[Q] connection problem - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

sorry guys if i'm in the wrong section or if you have already discussed this topic, but I could not find a solution to my problem:
does anyone know how to establish a connection with activesync(does not exist for windows 7) on hd2 (android) on windows 7? I'm going insane, I can not flash anything even with MAGLDR ... thanks!

You have to install google usb driver to flash anything via MAGLDR.
Async is not longer working with CLK or MAGLDR.

I already did, but unfortunately the problem persists...

It would help if you described what the problem actually is. A step by step of what you are doing complete with filenames and fully written out errors please.
(And forget about activesync, it doesn't mean the activesync program, instructions to 'get an activesync connection's have been misleading people for years.)

ok samsamuel, i have an htc hd2 with android 2.2, kernel 2.6.32.15-g66f6ed7-dirty,
hspl 2.08, magldr 1.11 and i need to do a task29 on windows 7, so i turn off the phone entered in magldr usb flasher mode (the computer recognizes the phone as an android phone or magldr depends on the driver that I use) but when I run the task29 tells me error 264,I also tried to change port usb driver, but it always tells me the same error...If you need any other information let me know
thank's
ps sorry for my terrible english!!

I also had problem with task29 when i wanted to run it on my hd2 but with Vista. Anyway i didn't run it and fixed my problem in other way.
I see that you are with mgldr 1.11, did you tried with 1.13?

ok guys i finally solved the problem, no magldr just turn on the phone by holding power button and volume down (just down)!! do not believe it!The biggest problems are solved always with the simplest solutions

you don't run task29 from magldr, you need to be in bootloader, so teh pc should use its htc/winmo drivers. Its not an android phone, so the only time android drivers work is when android is running (whether an actual android rom, or magldr/cLK)
Anything that you actually 'flash' (hspl, radios, winmo roms, task29, splashcreens, magldr, cLK) you flash from the stripey bootloader as a winmo phone.
Old style android roms and cwm partition layouts are the only thing you flash from magldr.

[TUT]MAGLDR Help[TUT]

Okay, everyone having problems seems to be steming from the same issues. One of the biggest seems to be: not reading. I read through about 22 pages, and kept seeing the same questions, most that had been answered.
Before you do anything, boot up winmo. Make sure you are at 2.80 HSPL. If you are not, download and flash it. Next make sure the winmo rom you have supports the 576mb rom. Most wont say if they do. If you arent 100% sure, search for one and flash it. I was using a dexter build, and everything worked flawless for me.
Once everything is in place, load up the winmo rom, and connect the phone to your cpu and activate winmo sync. After downloading MAGLDR to your cpu desktop, make sure the phone is still connected and in sync mode. Run DAF.exe. Let the program run through. After successful install, it will reboot into MAGLDR.
The volume rocker is up/down. Send/Green=Select/Enter. Home=Back. To load up your old android sd build go to settings and tell MAGLDR where the build is located. Note: There is an issue with loading sd builds, so most will not run correctly, if at all.
Now its time to install an Android NAND build. I used DFT's stock android build. Download it. Disconnect phone from cpu. Run the #4 option in MAGLDR by using the volume key and send/green. Run the rom update utility on the pc. When its says searching for usb, plug in the phone, and installation should continue. When its done, it should reboot and load into NAND Android.
If anything fails, start from square one. Install a stock shipped winmo rom. This will overwrite nand and HSPL. So your old NAND Android rom will be replaced, as well as your old HSPL. Re-flash the HSPL3 and continue.
Things to take note of: MAGLDR installs after the second nand check. Meaning you can change the first splash screen, not the others. I'm on US TMO HTC HD2 1024, and everything works perfectly. If you have robot voice, activate and deavtivate speaker phone, it should work. If not, reboot phone, and let it sit for about 10 minutes and it should work fine. AFter installation to retuen to MAGLDR hold the power button when turning the device on. Most importantly: READ. People arent answering your questions because they have probably already been asked and answered multiple times.
Also, see MAGLDR.nbh's posts (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19) about MTTY and task29. It seems to have helped alot of people having more cpu os dependant issues.
This wont help people with the stuck on go go go problem.
I fix however is being worked on.

Depends on which go go go problem it is. And if you follow the steps correctly, it should. But it should help alot of the people who have no idea where to start.

I understand you're trying to help people, but at least try not to feed them wrong information with typos and what not.
2.08 HSPL, not 2.80.
You're going to have new flashers pulling out their hair looking for a non existent HSPL.

not daf.exe... but ROMUpdateUtility.exe
And there are some issues to fix... the bootloop... for example!
My HD2 won't boot after installing MAGLDR, what should I do ? It's stuck at boot screen.

do task 29 here first (see mtty thread also).

Hi, my HD2 doesn't boot to MAGLDR menu. I have tried task 29 and installing MAGLDR 1.0/ 1.1. After installing MAGLDR my phone reboots to "O2 Welcome" screen (the first screen i see on my phone after reboot) had stucks there. I have HSPL 2.08 install and can install cooked roms without any issues.
I am on O2 UK.
Many Thanks.

Hi gang,
I keep on receiving this inane error message: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (723).
I have downloaded and loaded hspl3, magldr 1.11 and dft android.
I have done these 3 steps to no avail.
1. hspl3
2. magldr
3. dft android
I'm not desperate by any means -- more so curious and I favor Android over Win Mo.
What are my odds of someone composing a thorough walkthrough? I figure i'm missing something or doing something out of step.
Please assist XDA community. =)

If I'm doing it wrong, then do it right yourself. Make a tutorial and put it up. It will phase mine out. I never said it was step by step, I just wanted to post something to help the people who were having problems, if you arent having problems why is my short tutorial giving you such grief?

Start everything from begining and try again. Flash stock shipped winmo rom to revert phone, then upgrade to hspl3 then continue through.

my htc hd2 will not turn on

had this not so great idea last night that I would flash my nand android ROM for my HTC HD2 on Tmobile UK, by formatting the SD card then reinstalling CWD and flashing the ROM...
Unfortunately my fone will not switch on, I can get it into bootloader but do not know what to do from here...
any ideas?
I think I need to reinstall magdlr 1.3, then clockwork mod then my nand android rom, can anyone confirm this is right?
please help
ta
whilst I can get into bootloader and it says USB , my PC will not let me access the SD card, nothing happens at all like when the Open folder pop up appears, well it doesnt....
what have I done??
Is the HSPL 3 already installed on the phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
You need to take your sd card out of your phone and use a card reader. There is a problem with Magdlr usb so that would be the only way to copy things to and from the sd card.
I would do a task29, reinstall magldr, clockwork and then go into clockwork and install.
Hope this helps.
bodyman
I have HPSL 2.08 do I need HPSL 3.0??
Sure I have a card reader
But its erm, well formatted now to FAT32...
Whats task29??
How can I reinstall MAGDLR when the phone will only go into bootloader but my PC will not open the sd folder?
thanks

quick seaches found this:
Task29
and you need to be in the bootloader to install magldr -- you use RUU to install that. Then once into madldr, then you can install clockwork -- that uses DAF.
Also, you should upgrade to 3.0.
Hope this helps
Please go read some n00b guides, everything you asked about here is VERY cleary documented, There is absolutley no need at all for this type of topic.
Not trying to be an arse but its just really annoying seeing the forums flooded with these types of topics daily and its because people dont follow simple logic and look at stickies or guide topics prior to jumping in.
trouble is when I connect my phone via usb to PC in order to update to HARDSPL3 nothing happens...
Its like my phone just will not sync with my pc
Even if I get the phone to bootloader mode, where it first says serial, when I connect the fone it does say USB but nothing else happens...
Where are these guides? why are they so hidden...
I dont know if my fone is bricked...please help
If I where you, I would start from scatch.
Go to bootloader when it says USB flash stock WM6.5
Flash HSPL 2.08
Flash MAGLDR
and so and so...
Same problem here with my boys phone. Only thing is, I can't flash anything and wmdc won't recognize the hd2. I feel like an ars lol. Just go buy an android phone and leave winmo in the dust ;-P You might enjoy unloading on it with an ar15 though muahaha

Try using different UBS port or UBS cord and make sure when in bootload your pc show a driver connecting with it or it won't work. And if your on window Vista or 7 try right clicking and run as admin
Also do not have your SD card in while doing this

heres an update:
I installed HARDSPL 3.0
The phone then restarted and is working however I now need to install TASK29
But from lets call it my nand ROM main screen one it has loaded, when I connect attach a USB cable the phone will not sync will windows mobile device centre so I unable to perform TASK29
How can I get around this?
Its great the phone is working again however all I am confident after I manage to run TASK29 it will be clean so that I can install another NAND rom on to it...
Just desperately need my pc OS windows 7 to now recognise my phone so TASK 29 will work, but how?
thanks guys for your help
the plot thickens....
I went into booloader and it still shows SPL2.08 when I downloaded and installed HARDSPL3??? This is the filename I downloaded and installed HSPL3_PKG
Also after removing SD card, the phone boots into MAGDLR v1.13 and then keeps looping into reboot...
On a different note, this time when I phone switched on with USB attached but without SD CARD, my pc OS windows 7 installed a driver and it sees it but now I cannot get into the main ROM screen to run TASK29....
Gonna put the SD Card back in and hope it gets me there that way..will report back in 2 mins..
thanks for your help
so i reinstalled magldr 1.13 and clockworkmod but now when I am in magldr and go to boot ad sd I get the following error message:
load zImage
k: zimage
SD KERNAL OPEN FAILED
it cannot find clockwork mod is that right?
where do i go from here?
thanks for your help
all fixed thanks for your input especially connecting to usb ports this one thing helped me resolve everything
there should be a sticky will all info easily accessible what to do when this happens..
thanks
p.s. if anyone can tell me why my bootloader still shows hardspl 2.08 when I upgraded to 3.0 i would be grateful
thanks guys

3.0 is just an update to 2.08 that works for the newer hd2's
also, task29 will format your NAND -- it is like the ultimate hard reset. I use it when I switch from different roms. That way there is no residuals left over from any previous roms that may or may not cause problems.
check here for any ?'s that you might have. All stickies have been rolled up into one thread.
Well i noticed that task29 doesn't wipe everyhing. I had issues with various rome for a while, I tried task29 many times with no success, the only thing that solved theme where flashing stock 6.5...
And don't go to spl3 or you won't be able to flash magldr, stay on 2.08

Is this a joke? i mean, the stickies are there, you only need to read them and follow the steps you have tutorials and howtos in task29 thread, then in the hardspl thread and in the hd2 sections (sd,nand).
anyway, i am glad, you worked it out

HD2 gone Haywire

I attempted to install Android on my HD2 by following a guide over at HD2Forums, didn't go so well I ended up screwing up the partitions and I got an error saying that the SD card wasn't detected.
I uninstalled ( or I thought I did)
Now my phone will boot up in two diff. WM7s. One has all my info and everything correct the other is a bare install like the phone was never used.
I'm not trying to remove HSPL my re-flashing a fresh ROM. I'm having no luck. I've followed the steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623402
My screen never turns grey, it kinda flashes like it's going to change and returns to the tri-color.
If someone would point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Well you started wrong! You should have read all he stickies in the XDA forums. That being said I don't know what you did but I for know that the process is first HSPL then MAGLDR then flash wp7 using MAGLDR. I don't know where you are stuck at. I believe you will lose most of your personal stuff unless you could use Zune to backup pics and video. If you have HSPL & MAGLDR you should be able to go from there if you can't even see MAGLDR HOLD DOWN POWER button to get to magldr menu. If you can't even get there then try turn off phone then power on holding the volume down button AND the power button go to tricolor screen check do you have HSPL from cotulla?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I read all the stickies on the site I was on.
However, I am running Cotulla 2011 aMagLDR v1.12
I am able to access the bootloader menu but none of the options that I am aware of will help me.
i assume you have the correct radio installed as well?
anyhow, as has been mentioned, go in to MAGLDR and use the USB flasher /update option, then run the WP7 install file from the PC make sure the SD is in your phone and is empty (it will get formatted).
now i cant remember if you do magldr then go to USB update and plug in the USB cable in at that point or plug it in first, anyhow, that should help.
If on the off chance its not being detected by the computer when you connect it to your PC then use a program called USBDVIEW, its very good for deleteing all your USB drivers and starting from scratch, very handy if things get a bit confused for it.
I dont know if this is the correct way so please correct me if I am wrong.
In your case I would do a completely clean install so do a task 29 and then everything from the beginning

You could have just searched the HTC Leo HD2 forums, but follow the link in my signature to get task29. Also, you probably should use MAGDLR 1.13 and read the "How To" of WP7 to find out the order of preparing your phone with HSPL and MAGDLR.
The thing is...reading all that you can before flashing ROM's will save a whole lot of frustrations...also keeping track of your forums on how-to do something. I save the links to all my how-to's in my browser.

[Q] Urgent Help Needed

I also wanna task 29 but I don't know how to get to the bootloader from MAGLDR 1.3

ummm i dunno if magldr can switch you into the bootloader, but doesn't the regular way to get to the bootloader work?
regular way:
1. make sure phone is OFF...take out the battery and plug it back in to make sure
2. hold down the volume down button
3. tap the power/end call button to power on the device
4. keep holding down volume down button
...bootloader should appear!
i guess you are a senior member so you must be looking for something else, it can't be as simple as above, is it?

Mate,
how about flashing stock rom via SD? dont use your old sd, get the new one, and try to flash the stock rom.
If you can pass that, then you can go back to try magldr again
or else,
I think it may be a hardware issue related, may be the volume down button is damaged. If this the case, since you are in android nand, you cant flash stock rom from USB sync
I hope that is not the case though
goodluck

Hey blackashsid, sorry to hear you are having troubles. Without being able to get to the SPL bootloader you will not be able to flash any .nbh file to your HD2. This translates to you not being able to flash a Windows Mobile ROM stock or custom, a different radio version, splash screen, any HSPL or SPL, or cLK. And yes flashing via SD card is no good to you without the SPL bootloader.
Option #5 USB Flasher in MAGLDR will only flash CWM or A DAF ROM.
Your issue is somewhat strange to me, I really don't understand why you are having this issuer unless it is hardware related.

its like i am stuck with MAGLDR
and ders no way to uninstall it or to get to the bootloader for a WM ROM !!
any ideas what is causing this ??
i will really appreciate it !
EDIT: also i noticed all of my DAF ANdroid ROMS get stuck at the splash screen...only WP7 made it !! i want android !
any reason why this happend ?
if you installed wp7 then it isnt an issue wth the phone, its quite possible the roms you are trying to install
Download again the rom you want to use... and make sure you read installing process - every android rom has his specific installing process - clockwork , ext3 ,ex4 etc etc.
I hope you solve your prolem

Try connecting your phone to the back of your PC in one of the USB ports. Do not use the front ones.
Then when you run the Update utility right click on it and RUN as Administrator.
Hope that works.

That's quite hypocritical, saying that you hate people breaking forum rules then swearing and calling another member an idiot. If you're going to flame him (as I indeed was about to as well, but in a much nicer way), at least help him too, and just warn him about the mistake and report the thread for maintenance.
@ OP, what exactly are you trying to do? From what I understand, you already have MAGLDR and you're trying to flash MAGLDR again? There isn't any point to that, from here onwards the steps are to flash CWM with the right partition, then your desired ROM. Follow this guide.

Copy Pasting the half of the first post doesn't help us finding out what the problem is, Respect the people who spend time helping you out without getting anything!
So, Here is what you did:
You HSPL'd your device,
Installed Magldr,
Booted the device and pressed "USB Flasher"
Connected device to the pc, and tried to install the software but got a readme error?
Well I have that sometimes, but I just can go further.. Very strange.
Make sure to sync your fone with activesync for windows xp or windows mobile device in windows vista or 7. u cant flash MAGLDR without syncing your fone

not accurate.
The word 'sync' makes people think you have to actually get a connection to activesync/wmdc the program,,,,,, you don't.
put the phone into bootloader (stripey screen) connect usb, when serial becomes usb, thats an activesync connection and you can flash. activesync teh program will not show a connection when you do this. the line ''get an activesync connection'' has been confusing people for years.
