Motorola solution like SE - Atrix 4G General

Sony Ericsson just launched a website to unlock the bootloader on there latest phones.
Didn't Motorola promise a bootloader solution. Do you think it will end up like this? When will this happen?

One word.... never.
Motorola has already shown their true colors on the matter.
They're siding with the carriers and blocking as much access to the phone as they can.

They promised a solution. Forum manager swears up and down they're working on it..
I think they just said it to shut us up.

Forcing the SE team to let the bootloader be open.

We all march towards the SE talk forum and spam and ***** and attack as hard as we can.

Putting pressure on SE to unlock it.
Since there is no further support for the phone.
Question...what makes you think that would work? how would *****ing and moaning on their site make them unlock it?
Just because the smaller minority who want to mod there phones want the bootloader unlocked doesnt mean SE will. The majority of phone users dont care about it as a phones a phone in their eyes
So SE wont unlock it

What's with "Since there is no further support for the phone"
Can you tell me where did you get this from?
as I know, the support is still available, but no futher OS upgrades. Big difference mate
Good luck to you.
But honestly, I'd rather you use the time to do something meaningful like volunteering work instead. -_-
so what would this acheive guys? im new to this and am wondering what we could do with our phones if they unlocked the bootloader?

Hmmm maybe not. Try asking someone from Sweden to take a spray can, go to the Company and do a 'Give us your bootlader!' graffiti on the front door and see if they can still ignore your pleas.
Hurhurhur.

Or just tell them you'll never buy another sony phone again, since all new product will have the bootloader locked the same way (Think about it before you upgrade! the Sony xperia ARC will use the same bootloger lock).
So Xperia ARC is just hum .............................a no go...
End of story. (or not..., it's up to SE)
HTC here i come =)!
You are right, my next upgrade will be a HTC for sure.
htc thunderbolt looks pretty awesome
GOod try We speak out
Please no flamming ... SE may have other reasons for not releasing Bootloader
1. I am not a fan of SE and NO my next phone will NOT be SE.
2. If SE indeed uses the same/similar bootloader for smartphones, playstation and more importantly for medical and security equipment they sell it will be irresponsible of them to release the code.
3. If they do get convinced that a significant percentage of their customer base will get eroded if they don't treat the market right .. that might work!

Got my 1st C&D today.

Wow Motorola really doesn't like people messing with there phones. I've hosted TONS of SGS stuff never a peep from Samsung.

Ask him if he has any uncapped HSUPA as well...
The Motorola Solutions division is the same way with their software for their two-way radios. They guard it like a hawk and are quick to sue like the RIAA.
On that note, we should send a similar letter indicating that we are the sole owners of the phones in our possession and that they need to return the unlocked bootloader and HSUPA that they stole from us.

That's actually an interesting stance. I wrote them on Twitter and I'm sure they won't reply to me.
Good thing I got RSD Lite 5.0 and the SBF before a lot of sites took them down due to copyright violations.
This would be bad news for devs trying to crack the bootloeader as im sure CCD letters would be issues out

Yup this would be the smart thing to do.
How big is the RSDLite file? I need it. Can someone direct me to where I can download it from pls??
I have finished downloading the SBF. Can someone PM me regarding obtaining a download of RSDLite? I need to download it, but unable to find it online anymore.
UPDATE: Nevermind someone point me to the download of RSDLite. It's still online, just needed to select a different file host site.

Don't be a tool Pixo. I know darned well who's keeping HSUPA from Atrix owners. I also know who it is that locked the bootloader which keeps devs from enabling HSUPA on both at&t AND Bell.
Look at the HTC Inspire...HSUPA was crippled by at&t but HTC didn't lock it down so it was easily enabled by those in the know. Same with the Samsung Captivate.
Since it's Motorola's policy to lock all bootloaders, I feel the blame falls mainly on them.

Gingerbread for the Atrix(not trolling)

So i just called in to att trying to get a credit for my gimped phone, i didn't get a credit sadly but i did get some interesting info.
First and probably the coolest, the guy told me that att does plan on releasing gingerbread for the atrix before the end of Q3 as well as the boot loader unlock. The second thing he told me is that att doesn't plan on allowing side-loading and he said its not looking like the amazon app store, however they aren't holding it against people that are figuring out a way to side load.
Anyways it is what it is but its some info, he also seemed rather shocked that the boot loader wasn't cracked yet, dunno why though when i pressed him he shut up about it.
Q3?! Wow, that is still some time away :/
By that time, most likely Ice Cream will be out already...
interesting info about the bootloader as well... so it should not be that difficult? Hmm...
Interesting no doubt... I think they will have a way to unlock at the sacrifice of your warranty.

Yeah, end of Q3 for AT&T is September, I just checked (they run a Jan - Dec fiscal year). That's a super long time away for something that's already been in work since before the phone was released (based on the engineering build in the Android development forum).

it is a art
2.4 will more than likely not be called ice cream it'll still be call gingerbread. And what the guy said goes along with what the australian guy posted in his thread about motorola giving a bootloader solution similar to what the xoom has but it would be up to the discretion of the carrier if they'd allow it or not and that it would all happen in the ladder part of 2011. But to hear it from att rep is interesting but I don't hold my breathe
http://m.pocketnow.com/android/motorola-promises-android-bootloader-unlock-in-late-2011 maybe the rep just read this and said att was gonna do it... you know how this reps are
thats just my 2 cents

Now that is what true trolling is. If you frequent 4chan enough, you'll be able to tell quite quickly who's trolling and who's srs.
I'm sure that someone from at&t told you they were unlocking the bootloader for real. I mean, they won't let us sideload apps but they will unlock that bootloader for us no problem. Makes total sense.

There may be some contractual issue with a 3rd party that is preventing AT&T from "giving" us sideloading, such as a conflict with an AT&T partner and Amazon for example, so it may make sense to not allow it, although they know fully it's going to happen in any event. I think unlocking the bootloader is what's important. The community has enabled pretty much everything else, including sideloading. I do agree though, it's kind of a contradiction.

based on how much these service people actually know, i'm betting they are talking out of their ass. I'm sure he is basing it off of the HTC devices they sell, which are rather easy to meddle with. Since AT&T has never sold a motorola android device before, if they didn't research before speaking, they would have no idea. I'm 100% sure motorola has not told the AT&T service reps how the bootloader works and how to break it.

I had an AT&T rep tell me that also.
Q3 or september 11 is 5 months away. In this case, I will rather start looking for other options, such as HTC Sensation, or GSII.
I wish Gingerbread comes to Atrix Soon as well, as 2.2.1 is a real pain. Also once you get spoiled by the newest and greatest android version available, its real dumb and hard to get back to older one... :-(

AT&T has had:
Backflip
Flipside
Flipout
Bravo
Of those four prior to the Atrix, only the Bravo is worth anything. And it got upgraded to 2.2 recently.
Once the bootloader gets unlocked I'm sure we will have a gingerbread port a lot sooner than October. I'm really hoping for a CM7 port!

hope its true, fingers crossed... i am so excited
I hope you guys get it.
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
It would be about damn time!
wha..........................
I just heard about this on another forum i'm on.
The only bad thing about the atrix is blur. Its about time they ditch it.
Don't bet on it. The leaked RC does not have an unlocked bootloader.
We will know when the soak test starts what we are actually getting.
Motorola has not said nothing about release dates. It does appear it will be this month though by activities on the Moto forums.
Also, the unlock being shown appears to be Pudding given the timeframe, which as we all know is not from AT&T or Motorola.
This link is a month old, and speculation at best, and also it appears misinterpretation of Briefmobile.

i dont see how ATT has anything to do with it when motorola is selling atrix phones all over the world with locked boot loaders. is ATT able to dictate to carriers in europe to not have an open BL? point is, its motorola's own doing and nobody else's.

Petition for unlocked bootloader

Help us by signing the petition to achieve 7500 signatures.

Well, asking that in a Xoom forum is kinda pointless, since the Xoom's bootloader can be unlocked in under a minute using standard SDK tools (ADB & Fastboot).
Neverthless, Motorola has been kinda of a pain in the butt by making it really hard to unlock BL in other devices (like the Razr - XT910).

But is there a corporation that does this across the board? Aside from promises, of course.
