[Q] PC does not recognize Android 2.3.4 HD2 via USB - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi experts,
Thanx to the experts on this forum, I managed to flash HyperDroid 2.3.4 NAND ROM on my HD2. Its working fine.
But, when I connect my HD2 to my Vista laptop via USB, my laptop cannot find the required drivers to connect . I am not interested in syncing ... just able to transfer files between PC and sdcard on HD2.
I tried to search this forum for an answer ... but, could'nt fine one.
Also, any recommendations for a good anti-virus for my HD2 will be appreciated.
Thanx.
cheers,
- manish

Mhh, didnt remember if i required a driver to getbtge mass storage working...
Off topic: vista is after windows me the worst os ever

You have to manually install them over the device manager.
Hope this helps.

Simple answer, Windows 7
Sent from my HTC HD2

how long have you been using android? because the simple answer is in notification area if you already haven't tried, drag notification bar down and turn usb storage on

i might be wrong but i dont think i needed driver update and what not when i flashed HyperDroid. uh.. have you tried all the ports on your laptop? i found that sometimes this seems to fix problems like this. im taking by what you said this is your 1st Android ROM you tried? if not then was it working before and if so then you could always try another ROM as well to see if it would fix the problem.

Thanx j4n87 ... I downloaded the Android USB driver from the HTC developer site, and installed it on my Vista laptop via device manager. It works. I can transfer files between my Android HD2 and Vista laptop.
cheers,

the phone and computer make a noise when connected
but there is no signs of it on the laptop
it wont connect to zune or wmdc Helpppp.
ps. im using windows 7 operating system for my laptop.
Why are you posting a question in the development forum. This is why mods have a full time job cleaning the forums
MY bad
my bad, how do i move it ?
I'm not sure whether this helps, but I'll try. On my PC the Mobile Device Center doesn't recognize my LEO70, you have to download the Zune application for that. No big deal really, you can do with that app everything you were used to in MDC.
Fix.
I managed to fix it in device manager it was a corrupt driver.
i just right click and reinstalled and it worked from there.
cheers for the help though people!
I have this same problem, but I couldn't seem to fix it. There is no driver at all. It says device not recognized when i go to device manager. As winmo 6.5 and android, the usb/laptop detects my hd2 just fine. But as soon as I flashed wp7, it is not being detected. *pull hair*
anyone kind enough to post the HD2 WP7 usb driver so that I could manually install it?

HD2 isnt recognized by my computer

Hey guys. I know there was a similar thread about this somewhere but the problem I have isnt exactly the same as the one discussed in that one. Problem is my phone isnt recognized by my computer at all. The phone will charge but thats about it. I have tried the device manager disabling all the devices connected through usb and such but no success so far. Any idea what the problem can be?
please install Zune if you havent done so thats all you need
are u trying to dual boot wp7 and android? or u just have wp7 on ur phone?
I already have Zune installed. My HD2 wont even sync with zune. And its just WP7 on the phone

Have you tried to see if another computer recognizes your phone when connected? Typically, the HTC phone drive should install as soon as you connect your phone to the computer.
Try putting the phone in either HSPL or MAGDLR mode and see if it's recognized by your computer as a HTC phone device.
Thanks for the replies guys i solved the problem. I tried using a different USB cord and it worked not sure why the other one didnt work. Thanks again
Edit: ok new problem now i cant successfully install the drivers so i cant sync to Zune. Anyone know what I can do about this?
hmm have you tried another USB port what exactly does device manager show ?
To access device manager :
on XP
Click Start>Right Click My Computer>Click Properties>Click On HardWare Tab>Click Device Manager.
on Vista/7
Click Start>Right Click My Computer>Device Manager
do a windows update if running vista
I updated and everything is working fine now thanks a lot for the help guys

[Q] USB Device Not Recognized

I have a T-Mobile G1 that I had not used for a while. I decided to upgrade it to 2.2 and have been successful (Amon_RA v1.7, Cryogen 6). However, I had to do the upgrade using the SD card and WiFi because the USB is not working. I have tried to connect on both my old XP computer that used to work with the G1 and a couple of other computers using XP and Win7 with the same results.
I get USB Device Not Recognized. When I look at the Device Instance Id on the properties screen it shows USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&64DAA3C&0&1 and most other entries are unknown.
My Droid X works fine so I am fairly certain this must be a problem on the G1. I don't know how the G1 manages the USB connection so any help is appreciated.
I´m having the same problem but with my Vega tablet.
When I go to properties I get te VID_0000 and pID_0000 therefore y can´t install the drivers. I´ve looked everywhere but didn´t find any solution
Try another cable? Or try and see if this one works with another phone.
Same here with my htc magic, was working fine then just stopped. I've almost given up trying to get it to connect via usb, so it'd be great to see someone give a solution
Sometimes that happens to me, I try to reboot the computer as well as the phone. What really fixed it was having another rom installed.
Got a connection briefly today, then after a fresh install of laszlo's fantastic rom its gone again! Weird!

hmmmm... try getting the 'mountusb' apk installed and see if that works...

[Q] USB connection problem - Donation & eternal gratitude for the solution!

Hi everybody,
I hope you can help me because I really can't find the solution:
When I connect my HD2 WP7-device to my computer it charges, but isn't recognized.
- Zune won't start automatically and won't find any device.
- Device Manager doesn't show any unknown device or something that could be my phone.
What I have tried so far:
- Used a XP3 and W7 x64 machine (also ones without any history with a WP7-phone)
- Used a lot of different cables
- Used a lot of different USB-ports
- reinstalled WP7
- reinstalled zune
- (de)installed activesync
- I'm not sure, but first I had a dual-boot solution with Android and I recall USB also didn't work there.
I started to think the USB-connection of my phone might be broken, but when I use MAGDLR, the USB works as mass storage and I can also use the USB flasher. The Bootloader also works, so I tried the following:
- (using bootloader) restored the HD2 in its original state with a official stock ROM and original (locked) HSPL
- Installed a Android ROM: the USB also does NOT work with WM6.5 or Android.
Does anyone know anything I can try now? And Yes, I have read all of the threads of other people with USB-issues and the MS-solutions, but none of them had the solution for me...
Coffee-donation for whoever has the golden tip
Hello guys, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am facing a similar issue.
I installed the LEO70 ROM on my HD2 when it first came out, and forgot all about it. I now want to install the NoDo (7932) update to test it out (and maybe move permanently to an Android ROM eventually when I decide I don't like it). I am facing an issue; I want to upgrade my MagLDR to 1.13 (from 1.12) and ROMUpdateUtility doesn't recognize my phone, giving me the 'Error 260 - Connection' error.
I did remove Windows Mobile Device Center a month or two ago... could this be the problem? I have the latest Zune software installed on my Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (x86-64) machine, and when I plug in the phone, Zune automatically starts and recognizes my phone, telling me there's a phone update available (from February that I need to install to enable future updates). I know it will kill my phone, so I won't install it. Also, USBMassStorage mode works nicely.
Any ideas?
Hi sclip,
I don't mind if you try to find an answer to your problem too, but it seems like a different one, because mine does work in bootloader/magdlr-mode.
BTW. I just installed the stock WM6.5 Rom of HTC, and USB still doesn't work! Can it be the radio of hardSPL or is it just broken?
****, after installing the stock WM6.5, it won't install another Radio/MAGDLR using bootloader, it stucks at the 0%.
I think I might haved destroyed my HD2

That did the trick, thanks. To bad it didn't help my USB problem...
since youve tried just about everything else try this
try using USBDVIEW and delete all the USB drivers
also install it on a different PC that hasnt had WP7 connected to it before
to continue with fault testing will requirer us to rule out the PC or the phone, at the mo it could be anything.
since you have Windows 7 install the XP virtual machine and use that, i believe the VM now supports pass through on USB so it should work, i have an old IrDA adaptor that wont install on my w7 PC but it will on the XP VM

Thanks for the USBDVIEW-tip, quite a nice piece of software! However it didn't help me with my problem. Using a computer which never had WP7 connected before didn't help either...

When you say that it's not connecting, could you specify in which mode? E.g. USB Flasher in MAGLDR, USB Mass Storage in Android, USB Mass Storage in MAGLDR, bootloader etc.
it will not connect when im at my home screen. i have turned off usb debugging on the phone. im not sure wat mode its in when im just at the home screen sorry.
thanks josh
extract it in your dektop.
Connect your Android-powered device to your computer's USB port.
Right-click on Computer from your desktop or Windows Explorer, and select Manage.
Select Devices in the left pane.
Locate and expand Other device in the right pane.
Right-click the device name (such as HTC HD2) and select Update Driver Software. This will launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
Select Browse my computer for driver software and click Next.
Click Browse and locate the USB driver folder. (Google USB Driver, we have already extracted it )
Click Next to install the driver.

Well still check if it connects in USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR. If it does, then you should be all set to flash a newer version of Android. Just follow this guide. Before doing so, download the ROM directly on to your phone's SD from the browser and move the ROM to the root of the SD card. Also make sure to make a full backup of your ROM in CWM and of your data in Titanium Backup. On the guide you should probably skip the step which involves partitioning the SD card with an SD-EXT as this will delete the contents of your SD card.

...What? This makes no sense.
I also have this problem: after connecting android 4.1.2 to windows 7 x64 pc - nothing happends. I tried installing 4 different roms (all released in december 2012), but if I remember correctly my previous android (4.0.4) and the one before (2.something) had the same problem. I also tried 4 defrent pc.
I installed Google USB Drivers in Android SDK Manager but couldn't add them to unknown devise (it said that there are no drivers in the 'usb_drivers' folder. Also tried drivers mentioned in this thread but with the same result.
Tried turning off and on USB Debuging and plenty other options as suggested in posts I found. I also don't have any option to chose while connecting android via USB cable (only turning USB storage on and off - while on pc does see it, but only as an SD card).
Thank you for your answer,
Paul

Unfortunately, if I am correct, this thread solved problems during the installation. This went just fine. Pc detects phone before without loaded rom just fine. But thanks anyway.
