The 5 Contacts from the Keypad Button Flex Cable Ribbon under the Plastic-Buttons are sensitive. They holt and work very long ( if you are nice to them ), but during the time the "simple Constuction" ( it´s only a simple round Metall-Frog thats bring to Contacts together ) failed. You have to disassambling you HD2 and build i a new Keypad Button Flex Cable Ribbon...
You need this here:

and have to place it here inside the Middle-Chassis:
The Keypad Button Flex Cable Ribbon is -praise the lord- very cheap (5-7 Euro) but sits deep inside you HD2, so it´s a lot of work for minimum 30-60 Minutes...

I have following problem with buttons "back" and "home" (order 3rd and 4th from left to right) which are on the same hardware key: if I use "back" button it works but in addition it locks me the touch screen too. The same for the button "home". I have to press on/off button in order to go in standby and come back for unlocking the screen.
Now I use WP7 HD2O 1.26 but I tried also other different roms of WP. The problem persists in all cases.
I've been to HTC service for asking if they can replace "Keypad Button Flex Cable Ribbon" and they told me that they can't replace only that because the standard procedure is to replace all Flex Cable + Touch Screen. Because I'm out of guaranty I should pay about 200Euros!!. They can't even supply me only the flex cable.
I would really appreciate if you can help me with answers to these:
1. Is "my case" the same problem related to the "Keypad Button Flex Cable Ribbon"?
2. If yes, there are other solutions to order this part and then to replace it?
3. There are other solutions?
Thank you.

powering off the device

Does anyone know if there is a free application that provides an icon on the Today screen to power off the device instead of having to hold down the power off button on top next to the card slot? I have an icon on the Today screen to soft reset. One to power off would be great!

It is built into Faria's ROMs if you are using them (the little green thing in the icon bar).

I have a Cingular 8125
I use psShutXP.
Dunno if it's free or not though.
It can put a little icon in the tray and then when you click it:

I don't see how this would benefit you because you still need to hold down the button to turn the power back on. This sounds like a hardware issue.
cool application....

true...but that's what i take my battery out for
and it is a hardware issue, i just dont know where to get it fixed
Oooh, I'm sorry you have to do all this! If the device is still under warranty, the mfg. should ffix it. By the way, I found a cab file from pda gold website called "power off", installed it to my device, and made the mistake of copying the file to windows/start-up in file explorer as a shortcut. Doing this stopped my device from starting so I had to do a hard reset. Since my device would not start, the only way I could hard reset (for those who had the same problem) was to press the comm manager button, the voice record button, and sticking the stylus in the reset hole at the same time (not an easy task), release the buttons and stylus, and then press the green arrow (send) button. This sends a message telling the mfg. to set the device back to factory settings. I got this info from tech support at Cingular.

I found psShutXP @ PDA GOLD.COM..but mine says SHUT DOWN instead of TURN OFF. My screen just turns black & I can still see everything thru the dark screen. I want something to completely turn the device off. Yes this is free software.
yea...its not under warranty i think there is somewhere i can go to get it fixed, just dont wanna have to shell out alot of $$$ to get it done

hardware button problem; button 2

the internet explorer iconed button, on the top left hand corner; Button 2
is kinda playing up
It seems it is almost permanently pressed, though it doesn't seem stuck, when it is enabled the shortcut program or function continues to run; e.g. pie keeps starting (I've tried changing the shortcut and there's the same effect on any function I set to the button)
I've done a hard-reset, changed rom, but it persists, so its definitely a hardware fault. The main problem with it is, even if I minimize PIE for example, the hardware buttons remain unusable unless i unassign everything from that button.
I've tried cleaning where i can etc. but to no avail
its not a huge problem, heck it doesn't really matter if I need to keep that button without function, its just one of those little annoying and niggly problems, and maybe someone else has had the same and found a solution
if not its ok, and thank for reading

The above picture shows the two micro-switches (Silver blocks with round black protrusions). It would be well nigh impossible to dismantle these - replacement may be possible, though I suspect you would only be able to buy the board complete.
You say you have tried cleaning. Do you mean externally or internally. It may be possible that the micro switch is not releasing due to a detritus build up internally or some misalignment of the pasic facia switch cover. The micr-switches even when pressed via the facia plastic should give a discernable soft click when pressed.
Mike
firstly thank you very much, for all your effor, its well appreciated my friend.
I've tried cleaning externally only and yes it probably is a buildup of dirt internally, but I don't think I'll be dismantling the device as its only a small proble, and once I've removed the assigned function from that button its not problematic. But if it gets worse, starts again etc. I'll have to, so thanks very much.
Thank you.
No probs. Might just start working again by itself if the blockage gets dislodged.

Lock the screen after dialing a call

Hi all,
Is there a way to lock the screen after making a call? Obviously you can't hold down the end key (or at least I can't) without hanging up the call and I have AE Button set up to screen lock with a two press of the volume up button but when I do that, the volume just adjusts. Any ideas?
Thanks,

are you looking to disable the display so you don't launch programs with your face? if so, consider using a quick press of the power button to turn off the display screen.

Actually what happens is when I use my bluetooth, I'll dial the number then turn off the screen (with the power button) and put the HD back into the case. When the call finishes, the screen will come back on and that's when I'll sometimes get misc. screen touches.
Thanks,
Ho'okani

I got a problem -- i'm not sure if this is a bug, but I cannot access any buttons on the screen when I call out
-- I cannot enable speaker
-- I cannot enable mute
-- I cannot add call
-- I cannot put the call on hold
-- I cannot hit the buttons under keypad and end call or any of those keys, the screen is literally unresponsive, I have to press the physical button to hang up.
I'm not sure what's going on. this is one of L26's older roms, I think I downloaded this rom on 2/18
If anyone has an answer please let me know, I would like to have these re-enabled. the screen doesn't respond to any of the presses.
if I slide around the end call or keypad I kinda get a response, but it's seldom.
Everything else is working great.
HTC HD2 T9193 (some reason it reads 8585 after the new flash)

I got the same bug after flashing a new ROM. But I could solve it by disabling the "tap time" setting in BsB tweaks in my case. If you are using the above tool, try the above suggestion. Good Luck!
thanks,
I think I found another way around it
if you slide your fingers across the buttons it works, dunno if it was intentional, but it's annoying
I think your using L26's V1.2 CAB (brilliant, btw - still using it).
I recall picking up "L26 Lockscreenfix.cab" in an attempt to prevent my ear conferencing in friends whilst talking using the capacitive screen before I found the wonderful S2U2 application. I think that the L26 Lockscreenfix does exactly what you described. I don't recall if it's uninstallable but look at your installed programs list and see if it's listed.
Good luck. Tom

any 3 finger salute reboot for hd2?

is there any way to 3 finger salute hd2? so you dont have to pull battery when os is freezing
reson is i use otterbox defender, and softreset button or pull battery when os freezing is a really tedious and tiring process
help please, maybe there is any hidden hardbutton combination to softreset?
or maybe anyone could make or mod it?
This is the only solution I've found:

Cool! Is there any special reason for such a huge hole? It just seems to me that a 1mm hole should be sufficient.
By the way, I've also made two 1mm holes in the otter box defender's left bottom plastic stud (the mic opening is in the right one) - they hold a lanyard perfectly (will make an image and post in a new thread soon).
If you are using android press the volume up+down+power button
Right, but don't try that with WM, it's for factory reset (all you data will be gone).
Hmm! May be it's really possible with custom ROMS and/or boot loaders then?
If the OS freezes then NO software will be running, therefore it is not possible to do what the OP is asking.
But what about the factory reset? If it will work, perhaps it can be intercepted?
Factory reset means hard reset, which is powering off the device and holding both volume buttons down whilst powering it back up - that can't be done through software if the OS is frozen. The only way to do that would be to press the reset button or remove/replace the battery.
There is literally 100% no way to power off or reset the device through software, if the OS if frozen.
Well, sometimes it's hard to tell if that's the entire OS is frozen, or just some software is too hungry for resources. I had an issue with the Core Player (TCPMP) freezing, which was blocking all the buttons and the screen taps together, but sometimes unfreeze them for a moment and go through the keypress events queue for a couple of steps. So the events were registered anyway. That happened only 3 times in 15 minutes, so I had to reset the device... The point is - a reset combination handled at the lowest OS level might be of a great help.
