What is the latest Baseband or the best baseband for 1700 AWS Frequency Band for Wind Mobile Service in Canada.
My HTC HD2 keep dropping connection, I am running HyperDroid-GBX-v12.
Is there any ROM which is specific to different networks or provide better signal strength.
or is there a way to tweak the signal strength or any APP to boost signal
Please advice
What radio are you on?
Try the radio thread and flash a different one.

HD2s don't have basebands, they have Radio ROMs
And I assume you have a T-Mobile US one. The latest for that (stock) is 2.15.50.14
Radio = baseband as far as I understand. Just semantics ..
Sent from my Atari 600XL using cassette tape and a stamp.
So, if there is a ROM which works better with 3.5 G network ??

Look I have no hard data showing this to be true. But logic tells me it would be the last radio that was made for the HD2, which is version 2.15.50.14 you can find it here as well as flashing instructions. Here is a direct link to the download.

HI Guys,
Looking to buy a Touch HD to run on the Rogers network in Canada.
Keen to hear from others who are already using the phone in Canada to hear of their experiences of the device running on Rogers?
Also seen that the 850 3G band device is now available in Australia so was thinking this might give me 3G in Canada. Anybody imported one into N. America and had any luck with this?
Thanks,
P
I have one on Fido/Rogers near Toronto, works great besides no 3G. Such a solid device and edge is fast enough for web surfing and email on devices like this due to bottlenecks in hardware. Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS are also strong on the Touch HD too.
The Telestra model may work on 850, mine is 900/2100 though

Thanks for the info. Has anybody actually got the Telestra model working on 3g in north america?
I agree with Zero...everything except 3G works well here (Vancouver). I've even got Caller Name Display going, which is great.
I am also using one here in Toronto. As with all above, everything works well except 3g.
Toronto here too. Works great. I use WIFI mostly and it works great. Won't pay the ridiculous monthly fees that Rogers charges for data. I bought mine from pdaplaza.ca in Quebec.
i think all of us got it early before the Telsa one came out so none of us will be using 3G here.
I just flashed the Telsa rom.....still no 3G.......suck....

Yes I would get the Telstra HD as well. Even if it's slightly more money. The 3G is worth it.
Those of you having one working, could you tell me what rom you have...
i have trouble registering into network and when i do...signal is ther but cannot make calls or receive them.
thanks

I have the T8285 (Telstra version) in Montreal. Works great on 3G network (Rogers). I have a solid and fast HSDPA when browsing the Internet.
It was working with original ROM, but flashed a Dutty 6.1 ROM the first day. I flashed few Dutty's 6.1 updates, and now I run Dutty 6.5 R8 without any issue. Those last ROMs are "shipped" with Radio 1.14, but I reverted to Radio 1.10 because the sound level was to low for my taste with Radio 1.14 (but was still working).
I have also tested a few 6.5 Miri ROM (working well).
So, I did not experienced any issue with any ROM...
Touch HD with Fido
Hello, I am using touch hd from sweden and now I am using with fido in Kitchener Ontario, but I can not get good signals and hardly can call any one and can't recieve calls, however if I am outside then I can get better signals and can call or recieve. I have a feeling it is because of 900 frequency. Is any one have idea what I can do? Thanks
touch HD T8282 working very well in Toronto except 3G. I have stock 1.56 rom WWE radio 1.13.25.24 very clear and strong signal even indoors
You need T8285 hardware. no matter you do (flashing radio and rom). It won't change the UMTS signal to 850. It is hardware related.
I have tried 2.08.50.05, 2.07.50.27 and 2.14.50.04. But still on AT&T service in Los Angeles, California, I get poor connections speed and high battery usage. Any ideas?

Get a different provider? Seriously though, with that much testing and that many radio's...kinda narrows down what your problem is - unless you just have some hardware issue.
LA Radio
2.08.50.08_2 works the best for me in South Bay Area
Try 2.12.50.02 or maybe even the newest one (2.15)

No, it's on a different frequency. You need the Telstra (Australia) model of the phone - I believe it's the T9393.
OK, here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705098
This is for 2.12.50.02
I have put it on my AT&T in LA, so far so good. I am getting 3G where I could not get with other Radios and HD2. Will let you know about battery life.
The best radios I have found to work with the Telstra phones are the x.xx.51.xx series, not the x.xx.50.xx ones. This creates sort of an issue, though, in that many of the custom ROMs meant for the Euro and TMOU leos need to use the x.xx.50.xx ones. I was thinking of starting a thread on this, since it really seems like those of us with the Telstra phones are screwed. I've found many of the roms that are made to be TMOU compatible don't work very well with the Telstra phones. Maybe its just me though.
PS. The stock Telstra roms use the x.xx.51.xx series radios from HTC. I'm wondering if that series has additional support for the 850 mhz 3G band. Here's a link showing an official Telstra rom with x.xx.51.xx radio. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6063136&postcount=558
I just flashed with 2.15.50.14 Radio. Will see how the connection/battery is.

Do you have a T-MOUS phone? You shouldn't be able to get anything else than Edge... the phone just doesn't support the same 3g frequencies AT&T uses... It's a hardware limitation, not software. Only the Australian version of HD2 supports the 3g freqz that AT&T uses.
i have tried multiple radios but i believe 2.12 and 2.14 so far i'm getting good battery and reception. i have yet to try 2.15.
but i think we need more information such as roms you are using, how you use your phone, etc.
by the way, im travel in between states of GA and LA to give an idea of location.
2.10 worked good for me but consumed a bit too much power for my taste. 2.14 is working equally well with lower power consumption. I have not tried 2.15 yet.
2.12 was horrible.

Which device you got, i9020 A or T or a i9023?
You can always check here for flashable radios, be sure to take the one for your device, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Also check if you enabled 2G only, *#*#4636#*#*, telephone settings, GSM or CDMA only = 2G only
If nothing helps flash a stock rom for YOUR device from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664
What rentaric said. If you have a I9020A or I9023, you have the wrong model. For T-Mobile in the US, you must have the I9020T model for 3G to work.
Anyone have a reccomendation for the best east coast(CT) radio
Thanks
I have similar issues in Sweden. Generally, my nexus has lower signal strength than my girlfriends x10 mini.
Model: I9023
Android: 2.3.4
Baseband: I9023XXKD1
Kernel: Netarchy 1.3.7 cfs
Version: GRJ22
A lot of people suggests trying KD3 (?) and sure I could do that but I would like to know what's new.. Are there any (understandable) change log for these radios?

Hello all, I just bought a Defy mb525 green lens off amazon. I'm in the United States and my sim card is from T-mobile. The phone is from south american (not sure which country)
With the stock rom everything worked fine.. but after i installed cm10 all i got was emergency calls only. I tried all the T-mobil basebands.. as well as every other baseband.. not once did i ever get a signal of any kind.. at one point my phone detected at&t but still had no signal..
I then tried cm7 but had the same result..
I then tried stock cee just to settle on something that works but got rid of blur.. but still had no signal..
If you live in the United States and are on t-mobile wat baseband do you use? Could the issue be with different hardware due to the phone being made for south America? (although with the stock rom i have a great signal) Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated..
Thanks in advance,
Eman

I have a similar issue with a Defy MB525 that I bought as a refurb from Amazon just a couple of weeks ago.
When I received it, it seemed to be set up with Spanish as it's primary language...
Anyhow I reflashed it with a motorola sbf file that allegedly was for Tmobile USA and had Android 2.2.
Then I rooted it and loaded up CyangenMod 7.2...
I have a SIM from Lycamobile USA, which rides on the Tmobile network.
Before fiddling with the various baseband selections available via CM7.2 I could not make any calls
Phone info, baseband version:EPU93_U_00.59.01
Partial solution.
Tried all of the TMobile/USA baseband settings - no joy.
In desparation tried some of the SouthAmerican settings and the Asian settings...
The best of the lot seems to be Asia/China/ME722 1.10 850/1900/2100
Which works okay and gets an "all bars" signal for me - for Voice and Edge data.
I suspect this setting works because T-Mobile operates Voice and Edge on 1900Mhz in my area.
Also, in some areas, I get "emergency call only", which is probably on the 850 band that belongs to AT&T.
Problem
I don't get any 3G service. That's probably because, as I understand it, 3G for t-mobile is using 1700/2100 (up/down or vice-versa)
and my radio isn't set up to use the 1700 Mhz band.
Question
Can I fix this with a reflash of firmware - to exploit "quad" band operation 850/1700/1900/2100? Which are all in use by Tmobile and/or AT&T in the USA, according to various Wikipedia articles.
If so, which firmware should I load?
If not, is this a hardware limitation of the Defy MB525? Some builds/versions? Or all versions/builds?

I use the Colombian frequencies, better battery life than Chinese. But yeah, occasionally on some stock builds I wouldn't get any signal. If you're in South America, try using the Retail ROM for Latin America. More specifically "JORLA_U3_3.4.2_108-2_R02_SIGNED_USAJORDMR1B25RETLALA01F.0R_JORLAFRORETLALA_P008_A005_M001_HWp3_WIG147146_Service1FF", which is the one I'm on now.
And no, in most countries you won't get 3g, since this is a hardware issue. I get 3G in Ecuador, but that is only because Movistar here uses 850mhz band for UMTS. Another option would be to sell your Defy and find a Argentina Personal Defy which uses 800/1900, or buy a European Defy that uses 900/2100, since I think in almost every South American country there is at least one carrier that uses those frequencies.
But T-Mobile's defy in South America, as far as I know, will only get you 3G in Ecuador.
EDIT: Misunderstood the post, wasn't paying attention , but my point is still valid. It's a hardware issue.

I'm visiting Melrose MA today and I'm seeing an HSPA signal! Still with the "China" settings...
Speedtest.net says I got:
Code:
Date,ConnType,Lat,Lon,Download,Upload,Latency,ServerName,InternalIp,ExternalIp
"2013-06-21 15:32","Hspa","42.45245","-71.06685",1388,988,282,"Boston, MA","10.230.130.121","83.137.2.146"
"2013-06-20 07:49","Edge","41.33962","-73.37708",198,112,467,"Secaucus, NJ","10.230.142.199","83.137.2.147"
While the "Network Signal Info" app says I'm HSPA at 14.4 Mbps, I guess that's a max.
Soo... this is good, but I'm still curious -- how can I determine which band(s) the radio is operating on?
According to Wikipedia, T-mobile runs HSPA on the 1900Mhz band in some areas and 1700/2100 in others...
Since I set my radio to 850/1900/2100 - my first guess is I've wandered into a 1900/1900 HSPA zone...
My connection is to CID13693382 / LAC 36498 MCC-MNC 310-260 Is there a database where I can find out what frequencies are assigned to this cell tower for T-mobile? Lots of location/map services - but I didn't find any info about baseband allocations in this area...
Hmmm... Let's try switching the baseband to the T-mobile USA 6.x settings...
Same result as in CT, no service, no joy ;-(
Do the T-Mobile USA settings work for anyone watching this board?
Hi there,
I am considering importing a Razr M because of the great form factor and the Qualcomm Processor instead of the Intel which my Razr i has built in.
Now my question is: Is anyone running the Razr M on a Non-US (Europe) GSM network on Jellybean 4.1? Is this working? How's the signal quality? And is HSPA working?
Thanks in advance!
yep, all ok
still have to test using aussie modem
