hi i have a rooted mytouch 4G..for some odd reason it wont read my sim card or even identify if their is one.i cant even get a 3g or 4g symbol. I have flashed rom after rom and im using a new radio 26.03.00.04..and i flashed another radio prior to that...could it be sim locked? or has the antenna died or idk..please any help will do thanks
Does it say Emergency Calls Only or No Service in the notification bar? Or does it show T-Mobile, and you have no bars?

You are combining numerous issues into one. The SD, radio, and ROM are all separate issues.
I would check the SD card and see if its still good. Second, I would check your APN settings. Some ROMs do not come with them installed and you have to manually input them.
If all else fails, flash a new ROM and try that.

Dear experts,
I just bought the Mytouch 4G off Ebay for my wife's birthday (unlocked so no contract). I have rooted an LG Optimus T before so I thought I could do the same to this phone. My only problem is that I did not have a sim card in hand so I rooted and upgraded the Royal Ginger Rom without the sim card. Now my phone is working perfectly but there is an error of "no sim card, emergency calls only," even after I insert a sim card that works with another phone. I am running out of ideas, the only thing to try is to somehow load the factory default which I did not back up. At the moment with gfree, s=off, please help :-(...
Two questions... Are you inserting the sim card as the symbol where u insert it shows? Second, is the sim card activated with a carrier?

Hello
After I install FR008 , I LOST MY SIGNAL IN MY ARIA . I cann't even connect to the network at all . I keep getting no services or Limited services .
When i search Manually for an Operator I keep getting , the sim card can't be connected to ... .
HOW TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE ?
I have tried 2 radios .
1- liberty-radio47.41.35.10H_7.09.35.13-signed
2- liberty-radio47.54.35.20H_7.13.35.13-signed

Wow, odd. I had a similar issue. I would look at my phone and have no service (ATT in NYC - YOU GET SERVICE). Then maybe I thought it was my office building, nope. Also tried different radios. Nope.
Went to CM61.1 and never had another issue.
I had same issue randomly before. Though setting network types bring my signal back. In case you wanna try it:
- Dial *#*#4636#*#*
- Phone Info
- Bottom of the screen, try to change "Set preferred network type".

Something similar to this happened to me.
I had CM6, and (without thinking) did a factory reset of the phone (Settings/Privacy/Factory data reset).
When the phone rebooted, it didn't recognize the SIM card. I almost [email protected]#t bricks. The card wouldn't work in any other phone, but other SIM cards worked fine in the Aria.
The solution was to un-root/reinstall stock at&t Android ROM and take it to the at&t store. They replaced my SIM card.

Did the STC SIM card work in any other phone?
I'm guessing that when you flashed the ROM, it hosed the SIM card.
Please check to see if the STC SIM card works in another unlo.cked phone. If it doesn't then it's been damaged. If it DOES work in another phone, then there's something going on with how your phone is interacting with the network/radio software on the device.

It sounds like the SIM card is bad. You should get a replacement.
I'm not an expert on this, and can only suggest. If other cards work in the phone you're probably ok.

What error are you seeing? When I had a problem, the device said there was no SIM card present. It wasn't just "no service."
If an at&t card works on the phone you are fine. You just need to fix carrier issues.
If you want, unroot and load the stock ROM from at&t and try the SIM.

What didn't work?
I'm trying to help (with my limited knowledge).
It really sounds like the STC card is bad.
When you start the phone, do you see a big picture of a SIM Card displayed? If so, that means one of the following:
There is no card present
There is a card present, but it is inserted incorrectly or not completely in the slot
There is a card present, but it is either deactivated or damaged
If you DON'T see a big picture of a SIM card when the phone starts, then the SIM card is in place and not damaged. You may not have service (there is an "x" on the top left of the signal strength bars). But the card is still good. It's also possible the card is not provisioned for STC. They can re-provision it. Call them and tell them the phone's IMEI number.
I really want to help!

Ok...I think I'm understanding now. I didn't know you searched for networks and got the error message.
The error message "Your Sim Card doesn't Allow Connection to this Network" is a good indicator that the SIM Card is defective.
Try the following. If they don't work, try purchasing a new SIM card.
switch to Airplane mode and back again
go to Settings/Wireless & network/Mobile networks and check "Use only 2G networks."
Go to the dial pad and dial *#*4636#*#* and select Phone Information. Scroll to the end and choose "GSM only" in the drop-down box above "turn off radio"
Go to http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset and see if your phone has been reported lost or stolen and re-branded (I'm not sure where you got it, but it doesn't hurt to check).
If all else fails, I suggest getting a new SIM card from STC Mobile. Explain that it just stopped working and you need another one. They may charge you a small fee, but at least the phone will work.
Good luck,
Dan
It's working Now .
thanks
Has anyone had problems with this. No matter what rom, rooted or stock, my phone says "limited service" "emergency calls only". Both Tmo and Htc said send it in. Thought I would ask around first.
I had it rooted running Iced Glacier and all of the sudden, my phone says "limited service" and i dont have anything. No data or voice. My SIM card works fine in any of my old phones, just not this one. I have tried to unroot and root again, using all different roms, and yet still nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? or what it could be? I want to send it in under warranty, except it was rooted and Im nervous they will be able to tell. (i have another post on how to unroot completely with no trace; here)
Yeah, I get that limited service when the phone switches from 4g to 3g and back. Frustrating to say the least.

it seems as if your phone is now SIM locked, but not to TMO. Try booting into hboot and choose sim unlock function there - this is how I unlocked my phone.
Thanks for the reply, but did you need an unlock code or file to unlock your phone? It is looking on my sd card for two files that I don't have...

Maybe your SIM died. Mine did last year with the same symptoms and a new SIM fixed the problem.

do you have s-off using gfree? (sticky in the dev forum). If you did, in hboot you should see an option to sim unlock the device. If you didn't do gfree yet, do it now and try.
Thanks...
And does that unlock for good? Or until you revert and unroot?

It is unlocked for good unless you re-flash the part7* backup file gfree creates.
i get signal issues but only when coming in from the everglades which i chalk up to the phone looking for a strong tower in the area

i am having the same issue. i am using simple mobile so i dont really need to unlock the phone to use it, the first day i got the phone i read the sim card without any problems, it was working fine for like 5 mins and then i got the limited service message. i unlocked the phone with a tmobile code. no luck. i went into the apn settings try changing the settings and it worked once but it doesnt work anymore, one thing i noticed i was able to switch from gsm/wcdma auto to gsm only but it doesnt do it anymore. i just wanted to know if u guys fixed this problem or if i should just send it to htc, i havent rooted my phone. would i have to pay any fee? am still under the warranty program.
I was running RoyalMIUI -1.4.1r3. I tried rebooting, installing another rom, same thing. Didn't drop my phone or anything!
edit :
I installed ice glacier and now it says limited service, and when I try to manually connect to t-mobile, it says " Unable to connect to network at this time, please try again later. Or it said Sim doesn't allow me " It said something like that.
Try pulling the sim card

same thing happened to me about a month ago. there isn't much you can do to fix it. it has nothing to do with the sim card. unroot your phone and restore it back to stock rom then call tmobile and tell them your phone isn't receiving any signal. they'll send you a replacement phone
Hi guys!
I live in Brazil and I got a Vibrant in USA in January. The phone was ok until I update the phone to Froyo 2.2, official from t-mobile website.
After this, strange things started happening when I am at my mother house that didnt happen at 2.1 Eclair. I can't call or receive calls when I am there because of no signal, and it only happens there.
Its very strange, because I changed the sim cards from the same phone company, and still didnt work. But when i inserted them at another cell phone, they worked normally, good signal, I could call and receive calls.
Even more strange because I inserted a sim card from another mobile operator, and the phone worked. I cant imagine what is the problem for this. It started after the froyo update, so i think maybe the new firmware isnt compatible with the network at this specific area.
So I would like to know if there is a way I can return my phone to Eclair 2.1, when things were ok. Or maybe another solution.
I really appreciate your help, sorry for the bad english.
Edgar
You can downgrade to 2.1 using Odin but could be a problem with your sim card.

Hello, sorry if this has been posted before. I search but didn't find the same issue.
I just bought a OnePlus 2 from someone. Before buying the phone, since my T-Mobile sim card wasn't a nano sim card, I inserted a new, unactivated T-Mobile nano sim card and was able to see cell signal bars and successfully make a test call to 611 (customer service). However, after I bought the phone and got my sim card converted to a nano sim card, I couldn't get cell reception at all. It kept saying No Service no matter how many times I tried reinserting the sim, rebooting or resetting the phone.
So I thought it was a ROM issue, and proceeded to upgrading from stock Oxygen OS to SkyDragon Hydrogen OS. After installing SkyDragon, still No Service. Then I thought there must be something wrong with the modem firmware, and therefore flashed this modem I found in the SkyDragon thread.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65329394&postcount=546
First reboot after flashing the new modem, signal bars appeared, and T-Mobile showed as the carrier BUT making calls and using cellular data failed. Rebooted the phone, and it went back to No Service.
Is this an issue with the modem? Should I flash another modem? Please help. Thanks in advance.

I`d suppose to try this SIM-card on another phone. May be this is just a result of bad conversion of SIM-card to nano (have happened to me) and have no clue to ROM or modem.

RMA is better, resolves if at all you have a hardware issue.

I bought this phone from someone, and OnePlus requires the original order details, so can't claim RMA.
However, I found something rather interesting: AT&T sim cards works flawlessly in this phone. After I insert an AT&T sim, and then insert my T-Mobile sim, it starts recognizing my TMo sim. This is so strange, but it confirms a radio firmware issue, not hardware. Will have to trying flashing different radios to see if there's one that works. Anyone can help provide the links to all the radios available for this phone?
