Screen protector? - Xperia Play General

Does the xperia play come with one fitted as standard? I read online that it did and when I got mine it looks like theres one on. I got a scrape on my screen (keys in pocket, stupid) and it seems as if that layer doesn't actually come off.
Can anyone confirm if it is removable/replaceable? If not is there anything I can do to get rid of the scrape? It's not that bad tbh but one of the things that gets on your nerves.

It seems xphobic tried to remove the "pre-installed" screen protector and it doesnt seem possible. I installed the spare from the box unsure if the pre-installed one was a screen protector or part of the actual screen.
As far as removing the scrape im not sure what could be done, try googling it. You might just have to install another screen protector. And get a phone case

Touch Screen Malfunction, need HELP!

Good evening... Well recently, i bought a Screen Protector from ShieldZone for my hermes. Well I applied it to the screen and so forth to the rest of my device, then i realized the touch screen doesnt work. I take out the battery for a few minutes, and it starts to work, but after a few seconds, it stops working again. Any suggestions?
This happened when i put my first screen protector on too.. What happened is you put the sticker on to tight; there is an equal pressure over the entire screen , so the processor cannot distinguish your pen touch from the rest of the matrix. All you have to do is take the protector off and reapply it with less force and it should work. (It took a few tries on mine to get it right, did the same thing on my wife's Treo 750.)
well, sounds strange, did you align the screen properly??
Im using a not so costly screen-protector on my hermes without a problem.
Probably u may remove the shieldscreen and make sure dat its not a hardware issue, good luck
yeah i took off the screen protector and still i have the same problem. Anyway i can change the pressure settings?
well,Im not sure about pressure settings but you may try re-aligning the screen (in settings) ,it shud help mostly, hope u have warranty which is not void...
I had the phone unlocked, and I put in the latest Cingular OS, even though i am on the TMOBILE Service.
I have the wierdest thing happen this morning!!! I woke up and turned on my phone, and there is a little smudge in the center of it. Almost like there was a air pocket between the protector and the screen, so i took the protector off, and it was still there!!!!!!!!!!!! So, i pressed down on the little spot and it moves around just like an air bubble would. I turned on my phone to see fi there would be any problems and for some ODD reason, everytime i tap the screen it smushes in that spot. It looks like when you press on the lcd screen of your computer and the pixles kinda move around a little!
Was wondering, I have a Cingular 8525 and would this warrant a repair? Meaning, Could I call them up and tell them what happned and they would send me a replacement?
This is really getting frustrating... I had this phone for only 8 days and its already giving me a headache.

ClearTouch Crystal Screen Protectors - How Do I Remove?

Greets,
I bought the ClearTouch Crystal Screen Protectors for my Tilt. The packaging explains that they are reusable, cleanable, etc. I would assume that they should, in this case, be easy to peel back.
Not so much! I did not properly center the protector, and I would like to remove it and try again. I made an initial (gentle) attempt to remove it, to no avail. I do not want to risk breaking the LCD.
Anyone out there know how to remove the protector?
Thanks!
you have to catch the edge of it. The use to supply a toothpick looking thing that helped, but it's just as easy to use a finger nail to catch the edge and pull up.
The way I did it was to use a piece of tape on the corner. If you don't succeed, use a stronger tape.
Thanks!
Thanks for the advice!
I managed to slip a "SIGN HERE" sticky (non-sticky side) in and pulled it up.
I had installed it incorrectly, not realizing that there is room to slide under the Tilt screen ... it was short, and I needed to realign it.
Any hints (beyond the instructions, which don't really work in this case) on how to get air bubbles out?
Thanks!

I use a credit card to help apply the cover, pushing out air bubbles as I apply the cover.
Credit Card - Thanks
I removed it again and used the credit card to get the bubbles out. Thanks again!

i still got 4 or 5 bubbles spots on my screen...
i am a bit concern now whether removing the screen protectors quite oft will reduce the screen response...
any idea?
I would not think so, but what you can do is this: (i tried to describe as best i could)
Remove the SP, not position the bottom of the SP on the bottom of the screen. Make sure it is straight as how you would want it flat.
Then position a flat stiff card against the bottom of the screen and press down firmly, then lower your screen protector, making sure it is taught by firmly pulling it toward the direction of the top of the phone.
Push your card forward and downward, and there should not be any bubbles appearing anymore.
If it does, try getting a new one and trying again.
The $10 screen protector is nothing compared to your expensive touch screen.
Guys, i need a little advice here.
I bought one of these off ebay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=270190957192&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=017
and received it friday. When i installed the screen protector last night, i discovered, not only was it a bad fit, (ergo i had to carefully remove and trim with a staney knive) but after i got all the bubbles out, my touch screen didnt work!!
Does this surprise anyone here? is there a specific type of film that i should be buying? Ive contact the seller who just seems to think im talking rubbish and even has the ordasity to think i didnt remove the applicating layers from both sides!
*edit* the touch screen works again now ive removed it and reused the one HTC supllied.

Broken Screen on my XV6800

I dropped my XV6800 on a curb yesterday. The picture on the screen is fine, but it looks like the touch screen cracked and now no longer works. The phone won't even let me unlock...don't ask why I locked it after that happened Anyway, I can't do anything with it at all now except receive calls.
What is the cheapest and/or easiest way to fix this? Good source for parts etc..
Thanks!
use mymobiler on computer to unlock and such. But a new touch screen off ebay and put it in.
My Mobiler won't install because I can't unlock the phone to allow it to install. I ordered a screen from eBay.
hmm i didnt know it wouldnt install when locked. Does it go to locked after a restart.
Yeah, that's the first thing I tried.
I've been looking at the instructions on taking it all apart. It is a little bit intimidating, but I suppose I've done worse.
Lots of Screws
I had to replace the screen on mine a while back. It is actually pretty easy. There are just two things to remember
1) There are a lot of screws, remember which order you took them off in and which hole they go into
2) Nothing has to be forced apart, everything has screws or tape holding it. It is okay to take off the tape, and if the tape doesn't go back on it won't hurt anything.
The screen connects to the motherboard by a thin, flat plastic wire. DON"T JUST YANK THE WIRE OUT OF THE CONNECTOR!!!!!!!!! The connector has a little flip up on the end of it that allows the wire in and out.
Good Luck

Open the slide out keyboard and type in the password! I did that one time just to see if it works. This will solve the lock portion.
Well, I got the new touch screen, cleaned the shattered bits out of the old one, cleaned it all up good...changed it out, put it all back together...I must not have gotten the cable seated right.
Also, as for typing my password on the keyboard...no password.
Final update:
I got it to work.

Error Touch Screen delaminating

Ok so I've had a TD2 for 8 months now.
Had it is a soft rubber case for all its life. But my touch screen has started doing funny things. When I try to scroll the screen jumps back to the previous position and when I try and click on a button it doesn't recognize it.
Then I had a look at the So I thought it was the protective layer on the screen so I removed it only to find that the there is a thin line of oily like fluid under the glass of my phone. I think this is screen delamination.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?
Know how criminal the Cell companies are in my country this will never be under warranty.
Does any have any thoughts for me. I'm going to try take it back. Though I have hardSPL the phone.. so not sure what the right steps are to change it back.
hello.
yesterday i ripped off genuine protective layer too. when tried to scroll, had strange reaction- view jumped in oposite to scroll direction. after longer inspection, under protection film, discovered ?condensated? water, so ripped shield and reattached again. worked for few minutes, and after needed to repeat same procedure again. after few rippofs- edges of film doesn't cling any more, so i trow out this film. without film device works very well, and now i think about:
1. buy cheap protective films in 10-20 packs;
2. buy expensive/very strong protection film (do not remember name, know from advertisement- usa military uses)
3. do not use protection at all.
For weak or two, i'll try working without protection. Working with stylus ~3 hours per day (usualy reading books), without stylus (answering call's, copying files, chating, browsing internet, etc), keeping in pocket without keys .
today discovered that same splashes of liquid without protective film. they where smaller and disapeared when i slightly squized phone sides.
You all have collapsed your screen.
The oily film under the screen is referred to as newton rings.
Search for "Topaz screen replacement".
A quick fix is to stick duct tape to it and try to seperate the layers.
If you have HSPL and wish to return it under warranty, you must flash your original ROM then flash stock SPL, however they will not cover the screen and will charge you for the repair anyway.
Thanks Guys
Well I took it in ... and we'll see.
Just a little bummed I really looked after that phone well... little too expensive to replace every 8 months...
Anyway

HTC Trophy Screen Defect

I've noticed a defect on my screen, it looks like a watermark, as if the glass hasn't been coated correctly.
I took the phone back to the shop today and swapped it for another which has the same issue (although not so severe). It's most noticable when the screen is off in bright light.
I'm waiting for new stock to arrive Friday but in the meantime has anyone else noticed this problem?
Nope. Everything fine here. (Or at least I can't find anything )
Ah great, I was thinking it was just me.
I can see it in mine too, around the borders of the glass and especially around the windows button. It mostly shows up when there's fingerprints on the glass, you can see a distinct lighting change around the affected areas.
I'll try to get a picture of it.
Ah ok, found it.
But I don't think that this is a defect or sth.,
My guess: These areas lipophobic? Maybe there was some glue on it? Some you won't see any fingerpints on these areas. This would eplain why you can't see them when there are no fingerprints on the screen.
No big deal for me tough.
I don't think it's glue. It looks like a screen coating.
I've tried removing it with both isopropyl alcohol and thinners and neither would touch it.
I thought it was a plastic cover to peel off - but no
Me too, I thought it was a plastic cover to peel off - but no it does not peel off, i have air gaps under the edges on 3 sides - and the largest is under the htc screen logo :-(
Me too - one long finger top left and some other places bottom and side
pretty sure its some sort of glue residue - you can feel a slight change in resistance
can see it easily by blowing on glass - seems to resist condensation
looks just like screen has been given a quick wipe to clean and they've missed a couple of bits top and bottom.
tried screen wipes and opitcal wipes but no effect
Me too
Recieved mine yesterday, immediately noticed the effect. All along the bottom by the buttons, and along the the left hand side.
Looks like 2 layers didn't completely bond perhaps? The glass and whatever provides the black background.
Tim
me as well, ill upload a video of mine in half an hour, its pretty bad on mine, most of the time it isn't visible. and yeah resistance on that area is different when i rub my thumb hard over the screen it is smooth, but over those droplet like parts there is friction..im guessing that most of my screen is coated and those bits are mistakenly not.
(i thought it was the other way round before)
VIDEO OF SCREEN DEFECT-VIMEO
Same issue here - like an air bubble just beneath the surface of display. My device is slightly affected across the top edge, which is not so bad, but there is a large blob just below the windows key along the bottom edge which is a little distracting. Shame it looks like HTC shipped with such a widespread product defect, as this appears it could be.
Am also finding GPS very flaky - location services more often then not just don't work.
Still, very impressed with WP7. Think HTC could do better ... am wondering what the Samsung is like and what the Venue Pro will be like. Tempted to switch!
same issue here. seems all devices have this feature ...
ps: today in the office i checked again the screen and found out that you can find this bubbles around the screen everywhere. seems it reacts on humidity. strange ...
I've been back to the Vodafone store today as they had received new stock. Both handsets we looked at had the same issue.
The manager at the store said that HTC were going to be issuing a recall and that they were aware of the problem.
I am awaiting a call regarding an alternate replacement.
Ok for me!
same here, especially around bottom left corner, around the left arrow.
I noticed when you wipe the screen hard it disappears, but after a few touches of the screen it appears again.
I wrote to the HTC also and waiting for the reply :
same here - allaround the screen

i think everyone have this problem, specilly from vodafone. and i also have software issue, everytime after using the marketplace, and the icon of some apps were gone, and no preview of the pictures. also the apps download from marketplace not seems to be running, after long time use.....already retun the phone to vodafone, and waiting for the issue to be solved...
My screen is ok. Well, not really oké. Since they didn't put a slcd on it, but a worser screen... Luckily no bubbles. I checked it 1000s times in all kind of lights and darknesses and with and without finger prints. But no bubbles here.
Same problem !!!
I have the same Problem (Austria, A1)
HTC Trophy
