuse has a better camera not just in pixel count but also in actual quality in demo shots, and that really is a strong factor for you, then you should definitely consider that. Neither the Infuse nor Atrix will really get to use the front camera right (in Google Talk, Skype, etc) until the Gingerbread update. We know that the Atrix should be getting its GB update quite soon, so you should consider that.
I'm not familiar with much about the Infuse as I've only played with it once at a store and decided it was a bit too big for me to want to use. You really should consider that factor as well, as though it may seem ok in the store, after using it for a week you may realise that it's a hassle. Also, the Infuse battery is smaller than the Atrix's.
Basically, what I'm saying is look at all the factors and decide what you think would be best for you. Colors will not matter much if the phone is slow running what you want to run on it, but speed won't matter as much if you want photos that look better, eh?
If you can handle waiting, I would wait for the Galaxy S II variant on AT&T to be released so you can compare that with the Atrix. It's a very strong competitor that would be definitely superior to the Infuse.
Nobody mentioned 4G data speed specs mentioned in first link. According to those specs Infuse is 2x faster then Atrix. What do you make out of that?

Then take your sorry ass somewhere else.
I have the Atrix with Gingerblur and both my sisters have the Infuse @ stock.
Atrix is not all that much worse than the Infuse, they are about on par when talking about colors. I give the Infuse a 10/10 and I give the Atrix about a 9/10 from all the smart phones I've used so far in terms of clarity. Atrix has about the same Clarity as my Dad's iPhone 4. Infuse just noticeably has bigger icons because of the superior resolution of the Atrix. Most things load faster on the Atrix. Infuse has the superior camera, but Atrix's camera is no slouch. You also can't go wrong with the Atrix's battery life span.
That being said, I had to go through two Atrix's before the third one was working properly in a span of 4 days. One of my Sister's phone's Camera died on her after the third day, but she got a replacement. Both of our phones have been working properly since the replacements.
Tegra is great and I've been playing Apps since day one. All games seem to run smoothly.

No matter what the speed says on paper it won't go any faster than what Atts hspa+ will allow which is supposedly 6 mbps, Att hasn't launched LTE yet. Have both. Not switching to or from, about the only thing i switch to and from would be my SIM, between my HTC Desire HDs, neXus S, InFuSe, Atrix and soon to be SGS II. Unfortunately the InFuse has less going on then the Atrix, which would make sense because its a couple months newer. I just love playin AB with that big-n-sexxxy 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus display. I even donated my 2nd InFuSe to an up and coming DEV about a month ago and nothin is happenin over in that neck of the woods...
I had an infuse for about two weeks, ran infused on it. Was a great phone. I returned the infuse for the atrix due to a few factors. Samsung will most likely not support the phone long due to sgs2. May or may not be true. I also have fell in love with the atrix, due to fingerprint reader, screen is nice once you havnt looked at the extream saturation on the samoled+. The way I see it the atrix is a little bit more future proof. If you have any questions pm me. I am on my phone right now otherwise I would elaborate some more.

But my question is, how is the display (screen) of the LG in comparison to the Super Amoled of the Vibrant.
Is the Vibrant Significantly better? are they similar?
Any input would be appreciated.

Us Galaxy S users have gotten spoiled by the AMOLED screen, I could never use another device that didn't have one, I even find the screen on the iPhone 4 to be lacking, but thats personal opinion.
As for upgrading to the G2x, save your cash and upgrade, my mother has one, basically no difference from the vibrant, except the lack of the AMOLED, which is the first thing you notice.

I was going to ask about the gps. I am really getting tired of not having a phone with a gps that I can trust to take me to my destination. I had the G1 and the HD2 and could trust both of those phones to take me to ther right place and not lose the signal 10 times on the way.
Working GPS doesn't mean a whole lot if the phone reboots or hard freezes to the point of requiring a battery pull at least 5 times a day.
I went through FOUR G2x's in a month and each and every one of them had the same problems...
I tried all of these:
Stock
Stock with absolutely no apps installed except for what came from the factory.
Stock with root
Stock with root , again with nothing but what came from the factory and superuser.
Custom ROM with root
CM7 with root
Under ALL of those conditions it had the same problems.
They should have named it the LG Crash-o-matic.
I'll take my Vibrant any day of the week over it.
By the way - don't let the "speed" fool you - they actually sped up the speed of the animations to make it look like it was faster.

actually my gps works fine (well as good as a vibrant can be expected to. on cm7 and i bought my vib on release date), since you didn't pick up on the obvious sarcasm....
I just got a G2x a few days ago and updated to official Gingerbread right away. So far, I have not experienced a single freeze or reboot. The GPS locks almost right away. I came from the Samsung Mesmerize (Galaxy S, SCH-I500) which had a TERRIBLE GPS.
As for the screen, the Mes may have been a little better but honestly the G2X still has a fantastic screen, one of the better ones. It's an IPS LCD just like the iPhone 4.
And the phone is FAST.

Umm, really? The Vibrant is a wonderful phone, but it's not nearly as powerful as the G2X. OP: Go to your local t-mobile store and compare the two side by side for yourself. That's the only way you'll know. But as others have said, unless you're going to another Samsung device, prepare to get a crummier screen.
I love everything about my new sensation, but I really miss SAMOLED.

Playing with the phone at the store and having one in your possession for more than just a few minutes are two TOTALLY different things... Sure, it may have a 1000 horsepower engine, but when it's running with only 1 quart of oil when it's supposed to have 4 or 5, things aren't going to run right.
The phone may be powerful, but it's a piece of junk when you get right down to it.
Yeah the screen on both phones are great, but why sacrifice a small screen difference for stock gingerbread, raw power (tegra 2 dual core) and a better camera, capable of 1080p. The gingerbread update fixed almost every single problem. The phone just flies. Yes our phones are great and I love the vibrant, but if you're looking for a powerhouse update soon, I'd go for the g2x

Cheers to this. It's weird seeing less activity these days due to people upgrading. I've learned a lot here in just one year of joining XDA.
This phone was awesome, I still have it laying around next to my computer, with WarmTwoPointThree, but this Rezound is such a perfect thing to upgrade to. It's nice to see a phone grow up like this, whereas with the inc, I started lurking here back when Sense 3.0 was going around, and the biggest thing. ICS Sense is awesome guys, just saying

Yeah, everyone here has been really helpful. But I'm starting to see other forums here develop similarly as their phones are rooted.
I was lucky that by the time I rooted my AMOLED DInc (a year after getting it), there was already a strong community here to help me through.
But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that, while HTC hardware is nice, I don't really like Sense (especially now that I've been running CM7 for a year now). If HTC introduces an HD phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, I'll be all over it. If it's a different vendor, then they will get my money. You see, now that I see how easy it is to customize a phone after it's gotten rooted, I really don't care too much about who made it.
And if I don't like any of the phones announced at MWC, I'll probably pick up an LG Spectrum and see what I can do with it...

i think im going to keep this phone till it dies. its the perfect size. i get great battery life and will all the development that has gone into it. It might not be supported but the great devs out there but it still lives on.
I'm so glad I went with the Incredible (although late). The only gripe is I use the 3500 extended battery and wished I didn't have to, as it does give it a bulky look.
But like they say, it's what's on the inside that counts right?
I notice I have been keeping tabs on the so-called HTC Edge/Endeavor that is supposed to be revealed next month.
Definitely a great community for help, and also some of the best dev's are here. I bought a Fascinate (for a semi-upgrade), and the community is lacking there. Sadly, I think I'll be parting the Incredible, for an upgrade to GN or Rezound.
If only HTC decided to make another Incredible with Rezound specs, and 4" 720p display with ICS/4G

A 4" screen is the most ideal IMO. I have no qualms with watching movies on the 3.7", but as I matured with the phone I guess I should step up in size as my video viewing has increased immensely.
A 4.7-ish" screen sounds scary but I'm sure I can adapt.
I finally went to see the nexus at my local Verizon last night and wow...compared to the inc screen, it is kinda big. I do want to get it for ICS, 4G, font facing camera, etc. but I don't really need a screen that big (that's how I feel), I guess I’m going to wait a bit longer to see what's coming out in the next few months. Plus, I hate the fact that after being a vz customer for a long time, the phone upgrade price is higher than a new customer price. (I saw new customer price on amazon.com for $99), why don't they have incentives for users to stay with the same company.
Also, I wish there was a doc or something listing the devs/themes/testers/etc. of the inc and where they are now in terms of dev/themes/etc, which phones they have moved on to....sometimes it would make switching a bit easier.
PS --- I love the droid incredible.

Exactly the same way I feel about the GN. The screen is too big, I wish it was like 4.3". That's my limiting point. 4.0" would be ideal, and add that with 720p resolution, that would be a dream come true. You have a high PPI, not to mention, smaller screen = lower battery consumption (compared to a bigger screen). I'm due for an upgrade next week, and I'm leaning towards the Rezound. I just wish that phone was thinner!

The GN is really only a 4.3" viewable area. Its just that they have on screen buttons that take up that extra .35" but yeah it goes seem huge. Rezound feels nice, so does the Razr. MAXX. And the battery on that thing is 3300mah!!!!!! Holy Cow!

I was able to pick up my dream phone (Weird how much we value these things now, isn't it?) August of last year after 4 months of research and another 4 of hunting one down. I found mine minty fresh used amOLED for $150 outright and never looked back.
1900mAh battery in stock back casing, Seidio Active Case, and Steinheil Ultra Clear screen protector.
So what does that give me? A small, quick phone with battery life up to 3 days, internet, maps (my favorite), and friends just a click away. There isn't a device made today that can touch us, which is why our Devs have gone so far.
Thank you everyone, now let's make it to the next course of dessert, shall we?
If it weren't for the Incredible, I wouldn't be set on an AMOLED screen for my next device. It is astounding how amazing it still looks even next to some of the latest devices!
I don't care what anyone says, I'm hoping to dive into a Nokia Windows phone next. Specifically, if some of the kinks are worked out and a couple more functions are added by the time June comes around, you better believe I'll be hitting tiles and text and shooting with a Carl Zeiss lens! UberMusic on my Dinc is just making the desire even more intense.

WP7 does look fairly cool and the features aren't much different from Android. You wouldn't lose much in regards to functions which is great. I have UberMusic as well and love the WP7 theme for it.

^ This. I've had my upgrade available for a while. The newer phones generally get worse battery life vs dINC with mods- and I'm also not a big fan of the super large screens. I easily lasted the day with stock, but I put on the 2150 just to make sure I never had to worry, so while my buddies with the samsung galaxy nexus and moto razr go to plug theirs in at work I'm not even worried.
There's huge amounts of development here, people are awesome (unlike some forums I've visited ), and there's nothing on my phone that I feel needs an upgrade. 3G speeds can stream HD youtube, web surf and stream internet radio flawless so I'm all set until this baby dies or there's some god-like phone that comes out.
This has been a great community, I like many others have moved on to other phones. It is still a great back up phone so it is nice to pop back in here to keep up to date on new mod and roms.
I believe many of you have come from galaxy SII or any other high end devices. I've had galaxy SII for 6 months and now I have to decide whether buy a galaxy SIII or not.I know S3 is much more powerful but seems to lack to present real new features. I doubt Whether it's worthy to upgrade or not. I would like to hear your opinion, however I appreciate sincere answers not only some radical misjudges.

I have the Epic Touch on Sprint (GS2), and I preordered. However, the more reviews I saw and sample photos and the like, I couldn't see that it was worth the upgrade and a new 2-year jail sentence with Sprint. I cancelled my preorder and will stay with the Epic Touch, which I'm very pleased with.
I'll say why I upgraded from my SGS2 which I loved, bigger is better. Wanted a bigger screen but not to sacrifice pocketability, so 4.7 or 4.8 was the ideal size next compared to the GNote.
I'm a sucker for new technology so quad core performance.
I went with the HOX to have a change. Also got the sgs3 to test so will say why I think it's a a good upgrade.
Bigger HD screen. Once you go HD you'll love it.
Notification light very useful from my BlackBerry days for multiple events.
Wolfson DAC s2 sound quality wasn't the best so having a Wolfson back is a pleasant move and if supercurio brings voodoo sound it'll be even better.
Better camera.
Quad core, it's fast but the sgs2 is no slouch either. Nothing maximises quad yet.
New Touchwiz slightly better than the previous version but not a sole reason to upgrade.
Smart stay is useful in certain situations.
It's an upgrade but not a huge upgrade. I still think if your happy with the sgs2 then no need to upgrade best to wait for prices to drop then make the move and any initial issues to be sorted out. My one has the yellow tint.

My Galaxy Nexus is like 8 months old, and looks about 5 years old the paint is mullered, the metal round camera is scuffed basically it looks ****ed.
My S2 never looked like that even after 18 months.
I have been out of contract for about four months, rocking a Thunderbolt, and I was just bored to tears with it. I've done all the ROM's and just wanted to move on.
I really considered dumping VZ, but it's hard to walk away from that damn network lol. I didn't see any other phone coming soon that interested me, including the HOX. I need sd card and removable battery, otherwise I'd be using an iphone.
Great specs need something else to play with as my nexus is phasing out.
This is not just a phone - Galaxy Nexus
I've been on an Epic 4G (Sprint's original Galaxy S) since it's launch. It's feeling quite dated even though CM9 has given it some new life. It was between the SGSIII or the HTC EVO LTE (One X). The non-removable battery on the HTC made my decision pretty easy.
I'm still more than happy with my sgs2, I won't be upgrading yet, this will do till the sgs4 - a real upgrade

I loved T-mobile's Galaxy s2, so the s3 was a must have.
I have a HTC Aria, its 2 years old only has 3G on it, iPhone size screen. I'm ready to upgrade. The battery life of the S3, doubles mine, the 2GB ram quadruples mine, and the processor well lets just not compare those.
Haha had an aria as well for a year then got an inspire... I thought I was making a huge jump
"All this knowledge is giving me a major brainer!"
My first Droid (coming from iPhone 3Gs) is this Thrill 4G. I went by specs and the 3D feature. Everyone said it was a gimmick, but I liked it and it will be the only thing I will miss about it.
Anyway, it turned out to be a real dog. Nothing but issues with my music (especially playlists), missed calls that it doesn't tell me about but I get the messages, slow camera and I could go on. I have restored it, rooted it, tweaked it and I am sick of it.
Two of my friends have GS2s and they have always been so much better and faster. So much more support. So much prettier, snappier, better pictures. But I waited. I waited for the successor. Now it is coming to the U.S. and I can finally trump my buddies! MUHAHAHAH!!! Then one of them ordered the GS3 also, but I'll have mine first! Maybe. Depends on the Judge I suppose.
Anyway, that's my story. Excuse me whilst I go back to converting my 3D pics to 2D.
I've had my captivate since late 2010, and though I've had a faster Android experience with the Transformer Prime, I'm ready to experience it in a phone.
Apart from that, I've really wanted LTE for a whole. 3G is just too slow.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
I've had an iPhone 3G (9 of them...) for the past 4 years. It's painstakingly slow! You guys don't even know! If i was being chased by a pack of wild tigers I'd probably get mauled before I could call 911 on this crap. Also for me, iOS is very stale and boring now. I want something new and FRESH! I love customizing everything I own and Android will allow me to do just that.
