So i have the mt3g 3.5 jack, i have the CyanogenMod 6.1.0 , now can any one tell me the best things to install on the phone to make it faster like the best new rom, radio, and ect to install?
Depends on what you want. If you want all the features of cm then.. I would suggest cos but that's been slimmed up recently... that green rom project cm7 or maybe Ginger yoshi.
If you want light and fast then go with ezgingerbread.
and either stay on your current radio and spl or,if your bored and really want to, upgrade to the 28.25 radio and 0013 spl. It won't make too much of a difference

Probably not
Hey Guys,
Sorry I'm clearly not up to this task but after having fun with my Defy that was already running a pikachu edition rom, I had updated it to 2.4.20 and then thought I'd like to try CM10 JB...now I feel like a wally as I flashed the kernel/rom in recovery (CWM I think?) and it crashes quite a bit etc so I wanted to go back to MIUI.. however I cannot.. as each time I install it locks on the motorola screen - I assume this is because of the kernel? can I not find the correct (or can someone point me to) 2.3.4? or whichever kernel and just flash it then flash MIUI again?
I've red the all in one guide etc and have not yet had any experience with RSDLITE etc but have it installed and ready - I guess I'm just not even sure what SBF to even flash - if I even need to at all?
all advice well appreciated!

Can you describe what exactly is happening?
Before you flash another random rom wait and give people on forum a chance to help you. It might be a tiny issue easy to solve
after a month of searching and flashing and reflashing still couldn't get my camera to work on my defy
i flashes a bl7 rom from defy+ and can't downgrade so i got stuck with a defy ( soc/green lens) with no camera working
thanks to quarx i got my camera back
it's simple flash the latest cm10 nightly from quarx link quarx2k.ru/cm10-2ndboot-nightly-defy(+)/ and you're done
hope it helps you guys
again thx quarx
Thankyou very much, I was looking for that since about 6 months, nothing helped, but this really works with my 'old' defy (green-lens-camera) and bl7.
you're welcome

hi,
i have the same problem:
accidentily flashed bl7 on my green lense defy (DFP-231).
now if i try to flash the lastest cm10 as advised, after reboot my defy gets stuck at the red m, right before the boot animation. i can enter the stock recovery, but it does not come as far as the blue led for custom recovery.
any ideas?
Need help !

Bro.. I had the same problem (Defy green lens)and was able to fix it with 2nd boot quarx rom and the camera got fixed. Thanks to Quarx and this community ! I had battery drain issues on official GB ROM and my battery would hardly last for 4-5 hrs even when not in use and would be dead in a couple of hours of internet usage over GPRS and would drain close to 50% even on stand by & screen turned off.
Did u experience same issues ? if so, has this been solved after installing this new ROM ?
Did u flash 2.2 (froyo) kernel while installing the new ROM ? coz I'm afraid to do so.. as it might burn my device..

not sure what you are aking but if you have bl7 on your green len dont flah any kernels except the one from quarx if you want the phone to enirely work
as for the drainage iue i ddint have before or after quarx cm10
i dont have my defy anymore
but with 1 hour of talking 2-3 of wifi and 1 of 3g it lasted 2 days
so maybe its just your battery
try to fully charge it
then go to cutom recovery -> advanced -> wipe battery stat
or fully charge it and use from playtore a battery calibration app
bet rgds

I mean, I have a Defy (Green lens) my phone was updated to Defy+ firmware(official 2.3.6 )by the service center and naturally that screwed up my battery and camera . So I guess I'm on BL7 ROM now. Camera came alive only after installing the CM10 Quarx ROM but the battery life doesn't seem to change much. I'm now on 17/11 ROM coz, heard that this ROM has battery battery backup, not sure how far will it help in my situation bcoz after the 2.3.6 firmware update by service center battery completely screwed up and used to last for half a day at most.
Plz let me know if there is a solution for the battery drain issue that I'm facing. May be a battery fix or something
Thanks and regards
Kishore

never had the battery issue
are you sure your carrier updated your phone to defy+ firmware?
cause if so they should change it for you
do you have dfp 188 / dfp 231 / dfp 2311
check them somewhere in the about phone section from settings
if you have them youre surely on bl7
as for the battery dont know what to say
you can try to contact quarx for more details

I'm not sure what you are referring to and was unable to find what you have mentioned, but I'm pretty sure that my phone was upgraded to official 2.3.6 ROM by the service center and those f**** will not change it for me. And I'm not sure if at all it would be possible to go back to froyo as it was upgraded to official GB ROM.
Is there a way out ... any ideas
Regards
Kishore

if its defy+ rom you should see mb526 at your model number you cannot downgrade it
not untill the bootloader is unlocked and there are minimal chances
the only way is to stay on quarx's cm10
as for the battery drainage problem try to calibrate it
solved battery drain !!!

Hi Brother, It's been a loong time now.. but if you are still active here, could you please help me out with a stable 2nd boot Quarx ROM or any other stable 2nd boot ROM that works for me? As I'm still running on Nightlies (Sept 30th) and development on this is going painfully slow...: well can't complain though.. I just need something more stable.. the nightlies have some lag and the devices seems to be too slow even when not using data. I just want to put a stable OS on this and keep this aside.
Thanks for all the help from this community.. Really greatfull
Re CM 10. read an old install tutorial that linked model specific kernels for the Quarx CM10 build. My wife's phone is a green lens. Do i need to do anything funky? or do i just intstall the rom and gapps?
by funky I mean do I need to install a phone specific kernel?
anyone?

No kernel required for CM10 and CM10.1, its a custom kernel (same kernel for both MB525 and 526). Just flash ROM and gapps.
much thanks hotdog.....I was going crazy waiting to flash this thing. Decided to do a full titanium backup while I waited (should have started it sooner lol) oh and what are some good settings for a balance of battery and decent performance? My wife is not a power user by any means. Just wants stuff to work. She'll never be playing games or anything like that.

Because I have to be noobish once a while :silly:
I'm sick of random reboots and that kind of stuff. Actually, I'm using JellyCast, but I'm seriously thinking about going back to stock. What's your opinion about it?
if this ROM doesn`t mean more speed and smoothness for you, go back to stock
or change the ROM
better u should change the rom stock rom interface is quiet boring after u use ics ui
