I'm running a stock Telus DHD and 3 or 4 times a day in areas that I know I get good service I'll lose service temporarily. Sometimes it can be 30seconds sometimes up to 5mins. Telus says it's because they don't have enough towers, but never had this issue on my N1 nor do my two friends have this issue with their DHD's. Anything I can do? Telus doesn't seem willing to swap the handset and claims the issue is on their end.
I seem to b experiencing same thing lately. Network signal just drops... have to either select it manually or restart. No issue with my other phone!
Mayb a phone issue....im stock 1.72

I had to threaten to cancel our corporate accounts before TELUS would take the matter on my personal phone seriously. Pathetic. They are going to send me a loaner to see if it is a device issue or a network issue.

I currently have an HTC Vision and have tried running multiple different ROMs, each with different radio basebands and kernels. However, I seemingly have an issue in a specific spot with data, so I've come to the conclusion that it's not my phone. Basically, my phone will be blazing along on 4G/HSPA+ then all of a sudden BAM!, data stops and it says I'm on 3G yet nothing will load. I tried reporting it to T-Mo customer service, and the woman I spoke with the second time was just... well... retarded and I couldn't understand her Engrish, but what I did understand was "the towers shouldn't affect your data sir" ... really!?!? How do I get my data service then?? I don't know why T-Mobile has gone about hiring people who hardly speak English all of a sudden, but that was one of my favorite perks of T-Mobile... customer service I could understand. Should I try getting through to Customer Care?

I guess it really depends on how big the "dead" spot is and how much time you spend there. If it is a really specific spot, and you spend little time there, than no, I don't think it is really worth your time. Might be some strong interference nearby affecting that spot.
It's a broad general area, not a small specific location. Already called them about it and they found issues with the tower. Thanks for the reply though!
I would recommend to flash back to factory settings and then try to install whatever you want.
Twirl ... you're missing the point. It's only in one specific location. Not to mention, after 4 phonecalls to customer care and speaking with Tier 2 reps, it's been resolved. The tower in fact was malfunctioning. Problem solved.

Ok hello everyone i got a huge problem in my hands. I bought a HTC HD2 for my girlfriend and proceeded to go through the awesome process of flashing all the recoveries and what not.
Its currently sitting with latest MAG/HARDSPL and latest MIUI rom working great.
The biggest issue i have encountered is the fact that the signal is horrible, wont go over 2 bars EVER, unless it drops all the way down and switches over to Edge then has full bars (witch i don't get) She gets a connection to H for maybe 15 seconds then drops to 3G then drops to nothing.
Funniest thing is once you pick it up you can see the bars just go way down, i have goggled like a madman, researched the most i can, tried different Radio and Rom combinations.
We both are under the Simple Mobile network and i have a G2x and the signal is perfect on my phone her struggles wherever we go
I've been reading this guide and i might decide to do this, unless someone with the same issue has found a different solution to the issue.

I would appreciate any help and thank you guys for taking the time to read this.
I've been going through this latley I'm on my 4th hd2 since February and 3rd sim card...second phone this week they mailed to me...but anyways I finally talked to a network tech from T-Mobile and he said its not the phone or sim its actually the transmission line on the network and that they will have a tech come out and rerun my codes through the system and basically restart the network router.I'm suppose to hear something back n upto 72hrs so it may be possible u have same issue as me..

My partner and myself have been having real issues on my DHD and her Desire S with reception on Orange. Lots of times the reception will just die completely for a while before coming back and several instances of going straight to voicemail even though phone doesn't ring.
I've done some testing and noticed that if we change them to GSM only, this doesn't happen and reception stays solid. Only problem is that we then obviously only get basic GPRS when mobile and now 3G and therefore have to switch back to WCDMA.
Anybody else come across this or have some solutions?
Many thanks

what area are you in? I have had trouble with orange in Canary Wharf in the past and it was due to my phone connecting to a mast which wasn't working. So I was connected to 3G, but got no calls, sms or data.. LOL.. 3G at the moment is very unstable at orange and I think it is to do with the merge or something with T-Mobile.
Just contact orange on your area and see if there is anything they can do to sort it out
In Exeter but seem to get it most places I go. I do mean to keep trying the o2 sim from my work iPhone to test the difference.
Never had network issues with o2 and kind of regret moving to Orange but hey ho, done now

My friend and I had same issues with our desires when they came out, both on orange and same symptoms. Like someone replied, we were connecting to a dodgy mast in our area. Switching to gsm all ok. Call orange.

Are Orange likely to be able to do anything though?

Sharing over the T-Mobile Network for 3G is coming very soon in the UK.

From post 279 onwards..
We've got a stock HTC Panache which has some issues. Throughout the day the phone will lose it's connection to the home network (1700Mhz AWS, Wind/Mobilicity, been with both) even though there is good reception, and it will attempt to roam on the 850/1900Mhz Rogers/Fido network.
Since Wind and Mobilicity have roaming within their home zone disabled, the phone is unable to roam, and "Limited Service" is displayed on the handset. Emergency Calls Only, in other words.
A while later, the phone will reconnect to it's home carrier and all is well for a while.
Setting the phone to WCDMA Only has no effect.
Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this issue, and if there is any known way to resolve it. If so, I'm game.
You could root, get S-Off and flash a different radio. It might help.

I could, and it might... but if I kill my gf's phone in the process she will be less than pleased. Since this particular handset has the supposedly bad emmc I figured I'd ask around and see if anyone has been able to resolve the issue before I roll the dice.
How is your luck in life? Lol.
I have the "bad" chip too. I'm on flash one million fourty-two.
Some days I think that if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. lol
Hey, I don't know if this is a device issue or a problem with the carrier but, I've been dropping from 4G to 3G ever since I updated to the 4.4.4 NI2... this has never been an issue in my area before this update with any of the phones I've had. Anyone else having this issue or have any ideas as to why it's happening or how to fix it?
Thanks!
When I first did the update is set my access point name incorrectly, that's in more networks and mobile data.. Check that

I use it but not as my sms app... I've spoken with Verizon and they say it isn't their issue, Samsung said I could send the phone to them but it can't be a hardware issue because it only started after I updated to the NI2 firmware and modem.
So no one else is having this issue then? Cause Verizon is totally at a loss.
Like I said I had this issue when I first did the update but it was a setting in hangouts as my SMS to use a different APN

Verizon is a bunch of clueless idiots. I am seriously regretting my move from t-mobile. Verizon call quality, Bluetooth connections, and customer service are the absolute worse.
I wish I could help, but after doing some research it seems Verizon's poor signal quality and poorly designed networks are the cause of most of my issues. I have gone through two S5's and both are nearly unusable for phone calls. Network speed is the garbage. I am stuck with a pos phone and service for the next two years.
Seems like some kind of update in the area, after over a week I'm starting to hear complaints out of other phone users. Even a friend of mine who'd ranted about how if I had an iPhone 6 I'd still have 4G has now dropped to 3G while I'm starting to see 4G return little by little. It's been speculated that they are prepping for XLTE in my area and that could be the issue... little in the way of definitive explanation though.
Can someone post what there APN settings are, cause I looked around and the settings I see online do not match exactly my settings.
Settings, more networks, access point names. Unfortunately that won't give you any options. In google hangouts, settings, SMS, scroll down to advanced, access point names, that's where I had to change mine.

I'm having this issue here in LA. I chalked it up to the new NI2 modem at first, but I've flashed back and forth with NE9, NHA, and even NCG (original) and still seeing my 4-5 bars of 4G LTE drop mysteriously to 3-4 bars of 3G for no apparent reason. I'm even getting 1x at times. Also, to clarify, this is all while sitting still at my office in downtown LA.
The wall I have hit is simply:
Samsung offered to have me send the phone to them for possible repairs, which means going without my phone for at least 3 to 4 weeks...
Verizon, a corporate employee has confirmed that this is an issue that has been getting brought up more and more and they're working to correct the issue with the next OTA update. The problem is how random this issue is... why are some devices seeing the signal loss and others not?
It's a waiting game at this point.
