HAHAHA!!! Galaxy s2 Graphics CAPPED!!!! - Atrix 4G General

The samasung galaxy s2 can't render beyond 60fps. It had that locked into the system. Looking at any benchmark, the tegra 2 destroys it!
You thought a bootloader lock was bad? At least Moto can Change that.
the GPU is locked on a hard(soft?)ware level
sucks for them
http://phandroid.com/2011/05/03/sam...cs-performance-locked-at-60fps-but-who-cares/
btw, click on the link, then count to 10. it takes about 10 seconds to work.

And the truth is that the exynos has nothing on the tegra2.
Also the Atrix has a huge advantage with the tegrazone. I mean there is no point in having a super phone of you don't have apps to utilize it.

Our eyes can't see past 60 FPS, so why does that make a difference? It's no different than having V-Sync on while playing a PC game.

Actually most people don't notice anything over 24, no one can notice over 30. And vsync can be set at whatever hz your screen supports, it just happens that most led and lcd monitors/screens only support 60. The problem is when you put a 30 fps cap on video and you get and fps drop its noticeable because the margin is so slim (6 fps). But if your cap is 60+ you can drop 36 before you notice frame drop so your margin is way more.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk

And the phones screen is limited to a 60 hz refresh rate.
Rendering anything over 60 fps is actually detrimental to the image quality, its called tearing.
Not to mention 60 fps is perfectly smooth, you are aware movies are shot at 24 fps?
I would rather take a 60fps cap than a locked bootloader....
Next.......

wow man you gave me really good news!! haha all my friends were like bothering me cause i bought the Atrix and didnt wait for the sgs2 lol

Not really sucks for them.. there's nothing super bad about it.. wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to remove the limitation either..
you say moto can at least unlock our bootloader in comparison? .... sigh.. you don't know what you're talking about ..
In my eyes.. the SGSII will have better dev support.. so you keep laughing.. :T..

No, it is true and has been proven many times. if you want to get really technical, fine. It's not exactly 60.
You cannot tell the difference (unless you're trying too hard) between 70 and 60 FPS.
So, anyways, where are your sources saying it's been proven wrong?

You have to download the file, and watch it. Youtube is 30fps.

anyone have a chance to load videos on your epic? I took the16gb card home the other day, put clash of the titans and super troopers on it. The screen KILLS the evo screen! SO awesome.
I've seen another post where the OP claimed the EPIC screen wasn't glass...which I can't imagine.
Could you confirm one way or the other?
Thanks,

I've looking and found conflicting answers, but what file types does the Epic support?
mp4, dvix, and a few more? What about AVI or others?
I wish I had the chance to play with mine, but we're supposed to have 6 reps in store and we only have 2. So between 12 hour shifts and lines out the door, not much time playing with the device, sadly.

If the internals are anything like the other Galaxy S's, it should play all those formats, NATIVELY. The Galaxy S lines are one of the most well rounded when it comes to media file playback. Samsung's wide support of these media dates back to their Yepp mp3 player days and all with fantastic linear audio quality output.
Just check out how linear this thing is:
A quote from gsmarena.com
Perfect audio quality
Like many other things about this handset, the audio output of the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is downright impressive. The handset was reasonably loud and scored excellently on each and every reading in our test.
The signal-to-noise ratio is impressive and so are the flawless dynamic range and frequency response.
The distortion levels are also top-notch and generally there is nothing about the Galaxy S audio quality that we can frown at. And here go the results so you can see for yourselves.

All of this is thanks to mDNSE - mobile Digital Natural Sound Engine chip. This is the mobile version of the DNSE chip found on their TVs, DVD and other home theater systems.
Has anyone confirmed the video codec support? Since the Epic isn't shipping with the same version of TW as the others, it could be missing some of the codec support found in them.

while the screen is a little smaller than the evo, the screen display is soo vivid. I took the 16gb micro SD card home, d/l'ed clash of the titans 720P .mkv and hot tub time machine, (and put super troopers .avi) and it looks AMAZING. It kills the evo screen. Lighter than the evo. Battery life is awesome on it. I got my coworkers in the rolodex and we just go in the back and text each other from it all day. Love love love this phone. When my boss told me I would be the advocate for this device, I was depressed for about a week or so because I have had nothing but HTC since my mogul, and the moment was not that great of a phone (and the intercept isnt anything worthwhile either... and if I had a dollar for everytime someone complained about a samsung inSTINKt!!! lol). Now, I dont feel bad at all cheating on the HTC brand. This phone is epic! If I find some fatal flaw after it being in my posession after launch.... well, I still have my full upgrade to get the evo, or whatever the next 4g phone will be...

Camera can't take pics of actual monitors/screens

It may just be me and my Nexus S, but whenever I try to take a photo of something on a television monitor or computer monitor, the camera app lags severely and/or fails to take a picture.
Yet, if I have a bit of the screen bezel in the camera frame, it'll take it okay. It's like the monitor is tricking the camera lens and confusing it, so to speak, to the point where it can't even take the photo. It's incredibly bizarre.
Has anyone else experienced this? More importantly, can anyone explain what's going on?
I get this too but have no idea why.
Weird!!
It's happened to me a couple times. Sometimes it works great but sometimes it trips out.
It is because the frame rate of the camera/phone and the frame rate of your monitor is different, meaning you get the out of sync distortion you guys are talking about. Nothing to be done about it except perhaps syncing the frame rates of your different devices.
Remember, video on monitors and tvs are not actually videos, simply a bunch of pictures in a fast sequence creating the illusion of video, movies, tv, etc. Your camera is simply picking up these pictures and since the two devices are not in sync, the camera ends up picking up bits and pieces of different frames, thus the distortion you describe.
Anyways hope I got that right, pretty sure that is what you are describing.
^^ that is completely correct. It is with all recording devices, even VHS from olden days

What kind of monitor/TV? I have had no issues like you've described with LCDs and Plasma panels. On LCDs i do notice that i get recurring darker line going vertically, no autofocus or lag issues. I have noticed some lag issues on point and shoots though, not my phone. Is the phone maybe in night mode or something, maybe auto choosing it?

Ahh, ok that makes sense.

I've seen the same behavior. It's just a hunch but it crashes when the camera app attempts to do post processing on the image and correct some things that are "off", color, etc. the pattern caused by the pixels I think is crashing this process because honestly it was never designed to handle repeating patterns like that.
I've tested it several different ways and it seems to be complete dependent both on the distant and the angle of the camera to the screen.
For those of you who haven't seen it, it just crashes, hard locks, and the only thing that responds is the home button. You hit it and it beeps and the camera closes and the picture wasn't stores. No force close

I don't think so. it seems to consistently happen to me with my NS4g and IPS screens. I've tested on a dell 24 and 30" and it happens every time... The only thing that really seems to have any affect is the pixel density of the screen in relation to the distance the camera is from the screen.

I don't think the point of this new ultra high quality mode is to get fluid FPS, it is to benchmark at the highest graphics settings available on the mobile version of this game engine. This is better for benchmarking because now our scores aren't capped by vsync and it is better for developers because they can see how things are affecting hardware on the market. I would imagine that the things enabled in the new mode are higher levels of anti-aliasing and texture detail. It seems as you go up on resolution the test becomes far more demanding, which means the Nexus 10 has the hardest time of any device.

Yes, They added FSAA, parallax mapping, HDR Rendering and Global Illumination. We are getting fantastic performance considering the resolution and the fact that these are DX11 current gen rendering techniques.

Alright, most of these effects are visible to me. However, I cannot confirm that there is any FSAA applied at all - real geometric edges are brutally rough, and distant texture alpha edges as well.

[THEORY] Remove Touchpad Lag in JB + Theoretically Boost GPU!

My Theory + Story, Keep parts in-mind as they come together slowly,
PT1:
Hey Guys today i wanted to SuperClean & Restart my Device, so i Attempted to type "su", Instead i typed "du" and Suddenly all file locations listed just in my face, and it took like 10 seconds as each directory was flying by and i Saw a tone of writting but a couple of listings caught my eye, It was something like "irq/"
PT2:
Like a 2 weeks ago i got a new laptop, and it had decent specs, Intel HD 3000 as a iGPU and an Intel i3 Clocked at 2.10GHz, so I downloaded Black ops 2 in Hope to get it running at a decent 30FPs at least on Multiplayer, So I Fired it up and it was at an appauling 9FPs, Casually Treyarch gave me the "Optimal" Settings or sth, but then i lowerd them down to Low and saw a big boost to about 30FPs AVG but i was still upset with the frequent FPs Drops, so instead i Google'd some ways of Boosting the Blops 2 FPs, and the First thread that came up was "FPS Tweaks for Black ops 2", So this Thread showed me how to modify the windows Prioritys, It works with IRQ's (Remember this from PT1?) so i Popped up the registry and modifyed my IRQ of my CMOS/Clock Control to 1 and my GFX Card to 2, Now black Ops 2 Was Blazin Fast, i had 50 FPs avg and the lowest drops were about 38 FPs!
PT3:
Within the Listings in Terminal Emulator (after scrolling to find it...) i found "irq/161/synaptics_touchpad", So Isnt this the touchpads in the xPlay?, Well Yes It probably is, so after scrolling down the irq list i found multiple things that could be prioritized (cypress_touchscreen = more responsiveness!, but couldent find gpu.. ), so I thought about the Touchpad Lag in JB, and so well if we were able to prioritize this then wouldent the touchpads in JB be smooth?, Theoretically YES, but it hasent been done yet!, i dont know if simply moving the folder to the "irq/1/" would prioritize this or whether lots of other things are Linked to it, so wouldent this break it?, Well Maby.. Thing is its dangerous to test this and im not even sure if this is the priority stuffs!
I hope we can get this working and finally Fix the touchpad lag at least, but dont forget this an be done for multiple pices of hardware if we can identify the hardware!,

Totally wrong.
You can't edit these things, because are "virtual files" of processes that are running in your device, so the memory always is writing onto these files, and there is no content, only bits. If you have knowledge in linux /proc= process.

Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
EDIT
After more Reasearch, it cant be changed, for sure, as i even tried copying, cutting, renaming the synaptics touchpad file on GB only tho, also the Kernel dosent handle IRQ's so no go for that either,
