Galaxy S2 2.3.4 firmware - Galaxy S II General

What is the easiest way to install 2.3.4 version or newer to my Galaxy S2 4G current is 2.3.3. I will be using it in Canada.. Thanks

Official way: Check if KIES is offering you a firmware
Unofficial way: You can download the firmware from the Dev section Stock or Custom and then flash it using Odin
Stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Also explains how to flash. Please read how to flash and DO SELECT only what is given. Selecing PIT in ODIN leads to BRICK and unusable

Thanks for the info!!! If I do update it will put everything to normal right and it will unroot the phone?

Don't understand the 'put everything to normal' part but after flashing any ROM you will lose root. Need to re root.
Regards.

Thats fine no too worry about root normal i meant everything will go back to stock or factory state condition. That triangle will go away too right after flashing the rom? thanks for your quick response

If you use one of the stock roms there is no yellow triangle. You wont see carrier animation on boot, but that is a good thing in my opinion. It's as if you bought an unlocked phone not tied to a network.

I wonder if this court injunction by apple will slow the rollout of v2.3.4 to the rest of Europe, I hope not i am sick of waiting as it is.

So just odin right? Not sure which stock rom I can use with it been searching around here and seen so many of them.

need stock rom for warrant

hey guys, vibration on my phone no longer works, need to go back for warranty.
I wonder where can I get the stock rom, Virgin Australia.
Thanks
Use checkfus downloader.

what's that?
What's the difference between that and Odin?
It's a program for finding the proper stock firmware for your phone and carrier. You download from there and then use Odin to flash I believe. I have found downloaded my firmware from it but I haven't needed to flash it as of yet. So haven't looked closely at files.

Official 4.1.2 Build

Hi
I have been using Nightly 4.2.2 for a while now but seeing as 4.3 official is on its way I would like to flash back to 4.1.2 so I can OTA it.
This is going to work right?
Anyway I have been trying to find a GBR in this link, although when I bought TAB it would factory reset to Germany and I would simply change the language on setup....
Is there a GBR or do I need to go with a GER one, cant see either in this link
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N8000&details=Galaxy_Note_10_1__3G_plus_WiFi
Appreciate your help
Thanks
Lee
You can flash a stock firmware and receive OTA updates normally.
To download the corrent firmware check this out - http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/

This was originally a Germany version although why should that matter it's still the same device?

Make sure the model is the same.
No matter the firmware, if the model is the same the firmware should work.
Try to reflash again.

4.4.2 Firmware

Hey guys.
Had some great advice in some of my other questions and I thank everyone who posted. Everything always helps.
Just before I do this, as I've been informed that you can't go back to 4.3 after updating bootloader to 4.4.2.
Which would be the latest 4.4.2 firmware I should flash for N9005 in Australia? I then want to flash custom roms like Xnote etc. Knox will be triggered after I flash a custom recovery am I right?
Thanks guys. As far as I can see NC3 is the latest.

Thing is what if I was to flash the Netherlands firmware, will I still be able to use it stock if I wish in Australia? I'll probably go straight to custom rom but just seeing. I'm worried if I flash a certain countries firmware I'll brick my device...

no u won't brick, as long as u choose the correct firmware for your device.
and do a proper step by ODIN PC.
btw, u open 2 similar threads ?
Yeah I know, just trying to get more info. As a thread gets seen once, it's forgotten about pretty quickly and not many people get to see it, or have the opportunity to comment. especially in the q&a section.

Another thing I wanted to check was if I flashed ND3...can use like NB7 or NB3 or any earlier 4.4.2 rom?? Custom obviously? Heard some scary things if you go back...maybe that's to a non-knox firmware...
Thanks!!

You can flash other (earlier) 4.4.2 roms but you can`t downgrade to a 4.3 rom afaik
Oh cool. That's fine then. All these have open MSCs right? So I could technically use it stock? There will be an English option? I mean if it's all on there I don't know why Samsung doesn't release it at a faster rate, ir more at once... If indeed it works fine. I'll probably change straight away to a custom rom but still, it'd be nice to see what vanilla kit kit is like.

The methods you mentioned above seem fine, but isnt restoring my nand backup(backed up on a stock rom) and flashing a stock rec, then unrooting is the simplest way?

are you sure that is the best method for the international model?
i have the 16GB model, and the download provided in the TOT section of the guide is for the french one.
should i wait for the 16gb kdz file from my country(israel)or flash the french one(i need hebrew stock)?

I might try it in a few days when the official 4.4.2 update gets released here.
Just so i would know, will restoring my backup(it is stock 4.2.2, i'm currently on cm11 4.4.2), flashing a stock rec and unrooting work?and if it will, will it bring back OTA?

I honestly don't know, I don't even know if there's a file you can flash that restores it to stock recovery. Using the TOT or Method 2 is essentially a file that restores it to stock ROM and stock recovery, so that's the only way I would know. But I supposed you're more than welcome to try it and see if that works.

There is this website named storagecow
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G2/Stock/
And it has many firmwares available for download. As long as i download it in kitkat version, is it ok that i download the open europe version?
edit:in the open europe D802, the file's name doesn't state if it is 16 or 32GB, or even kitkat.
is it safe to use it with method 2?

Just make sure you're using the correct kdz for your device, do not flash another device's kdz file. So only download the version that's your phone.
