[Q]Random Reboots when connected to keyboard - Eee Pad Transformer General

I have had my transformer and keybaord for about a week. I have upgraded to the 3.1 OS and numerous times during the day, the tablet reboots randomly throughout the day, only while connected to the keyboard dock. It also has never done this while I was actually interacting with it, just when it is sitting in front of me screen asleep. ASUS support of course has advised me to do a factory wipe and to wait before reloading apps to see if problem still exists. my questions:
1. Has anyone else experienced this same issue?
2. Is there any type of a log file or event viewer that i can get to that could give some reason for this happening?
Thanks!!

Yes, I had this issue ever since I update to 3.1 from 3.0.1. I already open a post few days ago regarding this issue. At that time, no one else have this issue.
Last night my TF tablet rebooted automatically without docking to the keyboard dock... (this is after I did a system wipe after I upgrade to "Leaked 3.1" for the second time). It kept on rebooting non-stop for about 5 minutes. I took out the microsd card and power it off. After this, I put the microsd card back into the tablet and it worked again... But after this incident, my TF tablet has been up for about 12 hours without a reboot. I haven't dock it to the keyboard dock this morning. I'm sure it will auto reboot again once I do.

I"m having the same issue except when my TF reboots it also completely wipes the system, this has happened twice already and I'm not very happy.

It's happening to me too. It's really wierd, never when I interact with it, but I will just be looking at it and it's on the Asus screen all of a sudden. WTF

Mine has started doing this yesterdya, it only happens while it's idle, never while I'm playing with it, I'll just look over and it's on the ASUS logo and I realize it's rebooting. I just installed quite a few games on Sunday night, along with an AV software, instant messenger, a new battery widget that shows a graphic for your tablet and dock battery level, and keyboard pro so I went through first and uninstalled the AV software, instant messenger, and keyboard pro and going to see if any of those were the problem. I really think this is likely a software issue rather than a random hardware issue that just starts happening weeks after purchase, doesn't make sense.

What software did you use that shows the dock battery level? Is it a free software?
I think the random reboot issue has to do with 3.1 update. Mine never happened when I had 3.0.1. I think Google and Asus know about this... I think they will come up with a solution hopefully soon.

That's the link for the battery widget, I did just install that yesterday morning too so it's possible that may be causing it for me I dunno. I updated to 3.1 last Tuesday or Wednesday and I don't recall seeing this random reboot issue until yesterday so I'm not too sure it's the 3.1 update itself causing it, I still think it's some app or combo of apps I've installed that's doing it...

[Q] Random Reboot Issues after 3.1

After I updated to the latest firmware update, Honeycomb 3.1, it seems as though I am experiencing random reboots of the tablet and some battery drain issues when docked to the keyboard. I know people are having the battery drain issues, but what about the random reboots, and if so, do you know how to stop it?
I was also getting the SOD, but I fixed that by turning automatic brightness off. After the update my GMail widget is also missing, but apparently a factory reset should fixed that.
I am probably going to do a reset and start from scratch and see if my problems are relieved....but I really don't want to have to reconfigure everything.
I have an RMA from Asus in case I want to send the tablet and keyboard back for all the issues I am facing, but I don't know if it is worth it at this point because even though some of the issues are hardware related (such as the light bleed and scratches on my keyboard dock), most of it is software related and I really want them to fix a lot of these issues that they are neglecting to.
I realize that Honeycomb is still new and problems are expected, but if they know the problems exist, since it is such a new product, they should be working to fix these issues.

3. If apk calls YouTube apk. The screen became half dark but not freezed. But TF101 YouTube apk still work fine.
4. Sometimes got messed lines on screen lower part. Disappear after running other apk.

Number three isn't related to YouTube specifically, it happens any time you're supposed to receive the prompt to select an app to complete a given action, if you're docked or locked in landscape orientation, and haven't rotated the screen since the last reboot. The workaround is to enable screen rotation, then turn the device to portrait orientation until the screen rotates. (You can do this while the screen is half-dimmed). The prompt will immediately start working properly again, until the next reboot.
One problem not on your list is that the weather widget still randomly adds a half-line of blank space before the location, causing the temperature line to be cut off at the bottom. Also, the new "Last update" line places AM/PM after the date / before the time, rather than after the time where a native English-language speaker would place it.
Additional bug (possibly) - microphone
When chatting on Google Video Chat, and having headphones plugged in, the person on the other end can barely hear me. Take the headphones out and its much better.
Tried using the app called Voice Record which has sound level needle and tested the same situation with the same outcome. Mic is good without headphones plugged in, but once they are, the mic goes to like 2-5% input level.
Tried same on a friends TF with same outcome. Not sure if this is an OS issue or hardware/driver thing

I have the exact same issue (prime 1.7), and I'm pretty sure it wasn't here before on prime 1.6.
I have one issue with 3.2:
When I am trying to open file which could be opened with couple of programs screen become darker, but no table with programs to choose.
The same with all ROM's (Prime, Rewolver, original). When downgrading to 3.1 all works well.
Do anybody experiencing the same issue? Mine is B50

Yes, I have this problem too, maybe I installed a file manager app and the app clash with the build-in file explorer.
When I click the file name of a avi file, the screen becomes darker without pop up a app selecting windows. It seems that the system hangs when a file tries to link with a corresponding app.
Will this happens with the use of the build-in file explorer only?
On my mail, if i hit on a link on a message..screen goes dark also, the post above said rotate screen, now it works when rotated...bug!!! Also, on stock browser doing a entering of info on screen, like a Google search, damn cursor gets removed of edit box. Another bug...I found...decaf coffee taste crappy...hopefully the upgrade the taste...
rotating screen really helps.
Thanks.
This bug doesn't efect any software installed. I have made fresh install with no any software Stock ROM with Nwflash. Bug comes after second reboot. no mater which ROM you are using.
With elder ROM's based on 3.1 no problem.
Anyway rotating screen helps.

Touch screen most of the time, unresponsive (takes alot of tapping for a respond), usually happens at the lower part of the screen,
Is it just me?
Was the 3.2 wifi issue solved with latest update patch, wifi drops out unless you designate static ip?
No problems with touch screen and WiFi for me.
I brought my transformer to Asus service center in my country, to complain about the white spots in the middle of the screen, they have agreed to replace my screen, is that right?
I thought they would replace the whole unit, hopefully the new screen will fix the responds issue

Hey thanks for this tip. The dark screen-pick app thing sucks and was making me insane. I definitely have this same bug on stock 3.2 with root. Other than that, I haven't had any major bugs except maybe standby battery life not being as good as before 3.2.

What is the cause of this? - Touch Input issues

I have been having some weird issues with the Nexus 7 that google gave me so that they could look into the "lag issue".
There was stuff happening before I took the video, it launched the news & weather widget (I think) which prompted the orlando website to come up. Not really sure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y34TzmPEtk&
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O42oNiyyvvY&
It is becoming a huge problem, and I am not sure what to do about it. I don't think a factory reset, or pushing a new firmware image down will fix the problem as it doesn't seem like it is consistent. If I reboot the device all works fine, after several hours 4+ it starts happening, reboot again and everything works alright.
Just really weird, and would appreciate some insight.

Horrible Stutters and Freezes on New Replacement Device

I got a replacement device with stock rom recently and it suddenly started to experience stutters, lags and freezes frequently. For example, I'd be typing on the keyboard and suddenly everything stops responding. It happens in Chrome, randomly whenever I'm using the keyboard, and basically throughout the rom.
One solution is for me to wait 2 minutes and it might suddenly start responding. But the only sure solution that always works is for me to lock and unlock the device a few times (using the power button) and everything goes back to normal for two minutes until it lags and freezes again.
Thoughts anyone?
I had all the same previous apps on my previous Nexus 4 and had no problems....
RMA karma.......
........
These are tough to troubleshoot, but to narrow it down to hardware vs. software, I'd do a Factory Reset, and test, before signing into your Google Account and d/l'ing all your apps. If it works fine for a time/day, THEN sign in and only add a few apps (set Market auto update/restore off for the time being). Naturally do the apps your require daily first, and check stability for some time before adding back your 'fluff' apps. Often a poor app can be the culprit.
This happened to my nexus 7. I had it for about a month and i noiced that it started lagging really bad. Watching a video was just horrible and the responsiveness of it was bad. I just thought that it was a app or the custom rom i was running. I factory restored it and locked the bootloader and it still lagged. I just RMA'd it and i got a new one that was much better.

Actually the keyboard is screwed up too. In gesture typing it randomly draws lower on the keyboard than I'm actually drawing. I'm guessing that it is a hardware or touchscreen sensor problem. I did an RMA and Fido Asurion promised to have a replacement to me by July 3rd. The only problem is that they only seem to send out refurbished phones for RMA's.

Yeah..if it's acting up after a Factory Reset, then no amount of fiddling will solve it. Sorry man!

Nexus 6p freezing a lot

I enrolled to beta programa like 3 weeks ago and everything was just fine, but yesterday after some apps updated the phone started freezing a lot, all the apps started crashing especially WhatsApp and Instagram, when I unlock the phone it takes like 5 seconds, also a lot of times when I go to the home screen after writing something, the keyboard stays on screen and it doesnt hides, I dont know what is happening, if someone could help me I would thank it a lot.

Don't mean to scare you, but that is exactly what was happening to me right before going into an unrecoverable bootloop. Nothing I tried revived the device, although there have been some that have been able to. I ended up RMA'ing my device as nothing I did brought it back to life. You might be in a different situation but just giving you a heads up.
*Bump*
Stock 7.1.1 and rooted here. I've been on the official 7.1.1 release for our 6P's since early December, and for the past week or so, I've been experiencing freezing as well. I'd be in the middle of typing in Hangouts, streaming music in the car via bluetooth and Spotify, or just waking the phone up from sleep. For the past few days, I've been getting 3-4 freezes per day.
On rare occasions, I've left the phone alone to settle, and it returns to normal, but more times than not, a hard reset is the only 'fix'; until the next freeze.
I reluctantly wiped the phone, unrooted, flashed stock 7.1.1 and re-rooted all via NRT last night. The phone froze again this morning coming off the charger...
Granted, it decided to restore 528mb's worth of WhatsApp history as soon as I unplugged it (why it didn't restore on charger overnight is beyond me though). Will update if it freezes again.
The phone runs butter smooth with zero issues other than these freezing occurrences though. MO, the 6P is the best all-rounded phone currently available, even if it's a year old already.
Appreciate any help or suggestions!!
That's odd try ex kernel and over clock or try HEBF manager on play store
Quick update. Couldn't bear the multiple freezes per day, so I called Google to ask for help. Apparently I've done everything I can on my end (including a factory reset and updating to the latest firmware), so they sent out a replacement 6P to me free of charge. They'll also be covering the courier/shipping costs for my old 6P too. Fantastic customer service. Kudos to them!! I called them Tuesday morning (20th Dec) Australian time, and received my replacement 6P Friday afternoon (23rd Dec). Very quick indeed
Half a day after setting up my replacement 6P, including updating to 7.1.1, I started getting the same symptoms as my old 6P. Freezing, unresponsiveness, etc. Persisted for another day and had enough. I've since done a full wipe and downgraded back to the final 6.0.1 release, and it's been stable as a rock for 3 days now. No freezes, lagginess, nothing.
So I deduce it might actually be a software issue with 7.1.1, and not a hardware problem. It appears a growing number of Pixel and Pixel XL users are also experiencing random freezes on their new phones running 7.1.1 too...
Looks like I'll stick with 6.0.1 until Google makes a formal announcement and something is done about 7.1.1. I've missed Xposed and GravityBox too, so 6.0.1 is all good. Most importantly, it's stable
Had you ever tried booting into safe mode to see if maybe an app was causing the issue? Maybe a compatibility issue between an installed app(s) and 7.1.1

Thanks for the pro tip. I did consider doing that with the replacement 6P, but the only apps that I had installed were the stock Google ones that came with 7.1.1, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and SwiftKey. I just assumed if such popular apps were the cause, a lot more people would have pinpointed them as the problem?
I did however read a few users claiming SwiftKey to be the culprit prior to RMA'ing my old device, but even after uninstalling that from my old phone, I was still getting the freezing issues.
