any 3 finger salute reboot for hd2? - HD2 General

is there any way to 3 finger salute hd2? so you dont have to pull battery when os is freezing
reson is i use otterbox defender, and softreset button or pull battery when os freezing is a really tedious and tiring process
help please, maybe there is any hidden hardbutton combination to softreset?

or maybe anyone could make or mod it?

This is the only solution I've found:

Cool! Is there any special reason for such a huge hole? It just seems to me that a 1mm hole should be sufficient.
By the way, I've also made two 1mm holes in the otter box defender's left bottom plastic stud (the mic opening is in the right one) - they hold a lanyard perfectly (will make an image and post in a new thread soon).

If you are using android press the volume up+down+power button

Right, but don't try that with WM, it's for factory reset (all you data will be gone).
Hmm! May be it's really possible with custom ROMS and/or boot loaders then?

If the OS freezes then NO software will be running, therefore it is not possible to do what the OP is asking.

But what about the factory reset? If it will work, perhaps it can be intercepted?

Factory reset means hard reset, which is powering off the device and holding both volume buttons down whilst powering it back up - that can't be done through software if the OS is frozen. The only way to do that would be to press the reset button or remove/replace the battery.
There is literally 100% no way to power off or reset the device through software, if the OS if frozen.

Well, sometimes it's hard to tell if that's the entire OS is frozen, or just some software is too hungry for resources. I had an issue with the Core Player (TCPMP) freezing, which was blocking all the buttons and the screen taps together, but sometimes unfreeze them for a moment and go through the keypress events queue for a couple of steps. So the events were registered anyway. That happened only 3 times in 15 minutes, so I had to reset the device... The point is - a reset combination handled at the lowest OS level might be of a great help.

Can't launch/open Contacts

After installing and uninstalling Contact_changer_v1_3.cab, and MyPrefixdial (because I couldn't get them working ), "Contacts" can't launch.
When I pressed the sofkey, "Contacts" loaded just less then half a second then the screen returns to Today. Tapping "Contacts" on the screen behaved the same.
I tried lauching it from the Start > Programs > Contacts, but there was no response.
Soft-reset many times, but still no response.
However, I could view the contact detail from the Call History. But just can't get Contacts to start the listing.
Can anyone advise me to fix this problem?
many thanks!!
temporarily resolved...
After further overclocking to 240MHz (from 228) by using smartkey+Omapclock and after a soft reset, Contacts is back!!
I suspected that during the boot process, various processes (or program modules?) must be loaded into the memory WITHIN a specific time frame. Therefore, like in my case, I have installed some 27 programs now, and had had about 10 installed and later unistalled --- include a few registry tweaks (device), a few utilities (device), and everything else (TCMP, isilo.....etc on SD storage). Most programs load a certain process during boot time, therefore as one install more programs the device boot time takes longer.
Problem like mine that Contacts could not launch may due to that during boot time, a process belong to Contacts did not load properly. Thus, overclocking in this case temporily resolved the problem.
Indeed, I did get the same problem when I was fiddling with installing and uninstalling the Contact_changer_v1_3.cab, and MyPrefixdial last week. But after a few softreset, the Contacts was back so I did not bother investigating.
And one interesting note deserves a new thread to further discuss is that during boot time if the device turns off itself (due to Power Conserve settings), the device hangs indefintely.
So, long ago (maybe when I was onto installed programs 24)I have developed an habit to intermitantly tab the boot screen every 30sec to prevent the device to go into autooff mode during boot time.
All in all, the culprit is probably what happen during boot time. That one must ensure all required processes be loaded properly. But how can we ensure that? we can't rely on overclocking indefintely, can we?

A very good habit ecchi!!
Helpful and Practically true !!
One can also increase the Device off time to 3 mins to avoid tapping(though Not required practically as it shall consume more power)

hardware button problem; button 2

the internet explorer iconed button, on the top left hand corner; Button 2
is kinda playing up
It seems it is almost permanently pressed, though it doesn't seem stuck, when it is enabled the shortcut program or function continues to run; e.g. pie keeps starting (I've tried changing the shortcut and there's the same effect on any function I set to the button)
I've done a hard-reset, changed rom, but it persists, so its definitely a hardware fault. The main problem with it is, even if I minimize PIE for example, the hardware buttons remain unusable unless i unassign everything from that button.
I've tried cleaning where i can etc. but to no avail
its not a huge problem, heck it doesn't really matter if I need to keep that button without function, its just one of those little annoying and niggly problems, and maybe someone else has had the same and found a solution
if not its ok, and thank for reading

The above picture shows the two micro-switches (Silver blocks with round black protrusions). It would be well nigh impossible to dismantle these - replacement may be possible, though I suspect you would only be able to buy the board complete.
You say you have tried cleaning. Do you mean externally or internally. It may be possible that the micro switch is not releasing due to a detritus build up internally or some misalignment of the pasic facia switch cover. The micr-switches even when pressed via the facia plastic should give a discernable soft click when pressed.
Mike
firstly thank you very much, for all your effor, its well appreciated my friend.
I've tried cleaning externally only and yes it probably is a buildup of dirt internally, but I don't think I'll be dismantling the device as its only a small proble, and once I've removed the assigned function from that button its not problematic. But if it gets worse, starts again etc. I'll have to, so thanks very much.
Thank you.
No probs. Might just start working again by itself if the blockage gets dislodged.
Mike

dead center... I've searched searched for a solution but haven found it-can you help?

Ok my screen works, alignment is whack because the CENTER of screen doesnt work. I have seen a few people have had same problem but saw no results that worked. so open invitation to those that are skilled.
KJAM with WM6
Problem: the exact center of the screen does not work, its about exactly 1 centimeter to each extreme. on screen alignment it takes about 10 tries to finally exit alignment mode, *i dont know if its tired of trying to align it, that it just gives up* but screen center still does not work. everything else is fine but it doesnt work.
Tested the problem: to see the exact affected area i went into notes with draw mode. i made tons of horizontal and vertical lines through the inner part of the screen to see which was th area that didnt work. and it looks like this.

efforts to fix:
HKLM>drivers>touch panel>pressure threshold (couldnt find the folder)
Hard Reset
moved stylus around screen
soft reset
landscape & portrait mode
keyboard open & keyboard close
safe mode
synced & un synced
I think i have tried most of what i could guess and what i have read in related threads but no luck.
I haven't flashed the rom because i have a latest one and it was fine at first when i upgraded to WM6 until about a month later.
so i am in mexico right now and easy to say that wizard parts & wizards are hard to get here so i am thinking of getting a new screen all together from the US, so before i spend 40 dollars, i am asking for help to you guys.
I hope yall can help me. thanks.
your touch scren or digitalaizer is bad, you should remplace it.

Not so dead keyboard

I was at a party the other night and someone dripped water off the side of a beer can into my Hermes. It landed on the keyboard, I have inspected the board and cant see anything amiss (IE, it looks good)
but the keys behave erratically.
Heres a list of funky keys.
The left softkey presses the OK key.
The right softkey does the specified function twice so if its a menu it will appear then dissapear.
The "o" key types an "o" then presses the left arrow key(as in to go left a character)
The Windows key presses the right softkey with the same effect as the softkey.
The left arrow does the same as the "o" key.
The down arrow presses the "p" key and the down arrow so if its autocomplete
it will do it with a word beginning with "p".
The right arrow presses the return key.
Whats the best thing to do now?
I have checked all the connections and all seems OK
I dont really want to pull the white backing off the keydomes.
Anyone had any luck with keyboard repair?
Someome please show me the light as Im running out of things to think of
All the best and thanks in advance.
Mark
//Edit

Didnt have issues the first time but I have issues now,

Well i agree that peeling off the backing is a tricky business. You could trycleaning off the surface with pure slcohol or distilled water but the danger is that it may cause any contamination to seep in even further. You could try to identify any spots where penetration under the white layer has occurred and particularly any of the exposed contact areas (not covered by the white layer and clean those areas.
Otherwise it would be a case of removing the white layer:
Mike
Thanks for the prompt reply, just about to go shopping, will try this later and post the results
Thankyou Mike

[Q] Volume Button Position

I know it's unfixable, but anyone else find the position of the volume rocker buttons terrible? I constantly am pressing volume down with my right hand. Awful design flaw IMO.
I rate this phone high on everything so far except for the buttons. Holding in right hand on call is easier than left regarding accidental button presses as thumb bridges buttons. With left hand you have 2-3 moving fingers hovering.
For me is less about calls and more about EVERYTHING else... I'm hitting these damn buttons constantly! Could be a deal breaker which is super sad.
It's been a big annoyance for sure day one. Time will tell if I can adjust.
You'll adjust. I don't care for where they are. Personally I prefer the buttons higher and preferably on different sides. Especially with the power button being used significantly less now with the sensor.
I think the buttons being lower instead of 5.6" up the device is one of my favorite parts. Tough luck you don't dig it like I do.
I have learned (very quickly) that I can't hold the 6P like I did with my old phone. Since this is a big honkin' device, I've learned to hold it from the bottom, kind of like this...

instead of the middle, like you normally would.
/Maybe it's just me, but it works!
Good Tpu case could help. I have the adaptive google case and it makes it harder to press them accidentally...

I was hitting the power key for volume up. Odd layout indeed.
I thought it was a weird layout on the Motorola Nexus 6. You just start to get used to the layout and then it's not a big deal afterwards.
