I don't think so, at least not without dropcap (see above post) You should also update your ROM, yours is so old lol.

CM7 does have screenshot built into it once you hold down power button it one of the option besides power off, reboot, etc

My ROM is old.... just realised. I'm no expert when it comes to flashing new ROMS... is it as simple as downloading the newest ROM (possibly typhoon) and installing it ..... or do I have to do a complete 'clean' install as described in

All help much appreciated,
Thanks,

So does CM7, I just assumed that since the OPs ROM is so old it wouldn't.

I have ROM MANAGER installed and it gives various options such as .... download ROM and install ROM from SD card. I've downloaded one the newest Typhoon ROMS and it asks if I want to back up my previous ROM (I ticked yes) and then it says it will restart the phone and install ..... it does restart the phone, but doesn't install? Any ideas.
Am I being stupid in saying that if I install this newer ROM it should overwrite the existing ROM?

u can backup ur rom in 1 step, manually restart the phone and then install the new rom manually..

I wouldn't advise using ROM manager, I'm not sure it works on the HD2 (if you have MAGLDR at least) and you can just use Clockworkmod.

Problem installing CWM

Hello,
a month before i flashed my HTC HD2 to a DFT Froyo 2.2 Sense ROM.
Softwareversions as i undestand them are the following
Magldr 1.13
Android 2.2
Baseband 15.38.50.07U_2.10.50.19_2
Kernel 2.6.32.15 by cotulla
BuildNo 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys
SoftwareNo. 2.29.405.5
Browser Webkit 3.1
I found the information to do this around in the internet. Knowing about XDA i decided to flash my Desire HD to Revolution HD. After having done the flash i found a lot more stuff around XDA and decided to flash my HD2 again to a newer mod.
Having bought CWM i thought it would be easy to flash the HD2 to another mod, but after installing ROM-Manager i wasn't and still am not able to install CWM. From the info shown in german, i would translate the following german text:"Bei der Ausführung von privilegierten Kommandos ist ein Fehler aufgetreten!" to "An error happened on execution of privilegised commands"
And now i'm stuck on this and don't know what to do. Afaik i would estimate this being a fault of SU which was installed with the ROM, but i really don't know it.
i would appreciate any help or hint.
Thx
Kai
Hi,
Unfortunately, ROM manager does not work with magldr...
If you want to use it ,you need to install cLK.Have a look at my sig...guide number 2
Did you buy CWM?("Having bought CWM i thought it would be easy to flash the HD2 to another mod,")
Should not have to pay for it.

No, you don't have to switch, the only difference is you manually enter cwm rather than the phone automatically entering cwm for you. just don't use rom manager. Read the cwm thread, in android nand development thread all info is there including free download links.( I'd be REALLY unhappy at whoever sold you cwm!, and in fact isn't it released under a freeware license? Making resale illegal?)

There is a free and paid version of ROM Manager in the Android market. The free version works good, but the paid version has added benefits of course, like installing from QR code, checjking for OTA ROM updates, aqnd more avaliable ROM downloads.

Hm. liking the way it works on Desire HD, is there a reason not to switch to clk and stay with magldr?
I would like to play with the HD2 as much as possible, so it would be really fine, if i was able to switch between roms as easy, as in Desire HD, working with rom-manager and CWM.

Hi,
For me I'm using magldr and I find it easy switching between ROMS,because I am used to it.I cannot vouch for clk ,because I have not tried it yet,but I'm told it is much more native to android, therefore more user friendly.
If I were you, stick with magldr for a while, then change to see the difference..

Yeah but with MAGLDR you have to boot into MAGLDR, then into CWM, then select to do a backup, then select to wipe your data your cachje and delvik cache, then go and select to flash your ROM. With cLK you install ROM Manager from the Android market then just open ROM manager and select "Install ROM from SD Card" then pick the ROM from SD card. Then a window opens in ROM Manager and you check the box to :"Backup Existing ROM", "Wipe Data and Cache", and "Wipe Delvik Cache". Then you tap ok and it automatically boots into CWM and executes all the commands then flashes the ROM and reboots the device when it is done flashing the ROM. Remember you did all the set up in Android itself. Plus ROM Manager has like a hole bunch of other options. You seee ROM Manager is a interface for CWM in Android. You can even use ROM manager to flash CWM, I just flashed to CWM version 3.1.0.0 tonight with it, and gues what that is because it told me it was a update avaliable for CWM when I opened ROM Manager. Not to mention the fact you do not have to worry about making CWM the right partition size anymore cuase cLK sets the partition sizes when you flash, it is like auto pilot. But the best of all you can actually turn your HD2 off and charge it using cLK, you don't get that with MAGLDR.

So you can set the partition size in android?
Does that mean you can load a ROM without the use of a PC?

That looked quite strange to me. I had to choose right CWM first, before flashing the ROM. on my Desire HD i'm able to download the ROM with the DHD and afterwards flashing it directly from the SD-Card.
Yes, without using a PC. Dunno if it's possible like that on the LEO using CLK.
Bu i've got a Question about CLK. If using it, is it hard to switch back to a WinMobile ROM?
Switching back to winmo is the same for both magldr and clk,,,, flash your phones correct stock rom.
I can't add anything to the pros and cons of clk, I plain and simply can't get it to instal. I suspect its something left over from when I installed the android sdk and eclipse, followed by wp7 sdk , just can't get the command line to pass commands to the phone (required to initially set up clk)
Next time I clean reinstall my PC I'll try again, but till then magldr for me.(which is fine, I've always preferred doing stuff manually, automation takes the fun out of it for me)

From what I understand cLK sets the partition size when using it so you do not have to. I mean you can flash CWM via ROM Manager and it does not ask you what partition size you want, it just flashes it. Also you can download and flash a ROM just using ROM manager, you never have to touch a computer. Now granted the only ROM I see available right now is Hyperdriod and a Cyanogen Mod ROMs, but I am sure more will become available when more people switch to cLK and can use ROM Manager. Right now when I touch on Download ROM I see this.
Extras
Cool stuff (This gives me 2 choices for Superuser one says 2.3.6.1 cd and the other says 2.3.6.1 ef)
charansingh
Mods and Bacon for your phone ( I get 3 Cyanogen Mod choices 7.0.0, 7.0.0-RC4, and 7.0.0-RC2)
Hyperdroid
Hyperdroid is the InsanelyFast & Incredibly Smooth Custom Android ROM that will blow you away Awwsomeness! (I get 2 choices HyperDroid-GBX-v12 and v11)
Google Apps
Add-on for AOSP ROMs, such as CM (I get 4 choices here 20110503 Universal, 20110307 Universal, 20110120 Universal,20110115 Universal, 20110114 Universal, but the 20110120, 20110115, and 20110114 says they are for 2.3.2 and no longer supported.

Hey San have you tryied adding the directory to your "Enviroment Variables" on your computer. This will allow you to open a command prompt up that is in the directory you need to get CWM flashed. Go to the nand android section and choose a rom you want to have . There are several ways to install a rom.. One is to flash clockworkmod (just search a little bit and you will find a how to )), with it u can flash a rom from your sd card
There is much to say, but u should read the stickie thread where you will get all information you have to know

2 possibles,, either bad download, download it again, or,, you select choose zip from sd card, and not install update.zip
You should try to install the zip manually?! there is an option to install a zip of you choice.. Browse for your zip and install it..

Hi,
Each ROM will probably have different CWM partitions to flash before you try loading the ROM.Make sure you flash correct one.
Then make a note of the ROM.CWM does not find the ROM for you.
In ad recovery, choose install ROM from zip, then choose ROM from zip,Then scroll up and down with volume button until you find you zip.
Also make sure you place zip on root of your card using a card reader.
This will avoid any corruption of data in the transfer process.

Just currious, check your sd card, since you have CWR windows do partition by CWR, use card reader to copy your rom then put on phone, ensure you have zip file extension not rar/7zip or other compression type.

There are many possibilities on this case : Check your ROM and ensure matching with yur CWR Partition lay out, i.e some rom with 150 MB partition lay out, need 158 MB partition lay out
For your phone can not go into bootloader, its clueless for me. Wether the hardware failure or bootloader corrupts.
Please also check hold vol Up and Down + Power Button to reach DEFAULT FACTORY RESET MODE, also check the red button inside the phone : open battery cover there is reset small red button. Just push (with pen/pencil) and what happening

I have android but it's not rooted?!

Hi,
i bought an HTC HD2 and it has android, but it's not a rooted android...
and it doesn't use magldr but something like
android system recovery <e3>
so i don't know how to flash a rom to change the rom to a rooted one...
i found a link that explains how to install a flash but it's only possible on a rooted phone... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dHVdAtG1Ew&feature=player_embedded#at=151
that's how it's done, with terminal emulator (from market) but i don't have permission, because i'm not rooted (thats what i make of it) and i've downloaded root checker from market, which sais i'm not on a rooted phone...
so anyone have an idea to fix my problem ?
problem 1 how to root my phone
EDIT I ROOTED MY PHONE WITH Z4ROOT and used terminal emulator, inserted the commands, everything goes fine until i put in command reboot recovery, than it reboots, but doesn't do anything when at startup screen
problem 2 how to get another rom on my phone

Did u check if it's a chineese mobile?

Is this a real HD2?
At the OP, if you have a real HD2 and not a clone HD2/fake HD2. And if your HD2 is not using MAGLDR for it's custom bootloader for Andriod, then it has to be using cLK. To flash new ROMs with cLK you have to use Clockwork Mod Recovery to flash a new ROM. Just go check out my guide linked my sig. I give a total break down of cLK and Clockwork Mod Recovery. Just look through the sections on both and it will tell you how to pull up clockwork Mod Recovery at boot up and how to use Clockwork Mod Recovery to flash a new ROM. If you have any trouble post back here or P.M. me.
Now what is wierd to me is the fact you said your ROM was not rooted, all Android ROMs for the HD2 are rooted I do believe. the onlything I know of that causes a rooted ROM to seem like it is not is if your superuser needs to be updated.

Ok, as you are in the bootloader mode. Download this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
And run Task29. This will delete everything but your radio on the phone so you will have to reflash Magldr. You can use this tool to flash magldr also. If you get that far then partition the phone according to the rom instructions. Then try to flash the rom again.

[Q] VilliamROM v 13.00 for Hero telus?

My hero is from telus and is now rooted . Can I get VilliamROM v13.00 for this phone? and can anyone direct me to a GUIDE on how to install....
I have ROM manager installed but cannot locate any ROM? I have been trying many things none seem to work. I would gladly donate to any ROM that helps my phone work quicker any gives me some free memory, many thanks, Mike

if you installed clockwork mode on your phone, it's easy to install a custom rom.
To get VR 13 you have to download the rom first and copy it to your SD card root. After that you have to reboot your phone into recovery mode, by pressing for a few seconds Home + Power button when the phone is OFF.
After entering the recovery mode, i recommend you do the next steps that are very easy?
1. Backup you existing ROM (the is a section that is called Backup and Restore)
2. Wipe phone data
3. Wipe cache partition
4. Go to advanced -> and wipe dalvik
5. Press back to get back to the main menu and chose to install zip from SD card and after that Chose the ZIP and select the VR 13 ZIP and install it.
6.After installation i recommend that you flash Flykernel 13. You install it just like the rom. You chose the zip and install it. After flashing the kernel you reboot your phone and wait 10 minutes
7. When the phone is ready it enters setup mode and you know what to do from there
8. Ejnoy the new rom
If you have any other problems leave a message.
Stefan

It means you shouldn't save it to a folder on the SD-card

Sorry missed the other questions
1)Yes it should work in Canada
2)The backup is saved to your SD-card in the clockworkmod-folder, it will then display in rom manager (if it's installed).
You can also get to the backup through the recovery. (The same place were you installed the rom) by holding home+power on startup
Cheers

many thanks, will give it a try, Mike
When I hold the home and power and it comes on I just get a red Triangle, I have Titanium back up and did a full back-up and used ROM manager as well, any suggestions, thanks,
my phone is fully rooted
You need to install a recovery.
Tap "Flash ClockworkMod recovery" in rom manager. When it's done follow stefpaul's instructions
