[Q] how to check if HARDSPL has been installed? - HD2 General

I recently bought a second hand HTC HD2, and after asking via email the seller said he has previously flashed an Android rom, and he says he's rooted it. However he hasn't told me whether it was installed by NAND or SD etc, so I'm not sure if it has HARDSPL 2.08 which is what I need to install the Android ROM I want. I don't want to install hardspl 2.08 again because it might brick my phone? so any way to check for hardspl 2.08? My phone is currently running WM 6.5
Also, how do you check the radio version on WM6.5, because I'll also need to make sure my radio rom is compatible with the android rom..
and if I do install the same radio rom twice will it brick my phone?
thanks

phone down
hold voldown
tap n release power
keep holding voldown
when stripey screen appears, there is a line marked spl.
as for radio, when you start booting, a screen appears with small text in teh lower corner, R,G,D, thats the rom radio and protocol version
however for simplicity, just flash them, they take seconds to flash.
put phone into bootloader
connect to usb
run hspl4 - choose 2.08.hspl
phone back into bootloader
connect usb
flash radio 2.15.50
good to go.

thanks, but I thought if you installed hspl twice then you'll brick your phone, and I wasn't so sure about the radio part. So it's safe to install HSPL and the radio rom again?

yep, dunno where you heard that, but maybe its regarding a different phone?

[Q] HTC HD2 converting to Android from Win 6.5

I needing advice and possible help converting to Android. I have download and tried to change the ROM but it never works. I believe it's because my phone's ROM is 3.14.531.1 which is the upgrade from T-Mobile. I wanted to know if it's possible to go to a back dated ROM to use the DFT_LEO_MAGLDR111 files. If not what do you people suggest.
Make sure you have HSPL installed correctly if not check this out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
Once that's done you can either use an SD card build check this out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958
Or you can use a NAND build
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894423
It's got a video so it's pretty easy to follow
Before you can install HSPL3 you must downgrade your rom to one with an SPL which is not 3.03.0000 (which comes with the 3.14 ROM).
You can download the 2.10 or the 2.13 TMOUS ROM from links in the WinMo6.5 ROM section. or you can use your phone's IMEI number to download the 2.13 ROM from HTC's website * HERE *
If it's a TMO US HD2 then you won't have HSPL3.03 - you'll have HSPL2.10 which is fine to install HSPL2.08 over (you don't need to worry about downgrading your ROM).
If it has green & red call & end-call buttons then it's a US T-Mobile HD2. If not, then it's not.
Turn the phone off and turn it back on again whilst holding the volume down button. This will put the phone in bootloader mode, and will also show you the version of SPL that you have.
Tell us what that is and we can go from there.
Edit: To get out of the bootloader, either pull the battery or press the reset button under the battery cover
HSPL -> MAGLDR -> Flash NAND Android Rom
and flash magldr 1.12..it is available...1.11 is old
I'm going through this at the moment. I'm on Vodafone and I did simply 'update' using an earlier official ROM in order to get the right SPL.

[Q] HD2 Doesnt upgrade

Hi,
Today I've tried to install android onto my HD2. After installing 'mgdlr' to my phone it stopped doing upgrades alltogether.
Mgdlr did install correctly but after the reset I only got that white HTC screen.
I know I have to press the power button really long etc etc (I've read the guide thoroughly).
Now, when I try to install anything it doesn't go any further than 0%. Not with any (official) ROM, radio etc.
I've done several hard resets, soft resets and re-installs but nothing gets past 0%.
Does anyone have any clue what happened and why I can't install a ROM and perhaps knows how to fix it?
What are you trying to install? An android rom? Are you going to the flashing mode in magldr? it's option 4 or 5, I think. Magldr was installed successfully? What radio do you have?
I was indeed trying to install an android rom. My radio version was/is 3.14.404.2
I never got to that mode. I've seen it in video's but mine doesn't. I only get that white screen with, in green letters, HTC on it. No matter how long I hold down the power button.
Btw, I said that magdlr installed succesfully because it installed without errors. But I think it's malfunctioning because it obviously isn;t doing what it's supposed to. Re-installing it isn't an option because it hangs at 0%
Did you try task29? might help with your upgrading issues.

Which NAND rom did you use?
You mean your radio is 2.14.404.2 right, not 3.14.404.2?
Also what is your SPL, it appears in the tri color screen/bootloader.

I think youre right about the radio. It was the standard radio of the latest stock rom. Is there any way to check? My spl is 2.08.0000.
And I was going for rafdroid, not that it matters because I never got close to installing a rom.
Thanks for the replies so far!

if your spl is 2.08.0000, first, how did you get magldr to instal since it requires hspl? second, if you removed hspl after flashing magldr (hence 2.08.0000 and not 2.08.hspl as it should be), why?
enter bootloader, does it really say 2.08.0000?
You dont have to press the power button for 'really long' only about 5 seconds, so long as its the right 5 seconds, , , start the phone, first splashscreen appears, just as the first splashscreen is about to end, (after around 5/6 seconds) start pressing power, and keep it held till the magldr menu appears.

Mate, I need more info.
1. Your device version (branded or non branded?)
2. Your rom version before you start anything (stock or custom rom?, if stock, is it version 3.14 (the latest one)?)
3. Version of Android (NAND or SD Android?)
4. Are you planning to have dual boot WP7 and SD ANdroid?
5. Do you have HSPL installed?
The solution will depend on your answer on the above question
Cheers
Ive tried task29 but it does the same as any other update. It just wont let me flash anything, it keeps hanging at 0%

Additional info:
When running task 29, first it says From: image version:
To: image version: 2.0.00.00
And when I start the progress bars appear on both my comp and phone.
Afterwards it gave me a communications error.

Ok. Let's start from the very beginning.
Find the CORRECT STOCK ROM first. You go to htc website and use your serial number to download the rom. Make sure your downloaded file is not corrupt.
Get micro sd and use PC to format it to fat 32.
Extract the stock rom and find file with the name: RUU_signed.nbh. Rename it to: leoimg.nbh.
Turn off the phone (make sure battery at least 50% capacity), put your micro sd.
Now, press the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON (don't release it), then press POWER ON button at the same time until white screen appear. Now, follow the on screen instruction.
If you succeed, check your spl by going into boot loader screen.
If your spl is other than spl 3.03, you can continue with next process. Installing SPL 3.03 HSPL.
Then, Do task 29. Then, flash radio 2.15.xx. Then install magldr 1.13.
All process can be done while in the boot loader screen.
If you succeed, you will be brought to mgldr screen. Select option no.5 (USB flasher) and press the green phone call button and connect it via USB, now run the NAND ANDROID you choose from your PC. If fails, retry the process from magldr screen and try different USB port. Also, make sure your anti virus, firewall, and Internet is turn off.
Good luck...
Thank you man, it worked!
I did everything you said and my phone is back up and running
Thanks!

i want to installa wp7 but when i want to update my radio it stucks at zero
i tried to put the LEOIMG.nbh and did as u said but it stucks at the white screen and says loading.... only
i cant uninstall hspl nor can i use the stock official rom to make my hd2 as normal.
pls help. thanks in advance

Is this HD2 screwed?

Okay guys, am I screwed?
I tried putting android on this HD2.
I successfully installed HSPL 2.08 HSPL (So NO 2.08.0000)
Then I tried installing MAGLDR 1.13, just by executing the ROMUtilityUpdater.exe.
Clicked the first checkbox, then the 2nd, and then that 'Update' thingy.
It was going to updating from 1.72.XXXXX to 2.00.0.000 (or something)
I had it connected through Activesync (WinXP).
It was ready in 30seconds, instead of the normal 10 minutes.
Now it just hangs on the White HTC bootscreen.
I tried doing a Task29, but in the RGB Bootloader (USB connected) screen it won't connect to ActiveSync. I Ran it anyway, but still no Windows or MAGLDR.
Do I need to install a different Radio? If so how do I do that and where can I find it?
I am downloading a stock WinMo 6.5 Rom (vodafone branded, from HTC.com)
Thanks for all the help in advance!
had simillar problem. I would just install the latest Windows ROM 3.03 but thru SD card (Download official 3.03 ROM for Your phone, extract it, change the nbh file name to LEOIMG, put it on Your SD card, Switch the phone on holding volume button down, and then go with the instructions on the screen) cuz it changes Your SPL, then install HSPL 4. After that install CLK and CLOCKWORK and then NAND Your device with clk version android.
Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021837 if You dont know how to install clK. It is a bit complicated but if You are a bit computer literate You should be ok.
Okay, thanks!
I installed a stock vodafone rom, it is booting now!
so where do i find 2.15 pesky radio 2.15 rom?
I installed HSPL using HSPL in the first place

Seemed to have Bricked my HD2 migrating to Andriod, HELP

Ok I was moving over Andriod from WM65 Energy rom and started to install the MAGLDR and it seemed to load up fine! But once I rebooted, I just get the Energy ROM screen and it won't go further.
Even if I put it back in to BootLoad mode I can't get ActiveSync to connect to continue!
Any ideas?
WinMo ROMs and Android ROMs need different SPL versions. You should reset your HD2 using this step by step guide: http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/01/how-to-upgrade-htc-hd2-rom-through-sd-card-video/
You should take the latest stock ROM available, since this includes the latest Radio ROM which you need to run most Android ROMs. Afterwards I suggest installing HSPL2.08 and MAGLDR, CWM again.
Ok, I downloaded the stock rom and extracted the RUU and renamed to leoimg.nbh and did the bootloader thing and it didn't work!
What do I try next?
I know I've had to do the Task29 before when it got like this. Is that what I need to do again?
no need for task29.
there are two 'musts' for magldr to work
1 spl MUST be 2.08.hspl ONLY, no other will work.
In bootloader, does teh spl line say 2.08.hspl? no? magldr will not appear, even though it is flashed ok.
2 radio MUST be one that is compatible with the fabled 576meg ram trick, or to put it another way, it must be compatible with tmous phones, or a third way, it must be a x.xx.50. version radio, not a x.xx.51. version. Also, 2.05.50 and 2.06.50 will not work either. The one that came with your phone wont work, (assuming you don't have a tmous, if you DO have a tmous, you dont need to change radio.)
For ease, go flash radio 2.15.50
When both these conditions are met, and only then, magldr will start.
So, as you are now, ,
phone into bootloader
flash 2.08.hspl
phone back into bootloader
flash radio 2.15.50
back into bootloader
flash magldr
restart.

I believe this is my problem! A while back I mistakenly thought HSPL 3 was an updated version so I put it on. It is the SPL-3.03.HSPL. I'm not sure how to get it off and it doesn't seem to connect via activestink and it doesn't seem to wanna upgade off my card. leoimg.nbh is in root and booted in to bootload mode!
g
Just go back to the boot loader, connect your PC via USB and flash HSPL 2.08 over again. The HSPL application scans which SPL is installed and provides you the SPLs you can flash. 2.08HSPL is your choice.
Also search for radio master thread for HD2 in this forum, download and flash latest radio ROM.
Sent from my NexusHD2 using XDA App
Well, tried reloading of HSPL2 and I got an critical error bad SPL version!
I'll be searching around for this new error if anyone has a solution!
Also, if someone has time to get on Skype, I don't mind dropping down a tip!

You arent thinking right about exactly what hspl2, 3 and 4 are. There was no need to even use hspl2, hspl4 can set 2.08.hspl
hspl2 hspl3 and hspl4 aren't different 'versions' of hspl in the way you think, , selecting 2.08.hspl using hspl2 or hspl3 or hspl4 gives the very same 2.08.hspl, no difference. The .exe's are just loader programs, the only difference between them is the phone models and spl's each supports. so when you went to stock and no doubt ended up with spl 3.03.0000 hspl2 wouldnt work because it requires a starting spl of 2.08 or lower, as does hspl3.
using hspl4 does work, because it was released for just that reason, to support spl 3.03, its not 'better' or a higher version than hspl3, its just been tweaked to support more spl's.

[Q] Problem staying connected NAND while magldr downgrading to 2.0

hi all,
we are trying to put android on a HD2 but i work work because we get disconnected from the moment i start downgrading the phone to 2.0.
anyone got a clue to fix this lil problem ?
regards Remon and Teymur
i THINK what you mean is downgrading to spl 2.0??? if i'm correct what you want to downgrade to is actually Hspl 2.08 (if on a USA branded HD2 with 1024 nand and red/green call/end buttons) CHANGING TO HSPL MUST BE DONE FIRST (only the radio can be flashed before)
i can't remember what Hspl is for the EU Leo ... Hspl 3.x ... i believe.
hope i helped. cheers

we are running spl 3.03.0000 now and we need to get it to hspl 2.08 i believe in order to do magldr so we can actually install android on it.
but the usb disconnects we we try magldr to get it to hspl 2.08,
so we probably need an alternative way.
got any clues ?
you need to flash hspl before magldr via bootloader (tri-color screen) then flash mad, etc
Phone off
Into bootloader
Connect USB
run Hspl4 ... make sure you choose 2.08.hspl only
When it reboots go straight back into bootloader
USB
Run magldr installer (no need to change radio if you were running 3.14 rom cos radio will already be fine (((previous post that said radio can be flashed without hspl is wrong)))
When it reboots it will start magldr menu
Choose USB flasher
Use nand toolkit to apply partitioning your target rom requires-this step will also apply cwm (clockwork)
Restart into magldr, option 8 ad recovery
In cwm recovery choose advanced partition SD card (assuming you want an ext partition to increase internal storage,)
Back into cwm mounts and storage, mount SD card, copy across the new rom.zip
In cwm choose flash zip from SD
That's it.
oh, thanks sam. i wasnt sure if anything could be flashed before or not. i knew radio had something special about when it can be flashed, like it needed to be flashed first (if need be) right?

if you were starting from stock, the radio would either be the second or third thing you flashed, , HSPL first, then magldr and radio in either order.
magldr simply wont start 'till the radio (and hspl) are correct.
