Samsung talked alot about battery life so I kinda expected this results. Maybe phosphorescent green pixels helped to achive better results in web browsing tests, or this technology never made into SGS III? What do you think?
See how other phones performed in same tests:
One X
iPhone 4S
Galaxy Note
Galaxy SII
Awseome! :-D

Web browsing is only slightly better than their SGS2 ICS review though.
Call and video tests are fantastic though! Hopefully we're looking at a little more life than the S2. I usually have the screen very low anyway ;D

the important is you can enjoy the device 1 full day on hard use and maybe on daily use 2 days
This makes me sooooooo excited
Wow very good. A larger battery but a more battery consuming screen comes out a better score than HOX.
Wow really good results
The question is how long before Samsung release a 2500 mah extended battery? That would make it even more epic.
45hours

I haven't owned a phone for a while where the battery time didn't see improvement on some of the roms and see no reason why that would change with this one. I do notice as I read threads like this that most people seem to be happy running their screens at lower brightnesses. I'm not one of them lol, I like it nice and bright at all times.
i smell bull****.
I very much doubt the video playback numbers, unless it was a video playblack of a black screen.

Only 2500? Id like to see a 2750 or like that. Wont add that much to design and it would be awesome! 40+ hour's is great, add on maybe +5 and that would be great. Wishful thinking if it was a 3300 ext battery like a RAZR. If only it wasn't Motorola.

Yes, of course.
But i still don't believe that the display uses less power than the internals in a low power state with the 3g antenna active.

Use the front-facing camera much?
So I'm in the USA, and I see a Galaxy S-like device called the captivate coming to AT&T...
I see the AT&T version has no flash and no front-facing camera. Does anyone use the front-facing camera much? If so, what for? Self pics/mirror or actual video conversations?
Any other differences between the Galaxy S (as on Samsung's web-site) and the Captivate?
Thanks,
Manos
Depends on your situation whether you'll be using the front-facing camera for video chats or whatnot. I personally wouldn't use the front camera for much since not many people I know have front facing cameras, too and I don't really care for it.
The only difference we can see so far is a different phone design, missing front camera, and apparently the AT&T version gets a gyroscope/six-axis motion sensor aimed at gaming. The AT&T version is also a 16gb base handset but you can add a microSD card for a maximum of 32gb.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the AT&T version although I'm bummed they scrapped the front-facing camera because of principle (Competition is too close for iPhone).
What power widget is that in the center?
ooh..no led notifications??
i was expecting the little strip above the word samsung to have leds??
Actually the phone has 384000 tiny LEDs. Do you want more?
Now seriously: Since AMOLEDs only consume energy when used, it would be great if the screen (in standby) could show some small visual notification. Are you listening Samsung?

Knowing Samsung, I'd expect it to undercut the iPad.
Although I have no use for something like this, I can see the great potential for it as a seller because it fills a great gap in between large tablets and smartphones. The 5-inch Streak is too tiny to be a serious tablet and too large as a phone. 7-inches might do the trick.
oooo buy me one too!
Thanks!
Can hold it with one hand? That's a plus. Although I don't know if it'll be comfortable, but at least you can do it.

This is definitely a plus. I believe the market is out there for a device this size.
The SGS Pad is something I might consider buying as an e-eader or portable video player. Otherwise it's not really gonna do anything my Vibrant doesn't. It just has a larger screen.
You guys know it's not called a "pad" right??
it is "TAB"
Let's not let this beauty have all the female jokes the iPad had
Can't wait for this either!
Hope it has an SAMOLED screen and supports TMobile 3g
Too small
I think the iPad's size is right. This is too small. But the iPad is too heavy. It needs to be as light as the Nook and as big as the iPad - and I think the Super Amoled Screen does reduce one layer of glass, so it might help. I wonder how much of the iPad's weight is the battery's weight.
Is this going to be carrier based or is it going to allow any average joe to walk in and just buy one? WiFi or cellar based? I don't need another cell phone, but at the same time I really don't need an over sized Vibrant and that is why its not going to sell like hot cakes. Well then again tons of people bought the iPad.

Agreed. There isn't much that I can do with 7 inches that I can't do with 4. I'll be waiting on a tablet with 10 inches of screen real estate or better.

Hahaha, great...I guess we can compare the ''mystical" waiting for something like GB 2.3.4,ICS is a religious waiting for some...also the ranting over phones and OS's is sometimes more fun to watch than the religious ranting
As for the S3 specs, two cents:
- we're all gonna have the option to get a Sammy official gear a lead acid carry on bag to get a decent battery life. AOS is huge on 2 [email protected] GHz, just imagine on a quad [email protected] 2.0.....
- who the hell needs a quad core? multicores were developed with performance in mind, BUT also in order to SAVE power...exactly the opposite behavior on SGS2...WTF? they can't optimize the GB for two cores, what's next: the phone that makes the party as a grill replacement device?
PS. I forgot, this is a "some devs" directed question: WITH 4 CORES, 3 SECS WAKE-UP LAG SHOULD BE REGARDED AS ACCEPTABLE, RIGHT?

Trolling as in ... what?
Two main issues with SGS2as it stands today-2.3.6: battery draining to Aos\wakelock and wake-up lag. Did you see any of these issues solved yet? No.
Extrapolate to 2.0G quadcore and 4.65 screen.
Lol what? A 2ghz quad-core? And my desktop is still just dual-core . I'm definitely not buying a phone that is more powerful than my PC

Guys, afaik this isnt the galaxy s3, I think its the samsung galaxy m. I dont think samsung would bring out a updated galaxy s2 with 2 additional cores and a higher resolution display and name it galaxy s 3.
Nope guys, Mali 400 is nowadays not really modern. If this would be the galaxy s 3 I wouldnt buy this But its the galaxy M and its ok But I'm waiting for galaxy s3, so hopefully there will be some nice specs.

In my opinion, it's definitly the Galaxy M.
I'm pretty sure that the new Galaxy S III is the GT-I9500.
Whatever it is, its ugly as hell.
Sure hope this really isn't the s3.
Hoping for something kind of like the gnexus with all the bells and whistles the gn is missing (more mpx, sd card, removable battery, none pentile samoled, etc)
Anyway, i was happier to see the blaze coming out. Proper updated phone within the 4'' range instead this latest trend of huge slabs of plastic, even if it isn't winning any beauty contest...

Lots and lots of fake leaks been around s3 a long time now.. i think i just wait for official release notes and when its released i read what it got and probably buy it
I mean the thing is that new phones got quite a lot of power to do anything but the real question is how is battery life and how big screen you like.
So far the galaxy S been faithful phone with oc and very damn nice roms so i could get more from it than i imagined. As long as s3 got great battery life and all other things way better than other phones i really am going to buy it
