"Windows Button" broke - Optimus 7 General

Today, I took my Optimus 7 out of my pocket and the tiny Windows button fell on the ground.

It still works but it doesn't look verry pretty...
Anyone with the same problem?
You think the LG support will fix it?

Yes they will. Optimus 7's ONLY physical blemish is it's three hard keys at the bottom. Since the start, I have had three replacements because of the buttons' looseness or inconsistency in clicks. It is considered a manufacturing flaw, and as long as there is no sign of other physical damage, the warranty should cover it.
Take it to them, and report back. I remember from the teardown posted around here a while back that the buttons are very easy to take out and put back...

Phone keys are scratched

Has anyone else got scratches on there phone keypad, mainly the 7 & 8 keys from the phone sliding open and close, my phone isn't even a month old yet.
yes. i noticed this today.
time to buy some protective cover or something?
it's only a phone dude.
Same here. 3 weeks old.
Annoying but not the end of the world.
Isn't this a manufacturing fault. It would be like buying a car and every time you opened the door you scratched the paint on the door because there wasn't enough clearance between the body and the car. If there is scratches all over the keys after accouple of week, whats 6 mths going to do to it.
I might take it back to see what the shop says.
Might be a warranty issue. Gonna take mine back aswell.
my keys are scratched up too
I also have the scratches.
I left the plastic protective cover that was attached to the to keypad from new on & yes its getting pretty scruffy on the 8 & 0 area. So I'm glad I left the protective cover on. Hopefully some enterprsing company will bring out some sort of key protector soon
I have the 16 key version.. It's scratched on the 5,6,8,9, and 0 keys. But it's no big deal to me.
don't have 'em yet, but I don't use my dual much until its unlocked.
Is this specific to the 16 key or 20 key, i have the 20 key version and its perfect no scratches that i can see
There's not a mark on the keypad of my 16-key version.

Screen fell off??

Today i opened the keyboard on my phone and the screen slider on the left side came completely off. My screen is now dangling by the ribbon and the right side slider.
At&t is claiming physical damage, but the phone is in a case and has never been dropped or abused. They say that the screws are proof, cause and effect of the physical damage. Sort of like saying that dropping your phone in the toilet is what caused it to stop working, when actually it was the water that did it.
Htc is saying my phone is out of warranty, but it is a warranty replacement for a phone that wouldn't charge and is only one month old.
What do I do? I feel like they deliberately sent me a replacement that was out of warranty because I repeatedly held their feet to the fire on selling me shoddy phones.
Use HTC service manual (Hermes) - found through using search function - to re-attach the screen. You will need to take it apart but as you don't have a warranty, there no problem. You need a size 6 torque key, a small phillips head screwdriver and a small flatbladed screwdriver.
Not hard, done it plenty of times.
Cheers...

Loose Slider?

Hey guys,
I recently got a replacement Xperia from O2 after my old one had a severe backlight bleed, however, one thing stands out for this one with me.
The slider seems very loose, so loose that when you close an application by tapping 'X', the left side of the screen rises about half a millimeter.
Also, when the phone is opened, the screen is loose, e.g. shaking the device slightly causes the screen to 'Flap' in a sense.
I can't remember if my original had a loose slider, so fellow X1 owners....Is this common? Is it worth ringing O2 again?
hi
well, i have my xperia for some 2 months and the screen is also very loose, when i open it i can see that the right metalplate that holds the screen moves about 1mm up and down, the left one is steady in place tho... when it's closed i can even insert my touchscreen pen in between the screen and keyboard... it's that loose... i figure it happens over time... i never let it fall down on the floor and i always use a hard leather bag on my belt to carry it. It's a bit annoying tho, the phone doesn't feel nearly as solid as when i bought it. But the thought of having to send the phone for repair and have to wait i don't know how long to have it back, is holding me from doing anything about it...
But maybe it happens with all or most phones...?
Well, according to the staff at the service centre here, the looseness is cos of the curved sliding mechanism. Asked if they could tighten it and they said if tightening it would cause the keyboard to get scratched.
lol that's such a lame excuse... it was tightened when it was brand new lol
Mine may be a little loose, but it has not gotten worse since I got it a few months ago. It is as I expected from a slider phone. It still feels tight and top quality.
It's difficult to discuss things like this without trying your phone and vice versa. I guess if you feel your phone is too floppy and not as tight as one can expect, you should definately talk to the service guys again.
Mine is loose too
Since I got my X1 at the end of Oct 2008 the slider has become loose compared to when it was new and I have compared it to other new X1's in stores. I found that the backplate of the slideout, at the exposed long side of the phone, between the two "tracks" has come loose from the actual top part and this is causing allowing the slider to move. In the new X1's i checked this parts was firmly attached to the top part and the slider was very nice and firm. I think SE may have a manufacturing problem here and I've turned mine in for repair. It will be interesting to see if they fix it or come back and say "abuse". I use it professionally and I have a original SE beltpouch for it.
Apart from this little problem I love the phone and it's functions!
no kidding. my P has a little scratch from the slider being too tight.
apologies for bringing this thread back from the dead.
I've encountered the same problem and just had a word with the the dedicated XPERIA line in the US. I purchased my phone from Carphone Warehouse in the UK.
What they said was that they would need to verify the purchase of the phone. Once that is done, I can send it in to the service center and have it repaired. Not too sure if they're going to do anything about it, but they said it could take up to 60 days (!!!!).
Anyone had any luck fixing this without sending it in?
Have brought my phone to the service centre twice, both times with regards to battery life issues, and had at the same time mentioned about the loose slider, but never had they done anything about it.

Capacitive buttons replacement

Hi!
I have a Samsung GALAXY s7 and 4 days agof my capacitive buttons stopped working after i submerged the phone in water, I sent it to samsung so they would fix it but they sent it back today telling me that the warranty doesn't cover water damage. So now I was wondering if there is anything give can do to fix my capacitive buttons, is there some way I can replace them? If yes how and where can I buy them?
Also before all this, i had another problem with the phone, it's memory was damaged and the OS had problems, I made a thread about that too, but ended up sending it to samsung cause I couldn'the find any solutions. Right after the capacitive buttons stopped working 4 days ago I noticed that the back part of the phone was't sealed, I could separate it with my fingernail, so I think that the guys who changed the damaged memory forgot to seal the phone properly and that's why it got so damaged after 20 seconds in water. Of course now after I sent it a second time for the capacitive buttons they sealed it properly now, so I have no evidence of this.

Bent/lifted nexus 6p. Anyway i could fix this?

Just bought a nexus 6p(my 4th) 128gb off Swappa. Ling story short device was damaged more than the seller led on. If by chance I end up keeping the device is the bend something I can fix.

Top right part of screen lifted

Assuming this is not as simple as changing the battery cover/housing?
Very poor quality photos. Can't see ****.
I agree, the photos are very poor and don't show much. I would try and get a refund if you can. It is VERY hard to fix these issues by hand and not something you can just do. It requires surgical precision.
A friend of mine who is a mechanic bent one of his tools once and he said to me "Once metal is bent, its almost impossible to straighten out. Guess I'm buying a new one tomorrow." If some random tool can't be fixed, a phone with glass and computer parts is impossible.
Sorry.
