Forcing the SE team to let the bootloader be open. - XPERIA X10 General

We all march towards the SE talk forum and spam and ***** and attack as hard as we can.
http://talk.sonyericsson.com/community/support/xperiahome/xperia?view=discussions
Putting pressure on SE to unlock it.
Since there is no further support for the phone.

Question...what makes you think that would work? how would *****ing and moaning on their site make them unlock it?
Just because the smaller minority who want to mod there phones want the bootloader unlocked doesnt mean SE will. The majority of phone users dont care about it as a phones a phone in their eyes
So SE wont unlock it

What's with "Since there is no further support for the phone"
Can you tell me where did you get this from?
as I know, the support is still available, but no futher OS upgrades. Big difference mate

Good luck to you.
But honestly, I'd rather you use the time to do something meaningful like volunteering work instead. -_-

so what would this acheive guys? im new to this and am wondering what we could do with our phones if they unlocked the bootloader?

Hmmm maybe not. Try asking someone from Sweden to take a spray can, go to the Company and do a 'Give us your bootlader!' graffiti on the front door and see if they can still ignore your pleas.

Or just tell them you'll never buy another sony phone again, since all new product will have the bootloader locked the same way (Think about it before you upgrade! the Sony xperia ARC will use the same bootloger lock).
So Xperia ARC is just hum .............................a no go...
End of story. (or not..., it's up to SE)
HTC here i come =)!

You are right, my next upgrade will be a HTC for sure.

htc thunderbolt looks pretty awesome

GOod try We speak out

Please no flamming ... SE may have other reasons for not releasing Bootloader
1. I am not a fan of SE and NO my next phone will NOT be SE.
2. If SE indeed uses the same/similar bootloader for smartphones, playstation and more importantly for medical and security equipment they sell it will be irresponsible of them to release the code.
3. If they do get convinced that a significant percentage of their customer base will get eroded if they don't treat the market right .. that might work!

Xperia x10 Multi-touch and updates after 2.1

Hey guys,
I guess I'd share this with you.
I sent a mail to SE asking them about a more specific explanation regarding the multi-touch function. I also asked them about if they plan to keep updating the Xperia after 2.1.
What they said in reply to the multi touch part is that the X10 handset does not support the MT feature.
"This requires two layers of the capacity screen for this feature to be added succesfully which the handset does not have. The handset only has one layer of capacitive touch screen."
I don't know about the technical stuff, so maybe somebody over here can confirm this.
Their reply to the update part was that they haven't got any further information regarding any other updates until after the release of the Android 2.1 update. So it is still a guess.
What they did say is that 2.1 will be released in the UK before the end of September. So it is indeed several weeks away, if they are telling the truth.
These subjects are getting annoying now i understand that MT is a feature that lots of people want but my question to these people is why didnt u buy a phone with MT in the first place now for the 2.1 update we know its coming very soon so just be patient its not that big a deal i love my x10 and if it wasnt getting 2.1 id still love it also as for updates after 2.1 y dnt u just wait and see we aint got 2.1 yet and ur already thinking about whats gonna happen after that anyway thats just my thoughts

how about dual touch? does it require 2 layers of the capacity screen as well?
maybe we will get the missing layer by mail.
then we will have multitouch.

I believe a lot of people thought the lack of MT was probably due to 1.6 rather then SE deciding not to put in the hardware to support it. Who could blame them when devices from other companies had hardware support for MT well before the X10 came out. I bet a lot of people who bought the X10 were told that MT would be available with a software upgrade, hell even SE's US web site says the X10 has multi-touch.
I would love to know what the reasoning was behind not adding MT support. Was it SE saying we can get these hi res non MT screens for cheap, that no one wants & put them in our flagship Android device? If that is the case it makes me wonder if SE isn't on life support & desperate to cut corners anywhere they can to save money.

The lawsuit stuff may be a reason not to include MT but that could be accomplished through software. If I was working at SE I would have included the hardware support & at least left the door open to turning on the support later. Doing it this way just makes SE look cheap IMO.
I don't find MT a very useful feature but one that doesn't get in my way when doing other things, so I'm indifferent to it.
I agree with others there is no need to have all these different threads all talking about MT.

So kittens are killed hm? I don't care about that.
If it were puppies... but it's only about kittens
Even though it's worthless making a fuzz about it, since it doesn't change **** to the hardware of the x10 or SE implementing it sooner if possible.
Having that said, it is a disgrace that SE after almost 5 months since the release of the experia still dares to put up a big lie on their US website claiming the X10 does support multitouch. Such a thing is not an accident, the're not complete morrons at SE, it is purposely put there to mislead consumers into believing they are gonna be buying multitouch devices.
I'm really happy with my x10, but I find it a bit embarracing the way SE deals with information about the features and softwareupdates/bugfixes (like poor volume).
I think the people who care the most are those porn addicts who like to pinch and zoom the naked "whatever."
Please no more Kitten killings. Oops, I just did that.

Why is HTC protecting wildfire so much

After the release of the wildfire it took a unusual amount of time to root and now the hboot has been changed to prevent rooting I ask the question why the consumer should have the right to run roms that suits them best I refer to geohotz jailbreak with the iPhone

yeah i agree, they want to sell you newer devices with new android versions. they must also be pretty mad about the hacked app markets
Its the solemn duty p) of a company to protect its products. No product I believe has a weak security system, and, its always a cat and mouse game between the devs and the company devs. Be it iOS, Symbian, Game Consoles.. etc.
No one likes to see their product "hacked" and to be used in a manner better than it was intended to.
As far as I know the Nokia N900 and LiMo devices are very open to hacking, very much unlike Android, webOS and iOS phones.
Why would anyone protect their properties
Also maybe cos they were planning for Gingerbread release on the Wildfire, and by then they want all devices to be hackproof or something.. jus maybe..

Exactly, their cash flows in from the devices they sell. If they support old products, they won`t sell new devices, so no cash.

But if they wouldn't lock the wildfire, the chance of getting your device bricked will be lower in my oppinion. The chance that a procedure fails is directly correlated with the amount of steps, and just because the phone is that locked, people have to do 1. a multitude of steps that 2. don't use software of the phone in the way its develloped to be used -> chance to brick your phone.
Compare it to a computer: ever bricked it because you wanted to install an new OS?
Erwin
That is true
Now, I want to change the phone, because I can't flash rom.
I think HD2 is a good.
HTC is not protecting wildfire so much.

there are Atrix haters as well as moto haters, i've debated and well as read comments from quite a few of them, but people that have the wrong attitude and give up so easily on the phone ain't helping at all(or people that never had the phone to begin with), but i understand some people have their needs or wants in a phone and the atrix may not be it for them, but don't bash it just because you may not like it, never even owned it but have negative comments about it, have a defective device or whatever, and no i'm not saying that YOU have done any of this, but i'm tired of seeing it.....
but back to what this topic is actually about, hopefully this topic catches the devs attention
sooo.. ignoring the differences in architecture between omap and tegra, were the two bootloaders secured in the same fashion?> signed? signed and locked? locked?

Hey Omega,
My thoughts exactly, "awsome", what a way to go just a shame Sony can,t get there heads round treating it's customers right, i looked into the Arc, if i buy one i can unlock the bootloader, but then you read on its at the exspense of throwing away your warranty, they give with one hand and take with the other, i'm just thankful i only bought a phone from them and they never had my bank details.
For sure this is the best phone out with all that tech! 1.2 dual core, 1080p recoreding, 8mp camera, dnla, super amoled plus, gyroscope etc etc. It has a very impressive tech list and what I really like is how Samsung are sending it to cyanogenmod, possibley to remove the touch wiz ui and bring it closer to a native android feel or perhaps cyanogemod have something of their of own planned espicially for this ;-)
My only concearn and thing stopping me from rushing and buying one right now, is this phone ugly? I just find the general looks to be uninspiring and under stated. It just looks like bigger version of the iPhone.
I know that's quite a big contrast in my own opinion but if a phone like this existed but with arc looks or had game controls like a play then definately I'd be rushing out to get it now. I just feel Samsung should if made this phone pretty like our x10's which I reckon is still up their in best looking android phones.

I think with all smart phones once you root your phone you violate your warranty, with Sony and the arc you have to give your IMIE number to unlock the bootloader, this then signs away your warranty for good there is no return buddy.
EDIT... AND here's the answer it already comes rooted and with warranty.

Well, you don't have to unlock the bootloader to root the arc.
And I just read through some reviews of the Galaxy S2 but none of them mentioned that it's shipped pre-rooted. I believe the online store you mentioned above rooted the phone before selling it to its consumers; perhaps the warranty it mentions is from them, not Samsung.

So just having the Arc rooted is going to release the full potential of that phone, don't think so buddy, just look whats happening to our x10 with the custom kernels around now.
What differance does it make who covers the warranty at least its got one unlike your Arc if you unlock the bootloader.
Lastly, as you have now got our best Dev over in the Arc forum, Jerpelea, you will miss out greatly if you do not unlock your bootloader, freexperia will live on in the Arc.

What you on about dude, read again, where do i say you have to unlock the bootloader to root the arc, its obvious as you have a arc that you are a fanboy and its that good you are here in a x10 forum, Sony do not give you nothing and never will, you have a company like samsung selling phones with the bootloader already unlocked and it kicks the ass off sony, to many cutomers have been and still are being let down by sony, only time will tell if they will ever change but i can't see it.
Thanks for the discussion, good luck with your arc but i not be following you to your forum for sure, not now i know if i want to use a arc and have the bootloader unlocked i sign away my warranty. The post was merely saying Samsung are leading the way, what i do not understand is why is not sony??
Design of SE + Hardware of Samsung + Sense of HTC = prefect phone ever!!!

I think with all smart phones once you root your phone you violate your warranty, with Sony and the arc you have to give your IMIE number to unlock the bootloader, this then signs away your warranty for good there is no return buddy.
EDIT... AND here's the answer it already comes rooted and with warranty.

Yea it only comes rooted because "On The Go Solutions" has rooted it for you.
It does not come pre-rooted with warranty from Samsung. So you would rely on the warranty that On The Go Solutions provide.

personally I don't really like Sense. I found the X10's UX, and now the Arc's UX was very nice and clean, but had shortcomings like lag and 5 homescreen limit. I don't really like Sense's theme.

But your missing the simple point - It's still got warranty and say like our x10 you only have to flash with seus and its back to stock, with the arc you sign away your warranty with your imie number, its not rocket science to know which phone you would choose is it.

No multi touch for x10

I contacted sony ericsson a few days ago and they contacted the global. They have now corrected their website and issued an apology. As this was only for the new line of xperias. The comment is on page 2.

Phillip says
Wow, really great news for us users of the X10, I thought 2011 would be clean in my X10.
Sony just to clarify this with my X10 MultiTouch will recognize more than TWO simultaneous touch right? Much better than the current DualTouch we have today.
SE Congratulations!!

Answer
Hello Felipe, okay? The multitouch feature on devices equipped with Xperia line Android 2.3 supports four simultaneous touches on the screen.
A hug.

Hi Philip. Unfortunately, contrary to what reported in the Android 2.3 update for the X10 win dual touch. We apologize for the mistake, because we just validate the information with Sony Ericsson. Support for four rings is present in the new line of business, including neo Xperia models, and Play arc.
A hug.
NOW. i'm pissed off.
I was too. When he said that I got so pissed. I mean at least give us improved dual touch. Jeez

That SE hates the x10 and all it's users?
The worst thing is the hardware does not limit us.
If it was the touch pad then it would only make axis bugs if fingers were to cross.
In this case you don't even have to cross your fingers.
It just does it randomly and if you cross axis's.
It's just to make games that use dual directional controls useless.
SCREW YOU SE, SCREW YOU TO HELL.

I think i'm going to go lie down and calm my self.
I just hope Z can figure out some way to get the MT chip flashed.

It took them a entire month to correct false information on a website.
A ENTIRE MONTH.
It's more like false advertising than anything else.
I know right. It makes me mad I even asked them and provided them the website to report to global Sony. But I guess its better than being dissapointed

You guys can not be serious about beeing mad your not getting 4 point MT!?? SE already went way longer with this phone then originally planned, they said before release it was going to get 2.1, no more. And that it was a single touch phone, no more.. SE has done everything to please all the whiners out there (read in here)!! If you want the latest and greatest, BUY A NEW PHONE YOU CHEEP PRICKS! I´m happy with what my X10 has become. It's alot more phone then i paid for initially. OH, you guys still belive every word that pops out from SE Brazil? haha, thats funny
go ahead, bash me, go ahead and whine, please do, if it makes you feel better! Or grow up!

There is no excuse to disable a good feature.
Or make a device uncomfortable to use. <<"it does not reflect well"
Unless it is for the money.
Why are you calling us pricks anyway? let me guess you have disposable income.
Also the phone was not cheap. but SE is.

What the hell?
Before this turns into a flamewar, I want to tell you:How are you sure that our device can even do multitouch at all??? The Nexus One, Desire all have the same buggy dualtouch we do, why should ours be different? How do you know that it's 'disabled', and not a hardware limitation, like it was in 2009?
You are just finding reasons to vent out your frustration on SE. You and Lion have whined about the update throughout this post, because of what? I NEVER trusted SE Brazil, these third world country company outlets more often than not don't know what they're saying, and are known to spread misinformation. If you guys took all the news with a grain of salt you wouldn't be dissapointed.
I've seen how you post in the forum. You are paranoid and critical of every small fault in this device. Just relax and be happy with what you get instead of being so angry all the time, you're also one of the catalysts of many flame wars because of your never ending quest to preach hatred towards SE. The disposable income comment was completely unnecessary. I also have disposable income. What are you trying to imply? See how you easily start flame wars?
@Lion. 'All that we are getting is camera'. Is that all? How about Gingerbread, facebook inside xperia, a new UI, and a lot of new apps? What else do you want?
Goddamnit people are hard to please. They take everyone's words for everything then get angry when it doesn't happen. They want more and more and more. At least be happy SE is giving us Gingerbread, instead of leaving us stuck with crappy 2.1.
