Hello, sorry if this has been posted before. I search but didn't find the same issue.
I just bought a OnePlus 2 from someone. Before buying the phone, since my T-Mobile sim card wasn't a nano sim card, I inserted a new, unactivated T-Mobile nano sim card and was able to see cell signal bars and successfully make a test call to 611 (customer service). However, after I bought the phone and got my sim card converted to a nano sim card, I couldn't get cell reception at all. It kept saying No Service no matter how many times I tried reinserting the sim, rebooting or resetting the phone.
So I thought it was a ROM issue, and proceeded to upgrading from stock Oxygen OS to SkyDragon Hydrogen OS. After installing SkyDragon, still No Service. Then I thought there must be something wrong with the modem firmware, and therefore flashed this modem I found in the SkyDragon thread.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65329394&postcount=546
First reboot after flashing the new modem, signal bars appeared, and T-Mobile showed as the carrier BUT making calls and using cellular data failed. Rebooted the phone, and it went back to No Service.
Is this an issue with the modem? Should I flash another modem? Please help. Thanks in advance.
Any ideas? Anybody?

I`d suppose to try this SIM-card on another phone. May be this is just a result of bad conversion of SIM-card to nano (have happened to me) and have no clue to ROM or modem.

I've already done that to confirm it's not because of the sim card. I actually got T-Mobile to give me a new sim card in nano size...

Other T-Mobile sim cards don't seem to work. I don't have non-T-Mobile sim cards to test.
What band does your T-Mobile work on?
Using another sim?
Are your carriers only 3g/4g compatible, this phone is dualsim standby won't work dual sim on two simultaneus high-speed networks

This phone is compatible with T-Mobile USA, if that's what you're asking. And I only have 1 sim card inserted.
I don't know buddy. OxygenOS sucks. It doesn't allow me to make call. When I hit dial button, it immediately says call ended. Switched to custom ROM and solved issues. Still have some bugs related to network. But I can manage.

I flashed the new Skydragon Hydrogen OS, but still got the same issue. Suspecting either radio firmware or hardware issue.

Skydragon uses h2os software. So might be.

RMA is better, resolves if at all you have a hardware issue.

I bought this phone from someone, and OnePlus requires the original order details, so can't claim RMA.
However, I found something rather interesting: AT&T sim cards works flawlessly in this phone. After I insert an AT&T sim, and then insert my T-Mobile sim, it starts recognizing my TMo sim. This is so strange, but it confirms a radio firmware issue, not hardware. Will have to trying flashing different radios to see if there's one that works. Anyone can help provide the links to all the radios available for this phone?

Does it say Emergency Calls Only or No Service in the notification bar? Or does it show T-Mobile, and you have no bars?

You are combining numerous issues into one. The SD, radio, and ROM are all separate issues.
I would check the SD card and see if its still good. Second, I would check your APN settings. Some ROMs do not come with them installed and you have to manually input them.
If all else fails, flash a new ROM and try that.

Dear experts,
I just bought the Mytouch 4G off Ebay for my wife's birthday (unlocked so no contract). I have rooted an LG Optimus T before so I thought I could do the same to this phone. My only problem is that I did not have a sim card in hand so I rooted and upgraded the Royal Ginger Rom without the sim card. Now my phone is working perfectly but there is an error of "no sim card, emergency calls only," even after I insert a sim card that works with another phone. I am running out of ideas, the only thing to try is to somehow load the factory default which I did not back up. At the moment with gfree, s=off, please help :-(...
Two questions... Are you inserting the sim card as the symbol where u insert it shows? Second, is the sim card activated with a carrier?

any one fix this yet?
Yes. just in my phone and to only one sim card. When I put the sim in my friend's mobile the speed is normal.
possible reasons: Before some day I went to my village and the network reception there is very bad. I couldn't open any pages(pretty slow) .Now I am back to my previous place but the speed is same. I dont have 3G network here.
I have GT-S7562 rooted(dual sim). the problem is only with one sim card and only on my handset. I tried with new GPRS settings, rebooting, flight mode, network searching, interchanging simcards... not of any help. Its been 15 days since.
So what could have gone wrong? help
do u have a data limit?
What do you mean only one sim card? If you put another simcard (ex a friend's sim) does the phone work correctly?
If thats true then you should try getting a new sim card from your provider.
Keep in mind that your data speed has many limiting factors. (Ex. Service strength/ the cell phones actual capability /geographical location or region) but depending on your service provider, it's realitivaly cheap for a new SIM card in many cases. Last time I needed a new one it was $15...

Did you try another sim in YOUR (not a friend of yours) phone? It might be the phone's fault.

thank u all. As I said the problem seems only with that only sim.. other sim cards are working fine on my phone. Anyway I dumped that sim & got a new one.. All works good now. Don't know what was the problem with that SIM card. even Tech staffs couldn't solve it.

7 years later and I am facing that issue. Life is hilarious. Lmao
So,
I was using my XT-1563 on a CyanogenMod in one of my local carriers. I bought a new phone and decided to sell this one, so I went back and installed stock rom. So far everything was ok.
The problem came when the person that was buying it tried to use her simcard. The phone didn't show any error, but it never connected to that network. Then I tried another sim from different carrier and it didn't work either (but it does work using my old simcard). It recognizes there's a new simcard, but fails to connect, only allowing emergency calls.
I've been trying all day to fix this. I have flashed nearly half of all the stock roms available, obviously starting with those from my zone, but so far none has worked.
I also tried the simcard into my new phone and it works just fine.
So, I know the following:
- The simcard is ok.
- It's not a signal problem (I have tested it in different parts of the city and zones I know have very good signal).
- The phone works using a simcard from one carrier, but not the others (and it doesn't ask me for some unlock code).
Thanks in advance for any help, it'll be greatly appreciated.

So, did you ever carrier unlock the phone? I realize it's not asking for a code, but you never said you actually unlocked it.

At this point I'm not 100% sure.
When I bought the phone it was supposed to be unlocked (I got it from someone else) and I'm pretty sure it was, because it was originally bought for one carrier (Entel Chile) and then I used it with another one (Wom Chile). By law, every phone sold in Chile since a few years is mandatory unlocked and this one is not that old (2015).
Right now it only works with Wom Chile, even tho I've installed Entel's stock rom. I think it's some baseband issue from what I've read, but I can't be sure.
P.S: Sorry for bad english.
Yes u r right
i used cm14 on xt1562, i'v feel my network was drop around 30-40% specially on Reliance JIO 4G VOILET.
Over all - rom is good for enjoy but not for stability

Call Metro PCS customer service and see if they can help you. You might need to have a specific plan before they will let you bring your own phone.
I tried again when i inserted the sim card it connected briefly then it disconnected

You still need to call their customer service. You might not have a plan that allows BYOP.

I have a OnePlus 6t with the latest OS version.
I have 2 sim cards.
First is from the provider O2 Germany.
Second is from the provider Drillisch Germany (Drillisch using the O2 network).
The first works fine in my device with the VoLTE and VoWIFI.
The second doesn't work at all.
I tried them both with with many different situation, like one every time or changing the slot for every Sim. Nothing change.
I tried my second sim in another device, doesn't work.
I also tried a friend's sim from the Drillisch network in my device and for unknown reason it works.
I thought there is something wrong in my sim card. So I contact the company to send me a new sim card. They send me a new one. But it also dosn't work.
Any help with the situation.
Thanks
any help here?
not sure if its related but i was having some issues with volte/vowifi on 10.3.7 and volte was getting dropped frequently and vowifi was not consistent at all even when i was using my home wifi all the time. I downgraded to 10.3.5 and its better and more stable now. you can try the same if you started seeing the issue only recently.
Please backup your data before proceeding.
