doesn't matter for me I just went with the Inspire (desire hd) (whatever you want to call it) but I just noticed while shopping for accessories the Seidio has a seperate category for an upcoming Atrix on Verizon
um ok I haven't posted enough to put a direct link so here

not certain if that is a mistake but I haven't seen anything else about it if it is true.
it's a mistake. there is absolutely no chance of a CDMA atrix in its current form. that would defeat the purpose of the droid bionic.

I wouldnt say NO CHANCE of a CDMA atrix - the hardware already supports it (read the ifixit tear down)
http://xedapdiahinh.com/2011/03/17/rumor-motorola-atrix-and-xoom-headed-to-sprint-4g-next-month/
But I would agree that it is unlikey to be on Verizon natively.
I wouldnt be surprised if the bionic is just a re named atrix - less ram and no webtop are only real differences... it is already said that a bionic fits in an atrix dock.

It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Motorola probably has a lot of docks (laptop dock, multimedia dock, etc.) they would like to sell but more than likely it is referring to a Sprint Atrix which has been brought up in another thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997354
Even if they did bring the same device it wouldn't actually be the same device (Dif radio) and it would probably get a new name.

there is no way seidio would know anything about an as-of-yet nonexistent device before any other outlet (tech blogs, leakers, etc). i chalk it up to a typo.

I don't know. Manufacturers of accessories usually can have a decent head start on upcoming devices. Just look at the iPhone 4 and the iPad2. Case makers had designs out for those a couple months ahead of time. Granted, the Atrix is no iPhone or iPad in terms of anticipated release, but they might have an idea. Plus, "leakers" sell info to accessory companies for monetary gain, otherwise why would they do it?
They might have the right idea in assuming a CDMA version, just the wrong carrier:

FCC filings have a curious tendency to launch us into far-reaching bouts of speculation, but hear us out -- we think we're onto something here. A Samsung phone with model number GT-i9023 just passed the FCC with AWS 3G -- T-Mobile's band. If the outline of the device above looks familiar, it should; it looks exactly like the Nexus S, which happens to have a suspiciously similar model number of GT-i9020.
Here's where it gets interesting, though: German site BestBoyZ just reported a video of a Nexus S in the wild a few days ago that claimed to be running the rumored Android 2.4 release, and the baseband version in the About screen included the text "i9023." This new model number also just very recently received both Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG certification, though there's nothing particularly interesting in those filings. Oh, and one other random tidbit: a number of European retailers are listing the i9023 already as a "Black Silver" Nexus S, so it's possible that this will simply be a new color scheme -- but would that really necessitate a new FCC filing and model number? It's also conceivable that Samsung is taking the occasion of 2.4's release as an opportunity to tweak the Nexus S a bit -- maybe add HSPA+ for T-Mobile, something to that effect -- but at this point, it's pure speculation on our part. Feel free to drop your conspiracy theories in comments, and while you're at it, check out BestBoyZ's video after the break.
Note: The Vibrant 4G is a good thought, but this device seems too rounded -- it matches up perfectly with the Nexus S.

I was excited until i read the AWS part. Was so hoping it mentioned ATT compatible bands. Sigh..
Well.. I feel your pain, Phonex1.
But as a T-Mobile Nexus S user.. I'm highly upset because of this. Even though it might be speculation on Engadget's part, I usually trust their word. And even the idea that Samsung would do this is upsetting as well.
Soooo...
Samsung has held back 2.3 from the Nexus One to help sales of the Nexus S
Samsung is holding back 2.2 from the Vibrant to help with sales of the Vibrant Plus
Samsung now going to hold back 2.4 from the Nexus S to help sales of the Nexus S Plus?
History indicates yes
Hmm...looks like I may be returning a phone.
edit: This may just be the SLCD version of the phone. Even if it's not coming to the US they still run it through FCC approval.
I just noticed in that video, that nexus s looks mighty thick when he turns it slightly.....Nexus S w/keyboard anyone?
I won't lie.. I am really upset right now. I feel like throwing this phone and screaming out Samsung in a dramatic way. It's so frustrating I wanna laugh too.. lol.

Quote from our Tipster:
Some disturbing things have happened the last week or so concerning our “Vibrant”. Samsung has NOT allowed us to push the update OTA for 2.2 because they feel it will decrease the value of the upcoming Vibrant4G +. While from a marketing aspect i totally understand, as the Vibrant 4G is what the original Vibrant should have been in the 1st place. But to shun off and bold face lie to customers is NOT what T-Mobile is about.
…Being that, Vibrant 4G and Vibrant have exactly same stats, added FFC and a new movie and the 4G. But i will tell you this, the original vibrant CAN utilize 4G FULLY. Yes FULLY. not what they are telling you.

Hopefully Google will learn and broker a partnership with another company (preferably HTC) instead of Samsung. They already confirmed the random reboot issue with the NS; such refreshing news after SGS complaints lol.
Remember that "slap in the face" many said Samsung/Google would never commit by releasing some sort of refreshed Nexus S2 or Nexus S+? ... Well, my face is getting ready.

I don't see what people are getting upset about. Who cares if there is a different color Nexus S coming out, and there is no mention that there will anything added to this version over what we have. If the only change is color and maybe SLCD screen then who cares? Wait, don't the euro NS already have SLCD? Either way, I highly doubt Google will be releasing a new Nexus phone before the end of the summer, especially with just an incremental update to 2.4. Even if they added HSPA+ that would not be enough to release a Nexus S Plus.

It's probably just a Nexus S variant then that adds nothing new, like the Desire was for the Nexus One. Either way, I don't think google will be releasing this phone, Samsung will. I'll stick with my Google "dev phone".
Samsung seems to be trying to showoff as the biggest evil in cellular industry now. Stopping firmware updates (even on devices thought to be immune from this) and releasing similar devices. I bet by the end of the year Samsung haters >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Apple haters

I'd still prefer this Google Nexus S without HSPA+ (all speculation) over a Samsung Nexus S variant and tmobile printed all over it and slow updates. The networks can not handle a full 21Mbps or even half of that yet. My buddies download speeds on his g2 are barely better than mine. Once the network can achieve more I'll be perfectly happy maxing out my 7Mbps, and by then I'll probably own the Nexus dual core with HSPA+ anyway.
Hopefully some concrete info will come out soon... got till Feb 1. before my 30 days are up.

Oh god don't let it be a collapsible 3screen android phone.
hopefully it will be the next flagship device announcement. android or not im curious to see what it is!
They'll probably have David Blaine and Chris Angel matching up in a "first one to blink, loses" contest. Sounds very exciting!
Probably a phone made by RCA or GPX, some BS off brand "industry first" again
Could be the Playbook, or the successor to the Evo.
This is the first year I'm not chomping at the bit for a new flagship. My Evo has continued to do everything I need and it's not really showing its age like my last few smart phones did after a year.
This summer I might save my $200 to put toward a tablet or something else. HTC has that cool looking tablet on the way with a pen for notes and drawing but I dunno if I would get one since it would probably lose all that cool stuff without a Sense ROM. I'll keep an eye out for the tablets from Asus, Vizio, Viewsonic, etc. with specs like a Xoom or iPad 2 but at a lower cost. If I can find a nice Android tab with Xoom-ish specs and no data plan closer to $400-500 I may finally pull the trigger on a tablet.
Hell, if someone ports Honeycomb to the G-Tablet, I might pick one up immediately. It's got similar specs to a Xoom (minus GPS I think) but only costs $400. Get Honeycomb on that thing and it's mine.
Yeah, I might skip this round too, as long as the cyanogen mod team keeps developing for the Evo, I'm good.
Even though I switched to the Atrix, I still got 3 sprint lines with one available for an upgrade. So I'm looking forward to see what Sprint has up their sleeves.
I read somewhere but I can't remember for sure where that the HTC Merge was supposedly going to all carriers...do anyone think that Sprint will be releasing that?
Uggh, I don't need to want another phone. The only way I would switch now is if sprint decided to leave my area out of 4G and do nothing about the terrible 3G signal. Then I would switch carriers.

Nah you think too much of Sprint. This announcement will be a phone from Coby.
Got a hunch it will be the BB Playbook and that it will run Android apps as the rumor supposedly states. That will be the innovation. Also being the first 4G tablet on the market. Since the Xoom won't have it's hardware update until after CTIA.

And if there are no consequences for screwing up, there's no reason to improve.
Of course, the real question is WHY they had a loss. I obviously think they've screwed up plenty of times - see the lack of Euro Xoom updates and locked bootloaders in phones - but it's hard to say how much effect those particular choices had. There are also lots of boring and simple reasons for a loss, like business restructuring or increased product costs.
Motorola was ahead of Apple http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROKR_E1 but was never able to make an impact like Apple did. This shows a lack of vision and leadership. The Xoom again is light years ahead of the Ipad in my opinion in terms of HW, but still cannot shake the ipad in terms of market penetration. Last night I was watching the HP tablet add... the key point they made was ..oh we can play flash! sounds silly to us, but my friend (non-geek) was excited saying finally he can watch those foreign language movies on that website which use flash...
Xoom was priced at $600, it did not have a working micro SD solution but now other Android Tablets are coming I think it is kind of late.
For Android in general Motorola has and continues to be too slow releasing upgrades. In Canada in MAY !!! the upgrade to 3.1 !!! is coming soon !!!! it is August. Here is a clue, soon means tomorrow or even later in the week NOT MONTHS !!!! They get Canada 3.1, then so what the latest version is 3.2 it is such a thing that stops any sane person from buying Motorola.
For Android Phones MOTOblur nobody wants it but Motorola
We can't even get 3.2 on our 3g Xoom.....so when ICS comes out we are going to be the last to get it..but this is not just moto Verizon has their hands in that part. But I believe moto should push Verizon if not to just keep us happy but they dont
I think we, by that I mean the XDA and hardware enthusiast, only represent a fraction of Moto's or any other hardware developers sales. The average person probably doesn't realize they haven't received the 3.2 update much less that ICS is in the pike.
Yes I am sure they are aware of us and we are important to them but by no means are we the majority.
When the Xoom finally released Moto was already at work on the next device and the next beyond that.
They don't put much of their resources into supporting a device that has already sold. They want you to buy the next one. Unfortunately building relationships seems to be a thing of the past.
Just my two cents worth.

Till the photon 4g forums gets set up. I hear its going to be within the week. I figured it couldn't hurt to have a spot where EVO owners like myself who decided to pick up the Photon 4g can discuss there thoughts and comments comparing the 2 phones. so prospective EVO owners who want to switch can see what we think. I know when i was searching for this info before i got mine today, I couldn't find much. I will try to post something of a comparison after i get this thing fully set up and I've had some sleep.
Good luck all and tear this thing up!

Am I the only one that absolutely hates the pentile display? It looks like grainy pixelated garbage... I've played extensively with Evo 3D and have used an Evo 4G for a year, and both of those look much better than the Photon's display... Everything has a checkerboard texture to it. Its awful.
I see what you mean by the pixilation. but my reds and whites are brighter. So i guess its a tradeoff. but in normal day to day use you won't notice the difference. and i love the feel of the gorilla glass its awesome.
Besides the tegra chipset whats the difference between this and the EVO?

Last part is very true. but I'm really hoping they will unlock it. I didn't even bother with the 3d cuz i didn't feel it was an upgrade from the OG Evo. I also couldn't care less for the way HTC did their 3D technology. The photon was appealing for its specs as well as the fact that its a world phone.
So far it feels speedy fast compared to my OG Evo. the photon is a tad thicker but feels better in the hand. Not sure if which phone is heavier but i really love the feel of the photon (did i mention that already). Im still setting up my phone so i can't speak for software yet. But mobile hotspot works great here on 4g...

Firefox Desktop browser
USB host (KB/Mouse, USB storage devices)
Accessories:
Media Dock with IR Remote (think Evo Desktop/Media Center)
Root and custom ROM's aside, the Photon has more functionality than the Evo has after a year of heavy development or the 3D. I love hacking/modding/improving all my stuff but this is the first device that I'm happy with (root and custom ROM's not withstanding) out of the box.

I'm not saying it doesn't have more to offer than the Original Evo, but I do think that it's all about modifying.
If I can't run AOSP I'm not interested.

Either Moto is schizophrenic, or Google is finally having an influence on them. Earlier this year they started locking down devices like the Atrix and Photon with a vengeance.
Like the new Atrix, the new Photon seems pretty lame. A physical keyboard? Really? Embedded battery? Lame.

I disagree, locking the bootloader is only going to stop honest people from modifying their phones, which if you have a lot of returns is a good thing. If someone gets your phone, they can get whatever data you have on your phone, same as any other computer. That data needs to be encrpted as it is stored, not rely on the equivalent of a windows password for security.
Cheers!

Some people like physical keyboards so that's actually an asset to a section of the market and the fact that few (if any) other manufacturers produce these now may be a good selling point. People who don't want a physical keyboard can just buy a different device so that's not a problem.
I'm in agreement with you that an embedded battery is a bad idea though it seems increasingly the way many manufacturers are going.
That is on Sprint! Can almost guarantee AT&T will not allow an unlockable bootloader. Remember, this is not just Motorola, it's carrier specific, and further it's carrier specific to each device.

I understand that some people like physical keyboards. But adding one to a good device like the Photon is what doesn't make sense to me. Unless Moto is marketing the phone to tweens or Blackberry converts, I think they made a mistake.

The original Droid series has had physical keyboards. Many people loved those phones. Those people will buy those phones.

No, not the entire Droid series. Just the Droid-Droid 4.
The others are offshoots of the original Droid series, like the RAZR or the Bionic.

That's what I meant. I'll go fix that.
