Which device you got, i9020 A or T or a i9023?
You can always check here for flashable radios, be sure to take the one for your device, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Also check if you enabled 2G only, *#*#4636#*#*, telephone settings, GSM or CDMA only = 2G only
If nothing helps flash a stock rom for YOUR device from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664
What rentaric said. If you have a I9020A or I9023, you have the wrong model. For T-Mobile in the US, you must have the I9020T model for 3G to work.
Anyone have a reccomendation for the best east coast(CT) radio
Thanks
I have similar issues in Sweden. Generally, my nexus has lower signal strength than my girlfriends x10 mini.
Model: I9023
Android: 2.3.4
Baseband: I9023XXKD1
Kernel: Netarchy 1.3.7 cfs
Version: GRJ22
A lot of people suggests trying KD3 (?) and sure I could do that but I would like to know what's new.. Are there any (understandable) change log for these radios?

Hi any rom with froyo for my G3L
Thanks

check out the threads in general section
The regular I5800 europe roms work fine.
Actually, the European versions do cause problems. Since the 3G frequencies are different in Europe and America, an European ROM will not fit snuggly into the American versions of the phone. At worst, you'll never get 3G coverage and will be stuck on Edge or just G, in the best case scenario it will work, but since the phone has to be calculating a number of redundant transmission packets, you battery life will be affected. The only way to really make the problems go away is for an American based company to release a firmware on froyo... which is ridiculously easy if you're looking from the point of view of the developer, because the only thing that has to be changed are the antenna frequencies in the drivers (easily done with the base code and the right tools).
The saddest thing is the superior i9000 (Galaxy S) already has Froyo firmwares in America, Asia and Europe; the inferior i5500 (Galaxy 5) already has Froyo firmwares in America, Asia and Europe. However, for some reason companies have not taken interest in the Galaxy 3. I bought mine in Brazil and have been using it in Argentina, which thank god has SOME european frequency antennas, which means I do get 3G sometimes. However, my battery drains way faster in an European Eclair or Froyo than it did in the American Eclair.
i don't know dude... but when i flashed froyo (kyrillos custom rom) i get everything... even the 3g... and it works like a charm. with the command *#2263# it shows all GSM bands.. even the 850 band.
i have a I5800L flashed with XXJPM (european rom) and no issues what so ever.
try a custom rom . Indroid is very good and fast
Anyone with more insight or experience? Not sure if I should bother picking a 5800L, if I can't run a stable version of Froyo.
Docnus: So zero issues using Kyrillos?
I'm using Kryrillos v3.0, no problems.
Quick & stable. GPS, WI-FI, 3g works fine.
Still confused?
Hi,
Could some one please tell me, what is difference between Firmware Froyo, Honeycomb and Rom's I5800XWJPD,I5801ZHJPF,JPM,Kyrillos,..etc.
Currently using Samsung Galaxy 3 GTi5801, and its very slow.
I need desperate upgrade. Please someone guide me, am newbie to this hole android OS.
Thanks

HD2s don't have basebands, they have Radio ROMs
And I assume you have a T-Mobile US one. The latest for that (stock) is 2.15.50.14
Radio = baseband as far as I understand. Just semantics ..
Sent from my Atari 600XL using cassette tape and a stamp.
So, if there is a ROM which works better with 3.5 G network ??

Look I have no hard data showing this to be true. But logic tells me it would be the last radio that was made for the HD2, which is version 2.15.50.14 you can find it here as well as flashing instructions. Here is a direct link to the download.
I want to start a new thread for Rogers Galaxy S II user.
Please help by posting what build you have on your SGS2, your speed test results , modem type, network,etc...Your experiences, your advice, any input is appreciated.

Slightly off topic, but in Toronto my Bell sgs2 also works best with KH3 modem.
going great
im using a bell sg2, on rogers
lite'ning rom 6.1
xxkh3
no complaints, its awsome
if the OP post is well maintained and helpful, then this topic will be eligible as a permanent sticky
Im using a Bell SGS2 on Rogers as well. Was using KH3 on LeoMar ROM (TW4.5) and now using GingerMod still KH3 (Vanilla Android), Ninphetamine 2.1.3 kernel, and I must say the battery is much, much better on GingerMod.
Yes with the pending release of the Rogers official version, it would be a great idea to have this stickified.
I have KG5 and a Polish version of SGS2 on Rogers, bought from Expansya USA. It is stable, but the battery lasts 5-6 hours. Yes I am using 3G all the time.

then that is normal
even a single core phone only last roughly that time on a full charge, if you are constantly online (like me)
Anybody pick up a sgs2 lte yet?

rooted but stock rom.
Litening 6.1, KH3 modem and speedmod kernel. Bell unlocked running oo
n Rogers.
Bought from Bell, unlocked on Rogers, stock ROM, KG2, rooted. Fastest I've gotten so far is 6.10mbps down, 1.20mbps up @ 145ms ping in the KW area.
I'm located along st lawrence between Ottawa & Kingston...
Small town, only 2 towers...east and west
West end tower, from 8am-12am I get 0.05-3Mbps..usually around 0.5-1.5Mbps..almost always ~1Mbps up
East end tower, from 8am-12am I get 1-3Mbps..usually 2-3Mbps...so less congestion on that tower....same upstream, about 1Mbps
On west end from 12am-8am I get 5-7Mbps down, 1-3Mbps up
On east end from 12am-8am I get 5-14Mbps down, and 2-3Mbps up
So obviously problems with congestion depending on the time of day....
Been testing many modems, currently on KI1..I actually think it is working better for me than KH3. Download speeds seem better during daytime today (only installed this modem yesterday)...could just be luck, or this modem actually is better...not sure which....
KI1 I might actually have a little bit lower signal, but things just "feel" better....maybe it's a more accurate resemblance of actual signal though....idk...
Bell GT-I9100
DlevROM 1.3
SpeedMod K1-t40 kernel
Tried many different kernel's...ninphetamine seems to be my fav so far...but I'm testing out some others to see how well they work....
I get ~18 hours moderate use...that was on ninphetamine with 1.6ghz and undervolted...
on speedmod I seem to get ~41 hours with same usage... no overclock, no undervolting, obviously due to kernel....
same use on iphone 4 would have been 4-6 hours battery absolute max. even when it was brand new...
I always leave 3g on, fast dormancy disabled, wifi on about 65% of the time...
above battery ratings were tested on Cognition 1.5.1, and kernel noted in test sentence...
unsure about dlev as I just installed it yesterday, haven't calibrated or put it to the test.
Bought the Bell SGS2 when it launched here.
Rooted the stock KG2, used Galaxy_S Unlock to unlock the phone.
Used plenty of roms, and with my moderate usage, they honestly usually last me the day. Have yet to try CM7, will soon, but I just love the stock TW look.
Using KI4, 2.3.4 that was just released, with a lighter font, the modified TW4, and of course rooted with XEU CSC.
Amazing signal, better battery life than KG5, and Cognition 1.51 (At least for me, and it was quite a noticeable improvement)
Using it on Rogers, of course.
Waiting to use my hardware upgrade for either the iPhone 5 and selling that, or the SGS2 LTE and selling my Bell SGS2. We shall see.
Thanks for everyboby. I will maintained and helpful this thread.
We are here to help each other.

not rooted, not getting great speedtest results downtown.
Using juice defender ultimate to shut off the radios when screen goes off, getting 24-36 hours battery life under typical usage, less if i am on it all the time, mostly display draining the battery even at 1 step above lowest level.
Have a Virgin GS2 that I unlocked and rooted to use on Rogers.
Currently using KH3 with Cognition 1.51. Happy with everything so far (GPS, modem, etc)... would like to see someone get the Wiimote working though.

I'm on Rogers with Lightning Rom 6.1 with a KH3 modem. I am having reception issues in my area (Markham). Any recommendations on which modem to try? I have heard about KG6 being good, is it worth a try?

I'm using KI3 in Markham area. Works good for me. Try it out.
I upgraded my phone and gave my sister my Nexus S recently. We work in the same office and for some reason she loses connection to the network while she's there. I never had this issue when I was using it and don't have the issue with my new phone. I have an odd feeling that when I reset the phone the radio or something that it uses to restore the phone were different than what was on it when it shipped.
So to make this post a little shorter, could somebody who purchased their AT&T Nexus S from Best Buy please list their build, radio, etc.? Especially if you bought it during the promo when it was free.
Did this happen after u Updated to 2.3.6?

Well I'm on AT&T ... the best Radio For Me is The KB3 Radio. Stronger Signal.. Better 3G Downloads (3-4 mbps) I've reached 5 mbps since I did the HSDPA Tweak .. =]

no issues what so ever.
i reset the device once, but that was after my wife decided that she just cannot use a touch screen, so i took the phone for myself. i ran it for about a week with the factory build/radio/firmware until last night, i unlocked the BL and installed a custom cm7 rom.
Hi,
I have had the note 3 since release here in the UK. I have a unlocked version from car phone warehouse on the three network. However I have poor signal at my desk at work if I hold my phone in the right spot I have H+, but the right 'spot' moves around unfortunately. According to their coverage map I should have LTE signal indoors and out. I do have 4g signal if I leave the building. (I am in the center of London)
So as it appears my signal is close but not quite good enough, I was wondering if there is a good modem firmware out there that people have found helps? I am running the latest software updates (the last 1 I installed was the KitKat upgrade).
Thanks in advance
I am on Giffgaff, they use O2. Currently using the NC2 Modem with no issues and great data speed.

Short off topic, but i dont want to create a new thread: You can only upgrade modem in odin of you have "official status", is that correct? How about a TWRP backup of the modem partition? If s.o passes me TWRP backup of the modem partition, can i upgrade/downgrade modems?

my current baseband version is N9005XXUENB1
so the NC2 is slightly newer isn't it? am I right in my understanding that the version number is the last 3 characters of the baseband version?
Is there a good resource where I can get the latest modem version from?

My status is not official. I powered off the phone, waited a few seconds and did the button combo for download mode, and it flashed fine

Yes it is slightly newer by about a month. If you go over to the alexndr Rom thread in the android development section, in the first post he has just the odin package, its about 50mb.

Katkat modems don't seem to be any different btw, seems they've just rebundled and named the original one - Carrier modem *may* (I say may because I seen no difference) be tweaked slightly different but ultimately it's just a placeholder for APN settings really.
Indoors, always tricky.
It could be related to the frequency band your provider is using. The 800Mhz band penetrates solid concrete with ease, but the higher bands can't.
Any metal in the walls? Killer for any digital signal.
Does anyone else experience the same issues with other phones on the same provider in the same spot?
3G is always weaker than 2G, and 4G is even less powerful than 3G. (Because of the higher required frequency). Have you tried enforcing GSM mode? It'll kill your data speed, but at least you're more likely to get a signal.
Thanks for the help guys.
Yes other people have signal issues too, so I am just looking to get every ounce of signal strength I can.
I had a chat with my network last week and apparently before the end of the month they are rolling out a new spectrum but the support guy didn't know which frequency it was. he was confident it would fix my signal issues. (how true this is or not guess I will see!)
I have tried restricting to gsm and it is still unstable unfortunately
According to the coverage map, 4g signal in my post code is very strong, DC-HSPA i'm on the edge of a strong section. but right on the edge so I can understand dodgy signal. Ive just got my fingers crossed over the next few weeks
Silly suggestion, but... Have you tried opening a window? it could add just enough strength for the signal to stabilize.
