Hi,
I had a small accident today with my HD2 . It felt from my pocket to the hard floor. It was in the leater pouch, but it hit right on the corner, where is no coverage.
I picked the phone up and was happy at first (no display cracks), but not for long. When I tried to turn it of, grey screed showed.
The device seems to be working, I can turn it on/off with the HW button...but I cant see anything.
As I said, there are no cracks of the glass layer so the digitizer should be ok. I just don't know actually.
Can anybody help me?

unfortunately you cant make that assumption, i have a hd2 with a badly shattered glass, (same as you, dropped from about 3 feet landed on the corner, shattered all the way to the other end of the phone) yet the digitizer and LCD worked perfectly for at least 18 months before finally the digitizer died, LCD still works fine.
My point being that just cos one part of the three (glass, digitizer, LCD) seems ok tells you nothing about the other two parts.
My guess is either the screen itself died, the connection on the mainboard broke/became unseated, or even that its unrelated to the screen at all and is in fact something else that broke and shows itself as a non responsive screen.
Im not sure if this is possible given that you have no screen to work with, and i guess something would need to be installed on the phone to make it work, but how about some software that shows your screen on the PC? you may even be able to tell if touching it is working.

Long story short- I have a pile of g1's... loads of spare parts (most of which seem to work) - these parts are from phones that were water damaged, they started but got stuck on the "!" with the triangle.
Now these screens work great- clear and bright but the main boards seem to be fried.
I found a phone on craigslist that was booting fully but the screen was cracked (digitizer aswell)
The digitizer was working, but it has a huge crack in it... and so did the LCD
I replaced the digitizer and the LCD with some parts from one of the water damaged phones- the LCD works great, phone boots and loads android (at a startup I did a factory reset) BUT the digitizer is not working.
I tried the other digitizer from the other water damage phone and that did the same thing... the LCD works great, the touch does not.
Its strange that the cracked (almost fully in half) digitizer works but the ones that look fine do not- could water damaged have ruined the digitizer? (i suppose that is a dumb question BUT I have probably 20+ parts here, wifi modules, antenas, main boards all of which have been submersed at some point that still work flawlessly...)
Is there something I am missing- a plug or something hidden that is commonly missed perhaps? its strange because I put together a different g1 (and took apart) probably 10+ times now... i know every screw and wire... where it goes, what clips where like the back of my hand (so i think)... that phone works fine.
just lost my job, figured 25 bucks for a g1 that boots (but needs a screen) was a good plan if i could sell it for 150 :/
Hi all,
Recently had my HD2 fixed due to a horrendously cracked screen...
However I'm now having some issues with my touch screen
Basically it was all perfectly fine until about a week ago, then I couldnt use the touch unless I pushed in the bottom right hand corner and now it wont work at all...
Anyone got any ideas on what I could do? The guy who fixed it believes that its a dodgy part but I don't really believe him...

sounds like the ribbon cable from the screen to the mainboard has been either bent/creased/split/not re mounted correctly.
I'd be getting a second opinion and billing the guy who fixed it.
thank you,
I took it back today, complained about a couple of things, like the screen/glass not being plush in the device (if you can imagine that the buttons at the bottom were not raised that's about the height I mean) and there being dirt between the LCD and the glass.
Also brought along the old LCD to draw some comparisons and I think your suggestion was correct:
On the old LCD the cable is glued to the back of the LCD screen and the screen was fitted as expected...
On the device now the screen is raised and the cable is loose, can only assume that its not connecting with something on the MB?

yea sounds like its been badly put back together. make a fuss would be my suggestion. not sure what else to suggest.
Who did you take it 2? I need to get 2 HTC HD2s fixed
Hello,
first the story for explanation - I dropped my defy, gorilla glass cracked, I replaced it, everything worked fine for half a year. Then all of a sudden a part of screen stopped reacting on touch (shown in attachment by the red rectangle on second picture). Well it kind of react on touch, but about a half inch bellow. I thought the problem might have been in the LCD screen (it was dirty from glue as I was gluing the digitizer), but it didnt help. In about 2 weeks another part of screen stopped reacting (shown on first picture) and in next month another two rectangles of screen stopped reacting (half of screen is bad so far) .
My question here is, where's the problem. For me it seems quite strange that all of a sudden a digitizer went wrong. Could it be something else? Anyway I still have to change the digitizer but I'd like to avoid replacing only the glass (it easily gets messy and might not be water and dust proof), so could you tell me if buying stg like this ebay.com/itm/FREE-SHIP-for-Motorola-MB525-Defy-OEM-Black-LCD-Digitizer-w-Frame-Tool-ZVLT316-/380400093766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58919cca46 is enough? I dont see there some components that my frame has, like adhesion seal, speaker or some metal(?) components (compare with third attached picture).
Thanks for all hints and answers!
just to let you know - I bought digitizer with frame and everything work now just fine (I recommend buying digitizer with frame, I think that not 100% dust and waterproofness caused my problem at first place)
Hey guys so earlier this year I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. I ordered an lcd + digitizer from ebay and installed it myself. Everything had been working fine for a couple weeks but then randomly one day I woke up and the bottom 1/4th of the screen didnt work. Also, my screen is not very secure onto the device. I can peel off the lcd if I desired. I put double sided tape on all the places that a guide showed me but the screen just doesn't seem to stay in which causes dust and other particles to get in between my screen. Could this be the problem?
Some things i forgot
This started off with only a small portion of the bottom part of my screen to stop working. But then it turned into my whole bottom 1/4th of the screen not working. However, the first time this happened, I fiddle with the screen since it comes off and just moved it around and the bottom 1/4th worked again. However the problem reoccurred and I can't seem to fix it this time.
Thanks for any help!
Edit: Forgot to mention that I tried to open the phone again and press down on the digitizer pins to make sure they were secure. Still didnt work
sorry for posing this as it offers no solution
but just to say i have the same situation on a nexus 5.. came compete with frame.. worked for a week then bottom 1/2 inch stopped working
My upper 1/4th of the screen stopped working... Seems to be like a fairly common issue with the LG G2 and some cases appeared all of a sudden without drops or water, some other with a bit of liquid or slight drop to the floor.
In my case I think it was due to excessive moisture when I used the phone while sweating profusely.
A screen replacement is at hand right after I get my smartwatch
Hello all, I want to first thank you guys for your support since I've joined up! I recently attempted a glass replacement on a note 3. The digitizer and lcd were ok before I removed the glass. During the removal, everything went smoothly, no cracked lcd or digitizer. It was my first attempt, so I did scratch it here an there, but they weren't too deep. They were negligible enough that they would be made invisible by the new uv-glue. So, before I fully removed all of the old glue, I turned the phone on to see if the lcd still worked and it did, however, I noticed that the touch screen was mostly unresponsive. It only worked at the top where the notifications menu is. I was able to pull it down about a quarter inch and then it would go back up as if my finger left the screen. I chocked it up to a dirty screen and possibly even the scratches I made on it. I read that those things would "confuse" the digitizer. I also read that cleaning the lcd and replacing the new glass with uv-glue would fix any digitizer touch issues, by filling in the scratches for one and by making contact with my finger more accurate. Anyway, I installed the new glass onto the lcd with the loca glue. Everything was clean as far as I could tell. After reassembling the phone I discovered that the digitizer was doing the same thing as it was when it had no glass. And now, when I turn the screen on from it being asleep, I see a blur where the unlock symbol is for a couple seconds, as if my finger was there above it. Then it goes away and the screen doesn't recognize my touch. I checked to see if my other note 3 did that when I turned the screen on and it didn't, at least not until I did put my finger there. I did a factory reset on the phone, disassembled it again and cleaned all the connections with alcohol. Everything looks like it's set up correctly. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas that aren't "the digitizer is broken" lol. I realize that may be the case, but I'm not sure what I could've done for that to happen. This will be my last attempt at finding a different answer before I trash the lcd. Thanks in advance guys!

I presume you've been checking the sites for help & youtube videos on how to do it all? Can you think of anything you might have shortcut or done differently?
The fact the defect was there before the glass replacement suggests maybe there was either prior damage that you didn't notice before trying this, or you've perhaps moved the LCD in such a way that prior damage has become apparent. i.e. there was maybe hairline damage and as you moved things the edges moved apart.
Could it be something along the lines of the glue is a bit thick at one end so the screen is now not contacting properly? How much pressure did you use putting it all back in place? Did it take a lot to get it even?
Wish I could be more helpful but, it's not something I've tried. TBH I hadn't even released AMO screens COULD be removed from the glass...
