Possible to disable Atrix phone charging while on Laptop Dock? - Atrix 4G General

as the title says!

Love to see this too.
I'd like the ability to enable/ disable, maybe depending on phone battery life?

If you are on CM7 you can enable/disable USB charging when plugged in

But the webtop doesn't work in CM7, so placing the phone in the lapdock is kind of pointless outside of charging. No?

Faster USB Charging?

I remember on my WinMo phones there was a program to speed up the charging through a USB port. Anyone know of a similar app, hack, what have you for our Heros?
all that ever got me was an overheated phone. and defective batteries

you could try a wireless charger, or use the normal wall charger or get a 3rd party battery.
I use a 3rd party battery, and my phone charges from Dead, to full in under 2 hours. i think my brand battery is a radioshack one but i dont remember, and im too lazy to look lol
If the phone detects that it's hooked to a USB port, it'll charge more slowly because the typical computer port will only output 500 mA. A wall charger typically does a full amp.

No thank you, i dont need something else to carry around. I work next to a computer. it just sucks that if my phone is near dead in the am when i arrive to work it will have to be tethered to the computer most of the day to fully recharge.

yes, thank you. i know. that's why i am asking for a program to trick the device into believing its always the wall charger while its plugged into anything with that program running.

There is no point in "tricking" the device to think it's the wall charger because what you want is the phone to charge up, not to beleive it's charged up when it's not. The usb port will not output more than 500mA. The phone will only charge as fast as 500mA will get you, no matter what tricks we try to pull on them.

Actually, most USB 2.0 ports can unofficially support up to 1000mA (which is indeed out of spec), with the only limitation from the device itself which when in spec will not draw more than 500mA. This is why no2chem's Fastcharge worked on WinMo phones, by increasing the maximum limit on the device.

I don't know where you're coming from, but the phone will indeed pull more current when it detects it's on a wall charger. I specifically remember seeing it in the manual.
Has anybody heard anything new on this matter, I really hate not being able to charge at 1A from a computer USB anymore. 500mA is pretty much useless, especially in constant usage, it pretty much just maintains the current %.
from less than 10% to 100% in about 30 minutes when plugged into the wall...turn your phone off while charging!! itll charge so much faster!!
This was specifically about usb....
I seem to remember hearing you can tweak some usb wires (I guess remove the data pins) so the phone thinks it's on AC but I'd want to have connectivity as well as the swift charging. Otherwise I'd have to have two cords on me, though I wonder if the phone charges "AC speed" while off (since there's no mind to talk to the PC's OS)

I know this does't work, as I have a cable with no data pins (it's a cheapy charge cable only) and it's still slow on a pc to charge.
Get a USB 3.0 port.

I have a belkin travel power surge protector with 3 outlets and 2 usb ports on it. The phone, when plugged into it, doesn't detect that it is plugged into AC power and just charges at USB speeds. Anybody know why? Will it only charge at AC speed if it detects the HTC supplied Ac adapter?

I have a cheapy cable too and that might be why it's still slow. I don't use the cable anymore because my TP used to charge at like 200mAh with it.

But the problem here is with the software not hardware lol, all someone has to do is change the value of "when connected to computer: Charge 1A" instead of "when connected to computer: Charge 0.5A" (simplified of course)

Because it was a stupid idea to ever limit the charge speed. lol

[Q] Charging the HTC Legend

Hey just wondering if I use a AC adapter to charge my Legend via USB, when its plugged in I can't unlock the phone, the screen seems to only recognise touch for about half a second, eg. I can swipe my finger to use the unlock bar but it only goes about half way to the right and the same thing for the mute button, it only goes about half way to the left.
Charging via USB connected to the computer works perfectly but it's just when I'm charging via AC adapter. Thought it was weird - might have something to do with the phone getting too much electricity through the AC?
AC charging works fo' me
It should work the same with or without charging.

is it possible to charge the tab by usb on computer??

hi, is there a possibility to charge the tab with an usb connected to my computer? maybe an app, or something?
Hi,
I do not know, if there is a certain app or tweak for that. But there are custom roms which support this feature. I've tested "GALAXY TASK 6.3" where charging with Usb is working. On the other hand it is not working with the overcome rom.
Best regards,
Bel.
i dont use custom rooms and dont want to, aint there any other possibiltys?
Pretty sure I remember seeing adapters you could "build" to get charging over usb working. It was in the Accessories section. Other than that, rooting and a custom rom (Tasks 6.3) allows it.

Well, you don't need to use a custom ROM to charge over USB, but you would need a custom kernel (pershoots). But I assume if you don't want to use a custom ROM then you probably don't want to use a custom kernel either.
Out of curiousity, if you don't want to use custom ROMs then why are you on XDA? It's sort of the central point of these forums...
Mine seams to charge over usb only if u turn the Tab off, which is not ideal but at least it is possible if u get stuck without a charger. I think the device requires too much current to run & charge at the same time, usb ports can only provide 500mA @ 5v

Yes it does. Just use one of Pershoot's kernels, and download the free script manager. And not to forget, the usb charge script txt file it self
Then it would run like a charm.

All PCs can charge the tab10.1 over usb.
On the tab display it shows that it isn't charging but if you leave the tab in standby and come back in 8 hours it will be charged, it just takes longer.
Some of the new motherboards have an option in the bios to enable charging of tablets which obviously ups the amperage on the usb ports and this also "fixes" the tab display to show charging and it also charges quicker.

my galaxy s4 isn't charging right

I plug in my phone, the charging light turns on, then it tells me to use the charger the phone came with - I am - so why does it tell me to use the original charger when I already am!?! And furthermore, it will just randomly stop charging and tell me that my phones battery is empty even though just a few seconds before it was at 50% I turn the phone on and it says that it's at 50% but it had stopped charging and told me that it didn't have ANY battery power, now I have to have my phone on when I charge it to prevent this, but I'm 99% sure that it would charge faster when it's turned off, why is my phone doing this and how can I change it?
P.S. what's better for charging, daydream or sleep mode?

What ROM are you using and have you flashed any custom kernel?
Sometimes you need to calibrate battery statistics in order to give correct charge.
Try a different cable.

Yes. The thin cords are 1 Amperes, while the thick ones are 2 Amperes.
Using a thin cord means it won't give the phone enough power.

Phone stops charging after Oreo Update. (On my second phone right now)

First of all I'm very sorry for posting on a developer Forum, I had lurked here for about a month looking for an answer and I can't find it. I wouldn't had made an account otherwise.
Here's my problem, my phone randomly stops charging (not notice neither) since the Oreo Update. I believe is because of the update because I return my old phone and bought a second phone and decided to leave it on Nougat, I decided to update it to Oreo because I missed notification badges and the day after I already had the same problem.
Things of Notice:
*Both phones where new and on the latest security patch.
*My phone does charge overnight when in wall socket but will stop charging when I used the USB on my car (my car has a USB adapter but if I charge it there, it will keep READING USB and repeating the cycle)
*Phone also stops charging when I use an extended battery. (I'm an avid Pokemon Go Player)
*Restating the phone a couple of times, fixes the issue.
Is there anything that I can do? everything else about the phone works perfectly (Facebook takes a long time to load but that's it). If there's an answer already please forward me to that post. Thanks again
Could it be because the update enabled quick charge, so now the phone requires a bigger energy output from the USB?
Does changing the cable help? If not, try doing a factory reset.

Since this is my first phone with USB type C I only have the one cable. I had notice the battery backup is charging so it seems like a problem with the car charger but I need to test it first. What charging output do I need to charge a modern phone like this?

I'm sorry I answer this late, I was unable to log into the site from my phone. (forgot the pasword). I did some testing in the weekend and it did charge on my laptop, it charge extremely slow., Just 3% in like an hour. (with constant use).
I kept using it with my power bank it kept charging reliably as well as in my house. But it keeps having the some problem at the car, So here's what I'm wondering. If I use one of those 3.0 USB car chargers will it charge my phone? without a problem to my car? I don't know if this phone supports fast charging (the specs says yes but I never seen the fast charging message with the regular charging)

No worries. Yes, laptop charging is slow.
I'm not sure if the stock ROM supports fast charging but custom ones do, and it can't harm your device. I don't see why it would harm your car if it was made for it. Maybe your car's USB port broke.

I have had the same reaction on one of my phones after updating to oreo.
Changing the charger from a 1A model to a 2,4A model solved the issue.
