Anyone of you tried to use wireless sync on Mango?
I tried yesterday, driver installed very well but after ten minutes of connecting to my device when it is at the wall charger - or dock nothing happens!
Why is that or has someone successfully managed to get wifi sync to work?
Wifi syncing Not working
Hi,
Im using HD2 mango rom, Zune wireless syncing is not working for me too.
I dont have a wireless router, so i tried creating ad-hoc network, but it didnt work for me.
Why Zune Wireless won't work
I tried hard early on. I actually got it to work a few times, so it is possible. But the problem lies in the MAC ID. When you sync your HD2 the first time through Zune, it uses the MAC ID that is active. But since we can't lock the MAC ID on the HD2/WP7 combination (see previous threads), every time you restart the HD2 (power on/off, battery removal, reboot) the MAC ID changes. So you have to go into Zune and re-setup the phone.
You have to ask yourself "Is it worth it?"

Its definately not worth it, you can sycn with cable connected much easier, which syncs everytime!

Hi All,
I have spent all day trying to fix this but havn't got anywhere, has anyone got any ideas?
Basicly, both my wife and I have a vario. I can sync mine fine, but when I come to plug in the other one activesync initialy ignores it then says its connecting but then gives up. Windows displays a network icon with an ! saying limited or no connectivity.
After a while the wizard says"Unable to obtain a server assigned ip address".
I tried.....
Reinstalling active sync (4.1) and putting my wife's phone in first
restarting phone (soft)
turning firewall off
tried my old c500, worked fine
....in many combinations, but no luck.
As i have synced other devices fine, it must be due to the fact that I have two wizards and AS or XP is getting its knickers in a twist.
I suppose it could be worse - it could be my phone that won't sync
John
I just tried the non-syncing vario at a friends house and it worked fine!
I feel a XP reinstall coming on (really don't want to do that)
Any ideas?
I don't think reinstalling XP is going to help. I have exactly the same problem. One will sync the other not and I get the IP error thing.
This only started recently after I had to hard reset my Wizard.
Last night I succesfuly synced over bluetooth with both devices but I still cant use USB with one of them.
I have the same. Can sync with IR but not USB.
My ActiveSync won't Sync
I found with "Enable faster data synchronization check box" ON then doesn't even start ActiveSync on PC. Instead the LAN icon starts searching for an IP.
if OFF then it tries then ActiveSync says ERROR code 85010001
this page
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/exchange_errors.php
says An invalid HTTP communication or protocol syntax occurred.
reboot doesn't help.
Are you sync to Exchange of PC files?
if Exchange, try turn off push update, sync, and turn it back on.
sounds like it's stuck in modem mode or something.. have you tried switching between modes? e.g. put it in modem mode and disk drive and then activesync again..
no Exchange
turned off all except contact/calendar
tried disk drive and then activesync but no good
then tried turning bluetooth off and it worked with with "Enable faster data synchronization check box" off
so still not perfect
The more complex, the more can go wrong. Recently my HD2 has not been running activesync on connection. It is a problem after I have hibernated my PC, but also randomly at other times after a disconnect and reconnect.
Following hte advice above I've tried the change to modem, change to disk and back to activesync, but that did not help. Unchecking the "Enable faster data synchronization check box" has now allowed it to connect.
While activesync was unable to connect, I could still connect using a brilliant little program, sadly not recently updated, called mymobiler. That lets me control the HD2 from my PC< and do screen dumps as well. So how come that would connect but MS Activesync would not? And it was not a new install, I've had that since my first few days of the HD2 and worked well until the last couple of weeks, when this issue has become increasingly annoying.
While activesync was telling me I was disconnected, in the Windows 7 Devices and Printers there was an icon for a "Generic RNDIS" but nothing else about it. When on the HD2 I go back into USB to PC and check the tickbox for "Enable faster data synchronization" that icon reappears. Maybe disabling then enabling this check box has sorted it. Time will tell.
Hmmm...
It is not a new issue with activesync and htc phones. This thread is a year old.
In fact a search of hte web shows htis is common across several makes of phone.
Damn. When I installed HTC's latest hotfix for SMS, it soft reset the HD2.
On restart, the HD2 was not recognised by the PC, but it does show in Devices and Printers as the generic RBIS. So; uncheck the "Enable faster data synchronization" and it appears on the PC as a Generic Serial device, then becomes a live device in the Mobile Device Centre. I guess we won't be using faster then.
What I don;'t understand is why both of the showings in the Devices and Printers are Generic. Surely there is a driver?
argh, now it's broken again, had BT on...
htc has no clue and suggests (again) that I just keep creating a new partnership each time I have this issue (daily)
Are you sync'ing to an external exchaneg server as well as locally?
I had an issue with mine that the external exchange and local seemed to clash some how, I deleted the external and all internal connections from the phone's active sync screen and then the local PCwas able to re sync, then added each of the other conections and made sure that there where no contradictions in the syncing rules?
Maybe not your issue but worth mentioning!

I regret this is incomprehensible. "nowt" means nothing, so you are saying that nothing is broken again. That would be good, not bad. Your post then stops part way through and concludes negatively against HTC, though for no reason whatsoever. Please could you repost with something that makes sense?
I have no exchange servers, just local PC,
but all errors are exchange related, so HTC say.
if you dont have an exchange server then remove it completely ftom the list of sync locations (i cant remember how you do this, but its the same screen where you select what you want to sync). ive found that if it isnt being recognised that removing the phone from device manager list in windows (deleting drivers/software if asked) and reconnecting the phone seems to work. i have my driver install set to use windows update to locate drivers so try this as well
HD2 won't activesync via bluetooth
My LEO do sync properly via USB. Not connect absolutely via BT.
my setting is :
internal GPS connect via COM4 to TomTom7, VisualGPSce, TutorAssist
and seems to be:
bluetooth port IN is COM1
bluetooth port OUT is COM2
In my Notebook the lonely Local port is COM5. No other one is available
ActiveSync Bluetooth connection is set on COM5
So i know this thread is way old but figured id give it a try. The screen cracked on my TP2 and I cant get WMDC to recognize my device to pull the data. I'm pretty sure that enable faster data synchronization is checked and my screens broken so i can't fix that. Is there another way I can access the phone? Any help is appreciated ty.
I hate to post this here as well, but I'm completely stumped.
Basically, wireless sync will not start no matter how long the phone is left idle while plugged into the AC adapter. I've got it set up and everything, multiple times. I've tried a replacement phone from Dell. I've tried a new router. I've tried switching my router to 802.11g and 802.11b only (instead of N). I've tried reinstalling Zune. Basically, none of it makes any difference.
If anyone has any suggestions what I might be missing, I'd much appreciate it.
problems related to what the phone does with wireless when the screen goes black which is a windows phone 7 issue
i've gotten it to work just not consistently fof one thing you can try is setting the screen timeout to 5 minutes and resseting up wifi sync in zune after making that change

Maybe it's a firewall issue on your computer? Wireless sync is working well for me, so it does work on the DVP.
Try asking @winphonesupport on Twitter. They are quick to respond and usually helpful.

Thank you. At this point, I have zero ideas, so I'll do anything that doesn't involve spending 3 hours on phone with Zune tech support.
So let me get this straight - you're able to sync when you're not plugged in? As in wireless sync is completely broken for you?

Yes. I can sync the phone (or any phone, it would seem) just fine over USB--without that, I'd be quite pissed, I imagine--but wireless sync simply doesn't exist.
It could be a firewall issue - do you have anything like Kaspersky or Zone Alarm installed? They usually block everything. You could temporarily turn off your AV and/or firewall, and see if it helps.
Also, this may be minor, but I am assuming you have enabled wireless sync under Zune Settings > Device > Wireless Sync?

Yes, that's the only way you can actually set up the process (which I've done dozens of times).
I'm only using the Windows 7 Firewall....I once disabled it entirely, and didn't find that helped.
Funny thing, I ended up trying the no. 3 phone again, and got it to sync wirelessly! And then an hour later, I tried again, and it'd only go to "connecting..." before giving up.
Now it's not even trying. Just like my no. 2 phone. Lovely.

I think wireless sync depends on these services:
Zune Windows Mobile Connectivity Service
Zune Wireless Configuration Service
Are both of those running on your PC? You can check by running services.msc
There may also be some helpful info at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/music/sync-files-with-my-phone.aspx
I've seen that page before, so...nothing new, unfortunately.
Both those services are running, and set on automatic. That was one of the earlier things recommended to be. Thank you, nonetheless.
Hey
I've noticed a few people with this issue however they have been using different devices/computer setups therefore I wanted to see if anyone knew how to solve my issue.
I recently got a HTC 7 Trophy and love it, however I am dying to try out this wireless sync feature but it never seems to trigger and show up in zune as connected.
My Setup:
HTC 7 Trophy sitting on charge on one side of my room, connected to my wireless
Lenovo S10e Netbook running Windows 7 Ultimate with Microsoft Security Essentials AntiVirus
Netgear DGN2000 with WPA2-PSK encryption
when i wake my phone from sleep, the wireless is still connected but it has never shown up in zune. (yes I have setup wireless sync in zune and it successfully completed without errors)
what happened for me...
it specifies when setting up wireless sync that you need to have your phone connected to charger (not usb power from computer)for 10 minutes then wireless sync will start.
it took a good 25 minutes for me and then i noticed a driver being installed into windows 7. Zune then proceeded to being wirelessly syncing..
under device manager i've found
Portable Devices / LEO70 (its my hd2 running wp7)
under properties- device description - Value=Zune Wireless
hope this enlightens something
thanks! I'll leave my phone on charge for the whole day and check device manager every 30 minutes or so, now I just have to figure out why my phone isn't connecting to my home WiFi anymore
UPDATE: Still nothing, the phone has been on the network and charging all day without any drop outs and still not showing in zune, I have restarted my laptop once during the day because of windows updates but still nothing. I will try turning off windows firewall next to see if that is the problem.
UPDATE 2: It installed the driver, once, when I awoke the laptop from sleep with zune already running. I found another 'solution' that involves enabling some services from services.msc and turning off windows firewall with no success. really wish someone had the same problem as me :/

to be honest, i dont see the point... during wireless sync, it has to be powered via AC adapter - disconnect power, and wireless sync stops...(now what sort of 'wireless' is that)
I know some users have docking stations but still it comes down to ...
*sync via USB - fast sync slow charge.
*sync wireless - slow sync fast charge.
You cant roam in your wireless environment and sync...
I ordered a UK DVP last week, it comes with the latest firmware and I upgraded the OS to 7390, but wifi freezes. This doesn't happen to my US DVP.
After a few try I realised that it ight be zune which causes the problem. If I do not connect to PC after the reset, the wifi works ok. If I connect to PC zune, then it will have wifi issue unless you reset.
I just tried to re-install zune on PC and tried to forget the previous devices but it's not working.
Every first time I connect to PC(after reset the phone), once I disconnected, the phone will start download a certain number of games (5 with certain title) which I have purchased, I've purchased nearly all the xbox games but why these 5? And afterwards, the wifi freezes...
What shall I do now? Do I need to hard reset my PC?! To forget these damn devices.
(Everytime you connect a new device, it starts syncing automatically, you can't change setting before that, STUPID!!) I hate zune!!

I believe your Zune Live ID is the same across all your resets. If its the same ID, then it will download your apps. That's my guess.
Yes but why only these 5 or 6? Every time is the same and I've bought dozens of apps. I can't even cancel downloading. Tried after reset my laptop it's still the same. This is stupid!
It will download only those purchased on the PC. Any apps purchased on the phone will not be auto doenloaded
