How many ppl still have there evo since launch with no problems. I never had any problems with my evo since launch.

Me. No cracked camera lens, no screen lifting, no light leakage, no dead pixels, rooted about a week after I got it, never had a boot loop, never lost any data . . . it's been a good ride, and I'm not through yet.
I've had mine since launch and haven't had a single problem. Been rooted the entire time. I generally tend to take pretty good care of my phones though. I'm extra careful now after learning of this GB mess. I'm pretty sure that if I were to break my OG now, I'd try and fix it myself instead of being stuck on stock after an exchange.

Add me to the list. I have not had one issue.
I also never had 1 issue... UNTIL.... I foolishly accepted the GB update, Now the phone is slow as ****, has random reboots, and freeze-ups, as well as a slew of other bugginess, I was never rooted before, nor had the intention to root, but after this mess that sprint has created, I will root once I can, and enjoy the features I paid for over a year ago....
I've had mine since launch but I do have issues. I have burn ins, power button crack and phone is separating at the top but I'm waiting to do a return until there is root for 2.3.3.
Pocket posted....
not a single problem here, ever
I haven't had a problem either but I haven't had it since launch either lol but thanks to Sprint and there stupid pop up updates I accidentally updated to 2.3.3 and waiting for my turn to experience this thing we call rooting

Unfortunately I'm on my third one. The first one wouldn't allow me to save pictures so they gave me a new one. Eventually I found out I had a bad media card. The second one charging port went bad.

I still have my original evo with no screen protector pre-ordered it from best buy ! Only one minor scatch on the screen. No other problems ! Rooted running Deck rom right now .
Running decks rom too best aosp rom so far. Does anything have to do with the hardware version and the problems everyone's having like cracked power buttons, Light leakage etc.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Notification bar area doesn't work, camera lens fixed a few weeks ago, crack at power button, crack at volume rocker, light leakage, and a little bit of screen lifting. Oh and usb port a little fudged up. Gotta do the jingle and dance to get it to charge. All these issues and yet It's still the most awesomest ever.

Mine's been good to me as well, only had to have the screen replaced once when it was non-reactive. Other than that it's been fine! Even survived a swim in a lake!
Had mine 2 weeks no. No issues yet.Awaiting root!!!
Got mine on June 4 (launch day) and haven't had a single problem. Been rooted for 5 months now. I just fell back in love with my phone after I flashed MIUI. I was waiting for the Samsung Galaxy SII but now I feel I can keep my EVO for at least another year.

Have my original still. Am pleased to say it has not given me any problems at all, and I tend to be hard on phones. I think this phone is in the best shape for its age of any phone I've just about ever had, lol.

I just switched back to my evo for a bit from the shift i got in may. I've had the OG evo since launch, no issues until last may other than some software stuff when i was messing around too much while rooting (lol). In may the phone fell out of my pocket and messed up the unlock button. It is now extremely difficult to press. With no lock and screen off and lock widget however, there is no need for it. I just reactivated the EVO yesterday and rooted, im rockin MikG 2.XX and lovin it. I might just have to roll with it until the new shift OTA is released and I can root it

Friend or someone wants to see your phone... You open your "cool" apps to show them..
Phone freezes, locks up, doesn't operate right..
I swear, I can do whatever I want while alone, at my phone works perfect..
Yesterday I show my friends Slingplayer and Homerun3D, sure enough both programs give me problems..
LOL Was in a bad area for slingplayer to work (it works smoothly all the time) and was lagging.. Of course he was like "its a cool concept but who would would ever deal with the skipping"
LOL I swear it never does this, I tell him..
Then I go to show him the Homerun3D game and of course it locks up on me, lol
It always happens like that,...
Sounds like Murphy is a good friend of yours!
That happens to me sometimes but only when I'm doing something totally unimportant.
Your phone knows that your friends are unworthy to bask in its warm embrace and enlightenment.
It goes into clam mode, shuts up tight and looks like a paperweight until you put it away
That or a bad flash mixed with user error
my windows mobile devices did that all the time, i think i got used to it and only thought about how often it happened when it would screw up in front of a friend.
on evo, i dont have any problems.
not trying to be a smart ass but i bet your using a custom rom.

Yea but I use Fresh's custom Rom..
Besides.. Who here actually doesn't use a custom rom?
More than I honestly thought. There is a ton of info on the evo that I find useful, even though I'm rooted stock.
I find my evo to be the most reliable handset I've had since maybe before smartphones were around. I still can't believe I haven't flashed and reinstalled my OS 10 times by now and I have had this since august. Granted I did do some playing around with Roms when I first got it. But every since I decided to give sense an honest shot, I haven't been back to custom.
This is the first android phone for me and the first time I didn't feel the need to tinker around with every little thing.
I loved wm 6.5 but it was still wm, and it was full of reliability issues. I still miss my old touch pro 2 and its kwyboard, but my evo is way more reliable.

Picture a layer cake filled with froyo between the layers. A leaky app makes a hole in the layer, froyo leaks up and mixes with the next layers froyo, causing it to spill and the bottom to collapse. The maitre'd named NAND tries to restore it so it looks like the picture on the menu.
One day the froyo got real warm and the menus were changed simultaneously. NAND could not restore it and even the picture had changed.
You see the chef had thought it would be faster and take less work to refill the layers, rather than to assemble and build them when they were ordered.

I actually love sense and do not see why people wouldn't want it..
I also got an extended battery which I only use when I know I will not be near a power source for a while.. I have the Otterbox case and just LOVE IT!! so I try to keep with the stock battery..
That being said I use Fresh's rom, because its pretty much stock with some extra goodies.. And full Sense..
I really don't have problems with my phone.. Its just typical with Murphys law,, lol
Oh,i did think of something crappy.
When I first got my evo,i was telling my friends about how awesome it is and how sweet the camera and video recording is, now my video doesn't seem all that great. In fact in 720p it looks so crappy and choppy that I don't feel like its worth having or using.

I don't get it, r u saying that something higher than what I have will fix the issue? I currently have a 16GB class 2.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You can get a 32gb card and still have same issues. You need a class 4 or above. If I could remember I'd post direct statement from htc employee. A lot go with a class 6, but anything more than class 4 and its all the same fluff. Class 2 just doesn't write fast enough for Evo's video.
Sent from my Evo
I think I saw that conversation about the max speed the evo could take advantage of, but I thought I read some where anything beyond class 2 carries no benefit in how well our evos record video in 720p.
Mine is choppy outside in sunlight and simetimes the video out right freezes for a split second. As far recording inside its so low quality that I don't even try to record.

I was using Torch to help my friend install his car stereo and I guess I had it on too long, because when I went to use it again the LED wouldnt light up anymore. I tried taking a picture, recording a video, different settings in Torch, but nothing works. Is this something that can be replaced/fixed or do I have a phone without a flash now? I thought LEDs were indestructible...
LED flashes can overheat and burn out.. Oddly enough, their normal lifespan is 20,000 hours. :O So either you were doing some serious lighting, or it was a manufacturer's defect.
try flashing a different ROM and see if the flash works afterwards, if you've been using a custom ROM and are rooted.
If either it does not work after a different ROM, or you have not rooted and flashed a different ROM, i would recommend backing up your stuff and getting a replacement phone. A burned out flash after little, if any heavy use, is a reason for a factory exchange. Definitely.
Good luck, there.
I have the same problem. I will be getting my phone switched out soon. I guess I won't use death ray anymore...

Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I tried reboot. I am rooted and using a custom rom (Villain's gingerbread 1.2) so I'll try backing up my current setup and restoring a backup from when I know it actually worked. I really dont want to send my phone off, its my only phone line but I may have to.
I think you should just exchange it.
Keep in mind that when you exchange a phone with t-mobile they send you the replacement before you have to send back your own, so there's practically no downtime.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
Oh I didn't know that. I'll get it swapped. The flash makes the camera so much better.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Damn, but torch clearly gives you the warning that after 45 minutes the LED started glitching. I guess you shoulda thought of that before.
The lifespan of a product might be of many many hourse, but not on one use, just like a normal bulb.
I definitely didnt leave it on for 45 minutes, maybe 5 continuous minutes at the most. I'm thinking its lose or it was going bad anyway. It went out once before randomly (not using Torch that time) and just started working again on its own, so I ignored it. It still hasnt come back on, so I think its dead this time.
I've left mine on strobing at several house parties for at least 3 hours each time (while charging). Now I read this... I'm scared to do it anymore!! Lol

I have found that different apps produce different levels of brightness. For instance, the app "Tesla LED Torch" uses the full brightness of the flash compared to "LED Light" which uses a much less intense and most likely more sustainable level of brightness.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
The Torch app that comes with most Roms now has 2 different levels. Death ray, and normal. There's a disclaimer when you select death ray because its inviting impending doom upon your phone.
Tmobile has a new one on its way. They were really good about sending me a new one, I just had to follow a few troubleshooting steps and pretend like it wasnt rooted. I told her (helpdesk lady) my original G1 was rooted and custom romed and she started going "nahnahnahnah cant hear you!" Probably the funniest thing any customer support has done with me on the phone.

Thanks.
Just tried the Charge/Inc2/X2 swap....got drug around for 120 minutes of nothingness. Officially the offered ended at midnight because yesterday a final version was finished to go OTA on Monday August 1st. I'm being sent another Fassy in which if problem persists I can get an original X or Inc2.
Yeah, I tried to do this today as well and looks like samsung called off the replacement for droidx, inc2 or charge due to the new update fixing all the issues. Good news for me though that they're letting me upgrade early since they know I really don't want this phone anymore. Well, better than nothing!

I'll be glad if this is the fix we need to keep enjoying our Fascinates. The temptation of a new device is certainly sweet, but this phone is a great performer. We've seen the leaps and bounds accomplished with this phone. We've all enjoyed the greatness brought to us by the developers in this forum.
Thanks All ;-)
Rockin stock ED05 OTA.....for now
Fassys are still laggy phones despite their processor and I still have that problem where buttons will seem like it's pressing by itself. I was actually doing this for my brother and he's plenty sick of this phone and wants a 4G device already after tasting the awesomeness that is my Thunderbolt with full sense 3.0 on it
It would be nice for a bigger screen, more RAM & 4G. I heard even though the screen is bigger on the Charge, resolution is worse and I don't really care for a thicker, heavier phone. I've never had problems with my buttons and such. I'm happy waiting for the Galaxy S 2, a true upgrade.

To each their own but I think you are wrong about the resolution of the screen of the Charge. It is truly a beautiful and clear screen. I mean I thought the Fascinate had an awesome screen... Not when compared to the Charge. Don't get me wrong. I loved the Fascinate but extremely pleased with the Charge performance wise, radio wise, and stability. So far, top notch.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Correct, to each their own but the Charge appears heavier, thicker and not nearly as attractive. I could see getting a heavier phone if they had to fit dual-core, but isn't it the same processor?
Charge & Fascinate should have same resolution except Charge is stretched over larger screen, if I'm not mistaken. That should decrease the pixel density.
I would enjoy the higher res. camera & front facing camera though.
Galaxy S 2 should embarrass almost all phones out.
ed05 did not fix anything... I still get missed calls and so have others.
IF still having issues I would continue to let Verizon know. The more we as a group complain for having the issues the more they will realize their "fix" did not work.
Well... I restored my cm7 backup last night, after trying to get a replacement upgrade yesterday (replacement fassy on the way). Then I odined the new ed05 radio. This morning I've gotten 2 voicemails with no missed calls. And my gf tried calling me a few minutes ago, but all I got was a phantom ring. I called my voicemail to stop the ringing, and 10 minutes later I got a text asking if the call came through at all.
Its hard for me to tell if it's cm7 causing problems or what... I couldn't stand that nasty touchwiz tho. I'm on the latest nightly from last night. Vzw forums seem to indicate ed05 fixes the problem. If I'm still gonna be missing calls then I want my damn upgrade to the charge!
Edit: Seems like missing calls and phantom rings are happening again during deep sleep in latest cm7 nightly. I should probably just go back to the 7/17 build. Don't much feel like messing with the stock rom to test it for missing calls. So I'll just take you guys' word on whether it fixes the problem.
In other news the replacement Fascinate the tech support guy on the phone ordered for me last night around 7:30pm showed up today at about 3:00pm. He told me not to expect it til middle of next week. Pretty awesome! But I live in Houston and apparently their warehouse is in TX somewhere. Still pretty excellent delivery time. I'm messing with the Glitch kernel on it now, hopefully it overclocks better than my original cuz it looks so shiny and new!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I should clarify that I have only had 1 voice mail with no missed call notification since flashin the full odin ed05 package. Although imo performance and gps is alot better with ed05 vs the previous versions... phone all around operates smoother. I was getting 2 vm's with no notification a day, so it does seem like improvements were made.
Were you getting missed calls with this Rom before or after changing kernels?

Nope the kernel version doesn't change as long as you're using a Froyo kernel. You can see if you have the ED05 kernel by using Terminal Emulator and typing "cat /proc/version" and see if it's dated July 8. Anything earlier is pre-ED05.

Has your phone frozen to the point you had to reboot?? How many times...
I have not purchased a total of 3 of these devices what is for me another was for my buddy and one was for my girlfriend. I personally have experienced one freeze that made me reboot the phone my girlfriend who I convince to switch from an iPhone was beginning to love the phone but now is angry because she has been experiencing freezes a total of three times she just got the phone under a week. Not one freeze. I preordered mine and it's been golden.
Nope none of the phones have been rooted. She claims that the music player just got stuck causing the whole phone freeze to the point where she couldn't answer call. Got the phone the morning of the release and I have been using it extensively since then and not a single freeze, crash, or reboot, or even the slightest amount of lag for that matter!
Sometimes crap like this happens with some random apps, if the problem consists maybe factory reset and reinstall each app one at a time to possibly identify the problem app.
That's just if it is an app though, I hope you can figure it out, this phone is unbelievable and the first of many many phones that has yet to have any sort of hiccups for me.

This is REALLY werid.. so I`ve had this phone since launch and it has been 100% amazing. I`ve had 16gb SD card for years that I have been using so I thought it's time to get a big upgrade, so I now have a 64gb class 10, which also has been solid for 4-5+ days. all of a sudden it froze on me. I rebooted many times and even switched out my old 16GB card and still would freeze (probably 1-2 minutes once its plugged in) I even did a factory reset just cause I didn't have too much on here and its still doing it . never had an issue like this before.

I've fortunately had the above microSD for about 6 months and it has been fine. Seems like ~10% of them are defective.
I still don't trust mine and make sure I always back up important folders to dropbox via the dropsync app just in case it decides to fail on me
Samsung infact, though I must admit this may be fault of the SD card, I found a rouge folder which was read only that was used to do a mounting script. once I deleted this windows I have not had an issue *yet* on my phone.. perhaps a false alarm!
No freezing on mine yet, but there has been a little lag.

And @op I think the issue your talking about was fixed with the update from MDC to MDL, I went straight to AOSP so I never had the smearing issue people were having, but I'm pretty sure they got rid of that from what I heard. Could be wrong though. Have you updated to MDL?

I'm thinking of trading htc one to get this phone. Anyone made the jump and regret it?

I did. Don't regret it at all.

I switched as well. Loved the HTC, thought it would hold me over past my normal 4 months. I was wrong, lol. Was and is a great phone. The g2 is better in my opinion. But comes with tradeoffs depending on your likes. Boom sound, miss them, but adjusted quickly, and believe it or not, I actually liked and miss blink feed. But taptu is a cool news app that you can incorporate all news you like. Phones are almost same size but yet. 5 difference in screen size. Screen is phenomenal on this phone, battery, forget it, I get average 25 hrs with 4 hrs plus screen time and plenty of calling, 2 push emails, loads of texts. Hard to kill battery. So basically, I was weary as well, made the change, and am very satisfied with this device.
And another one who switched from the ONE. Only regretting it a little bitregarding to HTC's update Speed but overal I'm happy with the G2.
The package what the G2 offers is pretty good and you can't go wrong as long you don't mind waiting a little bit longer for Updates

This is xda! Who's waiting for updates? Lol
G2=best phone on the market ATM. But I guess it all depends on what makes a phone best to you. G2 has got everything going for it besides the actual feel. I hate this slippery *****.

After 5 warranty returns (purple camera), at&t offered to exchange my One for another device. I chose the G2. I've been using it for the last day now, and am really contemplating on keeping it. It comes with a great amount of useful software features (notification while charging! Tap screen to wake..and more.) Obviously the audio is not as good, but I don't spend a lot of time watching movies or anything on my phone, so I can get over that!
Battery life seems to be incredible thus far.
I am also pretty happy with the camera as well. The colors look sharp. I think people look a little washed out or cartoonist on the screen in indoor lighting , but the stock app does some processing afterwards correct it. I'd like to post some camera shots to compare since I still have my One. It is Thanksgiving tho, so perhaps tomorrow ?
One negative I will bring up is the auto brightness. I don't know if others have this since I'm new to this device, but auto brightness doesn't seem to work very well, so I downloaded Lux from play store and it works great. So it must be LG 's logic

Auto brightness on stock blows. Very slow and wonky. Lux app removed the problem for me. Even on my last 3 lg devices, the auto brightnes was slow and sucked. Expected it.
Here's a couple comparison pics between the G2 and One. First pic is from G2.
Edit.. apparently you can't add more than one pic using the app.. please stand by while I work out the technical difficulties ?

ok here are G2 vs HTC One photos I just took outside (G2 photo is the first photo) No special settings on either app, just opened camera app and point and shoot..
I prefer the G2 pics. You?
