Hello friends,
I just messed up my DVP while updateing dell's update.
I was updating Mango 7220 as soon as i updated it n connected to zune it prompted for dell's update.
I went through with the update and got at the last of the 9 steps i.e. restarting the device. after waiting for good 30 odd minutes(as there was no activity) I removed the phone from the USB n tried to start the phone but it didn't. no flash of light no dell logo nothing. I've removed the phone at the same step during my mango beta update and it worked without issues that time.
anybody who has any input to get me out of this situation pls post here.
really need help here ppl.

are you sure? Make sure the battery is out, then hold the camera and volume down buttons, put battery in then boot while holding buttons, very least you should see a black screen that says "Dell"
Are you holding Power as well? That combo should bring you to the download screen where you can try to load your last backup.
well, i tried pressing vol - key and camera buttons witjout the battry and tried to boot thr phone after inserting the battry with buttons still pressed.
and also tried pressing three buttons with battery in.
nothing happened but i could see a light flashing theough the small slit(gap)between the screen parr n keyboard part.
it flashes on n off till i jold the power button. no reactoon when other two buttons r pressed.
What was your battery level like when updating, could you be out of power? Tried plugging into the charger for a while?

i can feel the charge when i touch the battery connectors with my tongue.
anyways i've put the phone on charging.
its been 10mins so far n nothing on screen.
I suggest you should try to update on another computer or laptop, cuz I used to bricked my dvp once when i was updating to mango beta on my own laptop but it went smoothly on my friend's one.
When my dvp bricked, I almost lost all the hope to bring it back. I left it like that for few days then tried to restore it again and surprisingly I got my dvp back. I think I'm lucky that time but if there is nothing you can do, it may worth a try
btw, what's your firmware version before update. Is it x.1500.7004.105? cuz i update to the new firmware 212 and i see it only fix the memory.

i've left my dvp aside so that the battery drains out completly.will try to charge it after few days n then quo try to restore it.
i successfully updated the phone to mango n then tried to install the official dell update. i think they r not compatible with each other.
anyways, keeping my fingered crossed. let's hope battery drain works.:|

hi
my omina 7 of 1 month is broken.
A few weeks ago it wouldnt boot and gave the screen indicating
the phone needs to be plugged into the pc, it then booted ok.
Yesterday it gave the same message but by the time i got it home
the message was gone.
Now it will not boot, it simply cycles through the samsung logo, the three network logo , then back to the samsung logo.
Will be taking it back to the three shop tonight.
is there a way of hard resetting the phone using the buttons?
I have only found info on hard reset from within the OS, which obviously i now cannot get to.
has anyone else had this problem
The only similar problem i found was with a focus
was on the windowsphonesecrets website under the heading restoration error
to hard reset the focus press the power, volume & camera buttons all together. that might do it.
Have you tried taking the battery out of the phone? Heard from someone that that solved the problem...
yes tried taking the battery out
tried it without the sim
let the battery completely drain and tried again
the hard reset button combination didnt work either
just constantly cycling between the samsung and three network logos
three have now sent it off for repair ....
I have a very similar problem. My phone randomly rebooted itself but now it sticks on the Samsung Omnia 7 logo. I've tried removing the battery but nothing.
Is there a Safe Mode I can boot into?
Damn looks like I have the same problem. Was playing a game.Phone rebooted on its own, all I get is the Samsung Omnia 7 screen.
Tried a Hard Reset. I get the options pop up for about 2 seconds asking if I want to format. If I am quick enough to press the Home button nothing happens it just switches off.
Did you try to flash the ROM ?
Me?
No?
Download mode was the only mode that seemed to be recognised by my PC.If it wasn't in warranty I would maybe have tried that, but as it is in warranty I will let T-Mobile deal with it.
my repaired samsung was returned mid january
a few weeks later and the same thing has happened again...
phone froze, switched it off , now will not boot again
it is definitely the same hand set or at least the same outer casing
the bill said it had some parts replaced
I wonder what caused this issue?
I had similar problem and this is how I solved it:
Make sure your Device is switched off (remove and reinsert the battery)
1. Press and hold the Camera, Volume Down, and Power buttons simultaneously.
2. Release Power when the phone vibrates, but continue to hold down Camera and Volume Down.
3. Release Camera and Volume Down when the Format prompt is displayed on screen.
4. Press Windows key twice to confirm the hard reset.
Enjoy your phone now
add 1 to the list, mine is doing thin, formatting doesnt help, reflashing doesnt help.
unless i can find a fix, im without a phone for 15 days while tmob plays with it
any progress?
Since applying the update that Samsung release yesterday I'm having the same problem...
Format didn't work, installing 'older' firmwares (I8700BSEJK1, I8700XENJK1 and I8700DBTJK1) didn't solve any issue
Anybody with more ideas?
I've also had this issue... I think it was caused by forcing the nodo update. Now I've updated it normally using this guide
http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_...spx?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
I hope now the problem is solved.
Greeting
I ask someone for help. My Samsung E900 has worked perfectly until yesterday ... After changing the Regional Settings sought to be restarted to accept new settings. After that phone at the time of ignition appears LG logo and the fit is a few seconds the screen clears and the LG logo appears again, and so constantly ..
Any ideas?
Thanks

Pulling the battery for 10-30 secs and then boot seems to be the universal problem solver for WP7 phones.

Then return it as faulty as it should load unless borked somehow.

Yes i Will return it on monday unless someone knows a way to restore it.
It's possible to start it in 3 modes.
1. Hold down the volume buttons + camera + power button. It then sais cold boot and then nothing more.
2. Vol down + camera + power. Then it sais emergency download, and my computer finds it
3. Camera + power. Shows a phone, cord and computer.
I tried the lg phone support tool and it sais the phone already are up to date.
Isn't there a way to load the windows phone 7 software onto the phone somehow?
Would really like to do it so I won't have to return it. I bought it of eBay, it is a customer return, so guess the guy before me tried messing with it to update it. And the company that sold it to me did not check if it was functioning before selling it to me..

You could of course flash the phone with new firmware and see if it fixes the problem, sounds like someone managed to mess up with your set.
There are some information around here how to flash the phone if you feel up for it.

Ok but do u think The firmware is The problem? The LG tool showed that it was up to date, isn't it just the windows phone 7 software that is missing? I am not sure, but wouldn't the phone not show the lg logo if the firmware was bad?
A reward of € 10 will be given to the person helping me with this, and makes it work as supposed to.

You could probably try a different version of the OS depending on what you have now (I bet you wrote what version you had, I just missed it).
There are a few threads about that under the WP7 hack and dev. And as far as the firmware goes it's hard to know if it's actually ok just because it loads to the logo, I don't know where in the boot sequence the logo appears etc. there could be problems with the firmware too.
My first step would be to see if it's possible to get a new version of the OS in and if not, I'd try some new firmware.
And if nothing works return it as faulty.

I dont know what version there is on my phone, it received it like this, the only thing I see when trying to start it is "LG" and it shows right away.
I tried everything I stumbled upon when it comes to trying to put windows phone software in the phone, but Nothing works... I will send it back tomorrow monday if I cant find a solution to this.
I got the same problem before.
I just turn it off, and leave it for a night
Next day, all the things are ok
yeeaah well, nothing helped, whatever I did to it...
I received no less than 3 broken phones and now finaly I have a working one yaaaayyy
Congrats,
I just sent my phone to LG for the same problem....
My phone can boot up in very low rate...
Lg optimus e900 start issue
Hi,
I have the same issue, I can't restart my phone.
I can see only the logo and the LG caption.
Pls help,
Laszlo
I've got almost the same problem
I just bought this phone via local site, several days ago i'm so much happy with its smoothness but 2 days ago this problem appear, i spent several hours just to find it hanging on LG logo, i've waited for hour to hour just to see nothing happened that time. I left it for bed, and the next day the phone back to normal. But then, at least the device hanging 3 times a day, its just restarting itself and it seems the phone is unable to boot itself to the homescreen. Need help! I've done many way, from restoring, cold boot, softreset, upgrade(when it comes normal) etc but all don't work till now.
Unfortunately, this product doesn't release officially in my country, so i guess i won't be able to get replacement unit. I became so desperate cause i often use it, i need to get this phone back to normal, soon! Thankyou and sorry for my bad english
i am having a problem with the update procedure on my trophy
its on the 7392 update and at the last step 9/10 where it says rebooting your phone it has stuck there for over a half an hour.
The phone shows the htc logo (white background)
What should i do? Should i cancel the update?
thx
after one hour waiting on the rebooting point i decided to press cancel on the update
Now the phone doesnt start
What can i do ?
I have to contact htc or is a way to recover it?
Take the battery out, put it back in, then hold the volume down and power buttons. See if the recovery screen shows up (Blue, Red, Green stripes).
If so, find a RUU restore file for your network on the development subforum. Ask for help here if you're stuck.
the problem is that the phone doesnt start. Its dead. Maybe it wass a hardware prob because from the beggining when i got it the scrolling wasnt as smooth as the other trophys i have.
Is there a prog like phoenix on nokia for htc?
It sounds to me the same problem I had, I did an update but saw the phone restart and frozen on the HTC logo for over 30 minutes. I had no choice but to power the phone off.
I've tried various ways to turn the phone on (factory hardware reset), holding the camera lens and power button etc. Nothing. Is it dead? What can we do? Did you manage to power on your device Djole77?
That sounds pretty bad for you guys. If you can't get the phone into recovery mode, even after removing the battery, they may be dead.
I is possible to JTAG the HTC trophy with some soldering, which would let you recover the phone in most circumstances. However it requires voiding your warranty, opening the phone and soldering. Best leave it.
The first thing to do is take it to your carrier for warranty repairs. The mango update voids your warranty (because the carriers don't / can't support Mango yet) but if the whole phone is bricked then it shouldn't make a difference. Take it to them and don't mention the mango upgrade.
If that doesn't work, try HTC.
If that doesnt' work, and you're on Microsoft's developer network, they offer a substitutionary warranty for developers installing mango.

From the beginning something was wrong with this phone the scrolling wasn't smooth like the other trophys I have
maybe there was a hardware problem and the update finished it

My wife ran the update on her phone. All seemed well until this morning after having shut the phone down and restarting. Now her power button no longer works after the phone is booted. I know it's not a hardware thing because the button will turn the phone on after pulling the battery.
Anyone else see this behaviour? Also any idea how to fix? I was thinking about just reflashing the update or perhaps back revving to the previous release.
Any Suggestions?
-Rich
Try taking out the battery and then holding the power button for 20 seconds
Tried - no success. I did notice though that the behaviour is different that I originally though. At first I thought I had to press the power button to turn it on after removing the battery but that is not the case. The phone is turning itself on once the battery is inserted. Further if I go into the bootloader I can't move the cursor up or down nor does the power button work in there.
I was originally thinking this may not be hardware but now I'm not so sure.

Anyone who has this update working, can you comment on whether bluetooth stack has been updated/fixed?
I heard the evo 3d has a new bluetooth stack that works great.

Thanks
Thanks for being so quick to get this out. I just spent last 2 days fixing my Acer Tab, a BIG thanks to sc2k again. I have never been so glad I jumped from Palm OS to Android.
While I'm here, can i flash my wife's EVO to this skipping the update before this one? Thanks in advance for any help with this.
My samsung Focus is about 1.5 years old.. I plan to switch carriers at the end my of contract since AT&T is giving me lots of dropped call at the new place we moved to.. The phone is obviously out of warranty, so I am looking to see if I can fix it myself.
The power button on my Samsung focus is behaving very funny lately. When I hit the power button with the phone awake, it thinks I did a "long press" of the power button and shows me the shutdown pull-down image! If I pull-up the image, the phone still reboots...
If I press the power button when the phone screen is OFF, instead of turning on the phone, it again shows the pull-down image, and the same behavior ensues - regardless of what direction I pull the image in, it shuts down the phone.
Some things I have already tried:
I have tried a hard-reset (camera+volume+power, and format the device), but the behavior continues.
I have removed my SD Card (I am using the AT&T approved one), performed hard reset, and problem continues
I have tried a different battery (from my wife's focus), and problem continues
At this point, I am guessing that most likely, the power button connector is loose.. but I am not 100% sure.. Any suggestions on things to try?
Seems like the spring in the power button is gone. I suggest when you want to press it, lean the phone to the right (with the power button towards the ground) so when you press it, gravity helps popping it back.
Or replace the power button.

Thanks EnderPsp!
I have ordered a new battery for now to see if it helps.. its a non-OEM battery off eBay.. Don't want to spend too much without knowing if that is indeed the problem..
I can't find a power button replacement part anywhere... I went over the video and the instructions to reach the power button housing does not seem very bad.. definitely do-able if I can find a replacement part..

The button itself is plastic (you can find some on ebay), and I don't know how it works, actually (If it's a spring or otherwise).
I suggest you watch a take apart guide and maybe, just maybe it's just dirt, which you can clean.
You'll know more and afterwards please share the result with us.

And now its completely gone... the power button won't respond at all.. the phone has been shut all day. If I take the battery out and put it back in, the SAMSUNG logo shows up for a few seconds and then the phone turns off again.. No way to turn it back ON using the power key..
I sat down to open the circuit yesterday only to realize that I don't have a #000 screwdriver... the smallest one I have is #00 which is too big for the 7 screws that hold the back panel
Off to Grainger today to see if I can find a 000 driver.. It can't get any worse now, so might as well open the phone!
Sure thing - I will update the post later with what I find...

You didn't say if the same happens with the wall charger connected.
Now, If you're going out, try and drop near a phone shop. Ask them if they can help you test with one of their batteries, either for a Focus i917 or from a Galaxy S i9000
Good luck mate.
Dang i thought i was the only one with this issue...
Mine started acting up about 3 weeks ago and it was seriously annoying especially when driving. I would press the lock button to change songs, but it thinks i did a long-press and does the "slide down to power off" thing. Even if i swipe up, the phone would switch off.
Then today, i take my phone out my pocket to send a text and find it's powered off. Won't even switch on now
Ender:
Plugging the phone in does NOTHING. The screen remains black.
Reinserting the battery causes the SAMSUNG logo to appear on-screen but again, goes black after 4-5 seconds.
Holding down the power/lock button has no effect, it's unresponsive.
I'm so pissed off this is happening 6 months before my contract is up. -_-
Don't know what else to say... I hope you still have warranty?

Not extended no... :/
I've managed to get it into "download mode" now though, and my laptop recognises it as "SAMSUNG CDMA Technologies"... Huh?
---------- Post added at 05:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 PM ----------
If i have it plugged into my laptop,
hold vol down, power, and camera while inserting the battery i get to the hard reset screen. But then that disappears in the same 4-5 second window.
Ok, it's working again... I left the battery out for a few hours (literaly about 3), then pressed hard on the power button, and placed it (the battery) back in the phone.
Let it turn on and then back off by itself, then pressed hard on the power button.
pressed the button normally, and it booted up no issues. So far works fine.
I expect this issue is partly the power button, and something else unknown

Yes' same thing with wall power. New battery arrived and did not help. Went to a local cellphone repair and the guy said main board needs replacement.. he suggested to buy another phone since repair will be more expensive.. he said that he needs to remove soldering on the board reinforce an auxillary power button battery and resolder it in.. no guarantees and will cost atleast $150

Lucky you!! This seems like a common problem with several Samsung phones based on a quick google search
Also bummed that this happened with 6 months remaining ...Now I am somewhat stuck since I want to switch from AT&T due to call issues with several months remaining.. and dont want to buy one till wp8 is out...
Just for fun... I am going to find a 000 screwdriver and try to re-jig the power button.. nothing to loose with the phone refusing to start anyway!
For what it's worth, my power button had been getting increasingly creaky over the course of the last few months, and although not sticking, was requiring ever more pressure to operate. Also, the sound of rusty bedsprings every time I went to use my phone was getting somewhat embarrassing.
I found the sturdiest piece of paper that I could wedge in between the button and the rest of the phone, put a bit of PB Blaster on the paper, and wedged the paper in. The button has since been as good as the day I took the phone out of the box for a couple of months now.
*Edit: Should probably mention that the paper isn't supposed to stay in there - it was just used to apply the lube without soaking the phone.

So its working completely fine now? No issues? I'll try that but im not hopeful.
I've been having the same issue, started yesterday. There appears to be no issues with the actual button itself, it doesnt appear to get stuck or anything to cause this, even without the external shell and just compressing the sensor itself.
walletless, you said that you tried reformatting it and everything? Damn. I was expecting it to be a software issue. I'll mess with the button mechanism a bit and see if theres anything weird with it
Phone is dead
re-jigging and cleaning around power button did not help.. I ended up ordering a chinese knock-off of HTC Note instead
Does any have this problem, but on a normal stock rom?
I was thinking it might be just custom roms, I don't think that would have anything to do with it
Its worth a shot though

My phone died last month. I only installed updates that came through Zune up to 7.5. I went into AT&T and they told me too bad because it was out of warranty. I called Samsung, and they wanted me to 'volume down, camera, power' reset my phone, which didn't work. Samsung told me to send it to them for $70 because I was out of warranty.
Instead I entered a developer competition for a Lumia 800 and won. Now I just have a dead focus, and a new 800. I'd still be interested if anyone finds out a way to fix the focus problem.
