Hi all,
I'm brand new in the art of updating mobiles.
I would like to update my HD2 to andriod but have no idea of how I do it. I have looked at a lot of threads but it seems that I need ot know a lot about my phone before I can start!!
Can anyone help me how and where to start?! What do I need to install and how do I install it :/

Knowledge is power my friend and d answers u seek are but a click away...All u have 2 do is read, read n do more reading...follow all instructions written by devs to d letter as they were written for a reason...Wat reason?...
Avoiding errors or turning your beloved HD2 into an "Expensive Paper-Weight"....Getting android onto ur device is quite easy, u just have 2 put in d time 2 understand certain terms n how d needed softwares work...So summary?...Start reading from here. When u have properly familiarized urself with flashing then visit the HD2 android development section n check out several builds available...u must make a choice urself as we wouldn't know wat u lyk...so feel free 2 test as many as u can.
P.S. Its crucial u first perform a HSPL (2.08 HSPL) on ur fone before doing ANYTHING else.
The post above isn't really helpful. He's obviously read a lot already lol.
I know getting in to flashing and stuff on the HD2 is very confusing at the start, but once you learn it once you learn it forever.
Basically first off, you need to flash HSPL 2.08 to your phone. To do so download 'HSPL4' from these forums and flash that. Just search for it and you'll find it. It'll have instructions on how to install it on the thread which is very easy.
Just boot to SPL and connect to USB and run the .exe file inside of HSPL4 and choose 2.08.HSPL from the drop down menu.
After this you need to flash the newest radio which is 2.15.50.14. There's a sticky in all the HD2 development threads that have all the radio's. Just look in the WinMo or Android section and it'll be stickied. You basically then open the file you downloaded with the radio in it, boot to HSPL (you've just flashed HSPL over SPL) and run the RomUpdateUtility and just click on all the next and update buttons on the window that'll pop up and it will install. Obviously you need your USB cable plugged in for this too.
After that, you need to flash MAGLDR. I can't get links at the moment but you should easily be able to get a link to the MAGLDR thread and download it. After you've downloaded it to your PC, it's basically the exact same procedure as flashing a radio. Bootloader > USB connected to phone > open RomUpdateUtilty and follow instructions and flash. After this finishes installing you're basically done and all you need to do is flash your Android ROM. Just go in to the NAND Development section and chose a ROM to start from.
Another option is to flash Clockworkmod Recovery after MAGLDR.
You simply flash that by going in to MAGLDR (keep holding power/end key while phone is booting) and go to USB Flasher using your volume buttons then going in to it by the call button. Then opening the .DAF file on your PC and following the instructions and clicking next. Obviously again with your USB cable plugged in too. This is how you flash ROM's/Clockwork.
Any other problems I'd be more than happy to help with.
Just to mention too - the HD2 is very difficult to brick so don't worry about bricking your phone as I don't think there's actually a way to do it other than flashing the wrong radio if you have a TMoUS HD2 and you flash a .51 radio which you won't do as I've told you the correct radio to flash.
from the info he posted about his phone, it seems it already has the latest radio installed (2.15.50.14) I'm guessing that he's got a phone from somewhere in EU since the TMOUS came with the 2.08.50 radio, unless I'm mistaken, and there are some later models of the US hd2 that have the 2.15 radio, but anyways if the info is correct then he doesn't need to worry about the radio, he needs :

and his rom of choice. I'm sure with this info he can get to where he wants to go, good luck!
Woops my bad, didn't even read the OP info part. Well done for posting the links though as I can't at the moment.
Also about clockwork, make sure the you have the right clockwork partition for the ROM or else you'll get stuck on a boot-loop. You'll usually find the partition info in the ROM thread and then you just edit the flash.cfg file found in your clockwork folder using notepad.
Hi
Thanks a lot for all your help, it made it a lot easier for me to start )
I have now installed
HSPL4> 2.08hspl http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...85&postcount=3
I didnt do this (radio update, since as I understood I already had the right one!!??, Yes the phone is from Denmark)
Task 29 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644781
Then I downloaded MGLDR and run the ROMUpdateUtility
MGLDR http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
BUT it say that it may take upto 10 minutes, it take below 1 minute for me... the statusbar at the host computer goes from 0 to 100% fast and the same on the phone and after that the phone restart and show "HTC" in green with white background... then it simply stops.......
What have I done wrong and how can I solve it?!
Thanks in advance for all your input.
Best regards,
Peter

Sometime wrong radio can cause that issue.
Make sure that the radio is 2.15.xxx.xxx.
Now, you should go into bootloader and try to flash the radio, and then restart doing task 29, flashing MAGLDR.
If you succeed, your phone will automatically bring you into MAGLDR screen.
From there you can flash Android or WP7
Good luck
I now downloaded my "old" radio version 2.15.50.14
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
It seems to complete.. didnt jump from 0% to 100% in 1 sec..... so thats good
Then the task29 seems to work as well since my ROM is clean!!
BUT agian when I romupdate MGLDR it start and complete very fast... goes from 0 to 100% within a few sec...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
and agian stops at the HTC startup screen.....
As extra information I can say that when I try to install MGLDR the RomUpdate state that the current image version is... blank
and that I can install Image Version 2.00.000.0
And then when I start it takes a few sec.....
What OS do you use on your PC? If it's Vista/Windows 7, you may need to run as administrator, if you haven't done so already

I have not had any problem using the programs so far.. so I guess I have all the right rights!
UPDATE:
Can it be a problem with the SD card if there are no connection or a defect card?
I get exactly the same behavior if I remove the SD card from the phone!

Hmmm...You r flashing MAGLDR 1.13? Try flashing witout ur sd card & sim card present...if dat still doesn't work then try another pc, possibly one with Windows 7 (though it works on xp)...Task 29 always.
My Leo start to restart or crash , in the last months, and some time as grafical problem wrong color and flashing some time problem at boot! Now don't boot at all!
first, at the moment of it stop on device was:
HSPL 2.08
CLK and CRW
some CM7 build!
radio 2.13.50.xx version
The Leo was discharged, and i as some trouble to restart it attached to the charger
but finally it boot, then was discharged and never boot up!
I have put to charge but it freeze after some time (botton back light on and red led on if i disconnect to charger) so i have try to charge it on boot screen, tricolor )
I have try after i was charged everything without success !
The only thing i can access is Tricolor boot screen whit HSPL 2.08
when i try to boot only white screen!
Task 29 - fail (270 error) from HD2 toolkit, from task29.exe and from mtty
Flash 1.66 and 3.14 Original HTC ITA rom from SD, fail at radio!
i have try task 2a, task 28 as well task 29. then flash from sd original htc rom, same fail !
Flashing clk, magldr. or HSPL 2 fail!
Custom 6.5 rom, from sd go until finish but on reboot, as usual white screen!
So i have try flashing radio 2.xx.51 and 2.xx.50 but fail at end.
I have also try flashing custom rom, 6.5 and android from pc, but obviously no way!
The only way to remove clk is from sd HTC flash, and is possible is this the problem?
Some one can help me to try recover or understand what is happen to my Leo??
(yes is bricked probably ......but what? )

Please explain to me how this is related to "Android NAND Development" ?
And once that is done, would you like to calm down and use a better translator as from what you just posted above, i seem to make out nothing other than the fact English is not your native language.
All I know is:
- make sure you have the latest OFFICIAL ROM for your device
- flash it via SD
- flashing an original ROM from the SD if you have HSPL and a custom ROM will cause the process to reboot at some point; this is normal, and the update process should continue (you write that it fails on radio, but you didn't mention what exactly happens)
If flashing an original ROM doesn't work, then I'd wager your HD2 is busted.
In what way are you developing for HD2 NAND ROMs? Also, your device is not bricked if you can access the tricolour bootloader. The post above pretty much sums up any useful info I could give.
If your HD2 gives short 7 vibrates, its time for replacement. thats a panic vibrate by the processor. one of your chips is on its way out. this should be connected to temperature as well. keep it cool and without power for few hours, and it mught revive. but just for time being. it might worsen with time.
and please better translator.
Oh please, sorry for my English !
I do my best to try to make me understand!
Here is an International forum and here we all speak English!
have you ever tried to translate from English into Italian? is almost incomprehensible, anyway if someone does it, I try to do everything possible to understand him, and answer !
comfortable life to have all the information in their native language huh?
you know what ?, we Italians are so uncivilized, that where I work in IT department of a large company,
with Indian colleagues, who deal with Unix, we communicate on English! Find the same in other countries.....

1-Leo don't boot OS
2-Leo go on BootLoader (HSPL2.08)
3-Flash from SD , nbh extracted from original HTC_Leo_update. FAIL!
4-Overwrite HSPL, whit Other HSPL version or respective SPL (2.08) FAIL
5-mtty (bootloader commands) Task 29, Task 28, Task 2a, execute but not solving the problem, maybe is not nand format or bad block related....
Can you please say something different from the fact that Leo does not go?, like spl code to investigate what kind of hardware fault?

Hello,
I followed this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7909725&postcount=2 With extreme caution, and after I installed HSPL I went installing MAGLDR it all installed fine. And it booted again, but ik kept hanging at the HTC Logo.
Please help me. I seriously do not know what I need to do now !
Thanks in advance
edit: was waiting for your response, but now m sleeeeeepy. so at this moment all i can say is revert to your windows mobile OS or try a smaller android rom like tytung rom which doesnt need so much flashing instruction..
yawwwwwwn, , , magldr wont start unless spl is ONLY 2.08.hspl, no other will do. 3.03.hspl is wrong, anything except 2.08.hspl is wrong.
AND AND AND AND AND AND AND
radio MUST be a x.xx.50.x tmous radio (2.15.50 for example)
if either is wrong, magldr wont appear.
Enter bootloader
if spl doesnt = 2.08.hspl then change it to 2.08.hspl
if spl IS 2.08.hspl then get radio 2.15.50 and flash it.
Reboot, magldr will start.
( I yawwwwned because this gets asked and answered EVERY DAY, and it tells you about teh spl AND radio in magldr thread post 1, , ,you DID read teh magldr opening posts, right? you didnt just flash some unknown software because some video said to?? hehehe)

MAGLDR 1.13
After long (about 4 months) under awful developing, DFT proudly presents MAGLDR bootloader - The first bootloader with built-in Tetris!
LEO512 and LEO1024 are supported both.
MAGLDR doesn't replace OSPL/HSPL. It runs in the chain after. So it's safe to install and remove it.
You need HardSPL 2.08 before installation!
History:
V1.11 fixed "GO GO GO stuck issue".
V1.12 added WPH support.
V1.13 added AD Recovery support, fixed few bugs.
Installation:
You need radio which support 576 RAM.
Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe and install it.

Hey guys, just bought a T-Mobile US HD2 online, it is running WinMo 6.5 stock, how do I install WP7? After consulting countless guides, I've concluded that none of them helped. Do I need to root the HD2? What steps do I need to take to install a WP7 ROM? Which ROM is the best performing? Please get back to me asap

hi,
Steps of installation
1) Install HSPL2(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433)
2) Install Radio(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787)i use 2.15.50.14
3) Install MagLDR (Ver 1.13)(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618)this will erase wm6.5
4) after magldr install you will have magldr options(using vol up and down), go down to usb flasher(call button to select) and flash the rom
4) Install WP7 ROM
install tutorial https://rapidshare.com/files/3354188424/ROM_install_Tutorial_v1.4.pdf
Stuck on second splash screen after flashing WP7!
I have run WP7 even before on my HD2 without any issue except for it's unbeatable appetite for battery. Recently I flashed ICS but ran into some camera and 3G network issues, so now I am trying install Pdaimatejam's ROM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833.
I followed the following steps.
1. Installed WinMo6.5
2. Installed MAGLDR 1.13
3. Ran 10. Service on MAGLDR and did UseLast24NAND, and then cleared the SD MDR
4. Flashed the WP7 ROM on USB Flasher mode
It says installation successful and reboots the phone automatically...after the first splash screen it goes into say booting WP from NAND and that GO GO GO thingy and then the second splash screen pops - HTC in white on a black backgroun - and stays there. Won't load the WP7. I have flashed several times, I have even flashed without the SD card plugged in. But the same results. On one occasion I did Task29 too but the results were the same.
Any ideas for me?
did you have HSPL 2.08 installed?

yes i had HSPL 2.08 installed...have had it since Jan last year (I guess). But since you asked, I reinstalled HSPL 2.08 about an hour ago, did a Task29, installed MAGLDR 1.13....in short I repeated the entire drill on the tutorial again but still no luck...stuck on the second splash screen.
Help me out, this is my primary and also the only phone.
Is there any SD version of WP7?
My volume key membrane is broken and replacing this will require entire flex to be replaced which will cost more than US$50.
Sorry if my question sound silly but don't have much idea about WP7

no... it's impossible... Wp7 must be flash on NAND and use sdcard as memory... this concept is on all WP7 devices
I see, well thanks for your comeback. I guess I will have to spend another US$ 40 on this phone :-'(

sorry guys if i'm in the wrong section or if you have already discussed this topic, but I could not find a solution to my problem:
does anyone know how to establish a connection with activesync(does not exist for windows 7) on hd2 (android) on windows 7? I'm going insane, I can not flash anything even with MAGLDR ... thanks!
You have to install google usb driver to flash anything via MAGLDR.
Async is not longer working with CLK or MAGLDR.
I already did, but unfortunately the problem persists...
It would help if you described what the problem actually is. A step by step of what you are doing complete with filenames and fully written out errors please.
(And forget about activesync, it doesn't mean the activesync program, instructions to 'get an activesync connection's have been misleading people for years.)
ok samsamuel, i have an htc hd2 with android 2.2, kernel 2.6.32.15-g66f6ed7-dirty,
hspl 2.08, magldr 1.11 and i need to do a task29 on windows 7, so i turn off the phone entered in magldr usb flasher mode (the computer recognizes the phone as an android phone or magldr depends on the driver that I use) but when I run the task29 tells me error 264,I also tried to change port usb driver, but it always tells me the same error...If you need any other information let me know
thank's
ps sorry for my terrible english!!
I also had problem with task29 when i wanted to run it on my hd2 but with Vista. Anyway i didn't run it and fixed my problem in other way.
I see that you are with mgldr 1.11, did you tried with 1.13?

you don't run task29 from magldr, you need to be in bootloader, so teh pc should use its htc/winmo drivers. Its not an android phone, so the only time android drivers work is when android is running (whether an actual android rom, or magldr/cLK)
Anything that you actually 'flash' (hspl, radios, winmo roms, task29, splashcreens, magldr, cLK) you flash from the stripey bootloader as a winmo phone.
Old style android roms and cwm partition layouts are the only thing you flash from magldr.
