AT&T HD2 Radio question - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I bought a hd2 already unlocked and had android put on it but I changed it to a NAND rom and now im wondering how to and if i should update my radio on my phone. I had the 2.08 radio and running 2.2 revolution by mdj

In a word, YES. I find the 2.15.50.14 radio to work the best on AT&T. Do a search for it and flash it on.

How do i flash a radio when Im using a NAND ROM? Clockwork Recovery?

You should be able to flash the radio using the usual method.
How to get into your Bootloader Screen
1. Turn your phone off
2. Press and hold the 'Volume Down' button then briefly press the 'Power' button to switch the phone on. Let go of the 'Power' button but keep holding the 'Volume Down' button until the tri-coloured screen appears (should take around 3 seconds).
3. To exit Bootloader you need to remove your back cover and pull the battery out for a few seconds, then replace it and press the 'Power' button to reboot your phone.

You will need to get CustomRUU and use that to flash the radio while the phone is in the bootloader screen.

I dont have the phone now to do it but when i enter the bootloader screen i connect to pc then run RUU application and when finished take out battery and reboot correct?

make sure you know if your hd2 is the t-mobile or euro version. cuz i have a t-moblie one and you cant use certain radios.
only ones for the tmous (T-Mobile US). if you use the radio for the euro hd2 on the tmous one, your device will be bricked.
its pretty easy to tell if yours is tmous or not. if it has the T-Mobile branding on the top of the screen and green and red call/end call buttons its obviously the tmous. if not its the euro hd2. the euro hd2 can use all radio types.
so just to clarify in case you didn't know. i wouldn't want you to brick your device. I personally use AT&T on a tmous hd2. i use the 2.15.50.14 radio. i get great service and good battery life (besides the fact i dont have 3g band cuz its a tmous hd2).
good luck

Thanks I got it. I just was weary to brick my phone so I wanted to know how to do it well first

Changing radios

I have a NAND version of Android on my phone with 2.08 radio, and all of a sudden I am getting to robotic voice. I am told to switch to the 2.15 radio, but since I don't have winmo on the phone anymore I have no idea how to do this and have been searching for a while now. Can anyone help?
Boot to bootloader, connect to pc, when usb shows on multi-coloured screen run the CustomRUU that comes in the radio download.
Boot into the bootloader screen (with phone off, hold volume up and power button until tri-color screen appears) then plug in usb and run the radio ruu, same way as you would with windows.
Hope it helps!
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
thank you guys so much, I was messing around with that before but couldn't figure it out

[Q] Please help - going back to stock ROM

Hi All,
I have been running a few NAND Android ROMS but seem to have an issue where pushing the power button on the HD2 no longer locks the phone, it just brings up the Power Off / Airplane mode options etc.
I think the button is damaged and sticking so wanted to go back to stock WinMo ROM to test this and if necisary send back for repair.
I have downloaded the stock O2 ROM from HTC.com but cant work out how to load this ROM. I presume I need to boot to HSPL?? only thing is I cant boot to it, I just get the MAGLDR screen.
Not sure if I'm doing something blatantly stupid or even if the button is not actually broken, although it does exactly the same in all Android builds I have tried. Is there a softkey that can be set to lock the screen?
Any adive much appreciated.
Thanks
Denno
Phone off
hold vol down
tap and release power
keep holding vol down till coloured screen apears
plug in usb, wait for serial to chnge to usb, run the flash.
If you have the 3.14 stock you also need to run hspl4 and choose 3.03.0000
Or
flash from sd card (look it up) will do both the flash and set 3.03.0000 all in one go.

[Q] Need HELP!! Android 2.3.2 service issues

Ok this is my first time installing Android to my HD2 and i followed these steps to the T.....
After you installed the HSPL3, then continue.
The Radio to 2.12.50.02 which can be downloaded Here.
Also, MagLoader which can be downloaded Here.
Nexus S Gingerbread 2.3.2, which can be downloaded Here.
1. Flash the radio. Turn the phone off and put the phone in bootloader by holding the Volume Down button and the Power button together. Open CustomRUU and follow the steps and flash it.
2. Flash the Mag Loader. Put the phone in bootloader again and open the ROMUpdateUtility and follow the steps.
3. After the phone loads up Mag Loader, press the Volume Down button until you get to #5 (USB Flasher) and press the Call button (Green button)
4. Go to the ROM you downloaded and run the program called “RUN”.
5. Wait a few minutes and enjoy your new Android phone!
Now the phone wroks very great its so smooth very fast and WAYYY better than widows lol. But, I have alot of service fluctuation it goes from little service to no service even when im outside where i have always had full 3G. Im suspecting it being my radio version because i did have 2.15.40 now i have the 2.12.50 so i guess my question is can i switch my radio back to the 2.15.40 without harming anything?
Yep just enter bootloader and flash the 2.15 radio and reboot.

[Q] Bricked?? MAGLDR to stock WinMo

Hello all,
I was running Android via NAND using magldr on my T-Mobile USA HD2. I wanted to restore it back to stock before selling it and followed instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948 to flash a stock WinMo 6.5 ROM.
Before Android, I had HSPL2 on it.
The ROM I downloaded was the WWE 1.48 one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577717. Is this Euro only by any chance??
Now the screen won't even turn on and it won't even go in to bootloader by holding down Vol Down + Power.
Did I completely brick it? Or is there a way back?

Sounds like you bricked it....
Dont know what rom you flashed but if it had the wrong radio not made for our TMOUS phone then it is quite possible.....
Did the flash complete successfully with no problems?
Dont know if it'll help but holding both vol up and down simultaneously while powering up is supposed to reset it....
Good luck
If its a tmous and you flashed that 1.4 rom you listed then yea, its dead. JTAG or new mainboard.
Can't believe I was so stupid.. It's been quite a while since I've done anything with the HD2 and I completely forgot the WWEs were no good for TMOUS. The ROM I flashed is this one:
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
It did finish flashing successfully for what it's worth. Once it was done, even the splash screen won't come on, it's like the screen is completely dead. Holding vol up + vol dn + power doesn't seem to do anything either.
How can I go about with the JTAG process? Getting a new board is probably not an option as far as I can tell.
Thanks for the help guys.

"its the radio wot dun it".
See the '51' ? well ANY radio with a 51 there will brick a tmous. (So will two of the lowest 50 radios, too, 2,05.50 and 2.06.50 i think they are from memory)
if it were just the rom part that was flashed, the phone wouldn't boot but it would start and be re-flashable, , , its the radio that kills them.

you can either buy the jtag equipment (about a hundred dollars all in, with teh jtag box and hd2 processor jig) or find a repair shop that offers teh service. There are a few members here that offer a postal jtag service too, send a pm to t-macgnolia, he knows someone i think.

Will PM him, thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.

[Q] how to check if HARDSPL has been installed?

I recently bought a second hand HTC HD2, and after asking via email the seller said he has previously flashed an Android rom, and he says he's rooted it. However he hasn't told me whether it was installed by NAND or SD etc, so I'm not sure if it has HARDSPL 2.08 which is what I need to install the Android ROM I want. I don't want to install hardspl 2.08 again because it might brick my phone? so any way to check for hardspl 2.08? My phone is currently running WM 6.5
Also, how do you check the radio version on WM6.5, because I'll also need to make sure my radio rom is compatible with the android rom..
and if I do install the same radio rom twice will it brick my phone?
thanks
phone down
hold voldown
tap n release power
keep holding voldown
when stripey screen appears, there is a line marked spl.
as for radio, when you start booting, a screen appears with small text in teh lower corner, R,G,D, thats the rom radio and protocol version
however for simplicity, just flash them, they take seconds to flash.
put phone into bootloader
connect to usb
run hspl4 - choose 2.08.hspl
phone back into bootloader
connect usb
flash radio 2.15.50
good to go.
thanks, but I thought if you installed hspl twice then you'll brick your phone, and I wasn't so sure about the radio part. So it's safe to install HSPL and the radio rom again?
yep, dunno where you heard that, but maybe its regarding a different phone?
