G2X is buggy - Vibrant General

I just switched from a Vibrant to the G2X today. For those of you thinking of switching over you should know that it's buggier than a Tijuana whore house! It's so bad in fact that an entire thread has been started so people can list the myriad problems with it. Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053737

Hell, mine is perfect, no issues..
Remember all the vibrant threads on issues when it was first released? Gps, buttons, signal, cheap etc...
The phone is a beast just like the vibrant despite all the issues it was said to have....
Most of the lil bugs it has is software.. I love my g2x I recommend it to anyone..

I like mine too and have no doubt that the problems will be addressed, either by LG or by dev's making custom ROM's. A RC for Cyanogenmod should be out in a couple of weeks. However if you read some of the posts on that link you'll see that the issues are a little more serious than crappy GPS or slow updates.

no problems here. battery life sucked at first but a factory reset + deleting battery stats fixed that.
seems like besides the LCD bleeding most users are having a good experience with their phones.

Yup I looked at the 2gx but recognized alot of QC problems and just figured I ll wait for S2........... nice to know my gut was right .....

The only outstanding thing about the G2x seems to be its speed, I checked it out at a Tmo store and yeah it's fast but only because of its dual core CPU and stock-like Froyo. I am running Vibrant with Master's Axura ROM and it doesn't feel that much slower than the G2x when it comes to running apps but the webpages opened faster on the G2x (due to its 4G antenna).
The screen quality was very blah after I got spoiled by my Vibrant's Super AMOLED. I am holding out for the Galaxy-2. Even Engadget gave it a glowing review and you know that's something since Engadget's usually too busy sucking Apple's **** to write anything good about non-iCrap phones.

Too true about Engadget. I guess I just got a phone from a bad batch. This one has every bug in the book. Crazy battery drain, random reboots, freezes when it goes to sleep. I can't even return it because I got it on the sly from my buddy that works at T-Mo.

OP, you sound suprised... Why?

Not surprised, just disappointed.

Google LG G2X

Almost all phones comebout buggy and there is a quick OTA to fix, I wouldn't worry about it they will get it right.

People said that about the Vibrant, and look where that got this phone

I only miss the vibrants screen. Thats it.

When I update multiple apps on the Vibrant, while an app is installing, my phone is completely unusable. Neither the HTC G2 that I tried for a week or the G2X so much as breaks into a sweat. I don't know what it is about the Vibrant that causes this. Initially, I thought it was the RFS file system. But even with Bionix and the Voodoo fix, an app install renders the phone unusable until it's complete.

you guys are kind of comparing g2x to vibrant -> which is not fair
It should be G2X vs SGS2

It does not make sense. We all gonna get a new phone and Vibrant is the past (G2X is superior to the Vibrant in every aspect (THIS IS SO OBVIOUS) except for the Screen and ). Would you trade your G2X for a Vibrant ??? If you're kind enough to to that, then it is fine to compare G2X to our good old man Vibrant.

HTC Incredible vs Samsung Vibrant: HTC Incredible is faster?

I have the Vibrant. My friend has the Incredible. I compared the two.
While on paper the Vibrant tops the Incredible in terms of hardware (aside from camera related areas), the Incredible seems to be a bit more snappy. Now I am not saying the Vibrant is "slow", but rather there is noticeable ~.5-1 sec delay when opening messaging, for example, where as the Incredible has none, at all. (I have applied Ryan's lagfix and hit 2.2k on Quadrant... wish Quadrant results would reflect actual performance.)
Seeing as how Vibrant has the better hardware, my guess is it must be Sense UI vs TouchWiz thing. I love TouchWiz (don't flame me) but if it is the one causing my otherwise great phone to slow down... I will nuke the thing.
What do you guys think?
I thought I saw that the incredible was starting to see froyo. Has he updated? That would make a huge difference. If you are seeing lash on the Samsung specific apps. I would say it is likely touchwiz vs. sense thing.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
We need a later firmware revision. The one we have isn't very good. Later versions reduce or eliminate the type of lag you're talking about.
Besides that, I don't know what you're trying to prove here
My guess would be it's Touchwiz that causes this but there could also be other factors involved. I have a friend with an incredible and he replaced his messaging with handcent because the lag he was getting from opening the messaging app itself as well as the threads.

Have you applied the "fix" yet? I don't see any delays or lag when I open apps.
if you apply the "lag fix" i'm almost certain you won't be able to notice any slow downs in terms of opening applications.
from the limited knowledge I have of the whole "samsung vibrant lag" it's caused by the way the vibrant processes I/O read/write? it's very inefficient as compared to other phones. the fix is a work around and it literally makes it amazingly "snappy" and fast.
I'm choosing to hold off on the fix for now, people reporting issues and having to ODIN flash back to stock is turning me off.
*edit - totally missed the part that said you applied the lag fix. reading comprehension ftl

The problem is it isn't just on messaging; its pretty much everywhere (except browsing... browsing is blazing fast.)
I have a friend with an incredible its a few months old but I found the opposite to be true. Using her phone made me appreciate the speed of the vibrant, I almost felt like I was back using a G1. my phone is about as stock as you can get aside from running launcher pro instead of the regular home app.
2.2 will only make this thing faster. I use touchwiz to show off my phone. It is a lil choppy but never slow. I think our only competitor when we get 2.2 will be the x but for some reason im not worried.

After spending more time with TouchWiz's launcher, I can safely say it is the root of a lot lag. Sucks because I really like it.

Upgrade to Epic 4g from evo 4g?

So my evo is starting to act up, wondering if the epic would be a viable replacement?
Anyone done this or have any input on it?
Mostly use my phones for the tether, texting and killing time at work.
Thanks for any help!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Not much of an upgrade unless you want the keyboard or a slightly better screen if you ask me. If your phone is acting up it may be software related? Try flashing a different ROM or something
Could be rom, but Im thinking the meeting with the concrete today may have something to do with it to be honest.
Could be warranty time. Lol.
I'll try a different Rom in a bit.
Cyanogen mod time.
But nothing really better than the evo then?

The Epic is better then an EVO overall..but it boils down to is it worth for you to spend money buying a new one...
your usage is mostly fairly simple, I guess you'd have better time texting if you use the physical kb I guess...or if by killing time you mean running high end games..then Epic would definitely be an improvement..
I mean what do you mean by "acting up" and "killing time"..be a bit specific?
I'll tell you this though Epic runs really awesome stock with little to no issues...

Let us answer that question after official froyo is released and/or Cyanogen mod is fully ported.
I have had 5 random restarts, seem to all happened during data usuage, but I haven't had random ones on this phone before. Trying to strain the phone some more now.
My usuage for my phone is mostly just the tether/wifi tether, facebook chat, texting, mp3 player occasionally, haven't really gotten into gaming on the phone.
I know it may me being paranoid... And I haven't bought a new phone in a while haha.
And anyone swype on their epic? Or is everyone all die hard keyboard?
Thanks everyone

I just recently got the epic over the evo, due to the beautiful screen and so far I'm thrilled. The Evo is a very nice phone and I'd say on par with the epic but the epic has the keyboard along with a super amoled screen. Some say the 8MP camera is a plus for the evo but personally I'd rather have a samsung 5mp than a htc 8mp, just due to their reputation. But both take beautiful pics, so it really comes down to is the keyboard and amoled with gorilla glass worth it for you? I rarely use the slide out, mostly swype, but for long emails, texts, etc the slide out is extremely useful!
So evaluate the pros / cons and see if its worth it for you! I'm more than happy I went with the epic!
Sincerely,
D3luSi0n4L
I agree with D3luSi0n4L, you just need to evaluate the pros/cons as they pertain to you. I'm overall pleased with my Epic because IMO the screen quality is superior and I like to have a physical keyboard (especially when traveling, Emulators play nicely with keyboards ) The only hangup with the Epic is the lackluster support from Samsung. If you really like playing with new ROMs and constantly tweaking your phone, then the EVO will be better for you. Lets face it, HTC phones just have more support behind them. Hell, even the Hero is still getting updates...
Like i said, figure out what's most important to you and go from there.
The epic is a viable replacement. Its noticeably smaller though, even if its only .3 inches. That might make a difference. Other than that its basically the same+keyboard. And froyo isn't out officially yet. and there's a considerable difference in development for the epic and evo...so you might wanna take that into account too, although stock dk28 froyo is good enough. I've been running it since it firs got leaked and my gps is perfect and everythin else works. Even the browser. Wen froyo is officially released, this phone will easily beat evo

Will have to agree with this statement. But again, this is MY OWN personal thoughts on it. I have both phones as well and I find myself using my EVO a lot more than my Epic. Not saying that the Epic is not a good phone because it is a good phone.
At the end of the day though, its all in what YOU want and what works best for YOU. Thats something no one can speak on. Either way, your in a win-win! GOOD LUCK!

A lot of people use swype..most ppl use kb for long messages and gaming...in my case I need kb for remote desktop programming in emergencies...I use on screen kb by default...but I do enjoy using the physical kb for when surfing the net..I so hate using the onscreen kb when surfing webpages on all phones in general..mostly since..
1) web is ment to be surfed vertical resolution anyways
2) the onscreen kb popping up is a mess that blocks my screen :/
hence the physical KB makes surfing the net more enjoyable for me at least..
If you would like to know what we got going over the EVO its:
1) Better processor
2) 3x better GPU
3) 6 axis accelometer
4) super amoled
5) keyboard
6) Better camera
7) Better Audio
8) Gorilla Glass
9) Built in video drivers such as xvid/divx/mkv etc
10) and more...
and probably a few other things I'm missing...I'm not saying the Epic has no flaws..but its definitely a step up hardware spec wise..

I'm sorry guys...I had to do this!

I just had to say that I'm loving this phone. I just got it today and I'm damn near in tears right now! I put on 2.2.1 and I think im set for forever. This phone crushes the Evo in every way...Well..some may bring up updates and bla bla but look at it this way. Gingerbread on the Evo is gonna be like Froyo on the Hero. The Evo just doesnt have the hardware to actually benefit from what they are trying to do with Gingerbread...The Evo simply can't play high end games no matter what's going on and after running Gingerbread on my Evo...its basically 2.2.1 on this Epic but with the different UI and keyboard. Long live Epic!

Ah, Froyo..well...to be honest, the Froyo for the Evo was pretty weak. It ran the same as 2.1, felt the same...only the sense from the Desire HD and Z and I think myTouch 4G actually have the real Froyo. The Evo just has the rushed Froyo >.< I'd much rather wait months for the real deal than the rushed one. And I just put some DK28 rom on it..like I said, I just got it today so if I'm sounding like an idiot please forgive me haha. I havent got the time to go through all of the posts in the Dev section. I did however go through the Dev section and look at some of the roms but there weren't many pics for most of em. I'd like to have the "stock" experience..I dont like themed roms. Is Bonsai themed?

First time rooting a phone here cw3 ext4 flashed 2.2.1 running incredibly fast. So glad I didnt follow my friends to the evo
The part about Gingerbread on the Evo. The Hero had heaps of problems, and coming from that phone, I have to say I disagree with the board angry at Samsung b/c the Hero, G2 or whatever T-Mobile's version and quite a few other phones were all *****ing about updates....and their updates didn't do much.
So Fixxxer can we get Fresh on here too? You guys pumped up my Hero
The Epic was my second smartphone - quite a step up from the HTC Hero, which later died on me.
I live in Canada and bought this phone for $300 no contract off of eBay, brand new (apparently, the seller said that it had a bad ESN, although I don't really care), and while it does have it's flaws (poor battery life, although the Evo also suffered from this and I'm told that the Evo has worse battery life), a bad GPS (calibrating the GPS can fix it), overheating issues when gaming, and a keyboard that misses keys), it's an otherwise good phone. After playing around with other Galaxy S variants, the Desire HD, Desire Z, Nexus One, Sony X10, and a few LG handsets, I wouldn't trade this phone for any other Android phone released in 2010.

Let me tell you something sir...the issues like battery life and overheating are here but when compared to the Evo..I wouldnt even call them issues really.
With my Evo, battery life was so bad...I wish I could tell you how bad. Some people may say "its not that bad once you get a kernel" but it is that bad. This DK28 kernel gave me 7 hours with some pretty heavy usage, when i needed to charge it, i was at 10%...and I had 4G enabled the whole time. Thats not possible with the Evo at all...with how I was using the phone, I'd probably only get 3.5 hours. Battery life is abysmal. The worst thing I've ever seen on a smartphone.
Now with the overheating...this phone does some weird stuff. I cant understand it really...the battery temp stays around 80...thats the same with the Evo. While in use, the temp goes up to 86...thats with a lot of usage (listening to music and browsing). And then after it being at 86 for a while...it drops down to 83 while its still in use. Can the Evo do that? Hell no. The Evo goes from 80 to 96 in a New York minute, then continues to increase! You have to use setCPU profiles for screen off just to try to manage the temperature...its terrifying. So I mean...yeah the Epic heats up and what not and the battery aint 18 hours with heavy usage out of the box, but when it is compared to these HTC phones, this phone just looks perfect.
And i dont really want to start posting comments where im comparing the Evo and Epic but Im just so blown away...I mean, I put so much time into the Evo and its basically all I know but now that I have this Epic..this device is just so damn perfect, I cant stop talking about it..cant stop posting about it...this is how an android phone should be. I mean omg...has anyone ever looked at how it reads the voltages and temperature on here? Samsung has done it all right...its timers are spot on so when you use apps like Battery Indicator Pro, you can actually see differences because of the better timers. The Epic also has better voltage-percentage battery readings...while the Evo is all over the place. It will say 100% is 4.135V and then 99% is 4.035V then 98% would be 4.111V...I hated that. And because the Evo did that, you would always experience random drops in percentage after waking the phone up because it only checked the battery voltage when it was awake so..people in the Evo forum would be like "HEY GUYS, I LEFT MY PHONE OFF THE CHARGER FOR X-AMOUNT OF HOURS WHILE I WAS SLEEPING AND DIDNT LOSE A DROP!!" Well..they did in fact lose a lot of power, the phone just didnt match up teh voltages with the percentages while the phone was sleeping, so when they would start using the phone, the phone would drain like crazy while it tried to get to the right percentage. So annoying...
Im sorry for my rambling, I really am...its just that there's so much to compare here...and I dont think anyone's ever mentioned the voltage-percentage readings when comparing the phone, so at least im not saying anything thats been repeated.
Yes...I too am in love with my Epic. That love would be intensified if the keyboard issue was resolved. If our keyboard was better this phone would be on God level...its more Demi-God/Perseus level now. Still an amazing phone.

You talking about hitting multiple keys as in the issue? Strange enough..I only do that when Im in will lit areas where I can actually see the outline of the keys. When Im in a dark room and all i have to rely on is the backlight, im all good. But whats worse is that in both scenarios i do hit the other keys a lot, but it only registers one. So im constantly double checking because i hear like 3 clicks but it puts the letter i want up. Its kinda annoying but its all good.
Another thing that bugs me is the damn charging cable. That thing will come out for no reason. With the Evo, it was locked in so good you could give the phone with the cable in to one person and you grab the other end and together you could swing it around and jump rope. I move my phone over an inch and it pops out. But its all good.
And how many people installed the gingerbread theme? This thing is popping...the blacks...ahhhhh i love it. My background is black as well (got it from some backgrounds from the app Grallery. If y'all never used that app for backgrounds, you should check it out. Its a ton of abstract art and it looks amazing). With the black background and the vibrant colors on that background and the black status bar...it looks crazy in a dark room. Doesnt even look like you're holding a damn phone because it all blends in to the dark surrounding your in but yet the colors pop out...its just jaw dropping.
Edit: Going to try Bonsai right now...I hope its not themed...well even if it is..im just going to flash the Gingerbread theme right over it...

My Epic is nothing like that ..You can plug in the stock charging cable, it snugs in on mine...I don't know about jump roping
But I can certainly, have the Epic dangling in the air by lifting it by the cable And it wont come out
Your cable might be messed up...You might want to try another different one.

Moving over from hd2

I can't wait for the roms to come out. Its simply amazing that my hd2 running android was actually faster than the samsung galaxy s2 but that is also disappointing given that I am supposes to be upgrading.
Having said that, at stock level the s2 its actually very good. Launcher pro is definitely faster than touchwiz. I have tried to stick with touchwiz but there doesn't seem to be any saving on battery life, hence no point when there are better home programs.
There are some debates about the gps but I get it working in seconds all the time even at home. The builds quality is really poor to the extent that I wanted too send it back the next day. It may be light but it doesn't exude style, more like cheapness. Battery is great without needing any compromise from me.
These comments are all compared too the hd2
hm, I also just migrated from HD2, but speed wise, none of the HD2 android builds I have tried comes even close to SGS II, so which build were you using?
Wtf u talking bout. Lol, android on hd2 was better than a lot of pure android phones. But against sgs2 ur crazy. What exactly is slow about touchwiz? Its not as integrated as sense but not slow on my device.

I also had the HTC HD2 before buying the SGS2. I used to be a flashing maniac. Everytime something new was released I had to try if it was better than what I had already tried. But enough of that.
Once I got my SGS2 I knew why I felt like getting a new, real android phone in the first place. The SGS2 has beat my old HD2 in every aspect.
I only miss the weight of the HD2. After holding it for so long the SGS2 feels like you have nothing at all in your hands.

Touchwiz is ok but the experience is not as smooth as the iphone. Nor is it as good as my experience with darkstone ram build
Yay another fake "i come from xxx phone and the sgs2 sux!"
The sgs2 is extremely fast and responsive on stock rom, so good luck trolling on that lol.

+1, my thoughts exactly.
The HD2 was a fantastic phone, tons of ROMS and dev, but slow compared to the SG2
I don't mind the discussion but why the provocative choice of words.
+1 samething happens with every device released. Its either coming from xxx device or threatening current users with upcoming devices.
Hd2 is the flashers dream, and I have no problems with that device besides the fragile screen. But please remember that the hd2 is hacked/modded/tweaked to death. And I was there when it was just winmo 6.5. It was an extremely long process and has been in development for years now. Its a damn good android device but nowhere near the sgs2.
Its 10 times better than any iphone to above post.

Hmm, you must have a faulty GS2, as I had a GS2 for a bit, and it was so much faster than the HD2!
However, I'm back to HD2 now as the price GS2s were going for on ebay left me with no choice
If you're not making it up, can you please post your HD2 setup so I can make mine faster than a GS2 as well? I'd pay you if it worked!

I probably should stop now as it is clear my experience is just mine. I use the darkstone ram build but with almost no other widget on. It was my weekend os as I needed windows mobile for work.
I certainly feel the iphone os had a more finished feel to the stock touchwiz. For example scrolling to the next screen with the ap news widget and the email widget below is not 100% smooth. A lot of you our there really love this phone and I don't mean to dispute.
In fact I wish I can delete this thread as it is now a meaningless reflection of my own and I accept that my opinions are not shared at all.

Wow, I'm surprised that people are still using my build on the HD2
In some aspects the SuperRAM build will be faster since /system is completely in RAM. This is great for quick loading etc, but in terms of raw performance, the SGS2 has it beat
Still though, the HD2 is a great phone but I've moved on to the SGS2 now. I'll likely start working on this superphone some time soon
wow, i can't believe darkstone is commenting here haha - it was the last person i'd expect to see!
btw - i loved your ROMs, i was a major flashaholic with my HD2 ever since the beginning. Thanks for contributing to the huge breakthrough that was Android on the HD2! I still remember the first desire build
anyways, back to the thread topic
I'm currently using the HD2 and still waiting on Handtec to get stock for the 2nd preorder batch
The ONE MAJOR problem i had with the HD2 was that it did not have a "true" multitouch touch controller. Whenever two points were touched in parallel it would register it as one point of touch.
So my major issue was with TYPING on the HD2. I could never type fast because i had letters jumping here and there.
I temporarily switched to an Atrix and loved the multitouch keyboard. But after using it for about a month and reading about the S2 - i know what's better.
I had a bunch of issues with the Atrix as well so I cant wait to try out the S2. The qHD screen was nice , but the pentile matrix was too noticable for me. Plus it got WAAY too hot.
Here's hoping Handtec gets stock soon
AND I AM SO HAPPY DARKSTONE IS ON BOARD WITH THE S2!! I can't wait for custom roms

Hey, I was quite happily using one of your ancient FroyoStone v3.1 (manually patched up and tweaked with my own stuff of course) until I jumped on the SGS2 just two days ago

Mate, if you reckon the default TouchWiz interface is crap just ditch it and download one of the million launcher apps on the Market these days. I didn't bother with TouchWiz at all - I just migrated my entire LauncherPro setup from my HD2 to the SGS2. The only things that bug me on the SGS2 atm was the stupid battery drain (which I think I've just fixed this morning) and the lockscreen, which I'll be rid of as soon as someone ports over a stock Gingerbeard build.
I came over from Pongster's build because I was so fed up with custom notifications not working.
Only things I miss from the HD2 are the call end button, notification LED and easy access to the MicroSD card. Oh, and TomTom (in Windows of course).
The speed boost is really noticeable in comparison, especially on the Market when you're updating or installing several apps at once.
I'm baffled as to why Samsung made the card reader so hard to access with a battery removal.

Well, yesterday I took my old HD2 in my hands after 3 weeks of using the Galaxy S II.
My reaction was: "How could I carry such an overweight brick for so long?"
I'll have a hard time leaving my old HD2 behind. It may be a heavy brick but it's a good looking and tough brick. And with AmericanAndroid's Gingerbread build and the MIUI Gingerbread builds it's also been really fast and efficient with battery.
*sniff* , oh well at the end of the day it still isn't a "real" android phone so it will be nice to see what that feels like. And I've always got a solid backup if the Sammy goes on the blink. Hopefully Darkstone will have some nice treats for us in the future as well. His Froyostone Sense build was my first HD2 Android experience.
Having moved over from the HD2 myself the only disadvantage I notice is a reduction in WiFi signal strength. The S2 is a lot faster though overall, there is simply no comparison in that respect and I have used virtually every HD2 Android build available at one time or other, both SD and nand.
I miss my MIUI roms though, I'm looking forward to the S2 getting them.

Over the Evo 3D? :-o
The Evo 3D has the SGS2 beat in every way save for the hacky "internal storage." The screen especially is better on the Evo 3D (qHD S-LCD). Plus it, like, has 3D.
Hurry before it's too late and you're forced to buy the SGSII! XD

Captivate => atrix; should I?

As above
I'm getting a straight trade +100~
Would out be worth it? Sounds nice......but.....its locked down and still only on froyo :/
Swyped from my gingerfied captivate
I like it so much better. I sold my captivate and its accessories and got my atrix for 20 dollars more. w00t.
captivate + 100 sounds like a good deal though. I was ready to shell out my captivate + 100 for JUST the phone with no battery cover lol.. then i found a fantastic deal xD

Yup that's a good deal. I went from captivate to atrix too and dont regret a thing even with the locked bootloader. Most of the flashing I did on the cappy was to fix stuff like battery life, GPS and reception. None of those are an issue on the atrix.

Coming from a Captivate myself, I would do it. Just got my Atrix yesterday, already rooted and about to toss on GreyBlur. The whole locked bootloader thing..doesnt seem to be bothering me as much as I suspected. The phone is just amazingly quick, responsive and I know people do it much praise, but the fingerprint scanner is pretty cool imo. Think I spent like 20 minutes making sure that no one else but me could get into my phone

hows the screen and stuff?
I've heard contrast and colours were a bit off compared to SAMOLED or other LCD screens
The only thing I miss about my Captivate is the screen. Overall, I prefer having the higher res screen of the Atrix, but I miss the vibrant colors of Super AMOLED. Colors can be washed out on Atrix, but it's livable.
I was a rom junkie on Captivate, going between Cognition, CM7, and Perception. On the Atrix, I flash greyblur, and I'm more than happy. I like not having to backup my phone and reinstall everything every other day. Everything Just works.
Battery life is far better on Atrix as well, I used to have to charge or keep a sapre battery to make it through the day.
There is zero lag on the Atrix, I mean, zero. The only time I noticed slight lag was when trying to use facebook app while Titanium Backup was running and I was updating two apps. And it was still better than any lag I had on Captivate.
I'm tempted to check out the SGS2 whenever it makes it's US debut, but I'll wait for reviews. I'm very happy with Atrix, but bigger screen and Super AMOLED plus might make me stray.
Hope this helps.
edit: And I should mention, having a GPS that is always spot on is amazing. This is the first phone I've had where it works 100%. Captivate was awful, as was my iPhone 3G.
how did you like your captivate? if it was something you really enjoyed I would suggest getting the sequel. but since you are getting a good deal you might want to go for the offer and if you don't like it, sell the atrix to put towards the SGS2.
As for lag, I only get that with live wallpapers.
The screen on the Captivate to me was nicer I think though that's probably why the battery isn't as good.
If you're a ROM junkie then I kinda think you should hold off on it. If you want a functioning phone then by all means Atrix is awesome. Battery is great, the phone is fast and it functions very well.
It really all comes down to how long can you wait for a new, better, well supported phone as opposed to needing a fully functional phone with android 2.2.
I think if I had the choice of waiting when I still had my captivate .. I might have :x but considering the phone is free lol then NAH I love my atrix.
btw.. there's not really anything 4G (HSPA+ is okay.. but I'm on wifi most of the time) about this phone yet imo.

I dislike it that its battery life has been pretty mediocre and it lags like hell once I start too many apps up. Not to mention GPS

I'm on the verge of deciding; anymore last words and wisdom?
I had a captivate, and the atrix is 10x better. Not as bad in the daylight as the other lcds, and no banding on pics like AMOLED. And don't fret the whole bootloader and lack of Deving. It is fast enough as it is.
Plus it feels right in my hand...just the right weight...just the right shape...no idea. This is almost my perfect phone and I've been through the g2x, infuse, inspire and all the rest in the past month

I've made up my mind
I'm going for the atrix
are you running any P-ROM's?
Yes. Gingerblur, with a modded mix of lime and minimal theme. And normally most "roms"(mostly stock ones with themes) have issues that make them slower than the original roms, or so I have always experience, but gingerblur keeps the performance and is nice.
