I am running cm7 beta.Today my atrix refused to find any wifi network at my home. My lg optimus v had no problem. Its the same for the network at my school. I looked around in the forums and it seems this is not too uncommon. However it did connect to the school network and the network from my laptop through.
The wifi behaviour was pretty similar with the newest stock firmware too.
It seems the Wifi drivers are pretty shoddy. Is there anyway we can get better drivers for the atrix?
Thank you.
install a new radio.
Pribably what he said.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
I have the newest ATT radio. N-01.77.30p
The other one floating around is 1.97.00 i guess. Any known benefits from this one compared to the one I have?
It does seem to have a 1 bar bug. But if it gets me better wifi I dont really care
Thanks

Hey Guys, I just got a HD2 last night and I'm seeing a weird issue with the radio. While the phone is in one spot it will switch between 3 and no bars constantly this means marketplace and other apps just refuse to work. It was running the latest ROM out of the box which I've seen posts about radio issues.
Is there a fix for this?
Upgrade to 2.13 that fixes the radio issues. A lot of people have that issue and the latest ROM seems to fix that.

I'm running 2.13.531.1(90963) Release date 04/28/10 is that the newest?
Thats it - I've seen quite a few posts about radio issues even with the new rom on TMobile's forum. Since TMOBILE or HTC didn't provide a item by item fix list who knows if the radio was even modified. The only way to determine if there is a problem with the phone or the network is to take two TMOBILE phones and compare the signal/network in the same location. Haven't seen anyone really do that here. Would do it if I had another phone thats a non HD2.
Compared to ATT in my city Tmobile's network is VERY spotty. 3G coverage is strong to nonexistent even on the same road mile to mile. When its full bars 3G get about 800-900kbps on network speeds.
Go into a parking garage or building it will loose 3g. ATT's 3g signal is much stronger although their download speeds and internet speeds go from 1500 way down. Their network also feels slower - due to the number of IPHONES on the network sucking up bandwidth.

The new ROM has a different radio version number. I highly doubt HTC would issue a new version number for the radio without actually making any changes...somebody would figure that out pretty quick and they'd have some serious egg on their faces. That's the kind of shady business practice that companies take years to live down.
i do know that there was a few people back a couple weeks ago that got a G2 update that included tethering and the WiFi calling. but when is there actually going to be one? maybe to fix some of the random bugs, such as adding a notification light and such. any ideas?

My guess is that it will most likely be november 3rd. I say that because if tmobile is going to charge $15 extra for native tethering, they are going to need to give phones that didn't have that feature out of the box ie. G2 I'm not saying that people will pay for it, but since the g2 technically doesn't have wifi tethering as a froyo 2.2 feature, they will probably send out the update to have that feature installed when they charge for tethering on november 3rd. But jes my opinion

Tmobile is being greedy with their shiny new hspa

Well, so far my impression of their HSPA is that it is garbage. Maybe it is the G2, maybe it is their network, maybe the combination of both. The phone is a dream on WiFi, but an 80% of the time a stuttering joke on their network. Not gonna pay them one cent more to hang my PC onto that crap.

The G2 needs a radio update desperately. My myTouch 3G Slide was pretty bad before it got a radio update and then after that the phone was perfect. I was getting 6 Mb/s constantly in HSPA+ areas.
Their network is great, the phone just needs some help.

I couldn't agree with you more. The radio is crap and this is exactly how the slide was. The ota will fix it and hopefully those other features without patching the current root exploit.

Even my G1 was like that. When I first rooted it, I was having lots of data connection issues until I updated to a newer radio image. Huge difference. So whenever the G2 gets a radio update, hopefully it will clear up the signal problems.
What kind of signal problems are you having? Mine works quite well. If you need data it takes about a second to a second and half to link up then chugs along.

maybe, b/c i constantly pull 6Mb/s with my vibrant, while the G2 left me embarrassed competing against an EVO and a DroidX
my vibrant beat those phones btw
Will the update disable current apps like wireless tether, pdanet, easytether, barnacle and etc?
Sure hope not.
my phone is perfectly fine
What pisses me off is htc.com advertises this phone to have wifi tethering amongst other features that tmo decided not give us. WHY? Don't answer that. I know why.

hey, i bought a used nexus s 4g, and the condition is excellent.
having a slight issue, the guy i bought it from, had CM7 already loaded on the phone, well im having terrible signal problems.
seems like the phone cannot connect to 3g at all. Its either nothing no data, or if i turn on 4g, it can connect to 4g, but theres never any 3g. as you know, 4g isnt available everywhere and it kills my battery, so i wanna just have it hooked up to 3g but it cant.
i have an sprint arrive, which connects to evdo fine, and my friends evo 4g connects to 3g fine also.
i read nexus s 4g has signal issues, but how bad it is right now is just crazy.
still pretty new and trying to understand this stuff, so bare with me
Be sure to check your radio. Sprint released an update a while back and I believe you can find it in the stickies. Also, dont forget to update you profile and prl.
doooope!! updating PRL did it!!! thanks!!! i was thinking about getting rid of the phone because it became so annoying! life saver, thanks!
Bought my mom a Nexus 4 from the Play Store to replace her Galaxy Blaze (piece of ****) and it loses signal constantly at her house and at work. Just looking for some advice on what to do, as I'm not fairly sure it's a hardware problem.
From what I've seen the phone works perfectly fine and has service everywhere else with good coverage. My mom's house and work never had great coverage (always 0/1/2 bars with Blaze and S2) but she had Wi-Fi for internet and calling/texting always worked; they never lost service completely. Does the Nexus 4 have a lower strength antenna? We got her a new SIM card from T-Mobile and I had done the update to 4.3 while it was on Wi-Fi before we tested it at all.
At this point, I'm not sure whether to root and install different radios and void the warranty, or if it shouldn't be having these issues at all.
Thanks for any advice!
Need a little more info, what region are you located in? How long has this been happening, is it persistent or off and on? I've had similar issues lately in Houston TX. I'm here to help if you need it.

Please review this article http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/08/26/bug-watch-android-4-3-radio-bugs-causing-cell-connection-drops-on-some-nexus-4-handsets-fixes-in-sight/ from Android Police for your problem. It's a bug with version 4.3.
BTW, I just bought a Nexus 4 from swappa and I am also with T-Mobile and currently using Galaxy S Blaze What a coincidence!!!

Ok thanks taodan! That actually sounds like what it could be. I'll see how 4.2.2 works before I jump to any other conclusions.
Hopefully you got a good price since Google just lowered it to $199/$249 on the Play Store. Their price protection is getting us $100 back even though we got it a couple days before price change.
I had the same issue with the 4.3 radio, flashing the 4.2.2 radio has alleviated my problems.

Couple days late but for anyone having this specific issue, the 4.2.2 radio has solved all problems!
If the stupid "unstable" internet connection thing were to get fixed, I think I would finally have a perfect phone. And please don't say it's my router or that it works fine for you.... The wifi thing is a problem, and this is my second Note 3, and they both do the exact same thing. Everything else works fine with my router setup (FIOS), so to suggest that something needs changed there doesn't make any sense.
So, simply, does the OTA fix the WiFi connectivity problem?

I can't answer that unfortunately. I used to have the same problem at work (they used DLink access points which have problems with Samsung). They just replaced them all with HP hardware and I haven't had the error at all any more.
What I can say is that everything radio seems better for me with this update. I get 2 more bars for cellular reception as well as much better bluetooth clarity.

Service bars are just a visual thing. You have to check the actual reception numbers to see if your cellular reception has improved at all. I have been using my D-Link router with my Note 3 (as well as my previous S3) and the WiFi connection is rock solid. Maybe some of the networking equipment you had at work was older, but Samsung phones and D-Link equipment can connect without issue.

I'm aware that the bars can be played with by the carrier.
I used to lose my call twice on the way to work every day. Today I drove all the way without garble or a dropped call. I think the bars are real this time. I haven't checked the actual DB signal strength before so I don't have a good comparison.

I will not tell you that it's your router, because I don't think it is. However, I will tell you that I think it must have something to do with the software/hardware interface or there is something conflicting in the phone, because I did not have the "unstable" wifi issue on MJ7 at all, and after the update to MJE, I get the error every now and then.
Just my experience.

Fortunately for me, I do have the unlimited data, so I always have the option to just use the LTE signal. If I didn't, I would have had to return the phone or my bill would be through the roof. Everything else works fine with my home WiFi, but the Note 3 gives me the "your internet connection is unstable" message, regardless of my proximity to the router i.e. sitting right next to it!! At this point, with there being 2 or 3 "updates" since the phone was released, I have to say it's looking like a hardware problem. Otherwise where's the fix? BTW this is my 2nd Note 3 as I returned the first one thinking I got a lemon. The new one does the exact same thing. Wifi is a pretty basic function of a phone. If they can't get that right, I may have to think twice before I buy Samsung again. Do they not do any testing?

I asked VZW tech the same question "Don't you people test the device before it gets sold”? Like you sir this makes my 2nd note 3 I bought my first one on the edge program around the first week of NOV of this year. Do you have talk signal bars when your WiFi drops or have you noticed? What I've noticed is that when I lose signal "talk"not "WiFi", then my WiFi drops. I talked to VZW tech yesterday and they said Samsung is aware of the WiFi problem and that Samsung is working on a patch that will fix this problem. I hope Samsung fixes this problem soon because if it doesn't get fixed I will never buy another Samsung device, I'll go back to Nexus.
Retail N3
I found that when we're offshore and I don't have signal mine doesn't give the notice...As soon as I get service again it gives the notice. Our wifi onboard is extremely slow but it doesn't say anything when it's the only option
