Just tried the Charge/Inc2/X2 swap....got drug around for 120 minutes of nothingness. Officially the offered ended at midnight because yesterday a final version was finished to go OTA on Monday August 1st. I'm being sent another Fassy in which if problem persists I can get an original X or Inc2.
Yeah, I tried to do this today as well and looks like samsung called off the replacement for droidx, inc2 or charge due to the new update fixing all the issues. Good news for me though that they're letting me upgrade early since they know I really don't want this phone anymore. Well, better than nothing!
Fascinate is a better phone anyway. You guys should be glad the missed calls should be fixed and you can keep it.

I checked for the OTA update a couple hours ago, Bing! Yep, it's here.
I'll be glad if this is the fix we need to keep enjoying our Fascinates. The temptation of a new device is certainly sweet, but this phone is a great performer. We've seen the leaps and bounds accomplished with this phone. We've all enjoyed the greatness brought to us by the developers in this forum.
Thanks All ;-)
Rockin stock ED05 OTA.....for now
Fassys are still laggy phones despite their processor and I still have that problem where buttons will seem like it's pressing by itself. I was actually doing this for my brother and he's plenty sick of this phone and wants a 4G device already after tasting the awesomeness that is my Thunderbolt with full sense 3.0 on it
It would be nice for a bigger screen, more RAM & 4G. I heard even though the screen is bigger on the Charge, resolution is worse and I don't really care for a thicker, heavier phone. I've never had problems with my buttons and such. I'm happy waiting for the Galaxy S 2, a true upgrade.

Then us two can complain and maybe get a galaxy s 2 equivalent which is a more relevent replacement.

To each their own but I think you are wrong about the resolution of the screen of the Charge. It is truly a beautiful and clear screen. I mean I thought the Fascinate had an awesome screen... Not when compared to the Charge. Don't get me wrong. I loved the Fascinate but extremely pleased with the Charge performance wise, radio wise, and stability. So far, top notch.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Correct, to each their own but the Charge appears heavier, thicker and not nearly as attractive. I could see getting a heavier phone if they had to fit dual-core, but isn't it the same processor?
Charge & Fascinate should have same resolution except Charge is stretched over larger screen, if I'm not mistaken. That should decrease the pixel density.
I would enjoy the higher res. camera & front facing camera though.
Galaxy S 2 should embarrass almost all phones out.
ed05 did not fix anything... I still get missed calls and so have others.
IF still having issues I would continue to let Verizon know. The more we as a group complain for having the issues the more they will realize their "fix" did not work.
Well... I restored my cm7 backup last night, after trying to get a replacement upgrade yesterday (replacement fassy on the way). Then I odined the new ed05 radio. This morning I've gotten 2 voicemails with no missed calls. And my gf tried calling me a few minutes ago, but all I got was a phantom ring. I called my voicemail to stop the ringing, and 10 minutes later I got a text asking if the call came through at all.
Its hard for me to tell if it's cm7 causing problems or what... I couldn't stand that nasty touchwiz tho. I'm on the latest nightly from last night. Vzw forums seem to indicate ed05 fixes the problem. If I'm still gonna be missing calls then I want my damn upgrade to the charge!
Edit: Seems like missing calls and phantom rings are happening again during deep sleep in latest cm7 nightly. I should probably just go back to the 7/17 build. Don't much feel like messing with the stock rom to test it for missing calls. So I'll just take you guys' word on whether it fixes the problem.
In other news the replacement Fascinate the tech support guy on the phone ordered for me last night around 7:30pm showed up today at about 3:00pm. He told me not to expect it til middle of next week. Pretty awesome! But I live in Houston and apparently their warehouse is in TX somewhere. Still pretty excellent delivery time. I'm messing with the Glitch kernel on it now, hopefully it overclocks better than my original cuz it looks so shiny and new!

I should clarify that I have only had 1 voice mail with no missed call notification since flashin the full odin ed05 package. Although imo performance and gps is alot better with ed05 vs the previous versions... phone all around operates smoother. I was getting 2 vm's with no notification a day, so it does seem like improvements were made.
Were you getting missed calls with this Rom before or after changing kernels?

Nope the kernel version doesn't change as long as you're using a Froyo kernel. You can see if you have the ED05 kernel by using Terminal Emulator and typing "cat /proc/version" and see if it's dated July 8. Anything earlier is pre-ED05.

How are you typing it? It should look like this:
cat /proc/version
There should be a space after the "cat" before the first forward slash. There should be no space after "proc" before the second slash.

I completely agree. I was excited about this phone. Picked it up at Verizon yesterday and it feels so slugish that I couldn't stand it anymore after just a few hours. This phone is going back and I'm now happily back on my Incredible sporting the new Froyo leak.
I was also very let down by the screen. The touch technology on the Incredible feels so much more responsive. It might not be the screen hardware itself though. Not sure about this but I won't have to worry about it anymore.
Samsung Fascinate here I come!
Getting rid of the bloat (root & rename pointless services and background apps) made a truly noticeable difference in performance for me. The default widgets also seem to be pretty crappy performers.
My phone has locked up completely several times. Unfortunately, this is what I have come to expect from stock android. My Eris did it, my D1 did it, and now my D2 does it. Only before, I could actually do something about it.

maybe it's the apps you're using. my phones have never locked up.
You can do something about it right now. Try rooting the phone and getting rid of the bloat. If that doesn't make a difference, there are at least 2 guides on un-rooting back to factory if you discover you simply got a lemon.
My phone has yet to lock up, crash, stutter or have any major problems. Yet rooting and removing the bloat made an already good phone pretty amazing in my book.
And you can edit your build.prop to get faster UI response and other minor fixes that make the Droid 2 a little faster.
Friend or someone wants to see your phone... You open your "cool" apps to show them..
Phone freezes, locks up, doesn't operate right..
I swear, I can do whatever I want while alone, at my phone works perfect..
Yesterday I show my friends Slingplayer and Homerun3D, sure enough both programs give me problems..
LOL Was in a bad area for slingplayer to work (it works smoothly all the time) and was lagging.. Of course he was like "its a cool concept but who would would ever deal with the skipping"
LOL I swear it never does this, I tell him..
Then I go to show him the Homerun3D game and of course it locks up on me, lol
It always happens like that,...
Sounds like Murphy is a good friend of yours!
That happens to me sometimes but only when I'm doing something totally unimportant.
Your phone knows that your friends are unworthy to bask in its warm embrace and enlightenment.
It goes into clam mode, shuts up tight and looks like a paperweight until you put it away
That or a bad flash mixed with user error

More than I honestly thought. There is a ton of info on the evo that I find useful, even though I'm rooted stock.
I find my evo to be the most reliable handset I've had since maybe before smartphones were around. I still can't believe I haven't flashed and reinstalled my OS 10 times by now and I have had this since august. Granted I did do some playing around with Roms when I first got it. But every since I decided to give sense an honest shot, I haven't been back to custom.
This is the first android phone for me and the first time I didn't feel the need to tinker around with every little thing.
I loved wm 6.5 but it was still wm, and it was full of reliability issues. I still miss my old touch pro 2 and its kwyboard, but my evo is way more reliable.

Picture a layer cake filled with froyo between the layers. A leaky app makes a hole in the layer, froyo leaks up and mixes with the next layers froyo, causing it to spill and the bottom to collapse. The maitre'd named NAND tries to restore it so it looks like the picture on the menu.
One day the froyo got real warm and the menus were changed simultaneously. NAND could not restore it and even the picture had changed.
You see the chef had thought it would be faster and take less work to refill the layers, rather than to assemble and build them when they were ordered.

That being said I use Fresh's rom, because its pretty much stock with some extra goodies.. And full Sense..
I really don't have problems with my phone.. Its just typical with Murphys law,, lol
Oh,i did think of something crappy.
When I first got my evo,i was telling my friends about how awesome it is and how sweet the camera and video recording is, now my video doesn't seem all that great. In fact in 720p it looks so crappy and choppy that I don't feel like its worth having or using.

You can get a 32gb card and still have same issues. You need a class 4 or above. If I could remember I'd post direct statement from htc employee. A lot go with a class 6, but anything more than class 4 and its all the same fluff. Class 2 just doesn't write fast enough for Evo's video.

I think I saw that conversation about the max speed the evo could take advantage of, but I thought I read some where anything beyond class 2 carries no benefit in how well our evos record video in 720p.
Mine is choppy outside in sunlight and simetimes the video out right freezes for a split second. As far recording inside its so low quality that I don't even try to record.

I just switched from a Vibrant to the G2X today. For those of you thinking of switching over you should know that it's buggier than a Tijuana whore house! It's so bad in fact that an entire thread has been started so people can list the myriad problems with it. Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053737
Hell, mine is perfect, no issues..
Remember all the vibrant threads on issues when it was first released? Gps, buttons, signal, cheap etc...
The phone is a beast just like the vibrant despite all the issues it was said to have....
Most of the lil bugs it has is software.. I love my g2x I recommend it to anyone..
I like mine too and have no doubt that the problems will be addressed, either by LG or by dev's making custom ROM's. A RC for Cyanogenmod should be out in a couple of weeks. However if you read some of the posts on that link you'll see that the issues are a little more serious than crappy GPS or slow updates.
no problems here. battery life sucked at first but a factory reset + deleting battery stats fixed that.
seems like besides the LCD bleeding most users are having a good experience with their phones.
Yup I looked at the 2gx but recognized alot of QC problems and just figured I ll wait for S2........... nice to know my gut was right .....
The only outstanding thing about the G2x seems to be its speed, I checked it out at a Tmo store and yeah it's fast but only because of its dual core CPU and stock-like Froyo. I am running Vibrant with Master's Axura ROM and it doesn't feel that much slower than the G2x when it comes to running apps but the webpages opened faster on the G2x (due to its 4G antenna).
The screen quality was very blah after I got spoiled by my Vibrant's Super AMOLED. I am holding out for the Galaxy-2. Even Engadget gave it a glowing review and you know that's something since Engadget's usually too busy sucking Apple's **** to write anything good about non-iCrap phones.

Too true about Engadget. I guess I just got a phone from a bad batch. This one has every bug in the book. Crazy battery drain, random reboots, freezes when it goes to sleep. I can't even return it because I got it on the sly from my buddy that works at T-Mo.

When I update multiple apps on the Vibrant, while an app is installing, my phone is completely unusable. Neither the HTC G2 that I tried for a week or the G2X so much as breaks into a sweat. I don't know what it is about the Vibrant that causes this. Initially, I thought it was the RFS file system. But even with Bionix and the Voodoo fix, an app install renders the phone unusable until it's complete.

It does not make sense. We all gonna get a new phone and Vibrant is the past (G2X is superior to the Vibrant in every aspect (THIS IS SO OBVIOUS) except for the Screen and ). Would you trade your G2X for a Vibrant ??? If you're kind enough to to that, then it is fine to compare G2X to our good old man Vibrant.

I've had mine since launch and haven't had a single problem. Been rooted the entire time. I generally tend to take pretty good care of my phones though. Hello, I just have a suggestion for any of the phenomenal developers we have for the Epic 4g. I currently just flashed CM7 (stock>SRF>ACS ICS>CM7) and am definitely liking it A LOT lol! (now on nightly 11 to be precise). My sincere apologies if this has already been suggested, I hadn't seen this one yet and I do read the forums a lot. (Long time reader, first time poster!!)
So.... I know there is a lot of comments on the funky purple 90% battery charging notification light. Here's my two cents:
If the light is blue when it's fully charged (like on stock) and red when charging (also stock)... how perfect would it be to have the red charging notification light on CM7, then transition to purple at 90% charged, and then to blue at fully charged???
What do you guys think??!!?!
[EDIT] Wow I sound like a dork haha. "first time poster!!!" FTW haha!
I like that suggestion. But I don't have any issues with the charging light as-is, either. I'm gonna take a SWAG * and say that I doubt the devs will implement this, and I really doubt that one of 'em will jump in here and say "Golly, this sounds like a swell idea, jones75534! Consider it done!" But if I'm wrong (on either count, or even close), I think it'd be a neat little feature. I'll cross my fingers for ya!
* Sniper-talk for "Scientific Wild-Ass Guess." I was watching the History Channel earlier.
I guess a purple light every morning doesn't bother me, and why should it? Who gives a rats arse. How about the choppy video recording and uber slow web browsing? Those are bigger things for our sweet devs to tackle.

Completely agree (except get rid of the pink all together. Looks like a bug and unprofessional). I am aware, though, that cm7 works different when it comes to when the LED lights up, and what you and I want is more of want Samsung does on TouchWiz. And to be honest, I think that's better. It charges when red, full when blue. Simple.

Dude btw, ur arrows are going the wrong way. You said stock is better than srf, andthats better than acs ics and that's better than cm7.

Lol... I don't think he was using those as greater than less than signs... more of to show you the path that he took to get to where he is...

Haha, good call my friend. You're probably right! In retrospect, probably should've directed the suggestion more towards custom MTD roms as opposed to official CM7.

LOL, seriously? He was saying that was his upgrade path, not doing a mathematical comparison.

I guess a purple light every morning doesn't bother me, and why should it? Who gives a rats arse. How about the choppy video recording and uber slow web browsing? Those are bigger things for our sweet devs to tackle.

I completely agree with you on the video recording. I actually have that issue too, its one of only 2 I issues I currently have with the rom. I just noticed that this had been discussed quite a bit and so I assumed it didn't warrant mentioning in this post.
My post was just an aesethetic suggestion on a ROM that is near flawless.

BTW, have you checked out Deca's thread on this yet?
I like these ideas. I say someone dev some mods for CM7. Not everybody likes CM7's defaults just like not everyone likes Samsung's defaults. I'm not saying push this into the CM7 tree but instead release some mods that are 3rd party unsupported. How about haptic feedback on our menu, home, back and search keys?

Still getting the same stuttering here on nightly 13. I managed two videos no stuttering then it started again.
