Ok, I recently fell on my HTC Trophy(Verizon Version), cracking my screen. Before that happened I had a weird LCD problem that came out of nowhere. I replaced both the touch digitizer and LCD screen successfully and turned it on. It worked perfectly. No screen defects ect. Then I later turned it on and the same problem happened! Here are some pics to show you. Do I need A new LCD (oh god) or can I fix it? any answers will be much appreciated. Also, the auto thread search thing is wonderful, great idea!
EDIT:I can't see the spots when the LCD is off.
When I was doing a laptop LCD replacement screen, I had accidentally left a bubble and was so annoyed that it would not display where the bubbles were.
However after 2 weeks the bubbles just disappeared and the laptop's LCD screen was working correctly.
You might want to wait a little longer and see if the heat will evaporate it?
(Good luck)

Hi folks. I have damaged my topaz but I'm not sure if it's the digitiser or the lcd screen, so I'll describe what happens:
The touch screen will stop responding after I've been using it and if I turn off the screen I can see a small dark patch (where my finger last touched it) with some small tiny 'bumps' surrounding this dark area. If I gently rub the screen with a soft cloth or similar, this dark area disappears and the touch screen starts responding again. However, I am having to do this procedure a lot - I mean like every 10 or 20 seconds if I'm touching the screen a lot or dragging stuff around - heck, it's a 'touch' phone, I can't help but touch it !!!
A new screen is a lot more than a new digitiser, and I figured that since the digitiser sits on top (right ) then it may be this that is u/s ?
Any help, comments or diagnostic clues are much appreciated.
Cheers, peace
Chris
umm, can it be water between the screen and touch sensor layer? Have you brought the phone to highly humid places, or something like that?
Some photos will definitely help identifying the problem.
Sounds like this:

I had it, and my provider repaired it. Unfortunaly I have the problems again... but not that much. When its getting too extreme, I'll send it back once again
^ I'd say that's it, I did find another post with a photo of something similar too.
I think mine happened when my wee girl got a hold of the phone -
I'm still a little unsure as to what component is damaged tho. Maybe a little 'investigation' with a screwdriver is needed ...
Thanks for the replies so far
Peace
Using a screewdriver will defenetly kill your guarantee. Mine was repaired for 0€$ ... I would try this first, as you can still offer it back when they say u have to pay few 100€$.
Howdy folks... i will try to get a picture up tomorrow...
Basically a few days ago i picked up my phone and noticed a marble type effect on my screen, very similar to when you put inks into water etc.
At first i thought the lcd screen had leaked etc but my (actual) screen looks normal, no missing pixels or screen errors
It happened again few days later and then this morning my gf removed it from her pocket the whole touch area was like it... and still is now... 10 hours later...
Could water or moisture build up between the touch part and then screen???
During the time it happens the touch area doens't function at all!!
Any ideas or thoughts at all??
Thank you all very much in advance!!
dont know, but this happeded on my touch ELF and is happning on my touch 3g now, not happy might try a few crazy things before replacing the digitiser il let you know if anything works.
Heres a pic attached...
Cant really see it but maybe help to see the issue?
Can kinda see the outline of where the marble effect starts... and you can see the purple and lights green/blue effect its left..
I wouldn't mind but the touch screen doesn't work kinda making the phone useless!
tried a few things, like freezing than heating, worked for a while, calibration kept falling out. put it away and went back to my elf. tried it yesterday and it hardly responds to touch at all, responds randomly when you press it haaaaaaarrrddd.
might be time to get new parts
Looks like the touch screen sensors are out of sort. My experience with my previous model (HTC Kaiser) similar thing happened. Changing the screen solved everything, works like new.
I had problems with the touch screen on my touch 3g and tryed everything (hard restarts, screen aligns, millions of times) until i changed the digitiser in htc service and everything works fine now, like new as azahidi said. Good luck.
Hi all,
Recently had my HD2 fixed due to a horrendously cracked screen...
However I'm now having some issues with my touch screen
Basically it was all perfectly fine until about a week ago, then I couldnt use the touch unless I pushed in the bottom right hand corner and now it wont work at all...
Anyone got any ideas on what I could do? The guy who fixed it believes that its a dodgy part but I don't really believe him...

sounds like the ribbon cable from the screen to the mainboard has been either bent/creased/split/not re mounted correctly.
I'd be getting a second opinion and billing the guy who fixed it.
thank you,
I took it back today, complained about a couple of things, like the screen/glass not being plush in the device (if you can imagine that the buttons at the bottom were not raised that's about the height I mean) and there being dirt between the LCD and the glass.
Also brought along the old LCD to draw some comparisons and I think your suggestion was correct:
On the old LCD the cable is glued to the back of the LCD screen and the screen was fitted as expected...
On the device now the screen is raised and the cable is loose, can only assume that its not connecting with something on the MB?

yea sounds like its been badly put back together. make a fuss would be my suggestion. not sure what else to suggest.
Who did you take it 2? I need to get 2 HTC HD2s fixed
Hi guys, i followed all the indictaions on the official videos but i think i broke something! I had an HTC hd2 with a broken digitilizer but the screen worked fine. I bought a screen+digitilzer combo and replaced it but it didnt work.
The screen does not show anything (black screen) but the backlight of it is on!
I tought maybe was a problem of that lcd so i tested the original screen (that was working) and it does the same.
What could be the problem??
Please i need help
come onn, anyone ?
please guys, anyone ??
Sounds like a defective lcd to me. I'd try an RMA asap on getting another unit before your DOA warranty (if the lcd has one) runs out.
it's not the LCD. I had a working LCD but a defective digitizer, i bought the lcd+digitizer replacement and now both screens do the same , just the backlight is on. And before i change the screens the original lcd was working fine.
Could it be because the LCD is not correctly pasted into the chassis ? i really don't know what could it be the problem. The lcd is correctly connected to the mainboard. What could i broke in the process?
Thanks connexion2005 for the help anyways, is nice to see someone finally answered hehe!

If you were not really gental with the internal parts of the phone, more presisly the ribbons that connect each part to the main board you could have cause micro cracks in the copper strips of the ribbons. Look at the closely with a magnifying. glass if possible.
today i was able to sync it literally with no idea of what i was touching. I also figured that the digitizer works , i was able it dial some numbers. The phone appears to work.
So, Backlight is on, Touch (digitizer) also works, but not showing anything on the LCD.
Could it be a mainboard problem ?? I'm trying to use logic because i don't know anything about cellphones and how do they work in terms of components.
Could it be the ribbon ? I dont think so, i have two screens and both of them do the same (backlight on but not showing anything).
I'm clueless!
Don`t panic. Calm down, watch a demolution tuturial. You probably miss smt. Good luck
But it could be a ribbon...
Hi,
I had a small accident today with my HD2 . It felt from my pocket to the hard floor. It was in the leater pouch, but it hit right on the corner, where is no coverage.
I picked the phone up and was happy at first (no display cracks), but not for long. When I tried to turn it of, grey screed showed.
The device seems to be working, I can turn it on/off with the HW button...but I cant see anything.
As I said, there are no cracks of the glass layer so the digitizer should be ok. I just don't know actually.
Can anybody help me?

unfortunately you cant make that assumption, i have a hd2 with a badly shattered glass, (same as you, dropped from about 3 feet landed on the corner, shattered all the way to the other end of the phone) yet the digitizer and LCD worked perfectly for at least 18 months before finally the digitizer died, LCD still works fine.
My point being that just cos one part of the three (glass, digitizer, LCD) seems ok tells you nothing about the other two parts.
My guess is either the screen itself died, the connection on the mainboard broke/became unseated, or even that its unrelated to the screen at all and is in fact something else that broke and shows itself as a non responsive screen.
Im not sure if this is possible given that you have no screen to work with, and i guess something would need to be installed on the phone to make it work, but how about some software that shows your screen on the PC? you may even be able to tell if touching it is working.
